"Ah! What happened?!"
The group of people sitting in the entertainment room glanced around frantically as the lights and electronics began to flicker on and off for several seconds with a loud buzzing and sparking noise. Then, out of nowhere, the lights brightened to an almost blinding degree, and then turned off completely.
A few people made shocked noises as they were draped in darkness, it was so dark that none of them could see even an inch in front of their face.
"What the hell just happened?!" Joey yelled.
"Did the power go out? Is something wrong with the power in the city?" Bakura nervously questioned.
Yugi knew that could have caused the blackout. Mokuba had told him before that the mansion ran entirely on its own sustainable power, something Kaiba had done on purpose to make sure nobody could sabotage their home. So if it wasn't an outside source, then it had to have been something in the mansion.
He blindly reached out in front of him until he managed to grab his phone, and turned on his flashlight. One he was able to see, the young man got up and started to scan around the room. "Mokuba!" He called as he walked around the couch. "Are you there?!"
As the others followed his lead and grabbed their phones for light, they heard the sound of pounding footsteps from above them. It sounded like someone was running as fast as they could, was it Mokuba? Had something happened while he was in the attic?
Yugi quickly turned his light towards the entrance just as their young host emerged. Mokuba's clothes had become rumpled and dusty, his skin had gone pale, and his eyes were wide with what looked like shock. For several seconds he just stared at them, gasping for air.
"Mokuba?" Tea worriedly asked as she moved forward, reaching out to the younger man.
Tristan sent Yugi a worried glance, and looked back at their friend. "Everything okay, kid?"
Mokuba finally seemed to break out of his trance, and his frantic gaze scanned all of them one by one. "You guys… It's- It's Seto!" He croaked as he stumbled forward. "He's alive! I saw him, he's alive!"
Yugi felt a jolt of shock through his system, and was overwhelmed by confusion. Was that what had freaked him out? How did he know? Had Mokuba seen something, or did he just have a feeling? "Mokuba, what are you talking about?" He carefully asked.
The young man pointed back towards the stairs. "In the attic! There was- There was a computer! I turned it on and everything freaked out, there was a message! Seto's in space, he's alive, but he needs help! He asked for help!"
The older adults glanced back at each other in the dim light, and Yugi could tell they all had similar feelings about their friend's claims.
Mai quickly crossed over to Mokuba, leading him over to the couch. "Kid, I know it's rough right now, especially on his anniversary, but I think you may have been seeing things."
Mokuba tensed in her arms, and turned his shocked gaze towards her. "W-what?"
"Seto is… Y-you know…" Tea gulped, and looked to the others to figure out what they could say.
Joey, of course, had always been the type to be blunt. "Your brother has been dead for ten years, Mokuba. If he was gonna come back by now, he would have."
Their younger friend's shocked expression morphed into frustration. "You guys don't believe me?" When none of them spoke, he seemed to grow angrier. "He's alive, I know he is! He's come back before, why would this time be any different?!"
"All those times involved Shadow Magic, remember?" Tristan recalled. "But this time was different, it was some kind of meteor, there was an explosion. I don't think even he could survive that…"
"I know what I saw!" Mokuba snapped. "We have to go after him!"
Duke frowned and crossed his arms. "Go after him where? Even if the message was real, you don't know when or where it came from."
"No, no you don't get it! It was real, I know it was!" He began to hyperventilate as he glanced between them. "I saw my big brother, he asked for help, we have to help him!"
"You had a lot of beer tonight, it's been a stressful day…" Tea placated. "Maybe sleep on it and then we can-"
Mokuba jumped back to his feet, his legs hitting the coffee table and shaking the items on top. "I know what I saw! It was on the computer, it destroyed the computer but it was still there, guys!" He looked through at each of them, only for his large eyes to rest on one specific person. "Yugi, you believe me, don't you?"
The king of games froze as the attention was turned to him. "I… Well, I…." He gulped, and shamefully looked down. He really wished he could, he knew crazier things had happened, but he just couldn't seem to have faith this time.
