Chapter 54 The Earth Queen
Sean watched as Kai was being trained by Jinora.
"You did the right thing you know." Korra said making him sigh.
"Maybe. But something tells me he's gonna be a problem." Sean said.
"Maybe. But knowing we can help him is a good feeling." Korra said.
Thats when Bumi was knocked off his feet making them laugh before he noticed his wallet was missing before seeing Kai with it.
"Give me that you little Thief!" Bumi yelled chasing him making them laugh more.
"I guess some habits are hard to break." Sean said before Tenzin approached them.
"It's so exciting to be on a diplomatic mission to Ba Sing Se. What's the Earth Queen like?" Korra asked Tenzin.
"I've never met her, but I've heard she can be quite demanding." Tenzin said.
"Oh great. Another Tyrant." Sean said thinking of Unalaq.
"I highly doubt she's anything like him." Korra said reassuring him.
Thats when Bolin rushed to the rails.
"This is it, Mako! We made it!" Bolin yelled.
"Calm down." Sean said.
"I wonder how many Airbenders are down there." Korra said.
"We're about to find out." Sean said.
Passing the first ring however though it was absolutely horrible by sight and smell.
"EW!" Joey yelled disgusted.
"Oh my god!" Sean said disgusted.
"Ugh. I don't want to raise kids here!" Korra said.
"I'm not making any business plans here." Seto said disgusted.
Soon they made it to the middle ring.
"Now this is more like it." Tristan said.
"Whats with the rings anyway?" Duke asked.
"Oh like most societies there are three classes. Low, Middle and High ranking ones." Sean said.
"So the rings represent each type of person who lives here?" Tea asked.
"Mostly. But it looks worse than what Katara told me and Korra when we were kids." Sean said.
Thats when they made it to the upper ring.
And the palace was made of gold.
"Now this is more like it...OW,OW,OW!" Kai yelled as Sean pulled his ear real hard.
"Boy I am warning you real good. Do NOT go back to your old ways." Sean said as Kuriboh squeaked on his shoulder.
"Wow. Look at all the gold." Yellow said making Sean growl before kicking him up making him scream in shock.
"I hate those fuckers." Sean said annoyed before they landed and got off and were greeted by some servant
"Avatar Korra, Lord Kruger and Master Tenzin, It is a pleasure to welcome you and your party to the Upper Ring of Ba Sing Se. I am Grand Secretariat Gun." Gun said bowing.
"Thank you." Korra said bowing a little but found it difficult because of her stomach.
Thats when Bolin along with Naga and Oogi appeared before he sniffed the air.
"Ahh, it's got that upper ring Smell." Bolin said before Sean hit him. "OW!" Bolin yelled.
"You dumbass." Sean said.
"Oh, no. The Queen hates animals. We've got to get them out of sight." Gun said.
"Well, I can stash Pabu in my shirt. These two are gonna be a little tougher." Bolin said.
"Come with me, hurry. I'll take you to your quarters." Gun said leading them away. "Now, when you meet the queen, make sure you bow low enough. That's very important. And don't look her in the eye, she can't stand that. If any food is served. don't eat before she eats. Oh, actually, I have to taste her food first, Then she eats, then you can eat. Better yet, just don't eat." Gun said. (Oh my god)
"Sounds like a bunch of dumb rules." Joey said. As they were walking however though Kai spotted a noble with some gold around her in every place making him grin before splitting off from the group. (Not that person anymore he says! I'm generally surprised Korra didn't chew him out for betraying her trust)
"Oh, you have no idea, and I'm the one who gets in trouble when people don't follow them, so Please, Please, for my sake, just try not to upset her majesty." Gun said leading them into a house. "Now go in and make yourselves comfortable and keep those animals out of sight in the backyard. If you'd like to meet the Earth Queen you should follow me." Gun said about to lead them.
"Maybe you should stay here." Sean said making Korra smile.
"Sean, I'm just pregnant. Not useless. I'll be fine." Korra said.
"All right." Sean said as they left.
Arriving at the palace they saw the queen observing her servants.
"Your Majesty, May I present Avatar Korra and her Husband Lord Kruger." Gun said.
"Your Ruining the Koi Pond! It's completely overshadowed by the topiaries! Guards, Take that Buffoon away and get me someone who knows what they're doing!" The Queen yelled making Sean and Korra look at each other.
