"This can't be real…" He muttered as a tear streaked down his cheek. Barry sighed.
"I hate this, we need to find a way to help him." Barry said, Diana nodded.
"Indeed, he doesn't deserve this mental torture." She said. "I don't what I would do if the one I loved no longer loved me and moved on without a care in the world." Diana said as she glanced at Karen.
"Honestly she shouldn't have handled the situation the way she did." Diana spoke, Barry nodded.
"I can't believe this…she was right…right in my arms not even two hours ago…" He muttered.
"I wouldn't know what to do if I woke up one day and Iris saw me as a stranger." Barry said, he could really feel for his best friend.
Gohan face was downcast as he looked at the tablet and took it before looking to both Flash and Diana. "I will…be…back…later, I need to…think." He said, the light in his eyes was dull.
He snap vanished, his hair turning a redish purple hue. He travelled deep into the universe at ridiculous speeds. The watchtower alarms even went off.
The heroes all gathered in the monitor room. "He must really be unstable right now." Said Green Lantern.
"Who can blame him…his slowly losing his mind." Green Arrow.
"He doesn't deserve this…I wish I could help him." Martian manhunter said. "But his mind can only be healed by his power."
Batman sighed. "Regardless, if this continues he will become a liability, what happens when he has an episode but instead he sees us as the villains." He looked at the rest of the league. "Stay on guard."
Superman spoke. "If the time comes, Gohan told us himself that we can use the gas to stop him, after everything he has done for this earth, his name should never be tarnished."
There was silence in the room as the league members stared at the screen. "Let's just be ready for when he comes back." Batman said.
Gohan stopped in middle of space, he didn't care who's space controlled region this was, there was very few things in the universe that could actually pose a problem to him.
He roared at space, generating many times the power of a supernova exploding. His red hair turning more purple.
He charged a massive blast in his hands, the blast swelled up to the size of a planet, the energy a deep red with a purple tint.
He immediately threw the blast in a random direction, he snap vanished and appeared in front of it taking the brunt of the attack, the energy released from the explosion could be seen millions of light years away.
When the explosion ended Gohan was floating in space missing his left arm and leg. He nearly passed out due to the pain but willed himself awake. 'I need to do something make me feel anything other than the void I feel inside me right now.' He thought to himself as his aura burst to life again, his blood was pouring out of him in large quantities, but he didn't care, he wasn't too worried about it. If he really wanted to he could just use his ki to burn the wounds closed.
"What she and I had couldn't have been all my imagination, it felt so real…" He told himself. He stared at the tablet, he restarted the video and re-listened to it.
{"Hey, if you are looking at this it means that you relapsed again, yes what they are saying is true, I know it will really hurt depending on how strong your delusion was, but just remember that none of it is real, a lot of things will seem normal but little details tend to change, sometimes the details are noticeable, while other times its so small you don't notice until it slams you in the face, most of the time your delusion comes from seeing things over and over."}
{"I don't know why but it's either Karen, Kara or Bell who you end up in a relationship with, it seems real…but trust me…it isn't…"}
He realized that was where he stopped listening to the video. {"Just, don't do anything stupid…don't hurt the people you bled to protect…that's all I have to say."} The video ended and Gohan sighed as he shook his head.
He knew what his video was talking about, don't risk the league. If he were to go berserk then that would be really bad.
He looked in the direction of earth and the league and decided to continue flying in the opposite the direction, he needed to get away from the earth.
He stopped and looked back at the earth again, his senses finding Karen's energy signature, he sighed and gained a determined look in his eyes. He aimed his hand at the missing arm and leg he had and burnt the wounds closed to stop the bleeding.
He moved through space at great speeds again and appeared in the watchtower again, he flew towards Karen's energy. When he arrived at the training room it was only her and Max, only they were laughing, she seemed so happy, the same happiness he had seen in her eyes when he spoke to her.
He stopped at the sight, before he could stop himself he hid around the corner.
The league was watching from the watchtower feed, ready to move if Gohan's emotions overwhelmed him. They noticed his missing limbs. "He lost two limbs this time." Manhunter sighed.
"How has she not noticed he is there." Barry asked through grit teeth.