An awkward silence fell over the room, with everyone else as silent as him. It seemed that nobody was quite sure how to break through it. The longer they stayed quiet, the more devastated Mokuba looked.
His eyes began to grow wet with tears as he squeezed them shut, and lowered his head. "You… You guys don't believe me…" He whispered, heartbroken. "You don't… I thought that…"
"Mokuba…" Tea reached out once more, but stopped herself a few feet away. Whatever comforting words she planned to say died before they reached her throat.
Their host stayed still, practically frozen, with tears running down his cheeks. After several deep, heavy breaths, he clenched his fists and began to shake. "Get out."
Yugi leaned back in surprise. "M-Mokuba? Wait, I know you're upset, give us a chance to explain-"
"GET OUT!" Mokuba grabbed one of the board game boxes, throwing it at them as hard as he could. "GET OUT AND LEAVE ME ALONE!"
The group quickly scrambled to leave, not even bothering to grab their things as they hurried to the door, it was obvious that nothing they said would calm the young man down, they had ruined their chance at that the second they responded with disbelief to his claim.
Once they were outside in the dark of the night, Yugi saw his wife place her head in her hands and sigh. "I didn't want to hurt his feelings like that… I just… I don't know!"
"We all saw the explosion…" Serenity whispered quietly. "I wish Mister Kaiba was still alive too, but there's no way he could have survived that…"
Bakura looked conflicted. "But those brothers have always shared a special bond. Perhaps we should have let Mokuba calm down and then explain?"
Joey shrugged. "Yeah, we should have… But that doesn't mean Kaiba is alive. I know the kid loves his big bro, but he has to accept that he's gone…" He ran a hand through his blonde hair. "Shit. How the hell are we gonna fix this?"
"I'll talk to him at work tomorrow." Yugi gave a determined expression. Out of all of them, he felt the most guilty for the way he reacted, especially after Mokuba's desperate plea to him. "By then, maybe he will have calmed down and we can both talk to each other."
Mai, who still had a guilty expression on her face, leaned against Joey and sighed. "Let us know how it goes, Yugi. This should have been a day to be there for him, I want to make up for this as soon as possible."
"I will, I promise." He looked back towards the mansion with his own saddened frown.
Yugi felt horrible for the way he reacted. He needed my support, but I couldn't bring myself to say anything… He knew they should have gone about it better. I'm your friend, Mokuba, and I hurt you, I'm sorry.
He took Tea's hand, and the couple followed their friends back to their waiting cars to head home. At this point, all he wanted to do was go home and get in bed. The sooner this hellish night ended, the sooner he could see Mokuba and try to repair the friendship they had damaged.
Mokuba didn't come to work the next day.
Or the day after that.
Or the week after that.
Or the month after that.
To say Yugi was worried would be an understatement. There had been times where his boss and friend had taken off for a few days, overwhelmed by the workload or simply needing a break, but he never disappeared without letting someone know where he was.
After a few days of this absence, all of them grew increasingly worried. They tried to call Mokuba, but their numbers were blocked. Emails were ignored, and questions to secretaries or Roland were returned as one-word answers. They'd really screwed up.
Three long months passed without a word from their friend. It was almost like Mokuba had vanished into the wind. The only confirmation they had that their friend was okay was Roland who, although angry at them, was kind enough to let them know their friend was still alive.
The worry started to bother all of them, to the point that they could barely do anything in their free time except desperately try to track down or search for their friend. The guilt and fear ate away at their friend group, and at this point it stopped being about wanting forgiveness. They just wanted Mokuba to be okay.
At his desk, Yugi hunched forward and groaned. "This is all my fault…" He whispered. "We've never had a fight like that. I know it's impossible but… But I should have listened. I should have let him talk."
He picked up a stack of papers, and walked down the hall to deliver them to the CEO's office. Usually, Yugi would take over if Mokuba was gone. This time, it was Roland who was doing the job.
