AN this is my first attempt at trying a chapter in one of the other's POVs. Hopefully, I did it well and kept close to how the character would act, and he switched to a different movie halfway into the chapter, so, hopefully not confusing, enjoy.
Disclaimer I don't own anything.
Chapter 44 Kurt's less favorite movies.
Kurt tried not to laugh at Loki; he did try, and Loki standing there with his hands on his hips, glaring at him did not help Kurt's uncontrollable laughter; he knew this wasn't a time for being amused; they were in a serious situation, but really, it wasn't every day one saw a thousand and forty-nine-year-old God standing in front of them wearing Bermuda shorts, a Hawaiian shirt, and white knee-high socks complete with sandals, the mad look mixed with embarrassment on Loki's face made it funnier. No matter how many times Loki used his magic to change, the outfit quickly changed back, and he looked so ridiculous Kurt couldn't help but laugh.
When Loki had first realized Kurt was laughing at him, he looked down and cried out, "What the bloody hell am I wearing" with so much anger, it had sent Kurt over the edge with laughter he couldn't stop. Kurt knew he was a lucky man because if he had been anyone else standing there laughing at Loki to his face, they would be dead by now; he was never more glad of the close friendship they had formed so quickly; it was the only reason he was still alive.
Kurt took a couple of deep breaths and was finally able to control his laughter. He looked at Loki and had to look away quickly or else risk laughing again.
"Are you finished?" Loki demanded. Just as Rogue sat the car back down, a hubcap next to the tire Loki was standing by popped off and smacked his leg; cussing in Asgardain; Loki kicked the hubcap sending it flying across the desert, taking off the top of a cactus.
"You're lucky you didn't lose one of your sandals doing that," Kurt said, smirking.
"These are not mine," Loki said, pointing down at his feet, Rogue who had been walking by Kurt to get into the car, burst out laughing; Loki glared at them both.
"I do not see why you two are laughing at me; you are in clothes as bad as mine," Loki said.
Kurt looked down at himself; he figured to someone else what he was wearing was alright, but Kurt never was too fond of khakis and polo shirts; Kurt still had his boots on, Mojo probably didn't have any that would fit his weird feet, and they didn't go with the khakis, but at least he wasn't wearing socks with sandals.
Rogue, on the other hand, wasn't dressed too bad, though Kurt had to admit it looked more like something Saphira would wear, a short pink dress, ruffled at the bottom, with one strap that went around the back of Rogue's neck, was a bit low cut in the front, and she had on a pair of pink high heels.
"Alright, if you children will stop clowning around, maybe we should go." Mystique said, from behind Loki; all three turned to her, took one look at the "World's Greatest Mom" t-shirt she had on, and burst out laughing.
Mystique rolled her eyes, mumbled something about ungrateful kids, and opened the car door, and got in on the driver-side. The three siblings looked at one another and laughed again, and It didn't help matters that Mojo had put Mystique in mom jeans.
Kurt walked around the car with Loki, got in the back; as Loki got in the front passenger side, Rouge was the last to get in; Mystique started the car and pulled out.
"What exactly are we supposed to be doing?" Loki demanded, "We are in a movie, right? Who watches people drive down the road? How is that entertaining?"
"Going by the flat tire we had and the hubcap falling off, I'm guessing family comedy." Rogue explained, "We're on a road trip, and the car is probably going to keep falling apart piece by piece as we go." As if the car wanted to prove her right, Mystique hit a pothole, and they heard another hubcap pop off.
"I hate comedies," Loki mumbled. "Do Midgardains find cars falling apart funny?"
"It's usually just more added to other things going on." Kurt replied, "And how can you hate comedies?"
"They are never funny," Loki replied, "They are ridiculous and never make any sense."
"That's the point," Kurt argued.
"It's a stupid point," Loki replied, crossing his arms.
Kurt didn't take Loki's snappy attitude personally; he knew he was just worried about Saphira and a bit upset; he hadn't been able to figure out how to get them out of here, back in the glass cage, Loki had tried to teleport out, it wouldn't work. Kurt tried teleporting out, that didn't work; they tried combining their powers to teleport together, again it didn't work, Loki had become so frustrated he started punching the cage, then the screen began showing Saphira and Nebula's fight, Loki had stopped everything to watch, cheering Saphira on when she was winning, and the few times Nebula got the upper hand, Loki would call her every name he could think of, and list off many ways he could torture Nebula, really Loki could be scary sometimes.