"She is doing it on purpose." Superman said with a sigh. "Max has no idea, but she knows, there is no way she hasn't noticed him."
Donna stared at the screen. "I get she doesn't like him but this is brutal…"
Kara sighed. "As much as he has done for the earth, you don't understand how irritating it is, it's getting old now, you know how long I had to explain to Jimmy that nothing was going on between Gohan and I." Kara said.
Barry just rolled. His eyes. "And? So what? He saved the world twice now, and you are more interested in what your boyfriend thinks then the mental health of the one who helped make sure you still have a world to go back to. This is pathetic…I have to go and stop him before he makes an even bigger fool of himself." Barry said as he was about to run off but stopped when he saw Gohan sitting on the floor not doing anything and just listening to Karen and Max talking.
He had a calm smile on his face. He glanced up at the camera and said something as he smiled, his hair turned red with the purple tint, before his body just vanished, this time the alarm never went off.
"...Gohan…" Barry said, he quickly sped through the tower and arrived at the spot, and indeed Gohan was gone, he ran back to the monitor room.
"His gone." Barry said. "He never did that before."
"I can't find his energy signature, he must have left the galaxy." Batman said as he typed into the supercomputer.
He rewinded the footage and sighed. "I guess he just couldn't take it this time."
"What did he say?" Donna asked.
"He didn't say it out loud, but he mouthed it. He said goodbye." Batman said.
"..." Silence ensued.
Barry's blood boiled as he ran back to the training room at full speed. He arrived and walked up to the two with fire in his eyes.
"You mind explaining what that was?!" He asked, the anger just beneath.
"I did what I needed to do for him to leave me alone again." Max looked confused.
"Wait?" What happened?" He asked.
"Why don't you ask your girlfriend!?" Barry said.
Karen growled. "I could give two shits, he needed to hear that I was not interested in him."
Barry just shook his head in disappointment. "You know after hearing that…I think it's better he left…"
Karen looked to Barry a confused expression. "What?" She asked.
Barry nodded. "You heard me, he left, he just sat and smiled, he waved at the camera and vanished. What a fucking great way for a hero to leave." He said.
Karen looked conflicted. "And what did you expect me to do?" She asked him.
Barry just turned. "I didn't expect you to do anything, just put him down slowly, I was never expecting you to be with him, I just wanted you to handle the situation with more care."
"I need air. Right now I can't stand being around you." He disappeared.
Max just shook his head. "It doesn't even matter, the way I see it he is doing himself a favor by not being here. Indominus is becoming more trouble than what he is worth." Max shrugged.
Karen sighed. "No…Barry is right…I could have handled that better. But I guess I can't turn back the hands of time." She said, regret in her voice.
Max sighed and held her hand. "Don't worry about it babe. Let's go for now, we staying in the hotel tonight right?" She nodded.
"Lets get room service…"
Gohan flew through space, his chest was empty but he had a neutral look on his face. 'So I guess it was all in my head, everything checks out, no one's energy is different or fluctuating, and if it really is a reoccurring thing then staying would be asking for that to happen again…I can't…I just cant take it, if that has to happen to me again, I would really lose my mind…' He thought to himself when suddenly a terrifying thought slapped him.
'What if it happens with anyone...not just Karen, Kara and Bell? That would mean I can't really talk to people or get to know them…unless, I just, unless I just let it happen over and over and just wait for me to wake up. I mean at this point its the only option I have.' He thought, he shivered, his feet went numb and his chest tightened. 'Unless I just don't let myself fall in love again…'
'What did I do to deserve this?' He thought to himself.
He glanced down at his remaining hand. He flew and flew for what felt like hours at a comfortable pace through the universe. He had passed many worlds.
He was sure that he had already left the eastern quadrant of the universe. He was many billions of light years away from earth. The cold dark void of space somehow extremely beautiful to his eyes.
His red aura protecting him from the voids harsh environment. He entered a system and noticed that they were all habitable. He flew down to a blue world.
When he entered the atmosphere he could see nothing but water as far as the eye could see, the planet was truly breathtaking, different creatures could be seen in the water, he could sense a massive lifeforce under the water, he could only imagine the predator that roamed the oceans of this world.
