Chapter 54 Return To Asgard

A lot of people thought Thor was an idiot. Yeah, he realized that sometimes he might say or do something, act in a way that makes people believe that, but in reality, Thor was far from it; the God of Thunder was intelligent in his own way; Thor may not be bookish like Loki and Enid was, or even like Kurt Wagner, but he was still bright. He could act when he wanted to, just like Loki can act like an idiot sometimes even though Loki was far from being an actual idiot; so, when Enid agreed to follow up with the plans they had years ago and tie the knot, as the Midgardains say, Thor wanted Loki there, and Enid wanted Saphira there, Thor knew that this was probably going to turn out to be a bad idea, especially since he had to threaten to have his wedding on Midgard if Loki and Saphira weren't allowed to come here and attend; behind Enid's back, Odin had already reached out to Alfheim and invited Astra, her mother, and brothers, so, now Enid had to worry about keeping her sister from killing their mother on the day of their wedding, which is the day Odin invited them to come.

Thor and Odin had gotten into an argument over that; Odin had said this was his Kingdome he would invite whoever he wanted to whatever he wanted; Thor mentioned wanting Saphira and Loki there, Odin said no at first, so they fought again, Thor threatened to marry on Midgard as Saphira and Loki did, Odin gave in. Enid told him, Saphira said they couldn't come unless their whole family could because they didn't trust Odin and the Darkhomles as Saphira called them, wouldn't allow them to go without them, Thor knew them, liked most of them, so he told Enid to tell them all they were welcome and did not ask but told Odin that Loki's biological mother, half-brother, adopted sister, and her husband were all coming when Odin protested, Thor, replied, this was his wedding he would invite whoever, whenever he wanted, Odin had not been amused but gave no farther protest. Thor himself warned everyone and even announced that anyone tried to harm their guest in any way, they would be answering to Thor.

Thor was sure his father had not liked that announcement either because it was Thor taken the matter into his own hands again, and sure, maybe the guards and a few others had a reason to hate Loki, to feel they had a right for revenge, Thor could admit to himself they probably did. Still, by the rainbow bridge of Asgard, he was going to have his baby brother at his wedding, and he'll be damned if anyone causes trouble this week, if they want to seek vengeance, they can do it on their time, off-world, though Thor doubted they would succeed in fulfilling their goal. Loki was not the joke Asgardians tried to make him out to be.

"Thor, honey, would you please stop the pacing." Enid suddenly asked, "And tossing Mjolnir; it's getting a bit nerve-racking."

Thor turned to Enid; she sat at one of the tables as she waited for the arrival of Loki and the others; Enid looked gorgeous in a light grey dress, made of satin, Enid had let her hair grow out for the wedding, it now laid down her back, the way the light was hitting it looked as if it had a touch of silver in it, and the grey dress was making her ice blue eyes stand out, she was the picture of beauty, the most beautiful being in the galaxy. He couldn't wait to see how beautiful she looked at their wedding.

"Forgive me for racking your nerves, my beloved," Thor said, walking towards her; his apology made Enid laugh a little as he sat next to her; he sat Mjolnir on the floor by his feet, "I was thinking how you were the most beautiful being in the galaxy."

"Oh, Thor, I am not," Enid replied; he grinned as she blushed.

"You are; I once told Loki this very thing, and do you know what he said?" Thor asked.

"Let me guess it was something about Saphira being more beautiful?" Enid asked; Thor shook his head.

"Surprising no, " Thor replied, then switched his voice into what was a pretty good impression of Loki's and said. "How could you possibly know that Thor, you've never seen every being in the galaxy." Enid laughed as her phone alerted her to a massage.

"He was right, you know," Enid replied, picking up her phone, "Speaking of the devils, it's Saphira said they are approaching the bridge now; she sent me a picture of Loki and Fenrir, and for goodness shakes, look."

Enid held up the phone, showing Thor a picture of Loki and Fenrir; his brother was seated in the co-pilot seat, had it turned around, facing whom Thor guessed was Saphira, Fenrir was in his lap, and he was dressed just like Loki, right down to a little horned helmet on his head. Thor laughed.

