Chapter 67 The Final Duel
Everyone was on a boat in the duel monsters universe heading to Atem's final resting place.
"You know this takes me back to Duelist kingdom long before you guys showed up." Joey said.
"Oh yeah? I wonder if Pegasus will hold another?" Sean asked.
"Before we get there theres something you should know." Marik said.
"Oh great I knew this was coming." David said.
"What is it?" Titan Sean asked.
"Theres another Ancient passage inscribed above the millennium stone. It mentions a battle ritual." Marik said.
"Battle?" Korra asked.
"In order for the Pharaoh to enter the spirit world, he must first facd off against a worthy opponent and lose." Marik said.
"For what purpose?" Tenzin asked.
"I think I know. Losing is probably the greatest test of Character." Godzilla said.
"So we talking about old fashion dueling or modern?" Sean asked.
"Either one though obviously the second." Marik said.
"So...Who's gonna duel him? Only three people here have done so. Sean, Seto and Rafael. Sean won his duel against him in Battle City. Seto won because he forced his hand to save Mokuba from Pegasus. And Rafael won even when he used the seal 6 years ago." Korra said.
"Those are all good points." Sean said.
Later
Everyone was still heading to the final resting place of Atem.
"Hard to believe it's been 7 years since battle City and all this other stuff started." Joey said.
"Yeah. Feels like everything just flew by." Yugi said.
"And I've come a long way since then. And far enough to kick the Pharaoh's ancient Butt!" Joey said surprising them. "Ok maybe came out a little strong." Joey said.
"A little?" Yugi asked.
"Oh good lord." Reznov said.
"Now I meant to say I'd like a shot against the Pharaoh!" Joey said.
"It's too risky!" Yugi said.
"You'd lose." Tea said.
"Thanks for the support. But someone has gotta do it so why not me?" Joey asked.
"Because you're a joke." Seto said walking to them with Mokuba and Sean.
"You talking to me?" Joey asked annoyed.
"Don't you guys realize I've been waiting for this moment for years? I challenge you to the Ultimate Duel!" Seto said pointing at Yugi.
"You sure about this?" Yugi asked.
"HEY! I was in line first!" Joey said.
"Joey, you're good and all and have beaten some top notch duelists over the years. But Atem knows all your strategies which gives him the advantage. Our strategies on the other hand though are mixed which makes it more difficult." Sean said.
"Exactly." Seto said.
"Well, One of you two has the best chance of beating him. I'm just not sure which one." Yugi said.
"So how do we settle this?" Duke asked.
"I don't feel like dueling right now since both of us would need our full strength for tomorrow. So." Sean said pulling out a coin.
"Your seriously going to leave this to chance?" Seto asked.
"You got a better idea?" Sean asked.
"I'll take heads." Seto said.
"Tails for me then." Sean said flipping it as it flew in the air before landing on the ground showing.
"It's tails." Duke said making Seto glare.
"Two out of three?" Sean asked amused.
"Very funny." Seto said as the others left.
"There is a few things I need from you though." Sean said.
"I think I already know. It's not hard to figure out." Seto said.
Later
Sean was in his room having gone through every card he would need for this.
"Almost forgot." Sean said pulling out his Tri Horned Dragon. "You helped me win in the Battle City Tournament against Seto and helped out along the way. Theres no way I'm leaving you out." Sean said putting him in.
Thats when someone knocked on his door.
"Come in." Sean said before Tea walked in. "Where are the girls?" Sean asked.
"Korra and Ishizu are watching them." Tea said looking at his deck.
"You don't want him to go do you?" Sean asked.
"It's not easy saying goodbye like this." Tea said.
"No...It's not. But we both know it has to be done. Besides...Others from his time are waiting for him." Sean said.
"Yeah...I guess they are." Tea said.
"Think of it this way. You'll always cherish the memories you have with him over the years." Sean said making her smile.
Seto and his family were in his room as Asami placed Amara in her crib.
"Your not still sore about not getting to duel him are you?" Asami asked.
"Hardly. I'm just thinking back when all this started seven years ago." Seto said.
"Yeah...We just got finished facing Anubis and not long after we ended up here because Meelo messed up Korra's spell for dumb reasons." Asami said.
"I'll be surprised if he ever ends up with someone." Mokuba said making Seto snort in amusement.
"Still...That screw up lead to some good things over the last 7 years." Asami said looking at her daughter who snored lightly.
"True. And now it all comes to an end tomorrow. Everything has been leading up to this." Seto said looking at the river.
Titan Sean was outside looking at the river.
'You know it's funny. 6 years ago in both universes while only a month for us we tracked down the last MUTOs that ended up in the Ancients universe...Now here we are.' Titan Sean said.
'Many events can lead to great things without even realizing it. The Kaiju war lead to our merging.' Godzilla said.
'True. You think theres gonna be another universe the Ancients and us are gonna help?' Titan Sean asked.
'I think we both know the answer to that without question.' Godzilla said.
'Yes.' Titan Sean said.
Sean sighed as he finally put the finishing touches to his deck.
"In this deck lies my most powerful and used cards. And I know they'll be used right in this duel." Sean said.
Next morning
Everyone docked and headed to the final resting place before they went underground.
"You ok?" Korra asked Tea.
"Yeah...I just wanted more time." Tea said.
"I know. But everything has to come to an end sooner or later." Korra said.
Soon they appeared by the Millennium stone.
"So thats it?" Joey asked.
"What did you expect? It's old." Sean said before Yugi walked to it with a bag that held the seven items while Sean prepared his Duel disk.
"Ready?" Korra asked.
"Yeah." Sean said walking to the stone as Yugi inserted the seven items into it.
"You know it's funny. In our universe the items were made by accident. Here they were made on purpose but still had the same effect." Turok said.
"For every universe there are differences but similarities. It just depends on the events of that universe and the universe in question." Seto said.
"True enough." Reznov said before Yugi placed his puzzle into the Stone before the eye above it glowed at Yugi.
Sean looked at his deck before inserting it into his duel disk as Atem was separated from Yugi.
"It's weird seeing you two together instead of sharing a body." Sean said.
"Yeah no kidding. Well, this is it. Good luck." Yugi said walking to the others.
"Just like Battle City all over again." Sean said making him smirk.
"Don't expect me to go easy on you." Atem said.
"Wouldn't have it any other way." Sean said as their duel disks activated before their life points went to 4000.
"I'll start things off. I discard one card from my hand to play a monster known as Tricky." Atem said as it appeared with question marks on it.