It didn't matter too much to him, he could see a island in the distance, flying down to the island he landed on the sand and stared at the crashing waves. He walked up to a tree and grabbed the fruit and took a bite.
"Wow that is sweet, I bet Karen would-" He caught himself. Looking at the fruit he sighed. The world had two suns, and the one had already set so the second one was setting, the horizon was lit up with an orange glow.
He took off and charged a ki blast, a extremely potent amount and condensed it down to a finger nail size. He left the pea sized energy ball floating in the atmosphere above the planet. 'Good, this way I can still find it.'
He took off and left the system, there was nothing else in that system so staying meant nothing to him. He continued his travels until he discovered another system that had almost five planets that supported life.
He could actually feel a few million ki signatures, but they were rapidly disappearing, he quickly flew to the planet, he could see multiple warship stationed above the planet, the space just above the planet was littered with destroyed warships, clearly a war was ongoing.
'It looks like one side has lost already, the enemy is just killing innocent lives right now.' He flew at high speed towards the surface of the planet.
He almost blinked into existence on the planet and all he could smell was blood and smoke. His red hair blowing in the wind.
The buildings were collapsing all around him.
'What is this? This isn't a war…' Upon closer inspection Gohan could see that there was still hundreds of thousands of warships around the planet. 'This planets defenses were breached long ago.' Gohan realized.
'I need to find the leaders.' He quickly flew around, he came across a massive palace, the entrance was in shambles and the main warship was floating outside the palace.
He heard yelling and crying, a loud sound reverberated through the palace walls.
He walked into the throne room to see a light blue skinned woman in a elegant clothing being dragged by the hair, she had strawberry color hair with faintly green glowing eyes.
An old man with a purple crown on his head was yelling in what was unbridled rage. His wife presumably the Queen was in tears as she watched her daughter being dragged away, the queen was bleeding, he could see she couldn't stand, her Achilles tendons were severed.
The person who seemed to be incharge of the whole situation laughed and spoke in a foreign language that Gohan didn't understand. He walked up the to King and punched him in the face as the guards held the kings arms. He walked over to the princess eyed the King, almost as if the king knew what the man wanted to do he violently shook trying to break free, the remaining guards of the family were all yelling in outrage at the scene.
Having seen enough of this Gohan made his presence know. "Hello." A simple word, but everyone in the room suddenly realized he was in the room.
The man spoke in the foreign tongue again, Gohan assumed he asked who Gohan was. "No one important, by the way I cant understand what you are saying." He said.
The man seemed disregard Gohan and waved his hand at the guard to kill him. The guard nodded and shot his laser gun at Gohan just smacked the laser away with his bare hand.
The room became quiet after that. The man in charge looked to a woman in the room, she was obviously on his side, she had the crest on her uniform of the soldier who just shot at him.
She chucked a device at him, Gohan caught it, she motioned for him to put it on. It reminded him of a scouter.
"There you should be able to understand me now yes?" The man asked.
"Who are you and what do you want? Are you with the royal family of the Lou Empire?" He asked.
Gohan ignored him. "I want to know what's happening here?" He asked the female soldier who gave him the device, she look unsure whether she should answer.
"We are from the Eve Empire, the Lou and the Eve Empires have been temporary allies in the fight against the forces of Apokolips, they have been knocking on our borders for the past few centuries, so a alliance was the only way we could hold off Darkseid's forces, however Apokolips has been falling apart with Darkseid's capture, before Apokolips the Lou and Eve were the greatest of enemies with great hatred for one another. So now that Apokolips can no longer threaten us, the Lou and Eve Empires gone to war again, today we finally defeated the Lou Empire."
He nodded, he heard of Green Lantern talking about two Empires before.
"I am Emperor Velius of the Eve Empire, and you are not welcome here, leave before I turn my eyes to whatever world you crawled out from." The Emperor threatened. "Kill him. And don't fail this time."
She nodded. "Yes." She snap vanished and appeared in front of Gohan and was about to punch him when she suddenly felt all the wind leave her lungs, dropping down to her knees nearly paralyzed by the hit.
Everyone present was taken aback. "Commander Strix! The soldiers all aimed their guns at Gohan.