"Do you even like movies at all?" Mystique demanded, "I've noticed you are always reading whenever someone has one on."
"There are a few movies I like," Loki replied, "But I'd rather read."
"I like a good book also," Kurt replied, "But I've only seen you read spellbooks or something educational; you barely read any fiction; when you do, it's always something dark and depressing."
It was true, Kurt has gone through Loki's collection of books he brought along, he's seen a few were of Asgardain stories and fairytales, and a few Midgardain books like Edgar Allan Poe, Frankenstein, Dracula, and surprisingly Grimes Fairytales, and weirdly a book on conjuring armies but Kurt hasn't seen Loki reading any of them. When Kurt thought more about it if it wasn't magic or education, Loki's books were dark and depressing themes, went with the kind of movies Kurt watched with him, dark, sad, or horror, out of the films he could get Loki to pay attention to, The Crow so far has been Loki's Favorite.
"I've seen the movies; you watch, Sugar," Rogue said, "Maybe you wouldn't be so morbid if you watched something more cheerful."
"Let me guess; I'm the character in the movie everyone picks on?" Loki demanded.
"We are not picking on you," Kurt answered, "Give less depressing movies a chance, laugh, be happy."
"I'm happy; whoever said I wasn't?" Loki demanded; Rogue and Kurt looked at each other and rolled their eyes.
"I have an idea; we'll have a movie night," Kurt said, "All of us, the whole family, and we'll watch some funny movies."
"Disney movies are pretty good," Rogue spoke up, "We can start with The Lion King."
Kurt covered his mouth to hide his smile; he knew why Rogue had picked The Lion King because he and she watched it when bored one night while waiting for Mystique to return from wherever the hell she went and found themselves comparing Mufasa and Scar to Thor and Loki.
"No, thank you," Loki replied, "I'm not spending a night watching children's movies."
"Disney movies have villains in them." Mystique said.
"Really? " Loki asked, looking at her as they lost their last hubcap.
"Yes, and I'm sure you'll love a few of them." Kurt put in.
"Shit!" Mystique suddenly cried out; as the front driver side wheel suddenly popped off, then the hood flew up, blocking the view as the car went out of control. Mystique turned the steering wheel to the left, sending them driving through the desert. They hit a giant cactus which finished taking off the hood; for them to see, they were heading straight towards a cliff; Mystique tried to slam on the breaks, but they wouldn't work.
"Kurt, grab Rogue," Loki demanded before grabbing hold of Mystique's arm and teleporting out of the car; Kurt then grabbed Rogue and did the same; they appeared next to Mystique and Loki in time for the car to go over the cliff edge, then seconds later it exploded.
"I don't suppose this is a part of the comedy?" Loki demanded.
"Actually..." Rogue began.
"For the of love Thor." Loki cursed, turning and heading towards the road, mumbling something about it being too hot.
Kurt didn't know how long they had been walking down the road; he did know it had been long enough to make his feet and legs hurt; Rogue was limping because the heels hurt her feet, but she was stuck in them because the road was too hot to walk barefoot and Loki and Mystique were walking in front of them, plotting Star-Lord's murder, which so far involved Mystique shifting into Gamora and distracting Star-Lord while Loki stabbed him from behind.
"They are so much alike it's scary," Rogue mumbled. Kurt nodded his head; it was true; he noticed himself while spending so much time together. He was pretty sure neither one of them had realized that.
"Hang on!" Loki said, stopping in the middle of the road and turning where he could look at all of them. "What are we doing? Where are we even going?"
"We're walking down the road," Rogue answered. "Where to? I have no clue."
"You said this movie was a road trip movie," Loki said, "Do people not have a destination in mind when going on road trips?"
"Usually." Kurt nodded, "They make it there at the end of the movie. In ones like these, it's either a relative's house or theme park."
"Only other relatives I have are in Asgard or New York." Loki said, "I highly doubt this road leads to either the Rainbow Bridge or New York City, so I guess theme park? Woohoo, I can not contain my excitement with the thoughts of the fun that awaits us."
Loki turned around and started walking again, while Kurt glared at his back; it was beginning to get harder for him not to take Loki's attitude personally; he was acting like such an ass, they were all stuck here, not just him; he could cut everyone some slack. Rogue must have silently agreed with him as she took off her heels and stepped off the road onto the sand.