Not that he was shocked. Roland had an even closer bond with Mokuba. After Seto's death, it turned out that Roland was written down as one of the few that Seto trusted to take care of his brother if he died suddenly.
Though no adoption papers were made public, everyone knew it: Roland was Mokuba's guardian, and not someone you wanted to trifle with… And after the stunt they had pulled, they were lucky Roland hadn't tied chairs to their ankles and thrown them in the ocean.
It made every interaction with him awkward, so Yugi made sure to take a deep breath before he opened the door. "Roland, I have the monthly reports of the-" He stopped, and gasped.
Standing in front of the desk where Roland sat was Mokuba. The young man looked different, his hair had been cut shoulder length, and he looked a little thin. But his eyes were the most curious change, as any warmth in them before was gone as he stared at Yugi with utter disdain.
"Mokuba…" Yugi croaked, nearly losing his grip on the reports in his hands.
The young man's gaze sharpened for a moment, and then he turned back to Roland. "I'll be going back now." He turned and stalked out of the room at a quick pace, without another glance towards Yugi.
Roland nodded grimly, not making a move to stop his ward nor ask Yugi to come closer. He stayed completely silent, as if waiting to see what each person would do.
The second in command looked at his boss, and then back towards the door. In a split second he made his decision, and shoved the door open to chase after his friend.
"Mokuba! Wait!" Yugi called as he caught sight of the dark haired young man hurrying down the hall. He followed behind him, having to nearly jog to keep up with his long strides. "Wait, please, listen! I'm sorry!"
His friend stopped mid-step, but didn't look back at him. It seemed like he could start walking again at any moment, so Yugi hurried to continue.
"I'm sorry, I didn't want to hurt you! I know how much you love your brother, how close you two are. It was wrong of us to just shoot down what you said! We should have listened!"
"It wouldn't have mattered."
Yugi blinked in confusion, and looked at the back of his friend. "What? What do you mean?"
Mokuba looked at him with that sharp gaze. "What's the point of apologizing for something you still believe? You think Seto is dead, you think I was drunk, or that I was losing it."
He opened his mouth to argue, only to quickly shut it again at the well aimed glare from the CEO. He knew the young man was right, that's exactly what they had done.
"If I really was that desperate to come up with a hope that Seto was alive, if I really was losing it, don't you think I would have said something like this ages ago?"
Yugi hunched his shoulders and lowered his head in shame.
Mokuba watched him do so, and made a noise of disdain. "I know what I saw, Yugi. My brother is alive, he's out there somewhere, and I'm going to find him. I don't care if you believe me or not."
With that last, harsh statement, the young man stalked down the hall again, leaving a shocked, ashamed King of Games in his wake.
"So you just let the kid walk away?" Joey exclaimed from his seat at the table. "It's been three months and you finally got a chance to talk to him, and you let him get away?"
Yugi felt a blush rise up his cheeks as he looked up at his friend with a glare. "I didn't mean to! I just… He caught me off guard!"
Tea gently took his hand, and squeezed. "What do you mean?" Her eyebrows pinched together worriedly. "Was he… Was he okay? Was he still freaking out?"
The young man quickly shook his head. "No, that's just it. He wasn't at all. He was so serious, like he knew exactly what he was doing, like he was on some kind of mission. In all my years of working with him, I've never seen him like that."
Bakura looked up from his book, despite having been staring at the same page for the past half hour. "Yugi… Do you think… That we were wrong?"
"Wrong? Wrong about what?" Tristan asked through a mouthful of hamburger.
Bakura sighed and set his book aside. "I'm talking about Kaiba. At first I had thought maybe Mokuba had turned his grief into denial… But it's been three months and you said he still believes he saw a message from his brother. Maybe he really did…"
"But that's impossible!" Joey exclaimed. "You saw the explosion, we all did! That satellite was blown to bits, there's no way anyone could have survived that!"
