A sapphire orb twitched in disbelief. Was the world really this cruel? Did some higher being have it out for him? A young, unremarkable student from the middle of nowhere? He must've really messed up in his past life for the amount of bad luck he had endured as of late. He shifted his eyes to the person beside him and noticed she looked just as uncomfortable as he did.
"Is there a reason you're staring at me?" Weiss asked, her voice missing her usual bite and instead sounded more anxious.
The two of them were currently sat on a five hour coach journey to Ansel for various reasons and were unfortunate enough to be seated next to each other. Jaune had quickly given up on trying to swap seats with other passengers when an elderly woman accused him of trying to take advantage of the elderly.
"N- No, sorry." He sighed and resigned himself to absentmindedly scroll through his phone.
"...I'm sorry." Weiss apologised a few seconds later "I shouldn't have treated you the way I did."
"It's fine." He really didn't want to have this conversation, It had been a while since the panic attack situation and all he wanted to do was move on with his life "It's water under the bridge." He replied, not breaking away from his phone.
"No." Weiss continued, ignoring his response "I was downright rude towards you. And over what? A silly misunderstanding? I was out of line, so for that I am truly sorry."
"Weiss-"
"And for everything else." She carried on "The whole 'us' thing was all my fault, I should never have come on as strong as I did. I honestly don't know why I did. Maybe I just wanted to feel wanted and you were the only one who ever gave me the attention." She blushed and turned away from him, opting to twirl a strand of hair "And It's not like I regret what we did, I just wish It would have been in different circumstances. I even explained all of this to the others the other night."
"Weiss!" Jaune finally got through to the girl as she once again made eye contact with him.
"What?"
Jaune pointed to the boy in the seat in the row next to them. A redhead with one side of his head shaved and the other long enough to cover one eye was staring directly at them with complete interest in their situation. "Don't mind me." He said "Just being nosy."
"Can you not?" Weiss scowled at the boy "We're trying to have a conversation here."
"Yeah, piss off." Jaune backed the girl up.
The redhead simply shrugged his shoulders before putting a pair of headphones on and going back to his phone.
"What a jerk." Weiss sighed "What was I saying?"
"Look." Jaune stopped her "It's fine. I accept your apology."
"Let me make it up to you."
"No."
"Why?"
"Because there's nothing wrong." Jaune groaned "Why are you even on this bus? Did you just get on here so you could trap me an apologise?"
"Don't be ridiculous!" Weiss laughed "I'm going to see my sister. She's always working and rarely gets any free time. So when she is free I try my best to see her." She explained. "What about you? Going for some soul searching in the northern most city? Doesn't seem like the greatest of places for something like that."
"Why would I need to go soul searching? And no. I'm also going to see my sister, figured I could get away from everything for a couple of days." He answered before shooting her a look "I guess everything just follows me around."
"Pffft, so I'm your everything now?" Weiss joked "You should have told me that from the get go and maybe I would have treated you nicer."
"You're the biggest pain in my ass. That's for sure." He playfully shot back and noticed that she was smiling. "Who knew?" He asked.
"Knew what? That we could be civil?" The white haired girl asked and was answered with a nod from the blonde boy beside her. "Not me that's for sure."
"I dunno, you guys kinda seem like good friends to me." The redhead boy was glued to them once again, causing Weiss to blush a deep red and Jaune to let out a fed up groan.
"Can you just mind your own business?" Weiss spat at the boy with her usual venom.
"Sorry!"
~~~Vale University~~~
Sun was on edge. For the last week he could feel eyes on him everywhere he went. Class, bars and even in his own room he felt like he was being watched. Yet, every time he tried to spot the creep, he was met with nothing. To make matters worse, he was on his own. Ren had been staying over at Nora's for the last couple of days and Jaune was out of town and Neptune was out... being Neptune. He'd have to take care of this spy himself.