"You still think she's not as bad?" Sean asked making her sigh.
"I've been wrong before." Korra said.
"So I finally get a visit from the Avatar and the halfbreed Ancient Human. Let me guess, you want something." The Queen said.
"Well, as it happens we were hoping you could..." Korra tried to say.
"I hardly think you're in a position to ask me for favors after everything the last Avatar did to the Earth kingdom." The Queen said.
"Meaning what?" Sean asked.
"Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Zuko stole land from my empire during my father's weakness. Paradise City is Earth Kingdom territory and everyone there is my servant." The Queen said.
"Excuse me?" Sean asked annoyed.
"You heard me. Not that you care. But whats left of my kingdom is falling to ruin and it is the Ancients fault." The Queen said before Sean slapped her much to her shock.
"Want to say that again?" Sean asked taking out Gilford the Legend's sword making her gulp.
"Oh boy." Korra said.
Meanwhile
"Hey, Has anyone seen Kai?" Turok asked before they looked around.
"Kai?" Tenzin asked.
"He's not in here." Bumi said.
"I don't think I've seen him since we landed." Asami said.
"I knew that kid was bad news. The second we landed he must have left us to misuse his new power." Seto said.
"Come on you can't blame him for being the way he is. He's been all alone his whole life. How do you think he was gonna turn out? Some habits are difficult to get rid of." Serenity said.
"I'm with Kaiba on this. We should have handed him to the police when we had the chance." Joey said.
"Look arguing about this is pointless. Lets just go find the punk and bring him back. We'll let my brother decide what to do with him." Turok said.
"Fine. Bolin and I will go look for him." Mako said as they left.
"What do you think Sean's gonna do to him?" Mokuba asked.
"The most likely outcome? He takes his bending away." Seto said.
"Thats kinda harsh." Tea said.
"Maybe but he deserves it if he's stealing again." Seto said.
Meanwhile
"NO TO YOUR LEFT! YOUR OTHER LEFT! Do you have these problems with your servants?" The Queen asked.
"I don't have servants." Sean said annoyed.
"Listen, the reason for our visit is that we're trying to gather all of the new airbenders who are popping up in the Earth kingdom, and we'd like your help finding the ones in Ba Sing Se." Korra said.
"Airbenders in Ba Sing Se? Where did you hear that?" The Queen asked.
"We've gotten reports from all over the place." Sean said.
"Hmm. Well, before I even consider helping you, I'll need you to do something for me." The Queen said.
"And that would be?" Sean asked.
"I have a vault full of Tax money sitting in a town south of here. Barbarians have stolen my past two shipments. Go collect my money and bring it back here." The queen said making them frown.
"Fine I'll get it." Sean said as they left.
"I hate her." Korra said.
"Yup. Anyway I'll take Rafael and Alister to pick up the gold. You just stay at the house." Sean said.
"Sean, I'm not..." Korra said.
"No. I am not gonna put you in the middle of a fight in your condition. Especially when your having four kids." Sean said making her sigh holding her large stomach.
"Ok you make a point." Korra said as he kissed her making her smile. "I can't help but wonder if your gonna be overprotective when these kids are born." Korra said.
"Oh fucking please." Sean said making her laugh.
Walking back to the house they noticed a few missing.
"Wheres Mako, Bolin and Kai?" Sean asked.
"That little punk ditched us as soon as we landed here." Joey said.
"No doubt using his bending for his own gains." Rafael said making Sean frown before looking at Alister.
"This is why you don't do something generous to a rotten thief. It comes back to bite you in the ass." Sean said making him sigh.
"Whatever. So how'd the meeting go?" Alister asked.
"The queen is a rotten bitch just like Eska was. We have to go an collect some tax money from some town. In exchange she'll help us find our Airbenders." Sean said.
"Lets get going." Seto said as they left.
"Man I hate this damn place." Reznov said.
"Katara said it was good when the King was in charge. Now his daughter ruined everything." Korra said.
"Next Line rulers will do that at times." Julia said reading a book.
Meanwhile
Mako Tsunami was getting some reports on the Norhtern Water Tribe.
"I told you before. Unalaq's flawed ways are done. Theres no need for continuous spiritual matters anymore since the Ancients keep them in line. Focus on real important matters like making sure the people are treated fairly and have the needs they need to survive." Mako Tsunami said.
