AN: Not much happens in this chapter, no action or anything, more of a filer as they get back into finding out about Soul Stone or trying to at least. There are some time skips throughout this chapter. Hopefully, it isn't too confusing.
Chapter 47: More Discoveries.
Saphira stood in front of the kitchen counter, taken a bite out of a danish pastry; it was around eleven in the morning, and she had just gotten out of bed; she figured Loki had been up for hours already and probably in the library with Kurt a few days earlier he had finally got back to teaching Kurt magic and being a sweetheart like he was Loki had left Saphira to sleep in because he knew she hadn't gotten much sleep last night, nor the night before or even the night before that; the lack of sleep was because the little one in her womb decided to start moving and kicking, which at times broke some of the ice inside her, causing it to jab into Saphira. Which was painful; it felt like someone was inside her, sticking her with needles. And he decided to be more active at night.
Smiling, Saphira took another bite of her breakfast as she thought about her baby; she now had a noticeable baby bump; the first time Saphira had noticed it, she had left her room and ran down the corridor screaming for Loki; she didn't think and had been so excited, the others had been startled by her yells, they thought Saphira had gotten attacked. Then Saphira announced that she was getting fat; at first, they thought she was upset about it, but then were shocked to learn Saphira was happy; out of all the people to be excited about gaining weight, Saphira wasn't one they would have thought would be, not with how proud of her looks she's always been. But as she explained, it met her baby was growing.
It was getting close to the end of May, Saphira was entering her fourth month, and she was happy and felt loved and like she was a part of a real family; it took weeks, but she got over the hurt and anger she felt after what Bard had done, it was all thanks to Loki and their new family. When they had teleported back to the ship, she and Loki had cleaned up then helped fix the craft and got back into space before explaining what had happened; the Guardians of the Galaxy had already been gone when they appeared, Rocket having repaired their ship, while the rest were stuck in Mojoverse. Saphira had spent the next few days shut up in her room, not wanting to see anyone. The fact Enid admitted to knowing about their parents still being alive had made her mood worse and had caused a massive argument between the two sisters. It got even worse to find out Bard had disappeared from their manor; after letting Enid know what happened, Thor went to Asgard right away, only to go up to their old house to find Bard gone, so his wound hadn't killed him. He was still out there alive somewhere.
For the first few days, Saphira wouldn't leave her room and only spoke to Loki; and he had to bring her food since she refused to leave their room. After three days, she got bored and started leaving her room to find things to do, tend to her plants, watch movies, and play games; everyone was understanding and patient with her, even if Saphira couldn't understand herself why it bothered her so much that Bard hated her, or that he or her Mother thought fit never to find their daughters, instead replace them with a son. Saphira was just a wreck of confusing emotions. Which finally caused her to lose it altogether; one day, after taking a shower and getting dressed, she took a good look at her ruined hair, the hair that she had refused any help with fixing the last couple of weeks, and not only did Saphira turn the mirror over in a burst of anger but also knocked off or knocked over anything and everything that wasn't a part of the spaceship, she destroyed their room, which helped her get out all that anger.
When Loki walked into the room a few minutes later, her anger had gone away, and she was sitting on the floor crying; he didn't say anything, just walked over, sat next to her, and held her; it didn't take long until the rest had entered the room and was hugging her too. Letting her know she didn't need Bard or her Mother, she was part of a family that had grown to care about each other a great deal. After that, Saphira had started feeling better, hung out with the others, spent time with Loki, played with the cats, and went back to writing down baby names; she even called and made up with Enid. The one blood relative she was always able to rely on.
They all started acting like actual family, hanging out together and having movies nights or game nights; Loki and Kurt talked Mystique into joining in; every other Saturday night was sibling movie night, where Rogue, Kurt, and Loki watched movies together and got to know each other. At the same time, Remy, Mystique, and Saphira played cards in another room. They had nights where everyone watched movies; then there were nights when just the women watched movies while the guys hung out doing whatever. They had nights everyone played games. To be stuck on a spaceship, they were all having fun and growing closer and even teasing one another without the other taking it seriously. Remy and Loki loved teasing Kurt about the phone calls he was getting from Mantis; Rogue had given her her cellphone and showed her how to call Kurt, who swore they were only friends.