He had confronted Blake and Yang about the whole situation and they had both apologised profusely and promised they never meant to lead him on, which left a bitter taste in his mouth. After all, wasn't Yang the one who tried pushing him to go for Blake? Did she do that just to hide her own feelings for the girl? "Ahhhh!" He frustratingly moaned. He couldn't be mad at either of them, they were his friends at the end of the day and he should be happy that they're happy together.
The sound of Ren's shower going snapped him out of his thoughts and his eyes sharpened. 'Come straight for me, huh?' He grabbed the closest thing to him for protection and crept silently to his friends room. Armed with an empty bottle, the boy took a deep breath and entered the room. He noticed the window was fully open and his palms began to sweat 'There's no way?! We're on the third floor, they couldn't have come in through the window...'
The sound of the shower turning off forced him to focus on the situation at hand as he crouched down, getting ready to pounce. He heard light footsteps make their way to the ensuite door and the handle turn. The door opened and without a second to waste, Sun sprung into action "Stop right there criminal sc- Huh?"
A tanned girl with a large brown ponytail looked shocked at the blonde monkey boy holding a bottle threateningly at her. She instantly gripped the towel closer to her body and a scowl appeared on her face.
Sun stared at the girl and lowered his arm. She was cute, really cute. She was smaller than him but had a similar athletic build, if those legs were anything to go by anyway.
"H-Hey! Stop ogling me you filthy man!" She tugged at the towel trying to cover up more of her legs "Why are you even here? You're supposed to be at a lecture right now!"
"How the hell would you know where I'm supposed to be? And this is my dorm! Why are you here?" Sun countered.
"Well, stupid man, I'm clearly using your shower." She spat "You're dumber than I once thought."
"What's with the insults? I have a name, you know." He took a slow step toward her.
"Do you honestly think I care about your name? I only care for my one true love, Blake Belladonna!" She proclaimed proudly "And I won't let a filthy man thing like you so much as lay a finger on her!" She screamed, quickly grabbing at the nearby lamp and launching it at the head of the boy before her.
"Shit!" Sun didn't have enough time to react as the base of the lamp met his forehead and he went down for the count. The bottle in his hand fell on to the bedroom floor and rolled away.
"Idiot, do you know how many hours I've wasted on figuring out your exact schedule?" She asked the unconscious boy "Like eight hours!" She seethed. She made her way to where she left he clothes but suddenly slipped on the bottle he had dropped "Fuck!" She let out before landing head first onto the bed post, falling unconscious immediately and landing on top of the blonde boy.
~~~Vale University~~~
"I don't think she's coming..." Jaune said as he stood next to the petite girl. It had been an hour since they had gotten off of the coach and the sun was beginning to set.
"She'll be here." Weiss simply replied while typing several messages on her phone. She had tried to phone her sister but was met with voicemail every time.
"Weiss."
"She'll be here!" She repeated herself, hanging her head low and clenching her fist so hard she swore she could hear the phone cracking in her grip. A firm hand planted itself on her shoulder.
"Come on, let's go." Jaune gently took her by the hand and pulled the reluctant girl away from the coach station.
"Where are we going? And why are you holding my hand?"
"It would be a waste of your time if you just went home, right? So, you can just come and stay with me for the weekend." He answered with a sigh "Explaining this to Saph is going to be a pain..."
"Okay? And how does that explain the hand holding?" Weiss asked once again.
"You seemed pretty set on just standing there and waiting. Thought it would've been easier just to drag you around." He explained.
Weiss hummed playfully "I suppose after everything else we've done, holding hands doesn't amount to much." She let out a giggle as he tore his hand away form hers and kept walking.
After several minutes of walking they arrived at a large house with as beautiful looking women with dirty blonde hair waving to them at the front door "Hey lil bro!" She called out.
Jaune smiled back "Hi Saph. You been well?" Jaune pulled the girl into a hug.
"I've been good." She replied "And who is this cutie?" Saphron pushed past her brother and grasped Weiss' hands in her own, letting out a low whistle "Always going for the pretty ones, aren't ya, bro?"