The Emperor had a look of worry flash over his face. "Who are you?" He asked. "You just defeated the commander of the Eve Empire's forces in a single blow, no one has ever done that before. Not even Darkseid himself."
The king of the Lou just stared at Gohan as if hope sparked in his eyes he spoke. "Please, if you can help us the Lou Empire will forever be in your debt."
Gohan sighed. "I am not interested in that." Gohan said.
"Then join the Eve Empire we could use a warrior of your caliber" Velius said a grin appearing. "You can become the Commander of the all the forces the Empire has to offer." Velius offered. 'No matter who he is, an offer like that is way to good to pass up.' He thought.
"What about the current commander?" Gohan asked.
The Emperor shrugged and aimed a gun at her. "She can be retired early." He said.
"Do you have no shame Velius, how can you cast you subjects aside so easily." The King of Lou said. "One day you will pay for the pain you have cause to my people!"
Gohan sighed. "I heard enough, I don't like this." He said. "I will say this once. Leave here now Emperor Velius, or leave in a body cast, I cannot guarantee when you will wake up." Gohan said.
Emperor Veluis just gave him a blank stare. "Well I gave you a chance. Fire!" Veluis exclaimed as a beam suddenly went straight through the palace. The main warship had fired a laser canon.
When the laser beam ended Velius smirked. "Fool." He turned back to the King of Lou. "Now, take the princess back to my ship, I want to feel her later."
"The only fool here is you Velius." Gohan's voice spoke, he was unscathed by the beam.
Velius stepped back in fear. "What the hell are you?"
"I am a passing deity, the loss of life on this world was staggering so I decided to see what was happening." Gohan said.
Everyone looked at him stunned. "You are lying." Velius called him out.
Gohan rolled his eyes. "Okay, but if you do not retreat your forces right now, I will be forced to vaporize them all." His red hair started to glow with a purple hue as he started to float and a fiery red aura surrounded him emitting a warm glow, the commander on the floor immediately starting feeling better as she got up.
"His aura is so warm…it's healing me." She said as everyone couldn't help but stare in awe.
The queen's severed Achilles Tendon healed under the influence of his aura. He floated up and used his ki to blast the top of the palace to nothing, he shined brighter and brighter until almost the whole planet was enveloped.
When he was done he floated down and smiled at the king. "I saved most of the people who were just injured, I just couldn't save those who already passed." He said. "As for the warships I didn't destroy them, but don't push me." Gohan said.
Emperor Velius growled as he spat on the floor. "This changes nothing I will be back." Gohan smiled.
He suddenly appeared in front of the Emperor and flick him on the forehead knocking him out. "He is now a coma, he will wake in a few years, ten years at most and five the least." He turned and was about to leave.
"Now people of the Eve Empire leave this world." Gohan said. "And take your despicable emperor with." Gohan said, he honestly didn't care what happened to the emperor, judging by his character he must have no shortage of enemies in his own court.
The people of the Eve Empire quickly started to exit the palace, the guards came and picked up the Emperor and ran.
Commander Strix hadn't moved, she just stared at Gohan who saw her. "Is there anything you need commander?" He asked. He could see a internal struggle.
"I know this might not be possible but could you help me break free from the Eve Empire." She asked.
Gohan tilted his head . "Can you not just leave." She shook her head.
"The emperor has my family, so if I leave he will kill them." Gohan stood quiet for a few seconds. She felt the worst when he turned and looked away.
"Alright." She couldn't believe her ears. "Where are they?"
"I do not know. He would never give me that kind of information." She admitted.
Gohan nodded. "So are they blood related?" He asked. "If they are not blood related I cannot help you." He said.
"Yes they are. It's my mother, father and younger brother." She said.
Gohan nodded. "Alright keep quiet I need to concentrate. Which way is the Eve Empire?" He asked.
The king of the Lou Empire spoke. "They are in that direction." He pointed. Gohan nodded. As he closed his eyes and concentrated, focusing his senses in that general direction for ki signature that were similar.
Commander Strix was quiet, just as everyone else was. No one wanted to disturb him in fear of angering him.
A minute passed and soon ten minutes passed. Strix was starting to lose hope. "I found three energy signatures similar to yours, I am not sure if they are the same but you will come with to confirm." He said and grabbed her hand.