"Then I place one card face down. It's your move." Atem said.
"My pleasure. First I'll start things off by summoning Soul Tiger in defense mode. " Sean said as it appeared and roared.

"Next I play two cards face down and then I play my favorite field spell. Gift of Sanctity." Sean said as the treasure vault appeared.
"He's always playing that card." Mako said.
"It's his best. Not only does it keep his hand fully but it also lets him pick a card from his deck by discarding one from his hand. It's a perfect strategy." Seto said.
"I'll end things there." Sean said.
"My move." Atem said drawing his card. 'Attacking him with Soul Tiger would be pointless since it has no attack points. Unless.' Atem said. "I activate the magic card Shield and Sword. It switches the attack and defense points of every monster for one turn. Which means your Tiger now has 2100 attack points. Then I activate the spell card Rebellion. This lets me take control of your monster and attack you directly." Atem said as Sean was slashed making him growl.
"Sean just lost half his life points already!" Joey yelled.
"Did I?" Sean asked shocking Atem as he had 5900 life points.
"But how?" Atem asked as Sean's face down was revealed. Nutrient Z.
"This increased my life points by 4000 before the attack went through. So in truth I didn't lose life points. I gained them." Sean said grinning. "And now I can activate my other trap card. Ancinet sacrifice of traitors. If one of my monsters attacked me I can sacrifice it for something in my hand. And I have just the perfect card. Red Eyes Black Dragon." Sean said as Joey's favorite card appeared and roared.