"That should not surprise me." Thor grinned, "Fenrir has gotten big, though, and he looks so much like Loki, especially like that dressed just like him."

"Yeah, but I can see a little bit of Saphira; he has her nose looks like." Enid said, "And those curls definitely came from her.

"Our nephew is adorable," Thor commented. They, along with Frigga, were the only ones in the grand hall at the moment; once Loki and the others arrive, more people will be allowed in so that they can start the celebration; Thor was pretty sure most of the Asgardians didn't think Loki and Saphira's return was the cause for celebration but would be coming for various reasons anyway; there would be a few that show because they want to be nosey and gossip, then they'll be the ones who will want to cause trouble. The kind speaks loudly about everyone; then they'll be the few party types who show up only because it's a party; most will show because they show for everything Odin invites anyone for because they fill honor bond to do so. Thor's close friends, The Warriors Three and Lady Sif, will show as a favor to Thor, help keep any trouble down; sadly, Thor, Enid, and Frigga will most likely be the only ones here pleased to welcome Loki and Saphira home if only for a week.

They had the grand hall decorated with banners made of fine silk; dozens of tables lined one side with a matching table cloth, candles, and flower vases going down the center as decorations. Fancy dishes sat on the tables, and food was sat out, along with drinks. The other side of the room was where people could dance and mingle; once everyone gets here, music will start playing; it would be one of several parties this week, the biggest will be the one after their wedding. Enid and Thor sat at one of the guest tables at the moment. Still, once Saphira and Loki show, they'll be sitting at the big table, where the King, his family, and special guest sat, which will include Saphira, Loki, their group, and Thor's friends.

Finally, the guards at the doors opened them, and Thor and Enid got to their feet as Loki walked in, Saphira by his side carrying Fenrir; behind them were Remy and Kurt, followed by Rogue and Mystique, Thor's face split in a grin, and he rushed forward.

"Brother!" Thor shouted, opening his arms; Loki held his up to stop him, but of course, it did no good; Thor wrapped his arms around his little brother and gave him a tight hug, squeezing him.

"I do not understand you, Thor." Loki said as he pulled away, "After everything I've done to you, and you are still so happy to see me."

"That's all in the past, Loki," Thor said, laying his hands on Loki's shoulder. "I forgave you long ago." And before Loki could even respond to that, he turned to Saphira, who had just gotten done greeting Enid and Frigga, the latter of which took Fenrir from her. As she turned to greet him, Thor got her in the same tight hug he had gotten Loki in, but he lifted Saphira off the ground, making her squeal in surprise.

"Put me down, dummy." Saphira cried; Thor sat her back down laughing, "Asshole, you wrinkled my dress; you did that just to annoy me."

"Yep," Thor admitted, smiling.

"You're such a big dummy," Saphira told him, but she put her arm around him and gave him a one-arm hug before pulling away. Thor turned his attention to Fenrir, smiling, as he noticed he was using the Mjolnir teething ring he gave him.

"Nephew," Thor said, bending down to greet him; Fenrir took his attention off his little hammer and looked up at Thor; then held his arms out to Thor, who grinned and took him from Frigga, but only able to hold him a moment then Enid snatched him away.

After everyone greeted everyone, they all headed towards the large table upon a platform, where the royal family always sat, Odin once he got here would be seated at the oversized throne-like chair at the end; it never mattered where the others sat as long as it was at the end by Odin, and Thor somehow found himself sitting in between Enid. Mystique, across from Mystique sat Remy, then Loki, across from him, and Saphira across from Enid, she was holding Fenrir, Frigga was next to Enid, at the end the table, Kurt across from her, Rogue on the other side of Remy.

Not long after, they all sat, the guest started filling in, Lady Sif and the warriors three sat at their table, Lady Sif next to Mystique, Volstagg across from her, Hogun next to him, and Fandral next to Lady Sif, they mumbled a greeting to Loki and Saphira. They awkwardly greeted them back, then ignored each other until Volstagg spotted Mystique. Thor introduced her and explained she was Loki's birth mother.