Rogue was the one who helped Saphira fix her hair; there hadn't been much they could do except cut it short to even it out and let it grow back; Saphira was thankful it was still longer than Enid's at least; her curls now laid on top of her shoulders, so, she still had something she can fix and put up when she wanted to. Saphira had first asked Loki to help her, but he had been unable to bring himself to cut off the rest of her hair, then offered to wear his hair short, which Saphira would not allow him to do; she loved the way he looked with the long hair too much.
The fact she still hadn't found the Soul Stone was on Saphira's mind more and more; she felt as if she was close to an answer, she even took to studying some of the old maps Loki had brought with them and had in the library; Saphira had laid out a large piece of construction paper, along with markers, pencils, rulers, notebooks and astronomy books. Saphira was coping the newest map they had while adding planets and stuff from old maps to it; by doing so, she hoped to come up with new places to check, and if these planets were no longer there, they could mark them off, and she was able to mark off places they've been and not ruin their actual maps. Saphira was also reading Loki's astrology books and marking off planets that no longer existed, and making notes of important stuff. Saphira used the notebook to write down any facts and information that wouldn't fit on the map; she put a lot of work into what she was doing.
Saphira finished her danish and was now pouring hot water into two mugs to make herself some hot chocolate and Loki a cup of tea; her bringing Loki a cup to the library had become routine since she got up later than him now and was usually up at a time Loki fixed himself some. He had always liked a cup of tea before lunch.
When Saphira entered the library, she spotted Kurt and Loki almost immediately; they were sitting at a table not far from Saphira's table and were using an illusion of a chessboard and pieces to play a game of chess. When Saphira got closer, she noticed Loki's chess pieces were of eight tiny Remy LeBeau's as pawns, two little Asgard palaces as rooks, two Heimdails as bishops, two Thor's for knights, and of course one Saphira as queen and a Loki for a king, Kurt's pieces were made up of X-MEN members with their school as a rook.
"Really?" Saphira asked as she walked up to their table, "You guys couldn't make illusions of normal chess pieces?"
"Loki thought this would make it harder to create the illusion," Kurt explained, "More challenging."
"Thank you, darling," Loki said, taking the tea she handed him with a smile and taking a sip. "Perfect as usual. Did you have a nice sleep-in?"
"Yes, and thank you for not waking me when you got up this morning," Saphira said as she took a sip from her hot chocolate.
"I see you helped yourself to my clothes again," Loki replied, looking at the black sweater Saphira was wearing.
"It matches my black sweatpants." Saphira shrugged, "Besides, your sweaters are so comfortable and soft, I have to wear them."
"Is that so?" Loki asked, smiling as Saphira leaned down to kiss him before turning and heading towards her work table; Loki turned back to his chess game with Kurt. Since they couldn't touch the illusion, they had to use their ability to control it to get the pieces to move, which made it even more challenging.
A few hours later, Saphira sat the marker down to check over her work and to give her hand a rest; there was this one place on one of Loki's old maps that were bothering her, it was half of a dot on the edge of the map, it looked as if it was a planet, but they didn't have room to put the whole thing, it was important enough to add. But nothing was saying what it was like everything else. Saphira drew it on her map and wrote "Unknown Something" next to it, then tried to move on and added other things. But Saphira's mind kept going back to the half dot; she had a feeling it was important but no idea why.
Saphira looked over towards Loki and Kurt; their chess game had stopped an hour ago, and they moved on to something else. Saphira stood, picked up the map, and headed to them.
"Sorry to interrupt," Saphira said, "But, babe, do you know what that is?"
"What, what is, love?" Loki asked; Saphira laid the map out in front of him and pointed at the half dot. "Sorry, darling, I have no idea."