In a burst of speed they vanished leaving everyone stunned. Strix was blown away at the speed, it looked like she was on a ship in FTL.
They appeared outside a run down place. Looking around she came to the conclusion. "This is balmo, its a slave world." She said, Gohan opened the door and made his way in and saw three people in chains.
Strix made her way in. "Mama! Papa!" She said as she ran to them and hugged them. She grabbed the chains and crushed them in her hands and picked up her brother who was asleep.
The parents were dirty and looked extremely malnourished.
"You are free now. Let's go. We have to leave" She said. Gohan could hear it in her voice she really wanted to vanish, perhaps she was afraid that he would suddenly turn on them.
"Do you have a planet that you want to go to?" He asked. She nodded.
"Its a neutral world call Kelmore, it is twenty three thousand light years north from here." He nodded.
"Who is he?" Her father asked. She smiled.
"A god." Her parents looked at her incredulously. But before they knew it they were zipping through space. When they snapped out of their reveries they were already on the planet.
"Here you go." Gohan said. She nodded.
"Thank you so much my lord." Gohan shock his head. "Don't worry about it." He was about to leave she asked.
"Whats your name?"
"My name is Gohan, but I have another name, Indominus." He said.
"Thank you Lord Gohan!" She said. He nodded and vanished and after a few minutes appeared back at the palace.
Everyone got a fright at his sudden return. "My lord!" The King said.
"Is everything fine now?" The king nodded.
"Thanks to you!" The King said as he got down on his knees. "As the the King of the Lou Empire I cannot thank you enough, a statue will be made to honor you!"
Gohan shook his head. "No need, I didn't do it for statues. I am curious how did an empire the same size as yours breach your world so fast?" Gohan asked.
"We had a traitor among us…we found out too late." The King said.
"Make sure it doesn't happen again. I won't be here to save you again." Gohan said, he suddenly felt a gnawing pain in his head.
'-han! Ca- you…ear me?' A female voice echoed in his head.
He crouched in pain. "My lord!" The king said in concern.
"Karen?" He muttered. "What is happening?" He asked himself.
'Why did I hear Karen's voice in my hea-' This time Gohan dropped down on all fours.
"Ahhh!" He groaned. 'Babe…-an yo-hear -e…?' Her voice asked this time louder but it was breaking in between.
Gohan looked back in the direction of earth. "What in the actual fuck is going on?" He swore in pain. The king was taken by surprise, Gohan's aura burst to life as he vanished in a violent burst of speed knocking the king back slightly. 'Is earth in danger?'
He flew through the universe at top speed. Making it back to earth in fifteen minutes, what took him hours at a casual speed was done in a fraction of the time. Arriving in the watchtower he found Batman and Flash
"Are you guys calling me?" He asked. Batman looked at Gohan.
"Gohan…no, we weren't." he answered.
"That's weird…I thought I heard Karen calling me." He said.
Flash walked up to Gohan. "You okay man?" He asked.
Batman's eyes narrowed slightly. "This might be more then we think it is. You are hearing her voice now as well?"
Gohan nodded, was he losing his mind. Then it hit him again. 'Ba-ca- yo-ear me' This time it was even harder to hear. And the pain was even greater.
"J'onn come to the monitor room asap." Batman said.
J'onn made his way over and saw Gohan.
"Gohan! When did you get back?" He asked.
"He just got back. He says he can hear Karen's voice." Batman said.
"Power Girl make your way to the monitor room asap." Most of the league was in the cafeteria at the moment.
Power Girl and Supergirl made their way into the room. "Gohan?"
"He says he can hear you calling for him? In his head." Batman said, they look at Gohan.
Concern made its way onto their faces as Gohan leaned against the wall sweating.
"It can't be me I am right here…maybe, he needs a doctor?" She said.
"Gohan, I am going to try and connect with your mind, let me in." J'onn said. He soon established a connection.
'J'onn this is urgent, please know Gohan isn't crazy…' The voice spoke directly into J'onn's mind. J'onn felt chills go down his spine.
"There is a Karen in his head…" He said a bit freaked out.