It was Tea's turn to look conflicted. She looked towards Bakura, and then back towards the group. "Maybe Mokuba was telling the truth… I'm not sure how in the world it would have worked, but if anyone was going to survive an accident like that, it would have been Kaiba."
Yugi squeezed her hand and nodded in agreement. "I… I feel the same. At first, I didn't want to believe it, I didn't want to give Mokuba false hope after this long. But those two have always had a strong connection. I think that there is a chance that what he was was real, that Kaiba is alive."
Joey took in his words, and then let out a soft laugh. "You know, you have a point. If anyone was gonna survive, it would be that stubborn asshole."
Tristain snorted. "You make a good point for once, Joey."
"For once!?" The blonde squawked
The other man ignored him and continued,"Think about it. Even after years, Kaiba was still trying to beat Yugi and Yami; And no matter what happened, no matter what he was facing, he never gave up! Especially when Mokuba was involved."
Bakura glanced between each of them with a proud smile. "I'm glad that you guys have the same feelings as me about this."
Tea nodded as she looked at her husband and the rest of their friends. "Okay. So if we agree that Mokuba may have a point, what can we do to help him now?"
They fell silent as they tried to think of a solution, but nothing came immediately. Even if Seto Kaiba had somehow survived, where could he be now? How was Mokuba expecting to find someone who supposedly died in the vast expanse of space?
"Listen, we know how the Kaiba bros work." Joey took a gulp of his soda. "If they're up to something, it's radio silence. Mokuba's up to something, and we need to figure out what."
Yugi slumped forward and looked ashamed. "You're right… But I'm not sure how to do that when he didn't even want to look at me, let alone talk to me. I was lucky I even saw him!"
Bakura made a thoughtful noise. "You said he was talking to Roland, what if we try him? I know he is mad too, but maybe if we can prove to him that we just want to help Mokuba, he'll understand?"
Though it was a good idea, Yugi couldn't help but shudder. Mokuba's guardian was scary when he wanted to be, and the king of games had been on the receiving end of his rage for the past three months.
Of course I am. He cares about Mokuba, and we hurt him. We need to make up for what we did… But if he doesn't let us speak to Mokuba, we can't do that. And if Mokuba never shows up again, we will never have a chance.
Eventually the young man looked up, and gave his friends a nod. "It's worth a shot."
Another long three months passed by, all the while Yugi was working tirelessly to try and get Roland to help them.
The others did what they could to help, though it wasn't much since Mokuba had practically blocked them from everything. Even trying to go to the mansion was useless, the gates were always locked tight.
Yugi tried to speak to Roland about Mokuba's behavior, but the man would always brush him off by claiming that he was fine.
He tried to explain that he was worried about what his friend was doing, only for Roland to tell him that Mokuba was an adult who could take care of himself.
After getting the same answers over and over, Yugi finally had enough at the end of the third month. He slammed his papers down at the edge of the desk with a frown.
"I know that, of course I do!" Yugi uncharacteristically snapped. "But I'm still his friend, and friends look out for each other! I know we hurt his feelings, we want to make up for that, we want to help him. But how can we do that if you guys won't let us!?"
Roland raised one eyebrow neatly over his glasses and stared at him for a few seconds, as if he was analyzing him.
"You are very passionate about this." Roland observed aloud.
Yugi felt a blush involuntary climb up his cheeks. "Ah… Well, I care about my friends. Even if Mokuba and Seto don't think we're friends, I still care about them."
This time, both of his eyebrows raised and his posture straightened. "You think Seto is alive then? You believe what Mokuba saw was real?"
"Yes!" Yugi instantly said, and then frowned. "No? I don't know… I think it's possible that he found a way to survive, but it just makes me confused. I want to believe he is out there, but if he is… Why didn't he come back?"
Roland stared at him for another long moment, and then looked down at his desk. He grabbed a sticky note, and began to write something down. "I'll tell you where Mokuba is."
Yugi gasped happily. "Oh, thank you!"