"At least you actually care about the people." Tonraq said walking in with Zuko.
"Tonraq, Fire Lord Zuko. This is a surprise. No one told me you were coming." Mako Tsunami said.
"This is an urgent Matter. Three high level criminals have just recently escaped. Their coming for the final one who's in a remote prison that was built here during Unalaq's time." Zuko said.
"I'm aware of this prison but I was told it only held one prisoner. Is she really that dangerous?" Mako Tsunami asked.
"More than you could ever imagine. One of them alone could take down any Bender. Together they could fight a high level Ancient with some difficulties." Zuko said.
Meanwhile
Sean and the others landed right at the town they were supposed to go to.
"What is with this dump?" Seto asked as they walked out seeing it in shambles.
"The queen clearly doesn't care about her own kingdom and just her own selfish needs. Can't say I'm surprised." Sean said.
"This is part of the reason we worked for Dartz. People like her make me sick." Alister said.
"Can't fault you for that one." Sean said as they made their way to the bank to collect the Tax money.
When they got it however thats when they heard engines making them look seeing what were clearly bandits driving to them.
"Hold it." Sean said slamming his sword down before the Leader stopped.
"I know you. Kruger right? The Half Ancient who saved the world twice."
"I am. I'm guessing you guys aren't Bandits are ya?" Sean asked.
"No. That gold belongs to the people. The Queen has been demanding we hand everything to her or she'll have everyone executed just because she says she can!"
Sean growled annoyed.
"Well?" Seto asked.
"Keep the gold. It is yours." Sean said.
"Thanks." As his men picked it up.
"I'm going to murder that tramp when I see her!" Sean said as they left.
Meanwhile
Korra was on the couch at her home using waterbending on her stomach with a small smile.
"You seem happy." Asami said sitting next to her.
"Yeah, well you enjoy peace and quiet like this while it lasts." Korra said as she held her stomach. "When I found out I was pregnant with four I was pretty shocked." Korra said since she never planned for four in one go.
"Yeah I remembered you fainted." Asami making her glare as she giggled.
"But I finally accepted it." Korra said.
"So do you know the Genders yet?" Asami asked.
"Mmm, No. Sean and I both decided to have a surprise." Korra said before she felt a kick making her giggle. "Oh someone in there is gonna be a pro Bender soon." Korra said making Asami laugh.
However suddenly a few men broke through the windows shocking them before they rushed at Korra.
However Vorse Raider and Swam and Lava Battlguards stopped them as they tried to smash them.
"Stand aside. The Children of the Ancient halfbreed will be ours."
Korra was shocked by this but knew fighting could harm one of her unborn children as Ruby stood in front of her protectively hissing at them before more Ancients appeared.
Seeing they were outmatched the armed assailants pulled out a smoke bomb and vanished.
"Find them!" Vorse Raider yelled as the other Ancinets went looking for them.
Korra sighed in relief before Naga rushed in and rubbed against her.
"I'm ok girl. Just need to rest." Korra said as Sean and the others came in.
"What the hell?" Sean asked rushing to Korra.
"I'm ok. Some guys just came after me. They were after the babies." Korra said as he held her close.
"Kinda suspicious if you ask me." Seto said.
"Meaning?" Yami asked.
"We go to pick up some tax money and find it in ruins because the queen is forcing people to give her everything they own. And armed men come in to try and kidnap Korra when she's due almost any day now. I think the queen set this up to get the biggest threat away from that plan." Seto said.
"It does make sense. With you gone they would have had better chances." Asami said making Sean snarl.
"I'll deal with her myself." Sean said,
Meanwhile
Tonraq, Zuko and Mako Tsunami were arriving at the Hidden Prison in the North.
"So I understand this prison was built during Unalaq's time. But why?" Mako Tsunami asked.
"This isn't an ordinary prison. This one was built by Unalaq 15 years ago." Zuko said.
"15 years? Isn't that around the same time the Ancients showed up after Kruger was unfrozen?" Mako Tsunami asked.
"Exactly. You see 15 years ago she and a large group of others attempted to Kidnap both Korra and Sean. They knew what he was before we did. But they didn't tell and I was sure Unalaq sent them." Tonraq said as they got into an Elevator.