"It's weird, don't you think?" Saphira asked, "Out of everything on the map, it's the only one that's not fully drawn or marked as to what it is."
"Yes, that is a little strange," Loki replied.
"It's probably just a star or something, not important enough to add a name," Kurt suggests.
"If it's not that important, then why add it at all?" Saphira demanded, "Why not just leave it off?"
"No idea," Kurt replied.
"Well, anyway, I've added it to my map," Saphira said, picking up the map and about to head back to her table. "I'll try figuring it out later."
"What do you mean you added it to your map?" Loki asked, looking up at her.
"The map I've been making," Saphira replied, pointing over to her table. "That's what I've been working on; I'm combining all our maps into one."
"May I?" Loki asked, nodding towards Saphira's table; she nodded, and Loki stood and walked over to have a look; Kurt went with him, and Saphira followed behind them, carrying the old map.
"Oh wow," Kurt said, "You have everything left off the new map put in the exact spots they're supposed to be in, and the coordinates are accurate, and you added notes and everything, Saphira this is amazing."
"Amazing?" Saphira asked, "Kurty, It's just a map." She looked at Loki to see him looking over the map with a look of pride on his face.
"Saphira, you put a lot of thought and effort into making this, and the fact you were able to draw a map that's a combination of all these maps sitting here and get every little detail accurate is impressive." Kurt told her, "Loki said you were more brilliant than you give yourself credit for."
Surprised, Saphira looked back towards Loki, who was looking at her; he gave her a wink, then went back to looking over the map. He frowned at the half dot. Saphira knew the look on his face; it was one he wore when deep in thought.
"Brother, do you mind if we cut the magic lesson short today?" Loki asked Kurt.
"No, that's fine; I was starting to get a bit hungry anyway," Kurt answered; he said a few more things, then left the library, and Loki pulled out a chair for Saphira.
"Have a seat, darling. Together we should be able to figure it out." Loki replied. Loki and Saphira sat down; she picked up an astronomy book, hoping to find what the dot might be in it; Loki picked up a pencil and her notebook and began writing down the coordinates of everything else on the map.
"See, all the other stars and constellations are marked." Saphira said, "I think it was necessary to whoever made this old map; to have a way to get to this place, but it looks like they didn't want anyone else to get there, so they added a half a dot to give themselves directions while hiding those directions or hoping it fooled anyone else looking at the map to either not see it or think it's not important."
"You do have a point," Loki told her.
"I have been looking in your astronomy books, but I'm not even sure if I would know this dot if it was in there," Saphira told him.
"Well, I have coordinates for you now," Loki told her, showing her the notebook. "Should be easier for you to find a name, with a location."
Saphira smiled as she looked at her notebook; her genius husband had written down the coordinates for everything, then used that to calculate and figure out the coordinates for the half-dot; it didn't take him long to do either.
"You know, babe, you should challenge my sister for the God of intelligence title. " Saphira joked as she picked up a pen and wrote the coordinates next to the half dot on her map.
"And have Thor bash me in the head with Mjolnir, no thank you." Loki snorted. "I'm getting a bit hungry myself; come on, darling, let's go fix us a late lunch, then come back to this after we eat."
"Okay." Saphira agreed, and she put her stuff down and headed off to the kitchen.
May soon turned to June, and Saphira nights of restless sleep became worse when she started having the dreams; they were always the same; Saphira found herself walking across what looked like a deserted planet, there was lots of wind and white stuff falling that may or may not be snow. The first dream started with just her walking around this place, someone was walking next to her, but she didn't know who, then each night that she was able to fall asleep the dream got longer until she started seeing a figure upon a hill, it's back was always towards her and wearing a long robe or maybe a cloak she couldn't tell, the dreams were not too bad at first, just annoying until they started skipping parts, Saphira would be walking up to the hill towards the figure, there will be a skip, and next thing Saphira knows she's tossing Loki off a cliff to his death below.
