Chapter 39 The Guide
Seto and the others had arrived at the Easter Air Temple to tell them the situation of what happened when they left.
"So Unalaq is planning to free this Dark Spirit Vaatu that Avatar Was the First Avatar imprisoned in the spirit world?" Tenzin asked.
"Yeah and Sean's Titan Counterpart said he wants to merge with him to become this Dark Avatar like he did in his universe." Tea said.
"I knew Unalaq was hungry for power but I never would have thought he'd unleash something so evil." Tenzin said.
"You don't know the half of it." Sean said as he and Korra appeared.
"What are you guys doing here? I thought you were going to the fire nation." Asami said.
"My mother told us what Unalaq is up to in this universe. He does want to free Vaatu that hasn't changed. But theres someone else he's trying to free as well. Someone ten times more dangerous than Vaatu and more Dangerous than Anubis." Sean said.
Later
"So Unalaq wants to free Aknadin to control this Exodia Necros?" Tenzin asked.
"To destroy modern Society and build a new on in his image. Then go to the other universe and destroy it completely because he hates the card game so much." Sean said.
"I always knew Unalaq hated it but I never imagined he would go to such lengths to get what he wants." Tenzin said.
"I did. He doesn't care who dies in the process just so long as he can have ultimate power. And now he may have the means to get it." Seto said.
"Theres more to that story isn't there?" Yami asked.
"Unfortunately yes. Aknadin is also my Granduncle." Sean said shocking them. "And more importantly he's the reason Zorc is in this universe. Because he misunderstood the meaning of a spell he used on the village of Kul Ellna." Sean said.
"Misunderstood how?" Ishizu asked.
"The village was home of those of darkness in their souls who stole from the kingdom. So he decided he would end that by the spell he used thinking it would purge them of this darkness...But he misunderstood its meaning. When it said sacrifice the darkness it didn't mean the darkness within it meant those who had darkness within their souls. In doing so killed most of the village and created the seven Millennium Items. Which is what allowed Zorc a gateway into this world." Sean said.
"So the Seven Items were created unintentionally." Tenzin said.
"Yeah. And Bakura is from that village." Sean said.
"So he's not working for Zorc because he's power hungry or selfish. He'w working for him because he's angry at what happened all those years ago." Asami said.
"Anger will do that." Seto said.
"But how did Aknadin become so evil?" Mokuba asked.
"Bakura corrupted him with his dark magic. And tried to kill me when I was still a little kid. Exodia however stopped him before he vanished before corrupting his lower version. He's in a sphere right now in the spirit world. I think Unalaq wants to use the convergence to free both him and Vaatu and merge with Vaatu to become a Dark Avatar." Sean said.
"I've never even heard of Exodia Necros in the game." Seto said.
"Probably because it hasn't been made yet or it's just as rare as the Exodia pieces. Regardless this one is nearly equal to the Exodia we know. And if Unalaq gets his hands on that kind of power...I don't even want to think about it." Sean said.
"So what do we do? It's not like we can just go back to the South and look for them." Tristan said.
"We thought about that on the way here. Our best chance to stop them is to close the spirit portal from within. We have to go into the spirit world the old fashioned way before they opened up again." Korra said.
"You mean connect to it." Yami said.
"Right." Sean said.
"Even if we do close the portal from inside theres still the danger of someone else trying again." Odion said.
"True. Thats why we're going to send them to the Titan Universe to have King Godzilla erase them like he did with the Vaatu from his universe. This way they can never cause any harm again." Sean said.
"I see. It's a perfect plan. Have them permanently erased so they can never come back again." Tenzin said.
"Then what are we waiting for? Go connect to spirit world." Joey said.
"Uh Joey? It's not that simple. We've never done that before." Sean said shocking him and the others.
"You two have never been to the spirit world?" Tea asked.
"Nope. Never had a reason to back then. Aang had an easier time since the Air Nation Nomads are more connected to the spirit world. Thats why we came to Tenzin. He's been there before." Sean said. (Snicker)
"I can get both of you in there. Today we enter the spirit world." Tenzin said.
Meanwhile
"Where is your brother?" Unalaq asked his daughter who looked away. "Eska...What happened?" Unalaq asked.
"Desna is in the Shadow realm." Eska said shocking him. "We tried to capture the Avatar and the Peasant but..." Eska tried to say.
"Let me guess. You called him that right before you attacked." Unalaq said frowning.
"So?" Eska asked making him sigh.
"Sometimes I wish your mother gave me one more child who was smart unlike you two." Unalaq said.
"He is nothing more than a waste of flesh unlike us." Eska said.