"What is her name again?" Mako Tsunami asked.
" Her name is P'li. And she's a unique firebender who can cause explosions with her mind...Ironically, I hired a with a similar ability to kill the Avatar myself once." Zuko said making both look at him. "Didn't work." Zuko said.
"Clearly. But I thought you two were on good terms back in your younger days." Mako Tsunami said.
"This was before that." Zuko said as they got off.
"It's freezing in here." Mako Tsunami said.
"For good reason. It's to keep her from using any of her firebending." Zuko said as they walked to her cell.
"It's been years since anyone has visited me since the Ancients took us out." P'li said.
"Don't get used to it." Tonraq said making her chuckle.
"He's out isn't he? I'm feeling warmer already." P'li said grinning.
Meanwhile
The queen waited impatiently for her tax money before Sean walked in.
"Where is my Tax Money?" The Queen asked before seeing him glare with his puzzle glowing as he snarled at her.
"With the people since it belongs to them. Since you've been stealing from your own people!" Sean yelled making her yelp before screaming as several savage looking Ancients appeared. "I went to the town like you said and found it in ruins! Because of you! Your kingdom is crumbling because of your own self interests that only benefit you!" Sean yelled as Armored Lizard growled at her.
"Now wait a minute here! I am the queen! What I do with my kingdom is my business! If I want to take the gold they own so be it!" The Queen yelled before Black Tyrano roared at her making her scream in fright.
"Your job is to serve your people! Not the other way around! Hence why as of this moment the Ancients are stepping in. The Gold you took from every town will be returned. If it was used to build this place it will be torn down and returned to them! Every Valuable YOU stole will be given back!" Sean yelled shocking her as he neared her. "And thats not the reason I'm in a royally pissed off mood!" Sean yelled.
"Um...What exactly has you so angry?" The Queen asked respectively.
"I just got back and learned some people tried to kidnap my pregnant Wife! Now how would they know where she was since we just got here?" Sean asked with the eye on his head glowing.
"Um...I don't know...Maybe they were spying on you for Bakura?" The Queen asked making him roar at her making her shriek.
"DO NOT TAKE ME FOR A FOOL YOU BITCH!" Sean yelled.
"Lets calm down now." The Queen said.
"SHUT UP!" Sean roared shocking her. "If I find out you had anything to do with this! You can kiss your entire kingdom goodbye when you get sent to the Shadow Realm!" Sean yelled before blasting a gold statue of herself to nothing making her tremble as he left with the Ancients.
Meanwhile
Tonraq, Mako Tsunami and Several Ancients stood guard to make sure that Zaheer and his freed allies couldn't get to P'li.
Thats when Zuko landed with his dragon.
"See anything?" Tonraq asked.
"Nothing. I don't understand. Why aren't they here already?" Zuko asked confused.
"Perhaps they realized we would increase our defenses and decided not to press their luck." Mako Tsunami said.
"No...Thats not it. Something is wrong." Tonraq asked.
Under the prison P'li glared at the Cell doors in front of her before she heard some cracking behind her making her look seeing the wall break apart before Ming-Hua appeared.
"Miss me?" Ming-Hua asked making her grin before she cut off her restrains making her sigh in relief.
"How'd you get past all them?" P'li asked.
"A little spell Zaheer just discovered in Wang Shi Tong's Library. Said it would be perfect to use here." Ming-Hua said.
"Lets get the hell out of here." P'li said.
Thats when the Elevator came down as Tonraq and the others rushed out seeing them gone.
"They snuck under us to avoid fighting us knowing they couldn't take us all on." Mako Tsunami said making Tonraq growl worried for Korra in her current condition.
"I need to find my daughter." Tonraq said.
"Last I checked she was going around the world searching for new Airbenders." Zuko said.
Meanwhile
"So you both think the queen sent you away so she could kidnap Korra to take her children away." Tenzin said.
"With him gone she figured she had a better chance. Only the Ancients got in the way because their keeping an eye on her." Seto said.
"And now her rule is coming to an end. After that stunt she's gonna lose everything because she's been misusing her power for herself." Sean said.
"Wonder how the Titans dealt with her in their universe?" Joey asked.
"We'll ask soon enough. Right now I wanna find those Airbenders and get the hell out of here before something happens because of that tramp and makes Korra go into Labor early." Sean said.