The first time Saphira had dreamed of throwing Loki off the cliff, she had avoided him all that next day; she couldn't even bring herself to look at him because she would picture the look Loki had on his face in the dream, it showed no fear as he fell to his death. Only shock, hurt, and betrayal all mixed in one; Saphira couldn't bear to see it. Thinking he had done something to upset her, Loki finally comforted Saphira and made her tell him what was wrong; he was surprised about what she had dreamed but told her not to worry about it; she couldn't control her dreams, and he knew she would never do anything like that. Loki always knew the right things to say to get her to feel better, so when the dream turned Loki into Enid, Saphira called Enid right away, who believes the Soul Stone is reaching out to her and trying to tell Saphira where it was.
Saphira now spent most of her time trying to figure out that half dot on the map. She had this feeling it meant something; she asked Loki if he remembered where he got the old map; Loki found it in one of the books Frigga brought to him while he was in the dungeons, he thought it looked important, so he kept it; Saphira has tried to get Mystique to take them there since the map showed how to get there, but Mystique refused to fly to a planet with no name and not knowing what they were heading to, her like Kurt and everyone else except Loki believes it's not anything important and didn't understand why she was focusing so much time and energy on half a dot on an old map that dates back to the 500s BC.
One day when they landed on a planet to gather a few supplies and get air, and off the spaceship for a bit, Rogue and Remy had made Saphira stick with them while Loki, Kurt, and Mystique went off on their own, the reason for this came clear two days later when Remy pulled her away from tending her plants and dragged her into the game room where everyone was waiting for her, a surprise for her birthday, on Asgard they didn't celebrate birthdays too often due to their slow aging, it had to be a certain age, so, Saphira appreciated the thought. They all had fun playing games and celebrating, no more so than Loki and Remy, who got drunk and acted like idiots; there was no Yeti hunting this time, though, Saphira got a nice picture of them passed out snuggled together on the couch, something that caused them to go out of their way to avoid each other for the next three days.
At the beginning of July, Loki decided it was time to start getting things ready for when the baby arrived; it was only three months away now, and at the moment, Saphira was sitting in the middle of her and Loki's bed, eating popcorn as she watched Loki and Remy, trying to put together a crib, last week, Loki had packed up some of his things and sent them to his pocket dimension. He and Kurt then took out half of the cabinets on his side to make room for a crib; he wasn't the only one who gave up clothes space, though; Saphira also packed up a lot of her things to have room for baby clothes and items; finally unboxing the stuff her and Enid bought when they went shopping.
"Why don't you read the instructions, mon ami?" Remy asked. Loki looked up from the pieces he was trying to figure out.
"Gods do not need instructions," Loki replied, then went back to looking at the pieces.
Saphira giggled at them, took a picture with her phone, texted it to Enid, then explained Loki was refusing to read the instructions; a few minutes later, Enid texted back with an emoji rolling its eyes.
"How about this, mon ami? Remy isn't a God, though my good looks would pass me off for one." Loki rolled his eyes at that. "So, let ole Remy read the instructions, no?" Remy suggested. Loki frowned at Remy a few minutes before passing them to him.
"Let's hope you can read," Loki told him; now, Remy rolled his eyes, then looked at the directions.
"Oh no, there are no pictures." Remy joked; Loki threw a screw at him, which bounced off his forehead; Remy glared at him, then went back to looking at instructions. Loki smirked and took in how the picture of the crib on the box looked, then used magic to have the crib put itself together; when Remy finally looked up, he frowned, then rolled his eyes. "That's cheating, no?"
Loki laughed, "I just got tired of waiting on you to figure out how to read." He waved his hands towards the crib, "Magic makes things quicker and easier, my friend; I can teach you if you like?"
"Oh no," Remy answered, holding up his hands. "Remy wants no part of your voodoo."
"Voodoo?" Loki replied, sounding insulted. "I do not perform Voodoo, thank you very much."
"Remy is from New Orleans, babe; they can be superstitious there, especially about magic," Saphira explained.
