Chapter: 25 Escape

Loki sat at the table reading a book, with his legs propped up on the chair across from him; Loki has learned all he could about the Phoenix Force and The Reality Stone. So, he's moved on to magic books, trying to find a spell or something that would break him out of his cell but nothing; no matter what he tried, no spell would break open his cell; he gave up the idea of using magic to get out. So, Loki was back to relying on his tricks. He has come up with a plan, a simple one, an easy one, that relied on the ignorance of his brother. Loki just had to wait for him to show up, and he would be all set to go.

Frigga did go out of her way to make him comfortable in here, brought him whatever he wanted. Now his cell looked more like a small bedroom, he had a small bed, table with chairs, over in the corner sat his old helmet, he would need it for his plan to escape, there was a plant across from the helmet in the other corner, books, neatly stacked all over, and not far from him was a mannequin wearing the new outfit he had just finished making a couple of days ago, and his new helmet sat on top of its head.

Loki grinned when he thought about the outfit he made from the materials Frigga brought him. He was sure Saphira would like this new outfit; the pants were black, the top green with gold trim, he made a pair of black gloves with the fingers cut out of them, the new helmet he had the blacksmith make for him wasn't exactly a helmet, more of a crown, with smaller versions of his horns sticking out the front and two metal pieces that came down along his jawline. And a symbol on the front in the middle that was almost V shaped. The jacket Loki had been sewing the shadow thread into matched the top and came to Loki's knees, and he bewitched it to be able to change shape and size, and with the thread, it could make him invisible. Yes, Loki believes Saphira would love his new look.

Loki had gotten the idea for the outfit from the boots Saphira had given him. They were black, gold and green. They were primarily black, with green in the front with gold trim around the green; he made the outfit styled to match the boots. Using the shadow thread was something he thought of after his spell wore off Saphira during their invasion of Area 51; if she ever needed to be concealed again, she can wear his jacket and make herself invisible.

Loki reached for his tea to take a sip, then set the cup back down, and grinned when he heard the familiar sound of Thor's heavy footsteps coming his way. Finally, the big oaf decides to visit him. When he walked up to the cell, Loki kept his head down, hair in his face, to hide the grin he couldn't keep off his face.

"Go away, Thor; I'm not in the mood," Loki told him before he could even speak, trying to make Thor believe he was annoyed by his visit. And, of course, Thor went nowhere.

"You were right, brother," Thor told him.

"Of course I was, I'm always right, " Loki replied. "But to be clear, what am I right about this time?"

"Father and his secrets," Thor answered.

"Figures, I wouldn't be the only secret," Loki said.

"Father refuses to tell me, says it's none of my business, that all Kings have secrets, and it is not easy to be King and watch over the nine realms," Thor explained; Loki looked up from his book with a frown.

"I found being King of Asgard not all that difficult, well, when my subjects listened to me, that is." Loki said, "And the whole protected the realms, Odin did that to himself, I believe, was it not his idea to nose in the other realm's business? "

"He claims only to do what he feels is best for our family, Asgard and the nine realms," Thor said.

"Please, Odin does what's best for Odin," Loki replied; Thor chuckled, which caused Loki to give him a weird look.

"That's what I told him," Thor explained; Loki groaned and closed his book and tossed it on the table.

"Please tell me I am not starting to think like you?" Loki demanded. Thor laughed a little.

"Admit it, Loki, I am starting to grow on you," Thor said; Loki scowled at him, "You can stop acting like you do not like me, brother; we all know you do." Loki rolled his eyes.

"If that is what helps you sleep at night, Thor, go ahead and keep thinking it," Loki told him. This time Thor rolled his eyes. "Was there something you actually wanted or did you come down here to annoy me?"

"I only came to tell you that I am going to Midgard tomorrow morning and won't be back for a while," Thor replied. "As I promised, I will visit Saphira, so is there anything you wish for me to tell her or give her while I'm there?"

Loki didn't answer at first, but instead, he stood, walked over to the dummy wearing his new outfit and took his jacket off it, then walked up to the force field, and grinned at Thor.

"I thank you, brother, the suggestion is..sweet, but not needed anymore," Loki told him. "As I will be making it to Midgard before you and breaking Saphira from her prison."

"And how do you plan to do that?" Thor asked, frowning in confusion as Loki held up his new jacket.

"This lovely jacket I have been working on is finally finished." Loki explained, "And it will get me to Midgard, you see, brother, the thread I have been sewing into it, is a special kind of thread, Mother and I required when we went on that trip years ago, you remember, right? You see, if sewn into an article of clothing, it can make the wearer teleport in and out of anywhere no matter the spells and enchantments place on the place."

Thor frowned, not sure if Loki was telling the truth or pulling his leg, as he watched Loki put on the jacket, then held his arms out, and his grin widened.