"Can I ask a dumb question?" Volstagg asked.

"Better than anyone I know," Saphira replied, making Loki and the others laugh; Volstagg ignored them, his attention on Mystique.

"Are you a Frost Giant?" Volstagg asked; Mystique looked at him with a look that would suggest she thought he was the stupidest person she'd ever met.

"Are you an idiot?" Mystique demanded.

"Yes," Loki replied, "Yes, he is."

Before anyone could say anything else, the hall began to fill up with people. Once everyone had found a seat, Odin came walking in, a line of guards on either side of him, head held up, Gungnir in hand, all in gold, with a red cap, Thor knew his father was trying to look intimidating, show an aura of power, but Remy LeBeau at least didn't feel intimidated; the moment he looked up and saw Odin he lost, it, first snorting and trying to cover his mouth to hide it, Loki looked at him with an amused expression, then Remy started laughing.

"Stop it," Loki demanded though he was trying not to laugh, as if he knew what Remy found so funny; he got himself under control long enough to lean in and whispered to Loki.

"Where's his reindeer?"

Even Rogue started laughing at that; Thor had no idea what any of them found so funny, but apparently, Enid had guessed with the reindeer comment because Thor noticed her biting her lip to stop from laughing, as Odin made it to the end of the table.

"Loki, and...family, " Odin began, narrowing his eyes at the laughing trio but said nothing. "I would like to welcome you here to Asgard tonight. You are our special guest; enjoy the food, and drink. " He sat back down with a look on his that suggested he would rather be anywhere but here at this moment, in time.

Music started playing, and everyone started eating and making small talk in the quiet hall soon became loud; Thor ate as he paid attention to Enid and Saphira's conversation about Fenrir.

"He grabbed my hair with both his little hands and wouldn't let go," Saphira said, "He loves to pull hair, so be careful when you hold him; he can pull out handfuls now."

"I'll have to remember to keep my hair pulled back then," Enid replied.

"Fenny can be a bit cranky too; at times, he's teething, so he's in pain a lot," Saphira explains. "That's why he keeps his baby Mjolnir with him. That's also the reason for all the drool." Saphira wiped Fenrir's mouth with a small towel she had brought with her.

"Has he changed shape anymore?" Frigga asked.

"He has four more times since the last time," Loki answered, "It's always into a wolf, though; he seems to love wolves."

"Do not worry; I'm sure once he's old enough to learn to control it, he'll take many different forms," Frigga replied.

"He gets into everything also; he's not even one, and my little guy is already a handful," Saphira said, "Mystique said Loki was at that age, always getting into everything."

"He was." surprisingly, Odin answered; he opened his mouth to say something else but was interrupted when Fenrir grabbed hold of Saphira's plate and knocked it to the floor, spilling her food everywhere.

"Fenny, that's not nice," Saphira said; a servant immediately rushed forward and began to clean it up; Fenrir then reached for Kurt's plate, but Saphira stopped him. "No, Fen, leave Uncle Kurt's plate alone."

"Maybe we should allow one of the servants to watch him as we eat," Odin suggested as Fenrir started to get cranky.

"No," both Loki and Saphira said, glaring at Odin.

"My son does not leave my sight unless it is with my wife or one of my family members." Loki finished.

"He's only acting this way because his gums are starting to hurt him," Saphira said, still glaring at Odin as if she thought he was being insensitive.

"I could take him and walk around with him." Kurt offered, "Maybe that will calm him down a bit."

"I can join you, Kurt," Frigga replied, "We'll walk him down to the healers and see if they know of anything that'll help his gums."

"Thank you, Mother, Kurt." Loki nodded his head in agreement, and he and Saphira both kissed Fenrir on the forehead, then she handed him to Kurt, and he and Frigga left the hall with him. And everyone got back to eating and chatting. That's when Thor remembered something he wanted to ask Loki.

