Cardin typed his pin into the keypad and the door to the gym slowly opened. He hefted a large gym bag over his shoulder and made his way into the well air conditioned building. He made his way up the stairs and towards the male changing room. Once inside, he retrieved his headphones, phone, a bottle of water and a gym towel. He locked his bag in a locker and left the changing room.
He nodded at some of the regulars who nodded back as he walked to an empty squat rack. Luckily the gym was always empty this early in the morning, so there was always free equipment for him to use.
He put his headphones on and started playing his gym mix. He threw his towel down and rest the bottle on top as he got under the bar. He did a few test squats with no weight on the bar and smiled contently when he was happy with the warm-up. He walked over to the weights and picked up two 20kg's, placing them on either end of the bar. The bar alone weighed 15kg, so a nice 55kg weight to start off his session.
He began squatting and found the weight to be comfortable as he easily managed his first set of 10. By the time he had finished his 3rd set he was warmed up and raring to go. The large boy added another 10kg weight to each side and repeated another 3 sets, a light sweat forming over the grinning boys forehead.
He placed the bar on the rack and picked up his bottle, taking a well earned swig of water. He wiped his face with his towel and went to grab more weights 'Another 25kg and it'll be a successful 100kg.' He smiled, happy with himself. He grabbed two 12.5kg weights and added them to the bar 'You can do this! You can do this!' He mentally hyped himself up, getting into position under the bar.
He got into perfect form, removing the bar from the rack and taking a step forward. He took a deep breath and began to squat. He could instantly feel the difference in the weights, but it was still manageable as he got back to standing. After the seventh squat he could feel his muscles burning, but he was determined to do this. He let out a growl as he did the ninth 'One more!'
"You got this!" A voice cheered on.
Cardin let out a victorious roar as he got to his feet and placed the bar back on the rack "Wooo!" He let out a cheer of his own.
"I guess you weren't all talk after all."
He turned to the voice and was met with the small redhead from yesterday "Hey, Shrimp." He smiled down to the girl.
"I told you yesterday, my name is Ruby!" She whined playfully "And you didn't even tell me your name!"
He laughed "Oh my bad, It's Cardin." He introduced himself, wiping his face with his towel.
"Nice to meet you Cardin!" Ruby beamed a happy smile his way "Do you mind spotting me? I was planning on doing some bench press and everyone else seems really creepy." She shuddered "Do you ever get that feeling?"
"What feeling?"
"Like you're being watched. I get it most days I come to the gym, It's one of the reasons I started to come this early. Less people, ya know?" She explained.
Cardin nodded, he knew what thirsty males were like in the gym, so he could understand the young girls worries "Yeah, I'll spot you." He agreed.
"Shiesssshhh!" Ruby stretched out her left arm and placed two fingers on it with her right.
"What was that?" Cardin eyed the girl in confusion.
"It's a meme..." Ruby replied embarrassedly "Let's just do this thing." She slinked away towards the bench press.
Cardin shook his head and followed the girl.
Ruby set up the weight on the bar and laid back on the bench, gripping the bar with both hands.
"You ready?" Cardin asked, standing above the girl. She nodded and he put his hands just under the bar.
Ruby began to breathe in a rhythm and slowly but surely, lifted the bar. She lowered it down to her chest and lifted it back with somewhat ease. She managed through the first set with no issues and sat up, taking a sip from her own bottle.
"How did you find that?" Cardin asked.
"Easy enough." She shrugged.
"Okay, well this time try pushing your shoulder blades together while lifting." He smirked at the girl who pouted in turn.
"When did you become a trainer, Shake Boy?" Ruby stuck her tongue out at the large boy "Thanks for helping me." She got back into position and grabbed the bar "Ready!"
"Gotcha." He placed his hands back under the bar.
Ruby could feel the difference in this next set, turns out doing things the proper way was harder than she thought. Still, she did the set with no issues yet again. There was a slight burning in her arms, but she was confident she could do one more set.
"All good?" Cardin asked after another minutes rest.
Ruby nodded "I got this." She sounded determined "Ready!"
She lifted the weight, bought it down, lifted it back up and repeated. Her breathing became heavier as she got closer to the end of the set and she started to struggle.
"Come on, Rubes! You can do this!" Cardin shouted his support as she lifted it once again "One more!" He called out as she slowly lowered the bar. She tried her hardest to life the bar back up, but just couldn't seem to get it. Luckily Cardin noticed this and helped lift the bar back onto the rack. "You're pretty good." He complimented.
"Th-Thanks..." She said through ragged breaths "I really thought I could do it..." She frowned.