"I bide you fair well, brother; I'm sure at some point we'll see each other again, but likely not for a long time." Loki winked at him, then to Thor's bewilderment, he disappeared.

"LOKI!" Thor screamed; he opened the cell and ran in, and looked around, suddenly he felt hands grabbing the side of his head, Loki was still there only invisible, Thor tried to fight him off, but Loki started whispering a spell, and he felt sleepy as he dropped to his knees.

"I'm so sorry, brother, truly I am, but my wife is in danger, and she's been locked up helpless for far too long now; she needs me," Loki told him as Thor falls over on to the floor hard then started snoring; Loki lifted Thor and tried to toss him up on the bed, but it was hard, Thor was a lot heavy then Loki had guessed, so it took a moment to get all of him up on the bed.

"Bloody hell, what do you eat?" Loki demanded as he covered Thor's body up with his blanket from his feet to his head.

Loki then walked over to the corner where his old helmet sat, grabbed it and walked back over and put it on Thor's head, and stepped back to look and nodded; it looked like him lying there enough he should be on Midgard before anyone discovers him missing. The sleep spell Loki put on Thor would last about two hours, and unfortunately, Thor will have a bit of a headache, and be a little dizzy, almost like having a hangover, when he wakes, but Loki has no choice. He needed to get to Saphira before unwanted visitors showed up at her prison; he could only hope that hadn't happened already.

"Do not worry, brother, when you wake, you can still visit Enid," Loki told him, patting Thor's shoulder. "I'll warn her of your visit when I stop by to see her."

Loki turned from Thor and put on his new outfit and helmet, then admired his reflection in the glass of the cell before waving his hand and making the books and parchment on his table disappear into his pocket dimension before stepping out of the cell and closing the door, locking the sleeping Thor in, grinning widely, Loki fixed the collar of his jacket, before heading down the corridor, he could hardly believe that his plan worked, it was a simple not complicated plan, only involved tricking Thor to enter his cell, and it worked. Loki felt like whistling a happy tune but decided that would get him caught.

Loki stayed invisible as he left the dungeons. Still, he didn't leave Asgard right away, he was in a hurry to get to Midgard, get Enid to tell him where Saphira's prison was, then break his wife out, but Loki couldn't bring himself to leave without stopping by and seeing someone first. He stopped outside of Frigga's chambers, knocked, then went in as he became visible.

"Loki." Fridge cried, rushing over and locking her door. "You should have just left when you got out."

"Mother, I had to see you first," Loki replied; Frigga turned to him with a smile.

"I knew that sweet boy I raised was still in you somewhere," Frigga said; Loki rolled his eyes, but he did smile at her.

"I do not have much time. I must get off Asgard before I'm found," Loki told her. "But I wanted to thank you for everything you did to help me and to tell you it might be a long while before we see each other again."

"I figured as much." Frigga stepped forward and hugged Loki; he surprised her a little by hugging her back, then kissed her cheek before pulling away.

"No matter what, you always have been, and you always will be my mother," Loki told her; Frigga had tears in her eyes as she smiled at him and took Loki's hands in hers.

"And you will always be my son," Frigga told him. "Now go, save your wife."

"Yes, Mother," Loki said; he walked around Frigga back to the door, then turned around and said. "Thor's down in my cell locked up; I had to put him under a sleep spell; you might want to have a headache potion for him when he wakes."

Frigga nodded. "I'll alert the healers, now go before someone sees you."

Loki turned invisible then disappeared, reappearing on Midgard, Las Vegas, Nevada. To be exact, Loki stayed invisible as he walked down the strip heading towards Enid's casino; he stopped right in front of it and took a closer look; he could feel the magic around the building. Enid must have surrounded the casino in protective spells and enchantments, one of which stopped anyone from teleporting inside, which would be unfortunate if not for his jacket and boots. Grinning, Loki took off running towards the building, then running up the side of it. When he got to the very top, Loki stopped outside a large window and looked in, going by the decorations and pictures on the wall; this room was Saphira's bedroom.

Loki laid his hand on the window and whispered a spell; the glass disappeared, and he climbed in and looked around. Of course, Saphira would decorate her walls with pictures and posters of herself, just like at their house. Loki shook his head in amusement then left the room; he figured Enid probably wouldn't be in her apartment but her office or walking around the casino; if he remembers right, Saphira said Enid usually works night, which is what it was now nightime, though Loki didn't know the exact time.

Loki went down the stairs into the living area; he passed a large sofa that had a black cat lying on it; he recognized the cat from pictures in Saphira's phone, it was her cat, Mischief, and he stood up and hissed with his back up when Loki passed by him, the cat sensing someone there. Unable to see him, it freaked the cat out. Loki ignored him as he left the penthouse and headed towards the elevators.

