"I got you flowers," Jack reached the bouquet towards Kate. She accepted the flowers and immediately put them down the garbage disposal, her eyes locked on his. "Still mad. Got it."

"Hey Goober, come eat your breakfast," Kate called to Aaron, her tone cheerful as she served the little boy scrambled eggs.

"Are there any eggs left?"

"In the fridge," Kate said coldly before sitting down with a glass of juice.

"C'mon," Jack tried. "Let me make it up to you…" he grabbed her waist and kissed her until she gave in, reciprocating his kiss.

"Daddy will you take me to baseball?"

"Sure. Just have Mom drop you off at the office and we'll leave from there. How's that sound, Mom?"

Kate couldn't stay mad; she smiled at the interaction. She loved her family and she loved Jack, even when he made her mad. In moments like this she couldn't fathom him ever cheating on her. He was happy. He was living the life he was meant to live, a nice house, a beautiful family, his own practice. He'd gotten those things when he'd met Kate. When he fell in love with Kate.

Later that day, Kate brought Aaron into the office. The little boy ran from the elevator into the office, eager to tell his dad about his day.

"Hey little man!" Robin called when he raced in. "I have something for you…"

"A trick or a treat?" The boy smiled at his words as he was preparing for trick or treat in a few weeks.

"You tell me…" Robin pulled out an expensive Power Wheel.

"Robin, this is too much…" Kate began.

"It's the same model as my car. Isn't that cool?"

Kate's mouth turned into a straight line. The toy was too much, especially to come from someone who was practically a stranger. "We really can't accept this…"

"I'll take it, Mommy!"

"Looks like it's already been accepted," Robin winked at Kate, making Kate's blood boil.

"I think it's time we talk woman to woman. Not here," Kate said, her tone low. She glanced towards Jack's office, hoping Jack and Aaron didn't hear her.

"I'm about to head out, walk me to my car?" Robin said, her tone a fake version of chipper. Kate didn't trust walking into a parking garage with Robin but she felt she had no choice. Besides, Kate knew she could handle her own.

"Look," Kate said once they were in the parking garage, "I'm very protective of my family and something just isn't sitting right with me…"

"What? Are you afraid I'm going to take your man? You're little boy? Could you imagine the pain, losing your family, your future…"

"I'm not losing them," Kate said sharply. "Don't—"

"Wouldn't that be terrible, losing everything you love?"

"I don't understand…"

"Do I have to spell it out for you, Katycat?" Kate gasped at the nickname. Only one man had ever called her that. And only when he was drunk and handsy.

"Wayne," she whispered. "You knew him?"

"I loved him. He was going to divorce her, you know? It was gonna be the two of us. He was going to get a CDL and become a truck driver and we'd travel the country together. Until you."

"He was a bad man," Kate said softly. "He was dangerous."

"You're dangerous." Robin thought for a moment, "you know the best part? I'm not interested in Jack or Aaron. I just don't want you to have them."

"Please, Robin. Don't hurt them. I'll do anything."

"Then get in the car, Kate." Kate's heart sank. She knew Jack thought she was being hormonal and even if she wanted to tell him, she refused to let him get involved. She did the only thing she knew to do: she got in the car.