"And yet unlike Desna he's in this world and he's in the shadow realm because you two constantly think your superior over him which your not." Unalaq said.
"Whatever. Point is he's in the Shadlow Realm. But something else did happen before I escaped." Eska said.
"And that is?" Unalaq asked.
"An ancient attacked them both. I think this one is called Spiral Serpent." Eska said making him frown.
"Why would it attack them...Unless..." Unalaq tried to say.
"I didn't actually attack them." Eska theorized.
"I don't know what they are up to but it is essential that the Avatar opens the northern portal before the Convergence this week." Unalaq said.
"I can't do it alone." Eska said.
"Nor could you do it with your brother." Unalaq said.
Meanwhile
"So how do we get them into the spirit world?" Joey asked.
"By meditating into the spirit world. You couldn't have picked a better place to do so. This temple is famous for spiritual connections." Tenzin said.
"Then lets get this over with. The Sooner we close that portal the better. Then we can confront Unalaq and whatever army Bakura gave him." Sean said.
"Then let us begin." Tenzin said.
Soon all three were in the meditation stance with Ikki and Meelo trying to help them out with some instruments to make the journey easier.
"Uh...Is this working?" Joey asked.
"No." Sean said annoyed.
"Not even close." Korra said equally annoyed.
"I would be if Meelo would ring his bell at the appropriate intervals." Tenzin said.
"Aww, Did I do it wrong?" Meelo asked.
"Let's try something else." Tenzin said leaving.
"I thought your bell ringing was just fine." Korra said making Sean scoff.
"Yeah sure. Fine. From a dumbass who sent us in another universe because he thought the runes looked ugly." Sean said making most snicker while he pouted.
Trying another area they were using special smoke to make it easier but like last time nothing was happening.
"You three even close to getting in the spirit world?" Marik asked.
"No!" Sean yelled kicking some of the sticks away. "For gods sakes Tenzin. This isn't working!" Sean said.
"Kya you set it up all wrong." Tenzin said.
"Hey I did everything you said. Not my fault." Kya said.
"Well, now the moment's ruined." Tenzin said.
"Are you getting the feeling he's not telling us something?" Seto asked Sean.
"Like what?" Sean asked.
"He says he's an expert with spiritual matters and yet he hasn't gotten you there yet. Or himself." Seto said.
"Well, maybe the spots just aren't working. Who knows." Sean said walking away.
Serenity then noticed Jinora looking out at the distance.
"Jinora? What are you looking at?" Serenity asked.
"Uh nothing." Jinora said running off making her raise an eyebrow.
Arriving at a temple they tried again.
"Focus, you two." Tenzin said.
"We're trying." Sean said.
"No talking." Tenzin said.
"Then why don't you shut the fuck up." Sean said annoyed.
"Feel the energy of the universe." Tenzin said.
"Okay, I feel it." Korra said.
"Korra, Really! I'm trying to concentrate here!" Tenzin said shocking her as he stood up. "I don't think this location is going to work either." Tenzin said frustrated.
"Ok thats it." Seto said walking in.
"Look I..." Tenzin tried to say.
"You have been wasting our time since we tried this. You said you know how to get there and yet you can't enter it yourself. They haven't tried this before till now but you should have no trouble...If you actually have been there." Seto said making him widen his eyes.
"What are you trying to say exactly?" Sean asked standing up.
"I don't think he's ever been to the spirit world once." Seto said.
"Thats ridiciules. He's been there before lots of times. Said so himself...Right Tenzin?" Korra asked unsure.
"No...Seto's right...I've never once been there." Tenzin said shocking them all as the others looked in.
"You have never once been to the spirit world?" Korra asked in shock.
"But you used to spend days in the temple meditating." Pema said.
"Trying to get in...It never happened. It's my greatest shortcoming as an Airbender, spiritual leader, and son of Aang." Tenzin said as Bumi laughed.
"Welcome to the I disappoint Dad club." Bumi said.
"If you've never been to the spirit world, how are you planning to get Korra and Sean there?" Kya asked.
"I've spent years studying the techniques and theories of ancient spiritual leaders. Now that the Avatar needs me, It must be my time." Tenzin said.
"You've wasted enough time as it is." Seto said.
"Easy Seto. He may not have been there himself but he knows how." Asami said.
"Knowing and actually doing it are two different things." Seto said.
"In this case he's right. Tenzin can only do so much." Yami said.
"I think I know someone who can help. Right Jinora?" Serenity asked.
"Jinora? She is too young and untrained to have any knowledge about spiritual matters." Tenzin said.
"Actually, I think I do know where they need to go to get into the spirit world." Jinora said.
"And how would you know that?" Yami asked curious.