"Hey, Jackass!" Rogue called, tossing one of the heels at him, striking Loki on the back of the head; he turned around, glaring at her while he held the spot the shoe hit. Before Loki could do or say anything else, she tossed the other shoe at him, striking him on the shoulder. Loki glanced at his shoulder in surprise.
"Stop taking everything out on us, in case you haven't noticed; we are trapped here with no way out the same as you," Rogue said, voice raised, "We are all put in clothes we would never choose to wear ourselves, you are not the only one, yes, socks with sandals is ugly, but at least your feet aren't hurting because of heels, that if you take off the road burns your feet. You also aren't the only one separated from their spouse with no idea what might be happening to them. So, stop acting as if you are, and stop being a bitch to us, because we didn't put you here, we didn't take Saphira and put her somewhere else, we are all supposed to be in this together, we are supposed to be a family."
Rogue ended her rant with her hands on her hips and glaring at Loki, who said nothing for a long while; he glanced at Rogue's left hand, then turned away again, then looked back at Rogue, then down at her feet. Loki turned away again, pulled at his shirt as if it was starting to bother him, and Kurt could see the sweat running down Loki's face. It was starting to get hotter out.
"Well?" Rogue demanded. "Do you have anything to say for yourself?"
"Here," Loki said, stepping out of the sandals, and to Rogue's shock, he used his foot to slide them over to her, then turned and started walking down the road, mumbling about annoying little sisters and becoming too soft.
Rogue looked down at the sandals, a moment; Loki has good size feet, so they were going to be big on her, but Kurt figured it was better than the hot road or heels, as Rogue, now smiling, slipped her feet into them, then hurried to catch up to Loki, they walked in silence a few minutes before Rogue started telling Loki all about her and Gambit's wedding; Loki laughed then started telling Rogue about him and Saphira eloping to Las Vegas during their invasion.
As they walked on, and the time flew by, the sun was high in the sky, making the heat scorching; by then, Loki had taken his shirt off and was trying to fan himself with his hand, the sun beaming down on them wasn't giving him any relief from the heat, they were all dying of thirst and covered in sweat. But Loki was taken it worse than any of them. He looked as if he was going to collapse any moment.
"Is he alright?" Rogue asked. They stopped as Loki sat down on a large rock sitting on the side of the road; he took off his socks and tossed them across the street. Then put his face in his hands.
"He'll be fine once we get out of this heat." Mystique answered, "It's his Jotunn blood; the heat is getting to him; that's why he's been so irritable."
"He looks exhausted," Kurt observed.
"The heat is draining his energy." Mystique said, "I don't think he's ever been indirect heat like this before."
"If only there were something we could do to help him." Rogue replied, "He needs shade, somewhere cool."
Just then, they heard the sound of a car driving down the road; they turned and looked; then Mystique glanced back at Loki, who was now holding his hair up while fanning his face with his hand again; it looked as if he was starting to have trouble breathing. Mystique frowned, watching him a moment, then turned back to the car and suddenly shifted into a tall, leggy blonde. She took off her shirt as she started to walk in its direction, then, to Kurt's horror, took her jeans off, leaving her only in bra and underwear.
"Mother!" Kurt cried, covering his eyes. "What are you doing?"
"Helping my son." Mystique replied; she stopped at the side of the road and held out her thumb; the male driver slammed on his breaks, opened the car door, got out, and leered at Mystique.
"Well, hello, there..." That's all the guy could say, as Mystique suddenly gave him an uppercut right in the nose; his head flew back. Then he just crumbled to the ground.
"Rogue, bring me my clothes and get this piece of human fifth out of the road," Mystique called over, turning back blue, "Kurt, get your brother in the car."
Kurt ran over to Loki and helped him to his feet; he stumbled a bit, so Kurt had to help him walk; while Mystique put her clothes back on, Rogue pulled the guy out of the road, and Kurt helped Loki into the vehicle, which already felt cool, the owner must have already had on the air conditioner.
"I'm killing Mojo," Loki told him, "His movies suck."
"Yeah, they're my least favorite ones," Kurt agreed; Loki chuckled as he made sure the air vent was facing right on Loki while Mystique turned the air conditioner on full blast.
"That feels good," Loki said, leaning back and closing his eyes while Kurt shut the door and got in the back where Rogue already was. Mystique pulled away; Loki opened his eyes and looked at her. " Thank you, Rav; Loki paused a moment, took a breath, then said, "Mum."