"Well, next time we are on Midgard, I will have to pay New Orleans a visit," Loki replied, standing. Remy stood too, and together, he and Loki pushed the crib against the wall. Saphira set aside her popcorn, then walked over and unpicked the bedding for the crib and began making it.
"Remy would prefer if you did not go play tricks on his hometown," Remy replied. Loki grinned
"Do you honestly think I would do such a thing?" Loki demanded.
"Yes," Remy replied, and Saphira giggled as she fixed the crib liner in place; Loki turned around to help her. He kept bickering with Remy. Not serious, though; it was just how their newfound friendship worked, teased, and argued with each other.
Three nights later, Saphira had that dream again, and this time she saw the figure standing on top of the cliff; she had made it up to him, and he turned around, then Saphira saw his face, and woke up with a start.
"Darling," Loki asked, moving closer to her, "Are you alright? Was it that dream again."
"Yeah," Saphira replied, rolling over on her back so that she could look at him, "I saw his face this time; it was a skull and red, scary looking."
"Sweetheart, it was just a dream," Loki replied, leaning in and kissing her forehead. Then laid his hand on her stomach. "Your dream woke him up too."
"Yeah, I can feel the ice needles sticking into me." Saphira replied, "But Loki, I don't think it was just a dream; it felt so real and oddly that figure he seemed familiar like I'd seen him before."
"You think you've met the red face guy?" Loki asked; Saphira shook her head.
"No, no, I don't think I've ever met him, but I think I've seen his picture somewhere before," Saphira replied.
Saphira would get her to answer about the figure in her dreams a week later; she was sitting in the entertainment room watching a movie with Remy, Loki, and Kurt that took place during World War 2, she wasn't paying attention to it but instead looking through a book, and writing down facts in her notebook, hoping to find some clues to what that dot was or any indication to where the Soul Stone could be, she could faintly feel it, but had no idea where it was. Saphira turned a page when it dawned on her.
Saphira tossed her stuff aside and jumped up easily for a woman six and half months pregnant and was able to make it to the library quickly; she went right to the history section; yeah, the makeshift library wasn't that big, but Loki still liked to keep the books organized and in order; Saphira found a book on wars pulled it out and flipped through it until she got to World War 2, and there was a picture of him, Johann Shmidt or better known as Red Skull, that's why he looked familiar, Saphira would have seen him on the news back then.
"Saphira?" Loki's voice brought Saphira out of her thoughts, "Are you alright? Why did you go running out of the room?"
"Your movie made me think of something," Saphira answered; she looked from the book to Loki and saw Kurt and Remy was with him. She held up the book showing them.
"Is that the guy from your dreams?" Loki asked, taking the book; Saphira nodded.
"Red Skull," Kurt said, "He fought with Steve Rogers in World War 2."
"Ah, so, that's how our movie made you think of this," Loki replied, "But I do not understand; why would an old enemy of Captain America be anywhere near the Soul Stone?"
"That book barely says anything about him, and I don't remember the news back then saying much more than his name and Captain America defeating him." Saphira frowned. "I wonder how old SHIELD is. Were they around back then or some early form of them."
"I have no idea," Loki said, "But I remember someone mentioned the tesseract had been in SHEILD's possession for over seventy years when I was being taken from Stark Tower after our failed tempt to rule Midgard."
"How did the tesseract even end up on Midgard, to begin with?" Saphira demanded. "Was it ever said who took it from Odin's vault all those years ago?"
"I do not think he ever found out, no," Loki replied, sitting down the book. "I have my suspicions, though."
"Who do you think took it?" Saphira asked.
"You think it was Mother, don't you?" Kurt asked.
"Yes, she had the perfect opportunity that time she was living on Asgard acting as my nanny," Loki replied, "It would have disappeared around that time, plus with her shapeshifting ability, would explain why no one saw anyone other than guards or Odin, enter the vault, she must have lost it after coming to Midgard, or perhaps someone stole it from her, and at some point SHIELD ended up with it."