"We haven't seen a single one since we got here." Tristan said.
"Maybe the reports were false to lore Korra here to get her." Mai said.
"No, the Reports were real. They came from both humans and Ancients." Seto said.
"So where the hell are they?" Turok asked.
"We know." Mako said as he and Bolin rushed in.
"Where have you guys been?" Duke asked.
"Chasing Kai. That little punk stole our money and left us in the lower ring." Mako said.
"But we did meet our lost relatives and our grandmother so it wasn't that bad." Bolin said.
"Well, thats good for you but I am going to kick his ass when I see him again." Sean said.
"Me first." Joey said.
"Knock it off." Mai said.
"Now what are you talking about?" Sean asked.
"The Earth Queen's been secretly taking Airbenders and forcing them into her army." Mako said making Sean glare.
"So thats why we couldn't find any of them. She already got to them before we got here." Yami said.
"Appears so. Question is where are they?" Marik asked.
"She would keep them somewhere out of sight." Odion said.
"What about Lake Laogia?" Jinora asked.
"Lake what?" Tea asked.
"It was an old facility used during the hundred year war. It was where the Dai Li trained new recruits and brainwashed people too serve their leader so he could manipulate the king." Sean said.
"If it was over 70 years ago that place has got to be totaled by now." Alister said.
"It's worth a shot." Sean said.
Later
Jinora was using her out of body spirit technique she learned from studying with the Ancients.
"Anything?" Valon asked.
"Nothing. The whole place is totaled like Alister said." Jinora said.
"So where else would they take 'em?" Joey asked making Sean glare before Kuriboh jumped on his shoulder bouncing.
"What is it buddy?" Sean asked as a sphere appeared of the Queen's palace.
"Whats he showing us that for?" Tristan asked.
"I think we just found our location." Sean said.
Later
Everyone was once more back at the house to discuss what they learned.
"I cannot believe they were right under us the whole damn time." Korra said annoyed.
"We have to get into that compound tonight and get those airbenders out." Tenzin said.
"All right, we go in under the cover of darkness. Two small insertion teams and a third on the outside. Then all we'll need is 12 tons of blasting jelly..." Bumi tried to say before someone knocked on the door.
"If that is the queen so help me God." Sean said before opening it but to his surprise it was Lin.
"Lin? What are you doing here?" Tenzin asked as she walked in.
"We need to get Korra and Sean out of here immediately. Their lives are in danger." Lin said.
"What? What in the world are you talking about?" Sean asked.
"I just got word from Lord Zuko and Tonraq." Lin said.
"Why is Lord Zuko with my dad?" Korra asked.
"Zaheer and the others have escaped." Lin said.
"How is that possible?" Tenzin asked.
"Because Zaheer is an airbender now." Lin said.
"No." Tenzin said in shock.
"HEY!" Sean yelled startling them. "Will you two stop ignoring us." Sean said.
"Yeah I'm confused too." Joey said.
"Who's Zaheer?" Seto asked.
"And why are our lives in danger? You sound like the worst threat to man is here." Sean said making them look at each other before sighing.
"Shortly after you were discovered in the Cave...Zaheer and a large group of others attempted to Kidnap both of you. Luckily Mahad and other Ancients defeated them and sent them to the Shadow Realm. Zaheer and three others however were captured and placed in prisons designed to impair their abilities. Originally the White Lotus was charged with guarding them but after they were exposed the Ancients took over. We were concerned others may try so we kept both of you in the South." Tenzin said.
"So thats why you kept us down there as we trained." Korra said.
"It was for your own good. And at the time we still didn't fully know what Sean was. But Mahad before we knew what and who he was told us Sean was a Guardian. We just didn't know what that meant at the time. And Zaheer and the others knew it as well but didn't say what he was. And more importantly there was another reason we kept you both down there." Tenzin said.
"Meaning?" Yami asked.
"We had reason to believe Unalaq sent them down there." Lin said.
"Unalaq? Why?" Sean asked.
"Because of the timing. Remember how he tried to take you the first time?" Tenzin asked.
"Yeah?" Sean said.
"We had reason to believe that Unalaq sent them because of the timing. Not to mention no one else but him and the White Lotus knew you were even down there." Tenzin said.
"Why didn't you just get rid of them?" Sean asked.