"Hey! Thats not cool." Joey said annoyed.
'I wonder what he's up to?' Seto asked.
"I end my turn with a face down." Atem said.
"My move." Sean said drawing his cards. "First I'll play one of my favorite cards. Painful Choice." Sean said before five dragons appeared.
Atem however narrowed his eyes seeing one in particular. Red Eyes Darkness Dragon.
"I'll let you keep Tyrant Dragon." Atem said as the rest went to the Grave Yard.
"Not like I'm keeping it. Next I play Monster Reincarnation to bring him back by discarding my Tyrant Dragon to bring back Red Eyes Darkness Dragon." Sean said as it came back. "Next I sacrifice my Red Eyes to summon it." Sean said as Red eyes exploded before a more powerful version appeared.

"WHOA! I've never seen this one before!" Joey said.
"Thats because it's brand new." Pegasus said chuckling.
"What does that mean?" Seto asked.
"This one lies within one of his children. Care to take a guess?" Pegasus asked looking at Alex.
"Figures. Famous name and God Level Ancient inside him." Tristan said as he smiled.
"And like my Shinning dragon it gains an extra 300 attack points for every dragon in the Graveyard. And theres currently five which gives it 1500 points." Sean said as it went to 3900. "Now attack his Tricky!" Sean yelled as it went for the attack.
"Not so fast. Go Swords of Revealing light." Atem said as the swords appeared. (Sora if you say I'm not following the rules again need I remind you the rules in real life and the Anime are completely different?)
"Why am I not surprised." Sean said annoyed.
"Man I hate that spell card." Turok said.
"I end things with a face down." Sean said.
"My Move. And I play my Necromancy Magic Card to bring back the dragons you sent to the Grave Yard." Atem said shocking him as four of his dragons appeared like Red Eyes and Tyrant Dragon. The other two were Luster Dragon 1 and Crawling Dragon.
"Thats weird. Why would he bring back his monsters? That just helps him." Joey said.
"Not exactly. With every dragon he just brought back his Darkness Dragon loses 300 attack points brining it to 2700." Seto said.
"But that still gives Sean the Advantage in numbers and attack points." Korra said.
"I think he did that for a reason." Moka said.
"I play my Tricky spell 4 magic card. This allows me to summon as many tricky tokens as you have monsters. And you have five." Atem said as Five Tokens appeared.
"I think I know what he's up to now." Seto said alarmed.
"I sacrifice 3 of my tokens to summon the Egyptian God, Obelisk the Tormentor!" Atem yelled shocking them as three Tokens vanished before Obelisk appeared and roared loudly.

"Now destroy his Darkness Dragon." Atem said as Obelisk pulled his fist back.
Only for Red Eyes to be destroyed.
"Whats this?" Atem asked surprised.
"I activated my face down magic card. Ancinet Dragon Shield. By sacrificing another dragon on my side of the field I saved my dragon." Sean said.
"I end with a face down." Atem said.
"My move and I play the Magic card Raviel's minions. I assume you remember this from Battle City. This lets me sacrifice three of my monsters for fiend tokens. And you get to summon one level 4 monster on the field." Sean said as his other dragons vanished brining his dragon back to 3900 attack points.
"I play queen's knight." Atem said as she appeared.

"Now I sacrifice my tokens to summon my sacred beast. Raviel, Lord of Phantasms." Sean said as his Obelisk look alike appeared and roared at Obelisk.

"And I'll end things with a face down." Sean said.
"Now things have gotten interesting. The Sacred beasts rival the Egyptian Gods." Seto said.
'If I attack his face down could make me attack his Sacred beast or could increase his dragon making it stronger than Obelisk.' Atem said. "I activate my face down card. Ancient God Ritual." Atem said.
"Hey." Sean said annoyed.
"This allows me to summon one level 10 or high monster from my hand by sacrificing two cards on my field. And I have two tokens to sacrifice after all. So I summon my second Egyptian God. Slifer the Sky Dragon." Atem said as Slifer appeared and roared at Sean.

"And since I have three cards in my hand it gains 1000 for each. And thanks to your field spell I will always have 6 cards every turn." Atem said.
"Great." Sean said since he couldn't attack for one more turn.
"And now I play my king's knight which with Queen's knight lets me play my Jack's knight." Atem said as they appeared.