"But you need to do something for me." He held out the sticky note, his expression now one of concern. "I'm afraid that Mokuba is going to do something reckless. I've tried to talk him down, or give him other options, but he won't listen to me… Maybe he'll listen to you."
The king of games quickly took the paper, and scanned over the address. He could hear the urgency in Roland's tone, he knew that his request was serious, and one they had to act on fast.
Yugi put the address in his pocket, already forming a plan. He would call his friends and then they could head over right away. They would make up for their mistakes, they would help Mokuba.
"I'll talk to him, I'll try my best to help him. I promise, Roland…" He turned and walked to the edge of the room, and opened the door before he looked back. "And… Thank you for giving us a chance."
As the door slid shut, Roland watched the second in command go. Then, when he was alone, the older man lowered his head and sighed. "Yugi… Please help Mokuba. This isn't just your chance, it's our last chance."
As soon as he had left the Kaiba Corp building, Yugi called his friends, told them the address, and took off towards it himself. They couldn't waste time, and Yugi had a feeling that urgency was of the utmost importance.
By the time he made it to the front of the address, only Tristan, Joey, Tea, and Bakura had managed to show up.
Yugi barely glanced at them as he turned to look at where Mokuba had been all this time. It was a large area, with a nearby warehouse that was large and tall and several satellites.
"What is this place?" Bakura questioned.
Joey frowned and narrowed his eyes at the warehouse. "This is where Mokuba has been this whole time? What the hell is he doing here?"
As Yugi examined the area once more, he suddenly felt his heart seize. He knew exactly what this place was. "This… This is where Kaiba Corp space tech has been built. But before that, it was where Kaiba's satellite was constructed…"
Tea placed her hands over her mouth, catching on quickly. "Oh no, Yugi… You don't think…?"
All Yugi could do was nod, because she knew exactly what he was thinking. Mokuba was not here to mourn or figure out the message, he was here to get his brother. He was trying to go to space.
Tristain quickly moved to the gate, and began to pull. "We have to hurry!" He growled as the metal remained stationary. "This damn thing won't budge!"
"Maybe we should use the intercom?" Bakura suggested.
Joey scoffed. "And give Mokuba a chance to figure out we're here and kick us out? I ain't giving him that chance!"
The blonde took a running start and jumped, grabbing the edge of the fence and pulling himself over. Once he was on the other side, he was able to press a button that made the gate roll open.
"Good one, Joey!" Tea called to their friend as he ran over to meet them.
Once they were all together, the group ran as fast as they could to the large warehouse. The door on the front was cracked open, and there weren't any guards at all. For a moment. Yugi wondered if that was Mokuba's doing or if Roland had done it to help them, before shaking off those questions. They had no time for that right now!
As they shoved the door open and walked inside, Yugi couldn't stop a shocked gasp from escaping him, nor could the others, at what they saw.
Inside the large warehouse, there was a rocket ship. It was huge, composed of several different colors of metal, and had lights on the inside. It looked like it had only just been thought of, but had been completed very recently.
"Oh shit!" Tristain exclaimed,"Guys, he's gonna take off! We have to stop him!"
Tea glanced around frantically, and then pointed to a nearby staircase. "Look! That leads to the tunnel! We can get in through there!"
As fast as their legs could carry them, the group scurried upstairs and down a long tunnel until they reached the end, and forced the door open. As they entered the small space, they saw exactly who they were looking for.
Mokuba had already turned to face them, his eyes burning with a mixture of anger and determination. "How the hell did you find me!?" He sneered.
"Who cares about that, kid, what the hell are you doing!?" Joey motioned at the controls, and back at Mokuba. "What is all this!?"
The young man scoffed. "Are you blind?! I'm going after my brother, he's in space, I'm going to space! Why do you even care, you said you didn't believe me!"
"We do now!" Tea stepped forward with an earnest expression.
Mokuba's expression became more harsh, and he looked a lot like how Seto used to as he sarcastically snarled,"How convenient."