"He needs a doctor! You guys are playing with someone who is mentally ill." Max said.
Donna nodded. "If he has a Karen in his head then he has gone psycho!" She said.
"Listen. It sounds like it isn't coming from him." He said as he connected them all to Gohan's mind.
'All of you please stop being so fucking ignorant!' Karen's voice spoke. 'I am not some split personality from Gohan! He is unconscious in the real world, you guys were all created by his mind, this entire world is generated by his mind, his shadow power is keeping him comatose.'
There was stunned silence in the room. "Are you trying to tell me we are the fake ones?" Kara asked.
'Yes…and I don't know why but he can't hear me all that well, you guys can, so please let him know…' She said.
Gohan leaned forward as felt his mind rest, the weird static started to disappear.
"What just happened?" Gohan asked as he sweated.
The leaguers looked at one another, they were silent for a few seconds. "Well I think you need a doctor Gohan. You have created a persona of Karen in your head…" Gohan just slumped on the floor.
"I am losing my fucking mind!" He said frustrated as stood up and walked to Batman. "Please, do you know anyone who could help me?"
Batman nodded. "Yes, the best in the world. Go and rest in your room. I will get her to come." Gohan nodded and left.
Back in reality…
"What the hell! What the fuck is wrong with them!" Karen swore as Whis stared at Gohan's unconscious form.
His staff glowing. "I can't do anymore, the most we can do is try and communicate with him, but judging by the sound of it, he can't hear us, and everyone around him thinks he has lost his mind." Whis said. "The shadow power must be manipulating everyone in his head, it doesn't want him to wake up."
"I did tell Gohan to exercise caution but I didn't think it would trap him in a nightmare, that dark shadow power will consume his mind if he doesn't master it soon." Whis said.
Flash frowned.
"We need to try and get him to train and forget about the voices, I hate to say this…but he will have to accept that reality." Dinah said, her years of counseling coming in. "If Whis can drop subliminal messages in that reality to train and master the power he should be able to come back on his own, unfortunately this stunt we just pulled set us back a few months." Dinah frowned
"What!? No way! I can't have him living in that world thinking I hate him. If I was stuck in that position I would lose my mind!" Karen said.
"We don't have a choice Karen, he has to believe that you guys are not together, he has to believe that he lost his mind slightly." Dinah said softly. They watched on Whis's staff as Gohan set on his bed, he was shaken.
Back with Gohan…
"Karen…" He said as he leaned back and shock his head. "Come on, man forget her, she is with someone else! She doesn't love you anymore." A overwhelming sense of depression hit him. "Not like she ever did…It wasn't real…"
He sighed and closed his eyes and just laid on the bed.
Back in reality…
"I-I can't watch this…" She backed up, her voice cracked as she walked away. The others didn't make a move to stop her, they could never imagine what she was going through, having to watch the person you love be forced to fall out of love with you.
They knew that if they were being realistic, especially as a warrior Gohan would have to clear his mind to be able to train properly, and that would mean forgetting about Karen as he watches her with another man.
Hello everyone! This was quite the chapter, also I checked the channel analytics and saw that only 157 people have read and I had like 12 reviews already, damn chapter 26 must have really hit you guys different, I have a chapter on 6k views with 20 reviews, I wrote this chapter quite fast, I finished it literally the same day I post chapter 26, but I held off on posting it because reading your reviews was amazing, your engagement with the story is fun to watch, but yeah this arc is a psychological one, we had a lot of fights with fists, now its a crisis for Gohan who believes he is losing his mind and his friends can only sit back and watch. Man you guys must be really invested in Gohan's relationship with Karen, but that is what I strive to achieve as a writer, I want to make my readers feel the anguish the characters feel, its the only way they will truly enjoy the story, you guys must have thought FINALLY they are together! After Bell and all the trouble this man went through, the foreshading of Gohan and Karen's relationship, now it could all come crashing down :), but there is no way I would let you guys sit on this cliffhanger for more than two days, it would be cruel, so I finished it ASAP, just to give you some closure! Now you guys have an idea of whats happening! Also for anyone confused, Gohan's mind is generating this world, and it is related to the shadow power he has but hasn't mastered, the empire and all those things he heard about before he fell unconscious.