"Nice theory." Remy replied, "But what does any of that have to do with Red Skull and World War 2, and the connection to the Soul Stone?"
"Well, the tesseract has the Space Stone in it," Saphira answered, "There has to be a reason they didn't release much about Red Skull to the public."
"You think he was fighting Rogers for the tesseract?" Loki asked.
"He met even had gotten his hand on it at one point," Saphira replied, "Maybe tried to use it for something; the Phoenix told me those who misuse the infinity stones usually get punished for it; we didn't because you weren't entirely behind what you were doing, and it skipped punishing me because the Phoenix needed me for something, plus I never actually wielded either stone. But what if skull man did?"
"So you believe during the war, Red Skull somehow got hold of the tesseract and used it, and as punishment, he was sent to guard the Soul Stone?" Loki demanded. "Love, the first part makes sense; I can see that, but the punishment? I can not see punishing someone for using an infinity stone by making them guard another one."
"The Pheonix doesn't always make sense; she did choose me as their Guardian after all. She put the Realty Stone in me when I was planning an alien invasion." Saphira pointed out. "With two stones."
"She has a point, mon ami," Remy replied.
"Even if your guess is correct, how would we prove it? Loki demanded, "And how would knowing this help us find the Soul Stone?" Saphira pulled out her cell phone.
"I don't know about that last one, but I do know how to find out if I'm right," Saphira replied; she dialed Thor's number, took him a few rings before he answered, sounding as if he had just run to the phone.
"Saphira, I was busy; what do you want?" Thor demanded; on top of out of breath, he sounded annoyed. Before she could answer him, she heard Enid ask him something; Enid was also breathless and sounded very close to Thor, and Saphira suddenly felt sick when it dawned on her what she had just interrupted.
"Oh nasty," Saphira shouted into the phone. "You two were...ugh gross."
"Saphira, Enid, and I are deeply in love," Thor told her. "Your sister just agreed to..."
"I don't want details, dummy," Saphira said, making a face; she could hear Remy laughing at her, and Loki was making a disgusted look. "Look, give me Steve Roger's number; then I can pretend this call never happened."
"What do you need Roger's number for?" Thor demanded; Saphira rolled her eyes.
"To mail him a letter," Saphira replied sarcastically. "To call him, why else would I need it? If you know it, just let me have it, then you can go back to being gross with my sister."
Thor gave in and told Saphira Roger's number; she had Loki conjure a piece of paper and pen so she could write it down, then hung up without even saying bye.
"Don't tell me you are going to call Rogers and ask him?" Loki demanded; Saphira shrugged.
"Only way I can think of to see if my theory is correct," Saphira replied, dialing the number.
"I doubt he'll tell you, darling," Loki warned, just as Rogers answered his phone.
"Stevie," Saphira said into the phone with fake cheerfulness. "How are you, never mind, look, I need to know back in the war when you fought Red Skull, did he ever get his hands on the tesseract?"
"Who is this?" Rogers demanded, "Why do you want to know about that?"
"I'm hurt, Stevie; I was almost your Queen, and you don't even recognize my voice," Saphira replied, "And you stood in the rain for two hours once to get my autograph."
"Bucky made me, and I never said anything about it raining," Rogers replied, realizing who it was. She heard a male voice in the background ask him what did he make him do? Saphira guessed it was this Bucky.
"Cap Cap, attention on me, please," Saphira said, "You can talk to your friend later. "
"Why do you want to know about Red Skull?" Rogers demanded. "What are you and Loki up to now?"
"That hurts, Stevie," Saphira said. "And here I thought we were friends."
"Saphira, I'm hanging up the phone now; please don't call back," Rogers said.
"Look, Rogers, if Loki and I were up to something, we could quickly go to Asgard and get the tesseract; we know right where it is, and how would learning about what Red Skull did years ago help us do anything? Come on; you owe us; we saved you and the rest of your little heroes from Ultron, remember?"
"I don't consider you an enemy anymore, but you are not a friend either," Rogers said.
