Chapter 42 Trial by Stone
Tea and the others waited for the others to return back from finding Yugi.
"Are they ever coming back?" Tea asked.
"Don't worry. I'm sure they'll be back soon." Turok said before Rebecca looked up seeing them arriving.
"Its them." Rebecca said as Sean parked in front of them before he got out with Korra before Tea rushed to them and held them close.
"I'm so glad you guys are safe. And you brought Yugi back." Tea said before noticing them looking away.
"Not...Exactly." Sean said.
"Yugi, Whats wrong?" Rebeca asked Yami not knowing the difference between the two.
"Yami and some punk named Rafael dueled...And he lost." Sean said shocking them.
"And Yugi's gone." Korra said.
"But he's right..." Tea tried to say before she took a closer look seeing it was actually Yami.
"It was my fault. I played the seal of Orichalcus. He tried to warn me but my rage took control." Yami said.
"Enough." Sean said stopping everyone. "Whats done is done." Sean said.
"You knew that card was evil and you still played it? If you really were a brave Pharaoh, You would never have done something like that to poor little Yugi." Rebeca said.
"Thats amusing coming from you." Sean said confusing her.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Rebeca demanded.
"Correct me if I'm wrong but you consider yourself very smart for your age. And yet you've made your own share of mistakes. Blindly accusing Solomon of being a thief of stealing Arthur's blue eyes even though he actually gave it to him. You didn't even ask how his card was in Solomon's possession like a rational person would." Sean said making her gasp seeing his logic. "Or what happened between us when you accused me of being a criminal because Tahno said so instead of asking around to see if it was true. You blindly listened to one man not even considering if he was lying about me taking his bending away for a laugh." Sean said making her hold her head down and started crying as Tea held her.
"All right Sean thats enough." Tea said.
"Just stating the truth. And the Truth is he made a simple mistake. One that can be corrected once we find out where all these souls are being held." Sean said.
"I've been suggesting that since the beginning. But no one listened to me." Duke said making Tristan growl and pulled him into a head lock.
"Hey! Stop thinking about yourself for once, Duke!" Tristan yelled.
"Down, boy! Heel!" Duke yelled.
"Knock it off!" Sean yelled.
"Hey...Where are Weevil and Rex?" Korra asked making everyone look seeing they weren't with them.
"Oh fucking hell. Don't tell me." Sean said having a hunch.
"What?" Joey asked.
"I think they want to join Dartz. Revenge." Sean said making them glare.
"Of course." Tristan said.
Meanwhile
Rex and Weevil walked the halls with Rafael and Alister to their master's lair.
"I don't want to sound disrespectful, guys, but why does a super evil organization have such a lame hideout?" Rex asked.
"If you wanna make it to your next birthday, I suggest shutting up." Weevil said as they arrived at some door.
"You're about to meet our Master, so don't say anything stupid." Rafael said as they opened the door before walking in. "Mission accomplished, master. You'll be happy to know the strongest soul in this universe has been captured, Master Dartz." Rafael said.
"Not quite." Dartz said confusing him. "Who you captured is a secondary soul that inhabits the same body as the Pharaoh. In other words you captured the wrong soul because he switched places with our target." Dartz said shocking him.
"That punk!" Rafael yelled.
"Blame only yourself. I warned you not to go after him till we were ready. And now we have an even bigger problem because of you. Kruger." Dartz said.
"I know. I saw him. He won't stop us." Rafael said.
"Do you ever listen? The Ancients can easily overpower the Great Leviathan if all the Ancient gods come through the gateway to stop us. We would lose. And then theres the fact about these Titans from the other universe. The King alone defeated both the Zorc from the Titan Universe and the Ancients without much effort. I don't want either of them here." Dartz said.
"We'll find a way to keep them from coming. The Titans however from what I understand won't get involved in another universe unless it involves them directly. So they have no reason to show up." Rafael said.
"Don't be so sure." Dartz said before noticing both Weevil and Rex. "And who are they?" Dartz asked.
"Recruits. They both got a bone to pick with Kruger and his friends. I thought they might be useful and help us take them down. If nothing else we get two souls." Rafael said making Dartz smile.
"I see. Perhaps I misjudged you in your planning strategies." Dartz said making them both grin as Rafael led them to another room full of Cards.
"We've gathered nearly every card that originated from this universe. Choose your decks wisely." Rafael said making them grin wildly as they rushed to the cards.
"We hit the mother load!" Rex yelled.
"So we can take any card we want?" Weevil asked.
"Except the Egyptain God Cards. I need them for my plans to succeed." Dartz said.
"And what exactly are your plans? As long as they involve taking down those Kruger brothers I'm all in." Rex said.
"They've humiliated us constantly since they showed up. We used to be the best until Yugi and Wheeler came along and when they showed up during the Battle City Tournament it got even worse. So as long as we can get them we're all in." Weevil said.
"Originally I had no plans for them. But since they are now involved I have no choice. Bring me their souls. And all will be revealed." Dartz said making them grin.
Meanwhile
"So they wanna take over the world. Big deal. We've dealt with that before." Joey said.
"I don't think its that simple this time around. They aren't just talking about destroying all life on Earth. Their doing it right now." Sean said.