Yugi could feel the growing tension, and quickly stepped forward. "Don't be mad at them, be mad at me! I convinced Roland to tell me, but that's because we needed to talk to you! You're our friend, Mokuba, and this has to stop!"
"Is that it!? You came here to tell me that I'm going crazy!?" Mokuba rose to his full height. "I know you don't believe me, so just get out!"
"But we do believe you!" Bakura declared, his voice louder than usual. "Mokuba, I didn't know your brother as well as they did, but I know how strong he was, and how he never gave up. You and him have a special bond. If you say he's alive, then I believe you."
Mokuba's angry expression calmed for a moment, before he let out a sigh. "That's nice of you, Bakura… I'm glad you believe me now…" His face turned steely again. "But you're not stopping me. I have to do this."
"No you don't!" Tea exclaimed,"Is this what Kaiba would have wanted? Mokuba, he stopped that meteor to protect you, to protect all of us! Do you really think he wants you to risk your life?"
"YES!" Mokuba yelled right back. "Maybe he didn't before, but I know what that message said! He asked for help! I have to help him! I HAVE TO! He's always been there for me, he's saved my life countless times, this is my chance to do it back!"
Yugi felt his anxiety rising. Mokuba was so determined, so stubborn, just like his brother. No wonder Roland needed their help, it seemed like it was impossible to get through to their friend.
"Are you sure this is the best way?" He carefully asked. "Isn't there a way you can contact him first? Maybe a satellite or tracing the signal of the computer?"
The young CEO glanced nearby, at the broken computer he brought from the attic, the same one he claimed the message appeared on. "I am going to trace the signal, but I'm doing that in space! Where I can look for him, and where YOU can't stop me!"
"You don't have to do this, Mokuba!" Tristan desperately tried. "It's too dangerous, you could die up there!"
Mokuba turned around, sitting in the seat with all the buttons as he pressed several of them. As he pressed the last button, a gentle rumbling began, and the lights on the ship turned brighter. "That's a risk I am willing to take!"
"We'll we're not letting you!" Joey stormed up to the kid, his fists clenched and jaw tight. "If you're not going to stop, then we're not leaving this ship until you do!"
The young man turned back to them with a conflicted expression as the shaking grew stronger, and the sight of it made Yugi hopeful. Mokuba cared about them, maybe Joey's declaration could work! Maybe they could get their friend to stop, and at least consider what they had to say.
But all those hopes were dashed seconds later as Mokuba grabbed a handle and pulled it down. "You're not stopping me." His voice was devoid of emotion. "No matter what you try."
The shaking grew more violent as the door behind them slid shut. The group of five glanced at each other in horror. I hadn't worked, Mokuba was taking off, with them inside!
They didn't have a chance to protest as the ceiling of the warehouse pulled back, revealing the sky above them. Then, the ship lurched upwards with a rumbling roar.
The force of the ship's take off was so strong it sent them tumbling and crashing against the metal walls of the ship. Mokuba, who had managed to buckle himself in, remained stationary in his seat.
Yugi could only watch as they flew further and further into the air, until the blue sky disappeared and the darkness of space enveloped the ship. The king of games felt his heart race with terror. What do we do now!?
After what felt like a petrifying eternity, the ships rumbling finally stopped. The group of five probably would have stayed huddled where they'd fallen, but the lack of gravity made it so they were not floating in the ship.
Mokuba tapped a few buttons, and then leaned forward to the microphone set up. "I'm sending this signal out as far as it will go! Seto, it's me, Mokuba! Can you hear me? Where are you? I'm coming to get you!"
Once he finished speaking, he pressed the button again, and a beeping confirmed the message had been sent out.
"What the fuck was that!?" Joey snapped, trying to storm towards the young man, but still unable to deal with the change in gravity. "Are you insane!? You could have killed us!"
"It's your own fault!" Mokuba looked from the chair he was in at them with a sharp glare. "I didn't want to talk to you, but you kept intruding on this! It's not my problem you guys decided to come!"