"We wanted to at first but believed that eventually they may have cracked and tell us everything. Sadly they never did. And with Unalaq in prison for his crimes we considered the matter settled." Lin said.
"Did you ask him when he was sentenced to life in prison?" Sean asked.
"Yes and he still refused to answer us. We know he had to since the timing was just too close." Tenzin said.
"I'm taking you both back to Paradise City." Lin said.
"Hold up. I'm not gonna put innocent people in danger. If we go back they may end up using people there as Leverage and the damage they cause there will damage the City's reputation and I'm not gonna have that." Sean said.
"Nor am I." Seto said.
"What do you suggest then?" Lin asked.
"That we keep on the move until we can figure something out or go someplace that will be difficult for them to get into." Sean said.
"The Airship has everything we need and a medical room and crew incase Korra goes into Labor early." Asami said.
"It's better than staying in just one place where they'd expect us." Joey said.
"I agree." Yami said.
"Fine." Lin said.
"Besides we got Airbenders to rescue anyway." Sean said.
Later
At the location where the Airbenders were being held a guard groaned as he was knocked out.
"Ok lets go." Sean said.
Up above Korra was on Asami's airship looking down before sighing as she held her stomach.
"You ok?" Tea asked.
"No. I didn't plan this but I got used to it pretty quick. It was supposed to be a good and easy thing. Now it's turned into a nightmare because of some thugs my uncle sent after me and Sean 15 years ago." Korra said.
"I'm sure everything will be just fine." Ishizu said.
"I hope so." Korra said.
Sean and the others rushed out with the Airbenders before the Dai Li showed up surrounding them.
"And we've walked into a trap." Rafael said.
"So you discovered my elite army. I see their loyalty still needs some work." The Queen said.
"I knew you were vile the second we fucking met. You sent those fuckers after Korra and sent me away to make it easier to take her." Sean said with his puzzle glowing.
"So what if I did? I have grand plans for those brats inside her. The Power of the Ancients to use as I see fit. First I'll take back the land That Bastard stole from me years ago. Then I'll take control of this universe and then the others and then the entire Multiverse! I'll rule everything that ever Lived! I'll Be the ULTIMATE QUEEN!" The Queen yelled insanely making Sean sweatdrop.
'It's delusions of Grandeur like this that sets you up for failure before it even starts.' Sean said.
"Not happening. I'm taking these benders and I'm leaving and you are staying away from my kids." Sean said making her scoff.
"Your threats mean nothing. Your old news compared to those brats that will be mine to control to do as I see fit. Kill him and then bring the Avatar to me." The Queen said expecting it but yelled in shock when her agents were engulfed in dark shrouds of the Shadow Realm before they yelled in horror as they vanished.
"Ok you pissed me off." Sean said as Exodia and his counterparts appeared before they started wrecking everything the queen had making her scream in horror.
"Now thats what I call punishment. Instead of killing her you watch as she losses everything." Rafael said.
"Lets go." Sean said as they vanished.
Appearing on the Airship the Airbenders sighed in relief.
"Finally." Kai said before Sean slugged him into a wall hard making him groan. "Ok I deserve that." Kai said.
"Your going to jail." Sean said shocking him. "I warned you if you screwed up there would be consequences. You used us again! Stole money from people and laughed about it when you escaped Mako and Bolin. Why would I ever trust you again?" Sean asked making him lower his head.
"I'm sorry. I just...I guess I haven't changed as much as I thought. I do want to though." Kai said making him scoff.
"Forget it. You blew it." Sean said about to take his bending.
"Enough." Mana said appearing next to him. "He's just a kid. You could have ended up the same way if raised like this. But you were raised with Morals and taught by those who showed you right from wrong." Mana said making him frown before looking at Kai.
"Ok...I won't take your bending. But I am going to make you change in a more...How shall I say...Painful fashion." Sean said.
"Huh?" Kai asked.
Later
Both airships landed to load up the Airbenders to Lin's to take them to the Air Temple.
Kai right now had some symbol on his head.
"Uh what is this supposed to do?" Kai asked making Sean laugh. "What?" Kai asked.
"I want you to think about your old habits." Sean said making him raise an eyebrow before.
"OW!" Kai yelled as he got electrocuted making Sean laugh. "What the hell?" Kai asked.