"He's going to do it isn't he?" Asami asked alarmed.
"He's going to summon Ra next turn." Seto said.
"And I'll end things with a face down there." Atem said.
"My move. And I play three spell cards to sacrifice to summon my second sacred beast. Hammon! Lord of Striking thunder." Sean said as he appeared before roaring.

"And I'll play this. Nightmare steel cage." Sean said as it appeared on top of Atem.
"I know what this does. It prevents me from playing for two turns." Atem said.
"Good. And I'll end things there." Sean said as the swords were gone.
"The time has come for me to play my Final Egyptian God. I sacrifice my knights in order to summon my Winged Dragon of Ra." Atem said as they slowly vanished."Almighty protector of the sun and the sky, I beg of thee, please, heed my cry. Transform thyself from orb of light and bring me victory in this fight. I beseech thee, Grace our humble game. But first I shall call thy name. Winged Dragon of Ra!" Atem yelled as Ra appeared in his orb form before transforming into his dragon form and roared.

"And I'll end things there." Atem said.
"It's a battle between the Egyptian Gods and the Sacred beasts." Seto said.
"My move." Sean said as he drew his cards. "I play three trap cards on the field to sacrifice in order to summon my final Sacred beast. Uria! Lord of Searing flames!" Sean yelled as Uria appeared and roared.

"Our monsters are almost all equal. However Ra has more attack points than Hammon." Atem said.
"Not for long." Sean said worrying him. "I increase his attack points with Axe of Despair." Sean said as he went up to 5000
"Now all of them are equal in terms of strength. It's a deadlock right now." Seto said.
"But why?" Asami asked holding Amara close.
"He's gonna sacrifice all of them to even the playing field." Seto said shocking them.
"Wait so he's just gonna have them destroy each other just like that?" Duke asked.
"It makes sense. This way they can't use their most powerful monsters like this." Asami said.
"Hold on your forgetting something here. His Darkness Dragon." Korra said.
"Thats right. If Sean attacks with his sacred beasts first his Darkness Dragon will have a clear shot at him." Joey said.
"Hammon destroy Ra!" Sean yelled as their attacks clashed before they destroyed one another.
"Thats one." Korra said.
Uria and Slifer blasted each other next before also destroying each other.
"Thats two." Joey said.
"You don't need to count you know." Seto said making him growl.
Obelisk and Raviel punched each other before destroying each other.
"Now they're all gone." Tea said.
"Red Eyes Darkness Dragon! Blast him!" Sean yelled as his dragon went for the attack.
However his dragon lost 1500 attack points bringing it to its original strength as it blasted Atem making him lose 2400 life points.
"What the?" Sean asked.
"Forget my face down magic card?" Atem asked showing it to be soul release. "I removed all five of your dragons from the GraveYard. Rendering it to its original strength. So I still have plenty of life points to spare." Atem said amused making him smirk.
"I end things there." Sean said.
"I haven't seen a duel this intense since you two dueled or when all three of you faced Dartz." Asami said.
"This is more than just a duel this time. If Sean wins Atem's spirit goes to the other side. If he loses however he'll never get that chance. But then again some of us here don't actually want that." Seto said.
"You included for a rematch." Asami said making him smirk.
"I'd be lying if I said no. But everyone else because they don't want to see him leave. Especially her." Seto said looking at Tea.
"I don't blame her though."
"I activate the Magic Card. Brain control." Atem said taking control of his Dragon. "And I'll attack you directly with it." Atem said as Sean lost 2400 life points brining him down to 3500. "And I'm not done yet. I play Cost down to Summon My Dark Magician." Atem said as he appeared.

"Now attack him directly." Atem ordered as Sean lost more life points brining him down to 1000.
"Oh man! Now their about equal." Bolin said.
"I'm not done just yet. I play one card face down and end my turn." Atem said.
Sean drew his cards before smirking.
"I play Pot of Greed to draw two more cards." Sean said drawing two more cards. "Next I play this. Polymerization." Sean said before three Blue Eyes appeared on the field shocking everyone while Seto smirked.
"You gave him your blue eyes white Dragons?" Mokuba asked.
"For one reason only." Seto said.
Thats when Ultimate dragon appeared before roaring at Atem.
"But I'm not done there. I sacrifice my Ultimate Dragon in order to summon MY ancient." Sean said as it cracked apart before Shinning Dragon appeared and roared.