Weirdly it was harder for Loki to find Enid's office than it was escaping Asgard, he finally found it a little over two hours later when he came upon a door open a little bit, and Enid's voice came out of it; Loki carefully opened the door more, and quietly went in. Enid was sitting at her desk, back facing Loki; a Midgardain man stood next to her; he was talking business as Enid was going over some paperwork he wanted her to sign; it was all rather dull, but as Loki watched, his eyes narrowed, he did not like how the guy kept moving closer to Enid, who was so into reading the paperwork she didn't even notice, so, when the guy reached out to lay his hand on the lower part of Enid's back, a bit too far down for Loki's liking he pulled out a dagger and tossed it towards him, the blad stuck in the sleeve of his suit jacket pinning him to Enid's desk.

Startled, Enid jumped and looked; then looked around the room once she recognized the dagger, then back to the guy and her face took on a furious look once she realized what the position of his arm and hand meant; Enid swore at the guy, handing him back the papers, telling him to get out as she pulled the dagger out of his sleeve. The guy left, mumbling something about booby trap offices under his breath, slamming the door behind him.

"Alright, Loki, where are you, and what are you doing here?" Enid demanded, raising and turning around to look.

"That guy should be glad I wasn't my brother," Loki said as he made himself appear, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.

"I can take care of myself," Enid told him, pointing his dagger at him; Loki only smirked. "How did you escape Asgard anyway? " Her eyes narrowed. "I swear, Loki, if you have hurt Thor."

Loki laughed, "Threats already; I just got here, must be a record." He dropped his arms and got off the wall. "And no need to kill me, Thor, is asleep, that's all." he frowns in thought. "Though he should have woken by now. And most likely has an awful headache."

"You used a sleep spell on him." Enid guessed.

"Yep, it was rather easy if I do say so myself," Loki said.

"He is going to kick your ass when he catches you," Enid warned.

"He has to catch me first," Loki replied.

"Why are you here?" Enid demanded. Tossing the dagger onto her desk. "And what are you wearing?"

"My new outfit, made it myself." Loki answered, "Had to have something to do while locked up, to distract me from all the endless tortuous visits by Thor."

"Stop acting like you hate Thor when you know it isn't fooling anyone," Enid demanded.

"I do hate Thor," Loki claimed. "Why do people keep saying I don't?"

"Please, he may annoy you with his arrogant attitude and feel jealous of him at times, but you know if Thor's life were on the line, you would do anything you can to save him," Enid said.

"Whatever you say, sweetheart," Loki replied,

"Don't call me that," Enid demanded as she sat back in her chair. "What do you want?" Loki walked over and sat on the edge of her desk with his legs stretched out.

"I came with a warning," Loki said, crossing one foot over the other.

"Warning?" Enid asked; Loki nodded.

"Thor is threatening to come to visit you tomorrow; I thought I should warn you, so you can hide before he gets here," Loki said, trying to keep a straight face; Enid glared at him.

"You are not funny, even though you think you are," Enid told him.

Loki started laughing; he couldn't help it; Loki was in a good mood suddenly, his plan to escape the dungeons worked, and once Enid told him the location of Saphira's prison, he was going to be reunited with his wife very soon.

"I am trying to work. Would you leave? Go bug someone else." Enid demanded.

"But I like it here, might even go down to the front desk and rent myself a room," Loki replied. Enid groaned, annoyed, shooting Loki a dirty look.

"How my sister puts up with you, I will never know," Enid told him.

"Sweetheart, if you were the one married to me, you would understand," Loki winked at Enid; he knew he should not be flirting with his sister-in-law; forget Thor, Saphira would kill him herself if she knew, but it wasn't like Loki was serious, only doing it to annoy Enid, he always found getting under her skin amusing. The disgusted look she was giving him now was almost worth the threat to his life.

"Never call me sweetheart, ever again," Enid demanded. "And you better not be talking dirty, now get out; I have had enough of you." She stood, grabbed Loki's arm, and pulled him off her desk, got behind him, and tried to shove him towards the door while Loki laughed at her attempt.

"Alright, alright." Loki laughed, holding up his hands. "There is a true reason I am here." Enid groaned and stopped trying to push Loki out of her office.

"What, what is it you want?" Enid demanded. "Why must you harass me?"

"It amuses me so much that I can get a usually calm and level-headed goddess to the point she's ready to commit murder, though the fact I am the one you want to murder is not amusing." Loki joked.

"Be serious, will you? " Enid demanded, "or I will call out to Heimdall and tell him you are here, and even if you are hiding from him, I can grab your arm and have him use the Bifrost on me, which will take you with me."

"Look, I just want the location to Saphira's prison, then I'll leave, and you won't see me again for a very long time," Loki told her.

"Or see my sister, right?" Enid demanded; Loki sighed; he knew this wasn't going to be easy, which is why he came prepared; he waved his hand towards Enid's desk, making his notes appear.