"My spirit friends showed me." Jinora said before bunny spirits with dragonfly wings appeared.
"Hello." Joey said surprised.
"Wow." Sean said chuckling.
"Wonder if Pegasus would love to make these in duel monsters." Joey said as they walked out.
"How long have you been able to do this?" Seto asked impressed.
"I don't know. I guess I've always kind of had a connection with spirits." Jinora said as a blue one laid on Bumi making him laugh.
"I think this one likes me." Bumi said.
"Are they here to help?" Korra asked.
"I think they want you go down there." Jinora said as they went somewhere.
"I don't know. The Spiritual energy is historically strongest near the temple." Tenzin said.
"No offense, but I'm guessing the spirits have actually been to the spirit world, So we're gonna follow them." Korra said.
"If we need to go to the Tenzin world, we'll call you." Bumi teased making him frown.
The group got on Oogi and some flying spirits to head to where they were going while Bumi was playing with his new spirit friend.
"Oh, you are just so cute. I'm going to name you Bum-Ju. It's short for Bumi, Junior. Don't you think he looks like me?" Bumi asked.
"The resemblance is uncanny." Tenzin said not looking.
"I think dad's mad at me." Jinora said.
"I think it's more at himself than you." Tea said.
"His pride is just a little bruised since he can't see spirits like you can." Kya said.
"You got a natural gift. That's pretty lucky." Korra said.
"Yeah and at your age no less. I'm surprised you never told anyone." Sean said.
"I thought it was best to keep quiet about that one. You know incase people like Unalaq found out and tried to do to me what he tried to do to you." Jinora said.
"Smart." Sean said before they landed.
Walking to where they were leading them they came to some special site.
"This is an ancient airbender meditation circle." Tenzin said.
"There's a lot of spiritual energy in this place, but it feels really strange." Jinora said.
"We'll have to perform a spiritual cleansing ceremony." Tenzin said.
"What are you talking about?" Bumi asked.
"Dad taught it to me. This site has been neglected for many years. A cleansing ceremony will help strengthen its connection to the spirit world." Tenzin said.
Tenzin got started on the ritual before the spirits left.
"Great you scared them off." Bumi said before the ground shook before dark spirits came out of the ground.
"AH! BATS!" Bumi yelled as they ran for cover
"Not bats! Dark Spirits!" Korra yelled.
"AH GREAT!" Joey yelled shielding his sister.
"Do something!" Seto yelled as Mokuba was behind him before Sean blasted them into light spirits.
"Whoa. Where'd you learn to do that?" Korra asked surprised.
"It's a balancing spell. Never mind that now. Lets get this over with." Sean said.
Hours later
Tenzin was once again trying to connect to the spirit world. And Bumi was poking him with a stick.
"You in the spirit world yet?" Bumi asked making him annoyed.
"No, I am no, and stop bugging me." Tenzin said airbending the stick away.
"It's okay, Tenzin. Maybe you weren't meant to guide them into the spirit world." Kya said.
"No! Just give me some time." Tenzin said.
"Stop being so stubborn. It's not your destiny. I think Jinora was meant to guide them." Kya said.
"Jinora will not enter the spirit world! She's not ready for the dangers of the other side, But I am. I've spent years training, studying, and mastering everything there is to know about the spirit world." Tenzin said.
"Tenzin, we're running out of time." Korra said.
"We need to get this done now before the Convergence. And your wasting time because of your damn pride." Sean said.
"If everyone could just be quiet and let me focus." Tenzin said before Jinora grabbed him.
"Aunt Kya is right. I can guide Sean and Korra into the spirit world. I'll be all right." Jinora said making him sigh.
"Perhaps I will never have the connection with spirits like I always wanted. Like my father wanted me to have." Tenzin said.
"Certain people are meant for some things and others are not. Plain and simple." Turok said.
Soon Jinora was helping both Sean and Korra get into the spirit world.
Thats when they suddenly arrived as they opened their eyes seeing themselves within the spirit world.
"Wow." Sean said impressed.
Meanwhile
Unalaq stood before both Vaatu and Aknadin with the later still imprisoned within the sphere but looked more human again.
"I cannot find the Avatar. And my son is now within the Shadow realm. Without her I cannot open the portal. I failed you both." Unalaq said.
"You have not failed...The Avatar has arrived." Vaatu said shocking him.
"How do you know." Unalaq asked.
"Though my connection to Raava has been severed I can still feel her presence. And Kruger has also arrived." Vaatu said making him frown.
"I'll take care of him. He's become a disappointment to me." Unalaq said.
"No...I will deal with him. It's only fair that I be the one to end him." Aknadin said narrowing his eyes.