"And thats the part that worries me. Marik's dark half and Unalaq both wanted to destroy the worlds they lived in for different reason. The first for the sake of ruling over everyone. Unalaq however wanted everyone to be like him for his own selfish reason and was willing to unleash two great evils to do it. This time we have no way of knowing whats coming since the Titans know nothing about this Dartz guy." Turok said.
"But we know how to stop them. We gotta go straight to the source and destroy that secret weapon of theirs." Joey said.
"I doubt its that simple. If events as of late have told us anything is that nothing is ever simple nor is everything as it seems." Korra said.
"Korra's right. We need more information on what we're dealing with." Yami said.
"Lets go over everything we know right now. You tried to use the God Cards on that tablet to unlock your past because of some voice. And when you did these Ancient like beings showed up. Then the God cards were stolen. And then both Pegasus and Seto had shares of their companies bought. I think it's safe to say they need them out of the way for whatever it is they got planned." Sean said.
"That remind me. Rebecca, Seto said your grandfather made some grand discovery shortly before this even happened. Maybe thats related to this." Jinora said.
"If it is it doesn't matter now." Rebecca said.
"And why is that?" Sean asked.
"What he discovered were ancient ruins down below in the ocean. But now." Rebecca said showing the latest report about the ruins being completely destroyed.
"Someone ruined the ruins?" Tea asked.
"If I had to guess Dartz is trying to cover something up. What exactly did your Grandfather think these ruins were?" Sean asked.
"I can answer that." Arthur said surprising them he was up.
"Professor? You should be resting." Korra said.
"I'll be just fine. Anyway, who could sleep with you kids chit-Chatting all day?" Arthur said.
"So what do you think?" Sean asked.
"Your right about looking to the ruins for answers." Arthur said.
"So did you discover anything about these thugs?" Yami asked.
"Well, I can't be sure, but based on the inscriptions I found, Theres a good chance these fellows are descendants of Atlantis." Arthur said.
"Atlantis?" Korra asked.
"We've never heard of a place called that in our universe." Jinora said.
"Not surprising. Every universe though share similarities also have many differences. Atlantis was a continent said to have disappeared into the ocean Thousands of years ago without a trace." Arthur said.
"What destroyed the place?" Turok asked.
"From what I discovered it was destroyed by an all powerful beast that could depending on your point of view rival the Ancients from your universe and perhaps even the Titans. Though the Titans have proven to be even more powerful than the Ancients themselves based upon the battle of the King and Zorc not long ago, this creature could perhaps rival their power as well." Arthur said.
"So they must be trying to resurrect this thing for that power. How was it defeated the first time?" Sean asked.
"That I am unsure but I believe the answer lies within the ruins that was just destroyed. They must be trying to prevent history from repeating itself with its defeat. In which case they'll do whatever it takes to prevent us from learning how to defeat it once again should it rise once more." Arthur said.
"We gotta find out where these guys are and stop them." Joey said.
"We don't know where that is yet. Is there anything that could help us discover a weakness of some sort?" Sean asked.
"There are copies of the inscriptions but they are in Florida." Arthur said.
"We need to make a call to Seto real quick." Sean said.
Meanwhile
Seto was at his company building with Asami and Mokuba.
"I don't care what it takes. Find out who's buying the shares and do it now!" Seto yelled on the phone before hanging up.
"Easy Seto. We'll find out whats going on before they have full control of the company." Asami said.
"It's not just them buying it thats putting me on edge. By right Kaibacorp owns New Paradise City. So if they buy more percentages of the company..." Seto said.
"They could own Paradise City. They could tear it down if they wanted to or worse put Raiko back in charge." Mokuba said.
"Exactly. And I can't afford that. I spent too much time and effort building that place from the ground up to lose it to some nut job." Seto said before his webcam turned on.
"Hate to bring more bad news but your getting it." Sean said with the others.
"What now?" Seto asked.
"We have reason to believe our new enemies are from the lost City of Atlantis." Sean said.
"Atlantis?" Asami asked.
"It's an old city said to have sunken into the sea." Seto said.
"Yeah well the ruins were totaled so it proves the theory. Not only that but we have reason to think they're trying to resurrect some ancient beast that could rival the Ancient Gods and maybe even the Titans." Sean said.
"And Dartz is leading them." Seto said.
"Maybe...But we also got some more bad news. Yami lost a duel to one of his thugs." Sean said making him narrow his eyes.
"What?" Seto asked.
"Don't go off the handle. Some guy named Rafael." Sean said making him raise an eyebrow.
"Hold on." Seto said using his computer to show his face. "Is that him?" Seto asked.
"Yes...How do you know?" Yami asked.
"I've heard about him before. Supposedly he's the best duelist in the US. And heres another thing he lost everything years ago on a family cruise and survived on and island with only his cards. When he got back his family wanted nothing to do with him and took his father's savings for himself." Seto said.
"I guess that explains why he's so angry." Sean said. "Anyway we need a lift to the Museum in Florida to see the inceptions They might hold some answers." Sean said.
"Your going to have to go by Train then. I can't risk Alister ambushing you in the air since that sounds like something he would do." Seto said.
"All right. Turok I want you and Jinora to go back to Kaibacorp and help him out. The rest of us will head to Florida." Sean said.
"Probably for the best." Turok said.
"Can't we just fly?" Joey asked.
"I'm not wasting my energy and then getting ambushed by Dartz. Better the safe way." Sean said making him sigh.
"Fine." Joey said.