"Would you rather have your sister with her husband, happy traveling around the galaxy or locked up in a cage being miserable ?" Loki demanded.

"That's not fair." Enid said, "you know I want my sister happy." Loki put his hand on Enid's back and gently pushed her over to her desk, and unfolded the papers.

"I understand you and Saphira have always been close despite being total opposite; it's a lot like Thor, and I used to be. But this isn't about siblings or marriages, not entirely; Saphira is in danger, and most likely not only from those wanting revenge on me. She may even be slowly dying as we speak; I need to get to her so I can help her."

Enid looked from the papers she was reading to Loki and narrowed her eyes at him. "What do you mean she could be slowly dying right now? I swear Loki if it's from something you did..."

"Not everything is my fault, Enid." Loki said, "But, I do blame myself in a way if I had not allowed myself to be taking by SHIED, I could have been there to stop her from touching it."

"Touching what?" Enid demanded.

"The tesseract, while I was on SHEILD's flying fortress, Saphira was on the roof of Stark Tower waiting for me while making sure Selvig did his job when she got distracted by the tesseract, it was like it hypothesized her, she couldn't stop herself," Loki explained. "The moment she touched it, a being known as the Pheonix Force dragged Saphira through the tesseract."

"The Pheonix Force?" Enid demanded, looking up at Loki.

"Yes, have you heard of it?" Loki asked.

"Not too familiar with it, but I have heard of it," Enid told him, looking down at the papers and reading quickly through them. "What would the Pheonix want with Saphira?"

"I could only make guesses based on my research, but I am sure it put the aether inside, Saphira," Loki said, "And as you can read here, the aether houses the Reality Stone, which is one of six.."

"Infinity stones." Enid finished. "If this is true, that would mean.."

"My wife, your sister, is walking around with an infinity stone inside her." Loki interrupted, "And that puts her in a lot of danger, would make her a target to anyone after the stones if found out. And if she isn't strong enough to host it, it could be slowly draining her energy, killing her as we speak. I need to break her out of prison and figure out how to get it out of her and destroy it or at least get it far from Saphira because she is attracted to them for some reason, and I do not like that."

"Do you swear that this is true?" Enid demanded. "That this isn't some trick to get me to give up Saphira's location because if it is, I swear..."

"Despite it making your sister mad at you, you will hurt me." Loki finished.

"Yes, " Enid snapped.

"I swear," Loki promised. Enid propped her elbows on the table and put her head in her hands.

"Why is it always my sister? Why does everything always happen to her?" Enid demanded.

"Believe me, if I knew the answer to that question, I would stop it," Loki replied; Enid sat back in her chair and crossed her arms.

"How much danger is my sister in?" Enid asked.

"More than you could imagine," Loki told her.

"And you swear you will do everything within your power to keep my sister safe, protect her, never hurt her, and make sure she doesn't get hurt," Enid demanded.

"You forget something, Enid." Loki replied, "Your sister is my wife.."

"I have not forgotten that detail, but I know you, Loki, you are not trustworthy." Enid. "So swear it."

"I swear," Loki replied. "If something does happen to Saphira, I will allow you to drive the dagger through my heart yourself." Enid frowned at Loki for a moment, then to his surprise, she laughed.

"Why are you always so dramatic." Enid demanded, "You sound like a Shakespeare character."

"A what?" Loki demanded. Enid shook her head.

"Never mind, sorry, think I'm getting overwhelmed by everything," Enid replied. She sat there a moment before signing and turning to Loki. "I can not believe I am doing this. Go up to my penthouse, in my office, on the first floor there is a map of the prison, shows its location and how to get there from New York, it's on an isolated island just off the coast."

"Thank you," Loki replied, turning to head out to the door before turning and looking at her confused. "Where did you get a map to her prison?"

"Remy Lebeau, he visits Saphira often, and for some reason, he stole a couple of maps from the prison one visit, gave me one." Enid shrugged.

"Ah, yes, the theft." Loki scowled, feeling jealous of LeBeau visiting his wife when he hadn't been able to see her. He could hear Enid laughing at his jealousy as he closed her office door and headed back to her penthouse for the map.

Loki went straight to the penthouse, found Enid's office, then located the map in her desk drew, then left out Saphira's bedroom window; he made sure to put the glass back before running down the side of the building and disappeared to New York.

AN Well, Loki, escape. Finally, I tried to add some funny parts; I hope I did alright; the outfit I tried to describe Loki wearing is the one he wears in the 2019 Loki series. The jacket is from Agent of Asgard, It can make someone invisible in the comics, but I added it changing shape and stuff. I'm hoping to get the next chapter up soon. Hopefully, tomorrow, going out of town Friday to visit my sister; I haven't seen her in over a year, so after that, the story might not be updated for about a week; she doesn't have internet.

The next chapter will have action and be a bit violent though I would warn about that.