"Brother, " Thor said, "The Warriors Three and I were talking a couple of days ago, and we decided that having a camping trip, maybe a little hunting before the wedding, would be lovely, just us guys, before I am a married man, we want you to come along."

"You know I have never been one for those kinds of things, Thor," Loki replied, "Saphira..."

"It's only three days' bother; I'm sure Saphira can get along without you; for three days, you can even bring a book." Thor replied, "I want you there, a bit of bonding, with our friends. Gambit and Kurt are welcome to come if you want."

"I'm sorry, Thor, but I can not leave Saphira and Fenrir alone for three days," Loki replied. Thor frowned. Did Loki honestly think someone might harm his wife and child while away? Then it dawned on him; he most likely did; Thor had noticed the weapons on all of them.

"They won't be alone." Mystique replied, "Rogue and I will be with them; no one will harm either of them, and Gambit and Kurt will go will go with you; you will not go by yourself."

"He wouldn't be by himself; Thor will be with her," Enid spoke up. "And I'll be here with Saphira."

"I can protect myself." Saphira replied, "And my son, if you want to go Loki, it'll be fine, us girls along with Fenrir, can have like a sleepover, we can gossip, and play with Fenrir, destroy Thor's chambers, it'll be a blast."

"They will be no destroying of my chambers," Thor replied, then turned back to Loki, "Come on, Loki, it'll be like old times."

"Saphira and I can give Enid marriage advice," Rogue put in, "Mom has been married, but I don't think Thor would want Enid to get advice from her."

Thor didn't get the joke, but Loki and Rogue snickered while Mystique glared at them. "I do not get what is so funny."

"Mystique killed her husband," Saphira replied, "When he became suspicious that she cheated on him, she told me the whole story one day while in prison together."

"You were in prison?" Sif asked, "Was it because you killed your husband?"

"No, I killed a senator and used my shapeshifting to take his place." Mystique replied. Sif and The Warriors Three sat and stared at her a moment. Next to Sif, Fandral leaned in and whispered.

"Yep, she's Loki's mother, all right." causing Sif to snort into her drink.

"How about we change the topic," Enid spoke up, "Murder is hardly an appropriate dinner conversation."

"Thank you, Enid," Odin spoke up, cutting the lamb meat he was eating, "I would appreciate a change in topic."

"So, umm, Mystique was it?" Volstagg asked, "You said you were a shapeshifter, so you are who Loki gets it from?"

Mystique didn't say anything, instead answered by changing shape; she turned into the form that looked a lot like Loki, which made Odin choke on his food; Saphira moved over in Kurt's seat and started hitting Odin on the back as if she was helping, but Thor had a feeling she was using it as an excuse to be able to hit Odin.

"You alright there, Oldie," Saphira asked; Odin took a drink of his wine before nodding. Embarrassed. Saphira moved back to her seat next to Loki, who gave her an amused look

"What do you say, Loki?" Thor demanded. "Come camping with us."

"Fine, I'll go on your stupid camping trip, but I won't be happy during it," Loki replied.

"As long as you are there," Thor replied; Loki rolled his eyes.

"Stop being so sentimental, brother; it's disgusting," Loki told him.

"Whatever you say, Loki," Thor replied, turning his attention back to his food; the rest of the meal was just small talk; after a while, a few started dancing, which made Saphira drag Loki off to dance, saying something about feeling restless just sitting there, Thor and Enid too, decided to dance. Finally, Kurt and Frigga should back up with a sleepy Fenrir; Saphira took him, saying she and Loki would be heading to bed now, Enid and Thor went too so that they could show the rest of them the rooms they had made up for them near Loki's old chambers.

Before leaving the room, Frigga gave Loki a little bottle of teething potion, which, when rubbed on Fenrir's gums, would take away most of the pain and is safe for a baby his age; she also told them the healers wouldn't let them leave unless they gave Fenrir a check-up; Kurt assured Saphira and Loki, he was in the room the whole time and that Fenrir was in perfect health and a little big for his age, showing Loki and Saphira was taking good care of their son; Thor couldn't blame Loki and Saphira for looking a little offended at the suggestion that anyone would think otherwise about them.