Cardin threw her towel at her "You'll get there." He encouraged "I think that's that fun of the gym, progressing." He smiled.
"Shut up, meat head." She laughed "Thanks for helping me. It was really nice to test my limits without the danger of killing myself."
"Happy to help. Come on, I'll treat us to some shakes." He held his hand out for Ruby.
"With a strawberry on the top?" She asked, grabbing his hand and being pulled to her feet.
"Sure."
~~~Vale University~~~
Sun had his head resting on the desk as Professor Port drawled on about some scientific discovery his grandfather had discovered. Fortunately for Sun, his mind was elsewhere.
"Pumpkins and cranberries..." He muttered into his desk "Gotta get that profit..."
"Dude? Are you okay?" Russel poked the tired blonde boy.
"He's been like that all lecture." Yang, who was sat on the opposite side of Sun, also poked him "Wake up buddy."
"Mmngh..." Sun moaned "Only a few days left of Fall... Need five gold star pumpkin..."
"What do you think is wrong with him?" Russel asked the blonde girl.
"Beats me. Maybe he's just suffering from being an idiot?" She suggested "I would have expected this sooner from him though, if that was the case."
"Now who can tell me what fruit helps with UTI's?" Professor Port asked the class.
"Cranberries!" Sun screamed, waking himself up in the process.
"Excellent work, young man! I'm glad someone has been doing their allotted readings!" The professor congratulated the stunned boy.
"Umm what?" Sun asked "What just happened?" He turned to Yang and Russell "How did I get here?"
"Bro, you look like shit. You ever heard of sleep?" Russel laughed.
Sun let out a tired yawn "I was up all night playing this farming game..." He explained.
Russel quirked a brow "Stardew?"
"Yup."
"Is that it?" Yang asked "I thought you'd have a better excuse than that?"
"It's very addicting." The boys said in unison, sharing a knowing glance.
"Guess me and Ilia did go a little hard on the game." Sun admitted "We were playing for at least 16 hours." He leant on the desk, propping his head up with his arm.
"Ilia? You mean that weird girl who stalks Blake?" Yang asked in surprise.
"Misunderstanding." Sun waved off the accusation, knowing full well she was a stalker "She's not like that anymore."
"You're fucking crazy. Blake won't be happy about this?"
"So? I'm allowed to make my own friends." He shot the girl a lazy look before getting up out of his seat "I'm going to my dorm. See ya later, guys."
"Bye dude, get some sleep, yeah." Russel waved and turned to Yang once the boy had left "So, who's Ilia?"
"Shut up, Russel."
"Yes boss."
~~~Vale University~~~
"Have a good game." Neptune droned, handing a pair of bowling shoes over to the customer. If he was honest, he'd rather be at work than with his so called friends. Well, Jaune had done nothing wrong, but Sun, well, he hadn't done anything wrong either. Neptune just didn't know what to do with himself at the moment.
"Wow, fancy seeing you taking on extra shifts." Dew popped up in front of the counter in her casual clothes "Never thought I'd see the day." She mocked, her two friends giggling at the comment.
Neptune was in no mood to argue back and instead just shot her a smile "You look really cute today, Dew." He complimented "Game for three?"
Dew blushed and looked down "Um, yes please." She answered "We have our own shoes."
"No problem." Neptune tapped a few buttons on the screen "Lane 8 is all yours." He smiled "I hope you all have a good game."
"Tha- Thank you." Dew awkwardly thanked the boy before dragging off her friends to the lane. The last thing he heard was her friends asking about the handsome boy behind the counter.
"Another boring day." He sighed. Feeling a vibration in his pocket, he pulled out his phone and opened the message.
'Going to a friends for a study session. Won't be home tonight. From Jaune'
Neptune's head hit the counter. He hadn't seen his dorm mate once since he came back from his weekend away and was missing talking to one of his best friends "God I need more friends."
~~~Vale University~~~
"I didn't think you'd message me this soon." Weiss smiled from across the table. Jaune had messaged her saying he wanted to take her out for dinner and even had a hotel room booked for the two. Not that he wanted anything sexual from her, he told her he had just missed the feeling of her in his arms at night. Something she could agree with.
Jaune shrugged, sipping from his water "I guess I couldn't wait." He smiled back.
"You'll never guess who I bumped into yesterday." Weiss scanned the menu.
"I could say the same." Jaune laughed "You first though."
"Scarlet. He almost told Yang everything that happened on the weekend." Weiss explained "I owe him one cause I made him promise to not tell. And I was just starting to like the guy." She scoffed.