"You're welcome," Mystique said, smiling; Kurt also smiled as he leaned back, enjoying being in a nice cool car; his eyes started dropping, and he couldn't help but fall asleep. Two hours later, as it turned dark, Mystique was the only one awake when a giant theme park came into view.
"Kurt Wagner." A soft voice said; Kurt groaned and refused to open his eyes, then someone shook his shoulder. "Kurt Wagner. Kurt Wagner." The annoying voice wouldn't go away, and it kept shaking him, saying Kurt Wagner over and over again.
Kurt ignored it then drifted back to sleep; he didn't want to answer whoever was weirdly calling him by both names; he only wanted to sleep in this comfortable bed, the sheets felt nice and cool, the comforter was nice and soft, it was nice after walking in a desert for hours. Then the voice laid their hand on his forehead and said.
"Wake." Kurt's eyes flew open, and he sat up and looked around; he was no longer in Mystique's stolen car, with his family, but lying in a large comfortable bed in a room he was pretty sure was in a castle; next to him in bed was, Mantis, the newest Guardian of the Galaxy member.
Startled, Kurt let out a scream, which caused Mantis to scream for some reason, then the door burst open, making them both jump; as Drax charging in with a large knife in his hand, he paused, looked between Kurt and Mantis, then threw his hand over his eyes. He threw his hand over his eyes, screamed, then ran back out, saying something about he would wait for them to get done. Kurt turned to Mantis to see her frowning at the door. Drax just ran back out; then she turned back to him.
"Where are we?" Mantis asked as Kurt looked around the room; everything looked medieval, so they were in a fantasy movie.
"I'm not sure," Kurt answered; he jumped when Mantis touched his tail, then moved further away from her, which made Kurt lose his balance and fall off the bed with a big thump. Mantis gasped in concern and looked over the bed down at him.
"Are you okay, Kurt Wagner?" Mantis asked; Kurt groaned and rubbed his head; when he looked up to answer her, his eyes grew wide, and he quickly looked away; Mantis was wearing a white silk night grown that was a little see-through and didn't do much to hide her body underneath, he then decided to look at what he had on, to be embarrassed to see Kurt had been sitting in front of a woman he barely knew in just his underwear. He quickly grabbed the sheet that fell off the bed with him and covered himself up.
"I'm fine." Kurt said, "But you might want to." He mimicked covering himself up with the sheet, and though Mantis seemed confused by it, she grabbed the cover and covered herself up; thankfully, Kurt got a feeling she wasn't used to being around other people.
"You are embarrassed," Mantis said. "You do not have to be; you are still pretty, even with no clothes on."
"Um...we should probably find something more appropriate to wear anyway," Kurt said, standing; he wrapped the sheet around his waist, then tied it, then walked over to the wardrobe, praying they were clothes in it. When he opened it, he sighed in relief; they were primarily male clothes, but Kurt found two medieval-style dresses that might fit Mantis and pulled them out; he faced her and held them up, making sure to keep his eyes on her face.
"Green or blue?" Kurt asked.
"Blue," Mantis answered, and Kurt handed it to her; then turned back to the wardrobe to allow her to change, he grabbed a pair of trousers out of the closet, did some magic on them to make a place in the back to stick his tail through, then slipped them on. He then slipped a shirt on, found his boots, and went over to the bed sat at the end to put them on; Mantis sat next to him; she now had the dress on, but it was sliding down the front, where she couldn't reach the zipper in the back.
"Kurt Wagner," Mantis said. "I can't reach the back of the dress. Could you help?"
"Oh...umm, sure turn around," Kurt told her. "You can call me Kurt; no need to add my last name."
"Last name? " Mantis asked, looking confused.
"On my planet, people typically have two names," Kurt answered, "Sometimes three."
"You mean like Quil," Mantis answered, "He has three names. Star-Lord Peter Quil."
"Yeah, like your friend Quil," Kurt answered; she turned to face him, then grabbed his hand and looked at it.
"You don't have five fingers," Mantis said, "Does everyone on your planet look like you?"
"No," Kurt answered, pulling his hand away. "I'm from Earth. Most people on my planet look like Quil."
"Quil is from Terra," Mantis said; Kurt frowned. He could have swear Quil was from Earth. "Why do you not look like others from Earth?"
"I'm what they call a mutant," Kurt explained, "I was born with a mutation that made me look different."
"Oh," Mantis said. Kurt stood.
"Maybe we should find Drax; we can find a way out of here," Kurt suggested.