An hour after retiring to his chambers, Thor stood outside on the balcony, looking out over Asgard; he felt happy, in a few days, he and Enid will finally be married, Loki was here for it, Thor got to see his nephew again, and tomorrow he, Loki and his old friends would be going camping, everything was going great.

"Thor, honey." Enid's voice drifted outside from inside his chambers, "Are you coming to bed." Smiling, Thor turned and went back in.

The sun hadn't even risen yet when Thor got up, took a quick shower, gave Enid a kiss bye, then headed down the corridor. First, he went to the great hall and dropped his gear off, then went to Loki's chambers; no light or sound was coming from inside, showing Saphira and Loki was not up yet, so Thor raised his fist without thinking, knocked loudly on Loki's door.

"Brother!" Thor shouted, "Come on, Loki, you promised to go hunting with me!"

Thor ponded on the door again; then he heard Fenrir crying inside Loki's chambers, someone cursed, a light was turned on (he could see it shining from the crack at the bottom of the door), then a minute later the door was thrown open, and Loki was standing there.

"Give me two good reasons why I shouldn't beat the daylights out of you," Loki said; behind him, Thor could see Saphira walking around the room with Fenrir trying to calm him down.

"I am sorry, brother, I did not think," Thor said, "It did not dawn on me; Fenrir would be sleeping in your chambers."

"And where do you think he would be sleeping, Thor?" Loki demanded, "In the corridor?"

"The palace has a nursery, Loki," Thor replied.

"And you heard me say last night, Fenrir was not to leave my sight unless it's with one of my family members," Loki replied.

"Guys, please, Fenrir has stopped crying," Saphira announced. "Don't get him started again." Loki looked back at Saphira, who was still walking a little bit, but Fenrir had stopped crying and looked on the verge of falling back to sleep with his head on his mother's shoulder.

"Go on and get breakfast; I'll take a shower and get my gear ready, chase Remy and Kurt up, and we'll meet you down there," Loki said, then turned and headed towards the bathroom; Saphira walked up to the door.

"Saphira, I am sorry," Thor replied at the sound of his voice. Fenrir raised his head and looked at him. "Fenrir, Uncle Thor is sorry for waking you."

"You are lucky; it wasn't one of those times Fenrir kept us up all night," Saphira said, "Well, lack of sleep has never bothered Loki, but I need rest, so, you are lucky, Fen slept well last night, or else my sister would be marrying a pile of ash at the end of the week."

With that, Saphira closed the door in his face, signing; Thor turned and headed to the great hall, where he had left his gear before waking Loki, Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg were already up and eating when Thor reentered the room to his surprise Kurt was already up and seemed to be having a decent conversation with Thor's three friends.

"My friends, good morning," Thor said, sitting down and pilling food onto a plate, "Kurt." Thor nodded to him.

"Morning, Thor, " Kurt replied.

"I believe I made a grave mistake," Thor said, "I will not go into details, but Loki may be in a bad mood for the start of our trip." The Warriors Three groaned; if anything they thought worse than having Loki coming along with them was having a grumpy Loki coming along with them.

"Don't worry, guys; I will keep Loki from getting too mean," Kurt replied, sounding a bit amused, as he took a drink of tea.

"I would be careful if I were you, Kurt," Fandral told him. "You seem like a nice guy, but trusting Loki, a big mistake."

"He'll turn on you when it benefits him." Hogun agreed, "So, be careful."

"I appreciate your concern, but I don't think I have anything to fear from Loki; my brother would never do anything to harm me," Kurt replied, "We may not have known each other long, but we have grown close traveling together. "

As to prove his point, Kurt waved his hand across the table and, to Thor's surprise, an illusion just like Loki's appeared above the food; it showed Kurt and Loki in a spaceship Thor did not recognize, a Kree stood in front of Loki and Kurt, the Kree was shooting purple light at them.

"This is a part of our battle on Xander; Ronan had the power stone, and we were trying to get it from him and save the planet," Kurt explained; Thor watched as Loki pushed Kurt to the ground and covered him with his body. "See, Loki has an annoying habit of being a bit overprotective of me, so, yeah, I have nothing to fear from him."