"Umm..." Weiss blushed at the compliments "I'm Weiss Schnee. It's a pleasure to meet you." She greeted.
"And we're just friends." Jaune added "You don't mind if she stays with us, do you?"
"You're more than welcome to stay with us! The more the merrier, am I right?" The bubbly girl laughed before dragging Weiss into the house.
~~~Vale University~~~
'Soft...' Was the first thing he thought when he awoke. Sun opened his eyes which widened instantly. The girl who had thrown a lamp at him was naked and snoring on his chest, with a towel draped over her lower half. "Urm..." He noticed his hand was cupping her butt and began panicking. She had tried killing him already, if she woke up now he would definitely be killed.
He tried removing his hand but ended up stroking her backside, eliciting a cute moan from the girl. "I'm going to hell..." He muttered.
"You will be if you don't remove your filthy hands from me." Came the dangerously low voice from the girl. Her silver eyes staring down at the blonde below her. She adjusted her knee so it was resting mere inches away from his manhood.
Sun gulped "Let's not do anything crazy, miss."
"Ilia."
"Ilia." He corrected "But~" He started, grabbing her by her slender waist and flipping their positions "Why don't you start by telling me why you've been stalking me?" He questioned now he was in the dominating position.
"Damn it!" Ilia cursed before resorting to her last tactic "Sun, please..." She blushed "I'm on full display..."
"Nothing I haven't seen before." He ignored her fake protest "Now answer me! You smell good by the way." He quickly added at the end.
"It seems you're not as stupid as I once thought." She grunted trying to fight against his strong, firm, warm grip. "I'll never talk! Just stay away from Blake!" She repeated "Also you are very well built." She added.
"Blake?" Sun said, releasing the nude girl "But there's nothing going on between me and her."
Ilia took this opportunity and escaped from under the boy, grabbing the towel and wrapping it around herself "You think I'm going to believe that? I've seen the way you look at her, you can't fool me."
"Well, if you were looking carefully, you would have seen the way she looks at Yang." Sun explained "Especially seeing as they are now dating." He got to his feet and eyes the girl.
The girl shook her head "Impossible...She told me she was straight when I asked her out..."
"I guess she straight up lied." Sun tried to lighten the mood but was met with silent protests from Ilia "Hey, are you okay?" He reached out to her and she pulled away.
"Filthy man, don't touch me! There's no way Blake would lie to me."
"You can go and see for yourself. They're together right now." Sun countered.
"Oh I will and I'll be back to laugh in your face at how wrong you are." Ilia made a break for the open window.
"CLOTHES!" Sun shouted.
"Oh yeah, my bad..."
~~~Vale University~~~
"That's okay... Some sort of notice would have been nice... Yeah... Okay, I'm sorry... I love you too..." Weiss carefully placed her phone on the bedside table and fell back onto the bed, arms spread out "Another time I suppose..." Her sister Winter had been called into work for overtime and couldn't find the time to tell her that she would no longer be free.
She was lucky that she and Jaune had settled things otherwise she'd be camping at the coach station for the weekend. Who knew that he had such a lovely sister living all the way out here and who'd have thought she'd be the complete opposite of her pessimistic brother? Saphron had been more than willing to accommodate her even though she was a stranger.
"If only my sister was like Saphron." She gave a sad laugh.
"She's not that great." Came Jaune's voice from the now open door "She used to dress me up as a girl. Pigtails and everything." He tried to comfort the girl and was rewarded with a giggle.
"Now that's something I'd like to see." Weiss replied, sitting up from her position "Got any pictures?"
"Me? Nah. Saph? Yes." He answered with a shrug "I'm sure she'll show you if you asked."
"I'll be sure to ask before we leave." She smiled and the two fell into an awkward silence "Sooo~"
"Oh yeah." Jaune remembered why he came to Weiss in the first place "Get your shoes on, we're going to play pool."
Weiss glanced at the clock "It's 11pm? Don't you think it's a little late?"
"What kind of Uni student are you?"
"S-Shut up!"