"Aww, aren't you sweet?" Saphira replied. "Steve, please, this is important or might be, if I admit Loki and I are looking for another Infinity Stone, and this information could help us find it. Will that help ease your worry?"
"No, it makes me less willing to tell you," Rogers replied.
"Look, I may be looking for them for my own selfish reasons, but think about it, us getting the stones stops that mad Thanos Thor told you about from getting them," Saphira said, "Who would you rather have them, Loki and I or Thanos?"
"Can I choose neither?" Rogers asked; Saphira rolled her eyes.
"If this is about what happened in New York that was two years ago," Saphira said, "You can't still hold that against me, can you?"
"Yes," Rogers replied, "As I said, I may no longer see you and Loki as an enemy, but that doesn't mean I fully trust you or that I want to sit on the phone with you telling you my life story as if we are life long friends."
"I don't want to know your life story; I want one little question answered," Saphira said.
Before Rogers could answer, his friend, Bucky said something, and Saphira heard them arguing back and forth; she only heard bits and pieces of what they were saying, and she couldn't help but smile, Bucky was still a fan of hers, and because of it was trying to get Steve to tell her what she asked, she heard him say something along the lines of "I know what you said she did, but that's still Astrid Star, tell her what she wants to know." Steve groaned then spoke into the phone.
"I guess I do owe you for your help with Ultron, plus Enid has helped Bucky a lot lately," Steve answered.
"Helped with what?" Saphira asked. "Enid hasn't mentioned helping anyone with anything."
"Bucky has been through a lot, " Rogers replied. "Your sister has been using her abilities to help him; why am I even telling you this? It's none of your business." Rogers replied. "Red Skull already had the tesseract when I fought him; he had stolen it from somewhere else; yes, he tried to use it, but he failed, and it killed him, I think."
"You think?" Saphira asked.
"He tried to use it; there was a big light, he disappeared and never seen again," Steve replied. "If he didn't die then, he's most likely dead now; that was over seventy years ago."
"You're still alive." Saphira pointed out, "So, is your little Buck Buck."
"Don't call him that," Rogers said, "Sounds like chicken noises, anyway, did I answer your question? Can I hang up on you now?"
"Don't pretend you don't like me, Stevie," Saphira teased, "You know you do, and yes, you answered my question, and I guess since you asked so nicely. Oh, and tell Bucky I said hi."
Saphira hung up the phone, smiling a little, so the guy in her dream was Red Skull; the Phoenix must have punished him for trying to use the Space Stone for bad, now he has to guard the Soul Stone, Loki was right, it made no sense to punish someone who had already used a stone for bad to protect another one unless he could only watch it, and not touch it.
"I was right." Saphira bragged, turning to the others, "Rogers confirmed it; Red Skull tried to use the tesseract, he didn't say what he tried to do, but there was light, Red disappeared, Rogers thinks Red Skull is dead, but we know he's guarding my Soul Stone; we know where he is, on the half-dot, we have how to get there, now we have to talk Mystique into taking us there."
"So, we have to fight an old enemy of Captain America to get your stone?" Remy asked.
"Possibly," Saphira said, "I might be able to get him to give it to me since I'm the Guardian of the infinity stones."
"I hope you don't have to kill anyone," Kurt said, "I think you two have killed enough lately."
Saphira looked at Loki; he had been quiet and had that thinking look back on his face, Saphira didn't know what her husband was thinking, but she doubted when Loki spoke up, she was going to like it. And when he looked up at her, and his eyes went to her stomach, she knew she wasn't going to like what he had to say.
"I know you're their guardian and everything, but, darling, when we go there, I think you should stay on the ship," Loki told her, "Let me and one or two of the others go get the stone."
Yep, Saphira didn't like what he had to say at all.
A.N I hope this chapter made sense and wasn't too boring, but I figured they needed to get back to searching for the stone I can move on with the story. I also tried to show how close they all gotten since being stuck in Mojo's movies.