Yugi tried to remain calm, he tried his best, but he couldn't stop the anxiety gripping him from speaking. "What do you mean our fault!? Mokuba we just wanted to apologize, we just wanted to help you! This has gone too far!"
"Too far!? TOO FAR!?" Mokuba's anger grew more fierce as he unbuckled himself, and turned to face them. "No, you started this! If you had just listened to me when I told you that my big brother was ALIVE, none of this would have happened!"
"Oh? It wouldn't have? I don't think that's true! You know why?!" Joey was practically seething as he pointed accusingly. "Because right now, you're being a stubborn, selfish, reckless asshole! I guess I was wrong, you're just like your brother!"
Mokuba's eyes widened, and he began to shudder with rage. "Then I guess my brother was always right about you! You're nothing more than a stupid mutt!"
"WHAT DID YOU SAY!?"
"YOU HEARD ME!"
Bakura watched the exchange with a panicked expression. "Stop it! Stop! Both of you!" His eyes were growing wet with tears.
"Listen to Bakura! Fighting won't solve anything!" Tea desperately tried. "And Mokuba, this isn't what Seto would have wanted!"
Mokuba turned his glare to her. "How do you know what he would have wanted! You never cared about him! You hated him! Why should I believe a damn thing you say!?"
"Because this has gone too far!" Tristain, who was holding Joey's arm tightly, leaned forward. "We didn't know him well, but he wouldn't want you to do this for him! He'd want you to be safe!"
"It doesn't matter what he wanted! We're already here now! And if I have to spend the rest of my life up here, then I will! If I die before I manage to find him, then that's just how it will be!"
"So you're willing to let us die just to find your brother!?" Joey demanded.
Mokuba turned his glare towards the blonde again. "You should have left me alone. You have no one to blame but yourselves!"
Joey's eyes widened, and then he began to shake. "You… YOU BASTARD!" He lunged forward, only held back by Tristain and Yugi.
The struggle between then, and the yelling between Joey and Mokuba drowned out any attempts to try and talk calmly. It seemed like they would devolve completely into chaos, until Tea let out a horrified scream.
"GUYS!"
Their fighting all stopped at once, as they looked to where Tea was looking. Outside the window, they saw a pristine white ship floating in front of them.
While Yugi didn't know much about space, he knew one thing for sure as he stared out at the ship. That thing isn't from Earth.
Suddenly, there was a loud clanging noise, as the ship was violently shaken from the side. The group cried out in fear, their anger forgotten as they gripped each other, afraid of what was to come.
There was a buzzing sound to the side, and Yugi turned his head just in time to see the ship's door suddenly be dislodged. He tensed for a moment, expecting to be tossed out into space… But nothing happened.
Instead of the vast expanse of space, there was now a white tunnel attached to the door, and three figures walking through it. They wore dark clothing and helmets, he couldn't make out any of their features.
"Well, well…" The bulky one in the middle said, in an accent Yugi didn't recognize. "Look what we found! It seems the signal was real."
The two men on either side of him reached to their sides, and pointed gun-like weapons straight at them.
The one in the middle grabbed his own, holding it close. "Now, if you pathetic creatures would like the privilege to live a little longer, you'll come with us."
The group glanced at each other hopefully, but only found the same fear they had reflected by one another. Slowly, they all raised their hands, surrendering to the strange weapon wielding men.
"Good, very good." The one in the middle chuckled as he turned to his men; and spoke in a language Yugi didn't understand before walking back down the tunnel.
One by one, the strange guards grabbed them, and dragged them through the tunnel. Yugi was the last to be taken, dragged out of the Earth ship and taken to the unknown one without the slightest hint of care by the guards.
As they left their only way back home behind, Yugi stared ahead of them with a terrified expression. They were trapped in the middle of space, by strangers with a mysterious ship. With no hope of escaping, all he could do was wonder…
What's going to happen to us now?