"What a dick." Jaune shook his head "Want me to have words with him?"
"Oh, is my big, strong boyfriend going to defend my honour?" She spoke mischievously.
"I'm the boyfriend now, huh?" Jaune smirked "And of course I would. Not that you need me to defend you."
"True. I can handle things myself." She grinned "So who did you bump into?"
"Pyrrha." He laughed "For some reason she was in my dorm when I got back."
"Oh."
"Relax, she just wanted to talk." Jaune assured her "It was actually quite nice to finally get everything off of my chest with her."
Weiss locked eyes with the blonde and her voice softened "As long as she didn't try anything funny with you."
Jaune smiled and placed his hand on hers "I'm out on a date with you, aren't I?" Causing the girl to blush.
"Fuck." The girls blush was replaced with a look of horror "Under the table, now." She said with a sense of urgency.
"What? Why?" Jaune asked in confusion, looking around to see what the problem was.
Blake walked in the restaurant and was currently talking to the greeter.
"Shit!" Jaune quickly ducked under the table cloth before he got spotted.
"Shh!" Weiss hissed.
"Weiss?" The cat girl called out "What are you doing here?" She asked, walking over to the table.
Weiss nudged Jaune with her foot and threw some hand signs under the cloth, telling him to move closer to her. The boy silently shuffled closer to Weiss and ended up sitting up in between her legs. Blake pulled out, what was, Jaune's chair and sat down.
Jaune let out a silent breath and rest his head on Weiss' thigh 'That was close...' He thought, as the girls continued to converse.
~~~Vale University~~~
"Are you sure everything is okay?" Dew asked for the 50th time. Her game of bowling had finished a while ago and her friends had already left, but she decided to stay and talk to Neptune.
"Yeah. I'm good." Neptune answered almost robotically as he cleaned down the sides. The alley was shut at this point and he just wanted to get out and crawl in a hole somewhere "Why are you still here anyway? You not want to hang out with your friends?"
"What kind of manager would I be if I didn't care for my staff?" She countered, absentmindedly twirling a lock of hair "You seem kind of depressed, so what's up?"
"Team leader." Neptune corrected "And nothing is wrong."
Dew hummed "You're a bad liar, you know? Okay, how about instead of talking, we go and get a drink?" She offered "My treat."
"I don't think that's a good idea." He shook his head, putting the spray bottle down and throwing away the dirty cloth.
"Come on~" She moaned "The Neptune I know would never turn down an invitation from a hot girl."
That made him chuckle "If I say yes will you stop asking me what's wrong?" He asked.
"Hmm, no promises." She smirked, shooting him a playful wink.
~~~Vale University~~~
"That food was really good." Weiss sighed in content.
"Yeah." Jaune agreed "I really liked the part where you were stroking my hair while I was stuck under the table." He gave a sarcastic laugh. The couple were currently walking towards the hotel he had booked for the night.
"Sorry, but I didn't know Blake would just randomly show up." Weiss laughed "I'm just glad she didn't expect anything."
Jaune shook his head "Gotta be careful around her. She knew before everyone else that we were sleeping with each other." He reminded her as they entered the building. Jaune went up to the front desk, gave his name and was handed a set of keys.
He led her up some stairs and down a hallway, stopping at door 7. He unlocked the door and the couple entered the room. They were met with a large open room with a double bed in the middle. A door was to the right as you entered which they assumed was the bathroom and there was a glass door on the other side of the room that led to a small balcony.
"That bed looks comfy..." Weiss said, kicking off her shoes and making her way over, collapsing onto the soft mattress.
Jaune let out a laugh "That tired? It's only just gone 11pm." He made his way over to her after removing his own shoes. He sat down next to her and started to stroke her hair.
"Unlike you, I had lectures today." She rolled over, now looking up at him, a smug little smile now present.
"I don't have any lectures on Tuesdays." He quipped back, leaning over her and moving his face closer to hers. "And besides," He gave her a quick kiss on the lips, before sitting back up "I think you go to too many lectures." He grinned.
Weiss tugged his arm and he let himself be pulled down next to her "Does an intelligent female scare you?" She placed her hand on his cheeks and returned with a quick kiss of her own.
"Yes." He laughed, pulling the girls body closer to his "Absolutely terrified."
Weiss giggled "Shut up, moron." She cozied into the boy and shut her eyes "I've missed this..."
"Me too." Jaune agreed "So let's make the most of the time we have." He kissed her neck.
Weiss rolled over "Yes, let's." Her lips once again found the blonde boys.