Thor couldn't help but feel a bit of jealousy; Loki took a likening to Kurt right away, and their relationship has only grown closer, a relationship Kurt was so sure of that he would likely be willing to walk with his back to Loki while he held a dagger in his hand with no fear of being stabbed; Thor wished he had that type of closeness and trust with Loki, though Thor doubted his brother was planning to cause any trouble this week, and they have grown a little closer lately, Loki even willing to talk to Thor on the phone or text him messages, they were slowly becoming brothers again, but a family relationship. However, Thor is happy for, is about it, Thor doubted he'd get the friendship with Loki that had developed between him and Kurt Wagner, nor will Thor ever be completely comfortable with turning his back to Loki whether he was holding a dagger or not. That was something Thor found sad, that he would never be able to trust his brother entirely.

As if his thought made him appear, Loki and Remy came walking into the room and flopped down in chairs next to Kurt; Remy immediately put his head in his arms on the table and ignored everyone around him. Loki looked at Kurt's illusion with his eyebrows raised; then smirked and waved his hand through it; it changed a bit; Ronan was replaced by Thor, with Kurt and Loki beating him up.

"Real, funny, Loki," Thor replied; he waved his hand through the illusion, making it fade away.

"I have some good news for you, Thor; Fenrir was back asleep before I left," Loki replied, "You no longer need fear, my wife."

"You woke the baby?" Volstagg asked, then winced, "I've been there; I remember when my fourth was born, I came home one night a little too loud, my wife had just gotten him to sleep, and well, it was late, and our other children were in bed, the crying baby woke everyone up, and it took hours to get everyone back in bed, I slept on the floor the next two nights."

"Be thankful, Thor, it was not your baby; you woke this morning. " Fandral snickered, "Couldn't imagine having to sleep on the floor during your honeymoon."

"I'm sure Saphira is also thankful that Fenrir is not Thor's son," Loki replied; next to him, Remy snorted. Thor rolled his eyes; that's not what his friends meant, and Loki knew that, so Thor didn't even bother to correct him.

There was a little bit more talk between everyone, then they all decided to head out, standing and grabbing their gear; there was a pause in where Loki tried to get Remy up, which resulted in him pushing Loki away from him a few times before Loki got annoyed and grabbed Remy's ear making him stand and get his things, Remy followed behind everyone mumbling to himself and yawning, Thor felt a little bad for him.

When they made it outside, it was starting to get light out and was cloudy; with a chill in the air, Thor led them to the stables to saddle up the horses and find ones for Kurt and Remy to ride. Loki led the two towards the back where his horses were; Loki owned two; Midnight; a black horse, and Dawn, a golden brown horse; Loki himself chose to ride Saphira's horse, a beautiful horse that came from Alfheim, she was a light grey-silver color, with a silvery mane and tail, the tiny braids in her hair was decorated with gemstones. The horse's name was Diamond.

After the family left Asgard, Thor and Loki went down to their house to rescue the animals and livestock they left behind, finding them new owners; they would have starved if they hadn't; Loki and Thor took possession of both Saphira and Enid's horses, and Loki had kept Diamond in the stables next to Midnight, fed her, bath and took her out riding at times, treating the horse the same as he did his own because he knew how much Saphira loved her. With Thor and Loki not on Asgard anymore, it was up to the stable hands to ensure the horses were taken care of and given exercise, so Loki's and Saphira's probably wasn't taken out much.

They all got the horses saddled and ready, then led them outside, Thor climbed on his horse, and as they were all heading out of the palace grounds, it began to rain, not much at first, then it was like the sky opened up as it began to pour down hard.

"Looks like this camping trip is off to a good start, no?" Remy said.

AN I Know the last few chapters have been kind of dull, but I'm trying to get through these parts to get back to the conflicts and actions. I'm going to be looking into Norse Myths to find some kind of creature or monster for them to come across for either the next chapter or one after so we can have some excitement.