"Okay," Mantis agreed, then she and Kurt walked out into the corridor to find Drax leaning against the wall waiting for them.
"Good, you are done," Drax said, getting off the wall. "Which way should we go."
Kurt looked up and down the corridor; one way was dark and gloomy, the other way had windows, so a small amount of light was shining through. Kurt looked back down at the darker end to see men in medieval armor run past, then Kurt turned back to Drax.
"I have watched enough horror movies with my brother to know you shouldn't go into the dark," Kurt said. So, they headed in the direction with the window; Drax walked next to Kurt, and Mantis followed behind them; as they walked, they could hear more running and shouting, even screaming coming in the windows from outside.
"So what is a horror movie?" Drax asked.
"It's a movie with scary themes," Kurt said, "A movie is something like a play, but filmed on type where you can watch as many times as you want; Mojo, the guy who brought us here, has us trapped in one, and we have dozens of people watching us.
"Interesting," Drax answered. "I will have to see if Quil knows where we can get a hold of some movies to watch. " He patted Kurt on the back. "How was the lay?"
"What?" Kurt demanded, looking at Drax in surprise.
"No need to be shy; my friends and I back on my home planet told tales of being with our wives to one another all the time," Drax explained.
"That...that's not right," Kurt replied, "And Mantis and I did nothing; we appeared there like that, asleep."
"I do not blame you." Drax said, obviously not believing him, "I would not admit to lying with her either, for she is ugly." Kurt stopped walking and looked over at Drax, then behind them were Mantis.
"She's not ugly." Kurt frowned back at Drax. "You shouldn't say things like that. It's not kind."
"I am not a kind man," Drax told him. "I'm Drax the Destroy, I...destroy things."
Kurt turned his head away so Drax wouldn't see him roll his eyes; just then, the castle started shaking a little, and they could hear shouting outside again. It grew dark in the corridor for a moment as if a cloud covered the sun, but then it was gone, and the light was back.
"You are annoyed," Mantis said, stepping closer to him and lowering her voice, "Don't let him get to you; Drax says things like that to everyone."
"He shouldn't say things like that to people," Kurt answered, not sure why he was getting this upset, probably because it was too close to what he had to put up with all his life for looking different. That's why Kurt had enjoyed being in space so much; everyone looked different, so nobody batted an eye at how he looked.
"Quil said Drax doesn't realize what he is saying; he's a bit slow," Mantis told him. Kurt snorted.
"I am not slow; I'm fast," Drax said; Kurt was starting to understand why Loki got annoyed so quickly. Thinking of Loki got Kurt a little worried; he hoped what movie Loki was now in, it was taking place in the winter, with lots of snow.
"You are annoyed again and becoming worried," Mantis said, "I can feel it."
"What do you mean?" Kurt asked.
"Mantis has empathy." Drax put in, "She can feel our emotion. It's fun; you should try."
"It is true," Mantis said; "I can also manipulate others' emotions, put them to sleep, and wake them up."
"That...that must come in handy," Kurt replied; he had to admit if Mantis could do that, it was impressive. Mantis's cheeks turned a little pink, and she looked down, suddenly acting shy. Kurt realized Mantis must have felt his thoughts. When she looked up at him, Mantis smiled a little at him, Kurt smiled back.
"OUT OF THE WAY!" Someone shouted; Kurt grabbed Mantis's hand and pulled them against the wall as a group of men dressed in medieval armor and carrying weapons ran by. The castle shook again, and more yelling, and screams came from outside; the three went to a window and looked out; at first, they didn't see anything, but then a dragon flew overhead, and the people on the ground started shooting arrows at it, and then some mechanical thing tossed chains at it, then pulled it to ground, where the dragon began to struggle, and shoot fire out.
"A giant beast to battle," Drax said, then to Kurt's surprise, he climbed up in the window.
"What are you..." Kurt tried to ask, but Drax jumped out the window. Kurt watched as he landed several feet below and went running towards the dragon.
"We better help him," Mantis said and started climbing into the window; Kurt reached out and stopped her.
"I can get us down there in a much safer way," Kurt told her. "If you'll allow me." Mantis agreed, and Kurt put his arm around her waist, then teleported them in a puff of smoke.
"That was awesome...I think." Mantis said as they appeared on the ground. "Yes...awesome. That's what Quil says." Kurt smiled a little as he let her go.