"And don't forget for every dragon in my grave yard he gains 300 extra attack points. While you removed five I now have five more in there now." Sean said as it gained 1500 attack points. "And I'm not done there. I play Ancinet Dragon Summoning." Sean said.
"What does that do?" Atem asked alarmed.
"This lets me summon one more Dragon thats a lower level than the one currently on the field. And I choose my Tri Horned Dragon." Sean said as he appeared and roared loudly.

"Check it out. They both got their favorite monsters on the field." Julia said.
"This whole duel has proven they'll stop at nothing to win. Right now though Sean has the lead with his Shinning Dragon out on the field. One attack from that and he wins the duel." Seto said.
"Then why summon his Tri Horned Dragon?" Jinora asked.
"He knows something is gonna happen." Seto said.
"Shinning Dragon end this!" Sean yelled as he went on the attack.
"I reveal my face down card. Negate attack." Atem said.
"I knew it." Seto said.
Atem drew his next card.
"Sorry Sean...But the duel is over. I play the Magic Card Monster Reborn to bring by Slifer the Sky dragon." Atem said shocking them as his Egyptian God Card appeared with 5000 attack points.
'I guess this is it. Yugi and I were never meant to separate after all.' Atem said.
"I activate my Shinning Dragon's special ability." Sean said shocking him as his dragon started glowing. "I can destroy any card on the field by sacrificing my dragon." Sean said shocking everyone. (I'm annoyed that ability was only in the movie and not the card)
"SHINNING NOVA!" Sean yelled as Shinning Dragon destroyed the Sky Dragon leaving only Sean and Atem's best cards.
"I switch my magician to defense mode." Atem said knowing no cards in his hand could save him.
"I play my final Magic Cards. MegaMorph and Fairy Meteor crush which still causes battle damage" Sean said as his dragon's attack doubled. "Now...End this duel! ATTACK!" Sean yelled as his dragon charged at Dark Magician before slashing him in half and Atem lost the remainder of his life points.
The Duel was over.
Sean sighed as he sat down.
"Ok...That was intense." Sean said.
"Congratulations." Atem said making him smile.
"I'll be honest it's gonna be strange not having you around after seven years." Sean said before the eye glowed again.
"I guess this is it." Atem said stepping forward.
"All that is left for you to do is tell the Eye your name." Ishizu said
"I am the son of King Aknamkanon. My name is Atem!" Atem said before the doors opened up before he began to walk forward.
Tea and the others were about to step in but Titan Sean stopped them.
"Don't even think about it. This is for the best. Those from his time, his father included are waiting for him. Saying Goodbye is the most difficult thing a person can do to a loved one. Believe me, I know from experience. But making one stay when just for their sake is selfish and none of you are that. It is time to let go." Titan Sean said making them nod.
"Your right." Tea said as Atem appeared in Egyptian clothing before walking through the gateway as it closed for good.
"Goodbye Atem." Sean said.
Thats when the whole place shook.
"Now what?" David asked before the stone cracked apart and crumbed which sent the seven items deep underground.
"LETS GO!" Godzilla yelled as they rushed out of the place.
Rushing outside they saw the whole place collapse.
"So it's over? Feels weird." Tristan said.
"Yeah." Joey said.
"What were you expecting?" Seto asked.
"Fireworks, Happy music. Something. A nice speech would be nice." Joey said.
"How bout this? Where one adventure ends another begins. Either in this universe or another." Yugi said.
"Past events prove that one." Godzilla said.
"Oh yeah." Titan Sean said.
Authors Note: And with that Atem is where he belongs. It's really sad seeing him go but its where he belongs. Oh well. Next Chapter is the last one. I'm not as sad as I was last story to end another for some reason. It was good but I kept losing focus. Watching duels is one thing. Writing them is another. Read, Review, Fav and Follow.