They quickly spotted Drax trying to get close to the dragon with his large knives; they headed towards him; the dragon lifted its head and growled, smoking coming out of his nose, as its tail smacked around, it was angry about being chained down.
"He is furious," Mantis warned, as they joined in on trying to subdue the dragon, Drax trying to get close to it, Kurt tries to help everyone else was either shooting arrows at it or running around trying to put out the fires it was causing. Kurt tried to use magic on the dragon, but it didn't work. Drax was now close enough to cut him, but his blades were useless against the dragon's tough skin.
"I have an idea," Kurt said, popping up next to Mantis. "Is your abilities strong enough to work on him?"
"I can try. " Mantis answered, "But..."
"What is it?" Kurt asked; he looked at her and realized she was frightened.
"I will have to get real close, and he's so big," Mantis answered. "And he wants to kill us all."
"Umm, that's scary." Kurt replied, "I'll be with you, I'll hold onto you, and if I think anything is going to happen to either of us, I'll teleport us out of there quickly. I wouldn't ask, but if we don't do something, well, as you said, he wants to kill us."
Mantis didn't answer at first. Instead, she looked around at all the destruction it was causing, then after a moment of watching Drax charge at the thing and try to climb on, she turned back to Kurt.
"Okay, as long as you are with me, I will try," Mantis replied; Kurt took her hand then teleported them both onto the back of the dragon; they walked up the beast's back and towards its neck. Mantis stumbled and almost fell, but Kurt caught her and helped her get her footing; they walked the rest of the way up to its neck. Kurt helped her climb upon its head; the Dragon didn't even realize they were there; as Mantis sat down and laid her hands on its head, Kurt sat at what he thought was an inappropriate distance behind her, then reached forward and held onto her sides.
At first, nothing changed; the dragon still thrust around and blowing flames; but after a moment, the dragon started getting calmer and stopped fighting; then it flopped down on its stomach, tongue sticking out and panting like a dog, while its tail wagged.
Mantis took a deep breath and said, "Sleep."
The dragon's eyes rolled in the back of his head, and he started falling onto its side; Kurt gripped Mantis's waist and teleported them both to the ground opposite from where the dragon was falling; they appeared there just as the dragon fell on it's a side with a loud bang, causing the ground to shake a couple of seconds, the dragon snorted, black smoke came out of its nostrils then nothing.
"Yes," Drax yelled, "I slayed the beast."
Kurt rolled his eyes as he saw Drax's blade barely sticking into the dragon's side. He couldn't honestly think he defeated the dragon, could he?
"He does that a lot," Mantis whispered to him. Kurt turned to her to say something when a woman suddenly screamed behind them; Kurt and Mantis turned to see an older woman pointing at Kurt.
"It is thy devil." She screamed; Kurt frowned and looked down as more women looked his way and screamed. Mantis took his hand, trying to comfort him.
"Why is everyone screaming." Drax demanded, "I know they are ugly, but it's nothing to scream about."
Kurt didn't know if he was spending too much time with Loki, or maybe he was sick of being in these movies, or if Drax was just that annoying, but something was tempting Kurt to go over and pull Drax's blade out of the dragon and stab him with it.
Before he could act on that thought, though, the rest of the villagers gathered around them; they noticed how different they looked from the others and started calling them names, like the devil, demon, and witch; then come after them, chatting burn them.
Kurt, Mantis, and Drax had to fight them; Kurt was popping in and out all over the place, kicking, punching, and throwing magic; he already knew Drax could fight, but it came to no surprised to him that Mantis could also, after a while they started to get overwhelmed and Mantis took a step back, took a deep breath then screamed out.
"SLEEP!"
All at once, the villagers fell around them asleep; Kurt stood there out of breath, with his hand on his hips; Mantis opened her mouth to say something, but then there was a loud bang to their side; Kurt got in front of Mantis, ready to fight off any attack, only to see Drax out cold lying on his back. Kurt walked over to him; he reached down to check his pulse when Drax suddenly snorted loud, making Kurt jump back, then started snoring.
Kurt looked at Mantis; he smiled, then started laughing; after a second, Mantis joined in, he knew this wasn't a time to be amused; there isn't anything to laugh about, but who could blame them with everything they went through in the last few hours; they deserved a good laugh.
AN I just wanted to point out I wasn't making Drax mean or bashing him, but in GOG2, he does tell Mantis she's ugly a few times. Just to keep him close to the character in the movies, no idea how he acts in the comics.
