AN: I looked up and read about some monsters in Norse Mythology and found two I put in this chapter, but only one they fight; hopefully, it's good.

Chapter 55: Meet The Draugar
Remy LeBeau was not in a good mood; he was tired and grumpy, didn't get much sleep last night; he and Rogue both found it hard to fall asleep in such a strange place; they've never slept in a palace like the one on Asgard before, Rogue kept complaining about having this weird feeling she couldn't explain, and wishing they could stay on the spaceship, she's never felt anything like that before, which had worried Remy, and when bringing up not coming on this camping trip, Rogue assured him she'd be fine, and that he should go, hang out with the guys, she was looking forward to hanging out with Saphira and Enid, she wrote it off as her being paranoid; It felt like they'd just falling asleep when Loki came charging into their room and pulling him out of bed; good thing he decided to wear boxers to sleep in, or else Loki would have seen more than what he would have wanted; it was hot and stuffy in their room last night another reason it was hard to sleep, and Remy nearly slept in the nude, something he's done when too hot before, but decided against it being in a strange place.
So, Remy had been dragged out of bed before the sun rose and put on a horse; he has ridden one of few times, but it's not his favorite pass time, not like Rogue, his country girl loves horses, Remy had no problem with them; he just didn't want to be on one. Remy was already in a bad mood, though that was starting to fade now, it wasn't before when they set off, and it began to rain; Remy was for once thankful Loki could be a bossy asshole sometimes because he snapped at Thor and got him to turn the rain off, something Remy didn't even know Thor could do. Now Remy was starting to feel a little hungry since he had been too sleepy and cranky to eat breakfast.
"How much farther do you think we are going?" Kurt asked, "We've been riding for hours."
"Remy has no clue, no," Remy replied; he had no idea what time it was on Asgard or how they even kept time here, but the sun was high, and it was getting hot, so it had to be nearing late afternoon. "Since I didn't have breakfast, I'm starting to get a little hungry."
"Here," Kurt said, then reached behind him and pulled out of a side pocket in his bag a granola bar and tossed it to Remy, who caught it surprised, "I snuck a couple of boxes of those off the ship with me, brought a box along just in case."
"These are Mystique's, no?" Remy asked, opening it and taking a bite.
"Yes, but she has so many I doubt she'll notice two boxes missing," Kurt replied, "And if she does, I'll tell her Loki ate them; she won't say a thing."
"You noticed that too, eh?" Remy asked, taking another bite. "How Mystique favors him."
"I have," Kurt replied, pulling a granola bar out for himself.
"And...it doesn't bother you, no?" Remy asked.
"I'll admit, it does hurt a little to know she truly wanted to keep him but tossed me over a waterfall," Kurt replied, "But that's the past, doesn't do anyone any good to dwell on it. Besides, Loki grew up being overshadowed by a guy like Thor; he deserves to be the one favored for a change."
"You don't think you deserve a parent's affection?" Remy demanded, "After the life you had?"
"I have made peace with my past," Kurt replied, "I have moved on; Loki has not, and he will not be able to until he can find it in himself to forgive Odin for his lies and neglect."
"So, you've forgiven Mystique?" Remy asked.
"I have," Kurt replied. Remy shook his head as he took his last bite, then stuck the wrapper in his pocket.
"You're far too kind, sometimes, Nightcrawler," Remy replied. "Remy would have never been able to."
"I did it for myself, not for Mystique." Kurt replied, "I needed to find peace. Hopefully, Loki will someday do the same, and speaking of Loki, better not let him hear you calling me Nightcrawler; you know how he dislikes the name."
"That's because your big brother thinks it's a crack about how you look," Remy replied, "He gets offended on your behalf by something you don't find offensive, no."
"Like I told Thor's friends, Loki can be annoying overprotective of me sometimes," Kurt replied; he smiled a little, and Remy snorted.
"You love it, admit it," Remy demanded. Kurt laughed a little.
"I've never been a vengeful, violent person, but I have to admit, it does feel good to have such a powerful older brother that would snap anyone in half who dares to mess with me," Kurt replied, "I don't need Mother favoring me when I'm Loki's favorite sibling."
"No, you're not violent at all." Remy laughed; "Poor innocent Kurt Wagner, finally showing your dark side, Loki is rubbing off on you, mon ami."
"I think he's rubbing off on all of us," Kurt replied; he reached down and patted his boot. Remy figured that's where he was keeping the dagger Loki gave him. Remy had his in the inside pocket of his trench coat; the daggers were proof of what Kurt said; they all accepted them, knowing they would most likely use them on anyone who tried to hurt a member of their little family; all of them were starting to balance between good and bad; Kurt was the one that was the most shocking, as everyone else had a past where they've hurt someone.
Remy laughed and opened his mouth to say something else, but then the horse he was on, Dawn, if he remembered her name right, paused, then started moving backward.
"Wow, girl, what's... Remy tried to ask, but the horse cried out, then suddenly stood on its hind legs, throwing Remy off. Unfortunately, he fell off on the side, then tumbled down the hill; he heard both Kurt and Loki call out to him but could not answer as he slammed down on the bottom of the hill, finally coming to a stop. No more than two seconds passed than Kurt suddenly popped next to him.
"Are you all right?" Kurt demanded, getting down next to him and helping him sit up before he could answer. Loki suddenly appeared and got on his other side.
"You alright?" Loki demanded, "Anything broke, I can heal it."
"Only thing broken is ole Remy's pride," Remy answered, "Doubt even your magic can fix that."
"Good, now I will not have to worry about my sister wanting to punch my face," Loki replied; Remy laughed, "Something must have frightened Dawn, causing her to throw you, possibly a snake, though I did not see anything."
"Did she run off?" Remy asked as Loki and Kurt helped him to stand.
"She tried; I was able to stop her and calm her before coming down here," Loki replied, knocking the dirt off Remy. "You are filthy."
"Remy would like to see you roll down the hill and not get filthy, mon ami," Remy replied.
"You sure you're okay?" Kurt asked, "Think you can make it up the hill?"
"Make it up the hill?" Loki demanded, "We can teleport back up there; one of us take him."
"The hill isn't that steep," Kurt replied.
While Loki and Kurt talked, Remy felt the ground under his feet start to give way; he looked down a little concerned and took a step back, which was a mistake as the ground behind him was worse, and Remy suddenly fell through; he felt like he was falling forever when Remy suddenly slammed down on what felt like a stone floor and groaned, he laid there a moment before sitting up, pain shot up his back. He groaned again and held his back as he stood. Remy was starting to think that staying in the palace with the ladies would have been a much better option, not that he ever had a problem hanging out with ladies; women were Remy's favorite type of people, though now that he was a married man, all Remy could do was a little flirting, that was fine by him; the only woman he ever truly wanted to be with for the rest of his life was Rogue.
"Gambit, if you can hear me, give us a shout," Kurt called down to him.
"I hear you, mon ami," Remy called back up, pulling out his zippo and lighting it so he could see; it didn't give much light, but what he could see, it looked like he was in some old cave of some kind. Remy hoped he wouldn't be down here long; as soon as either Loki or Kurt got their ass in gear and teleported down here for him, he would be back up top; he wished they would hurry; this place had an ominous feel to it.
Remy looked around when he noticed something shiny over by the wall, on what looked to be a table sticking out from it; he walked over and, to his surprise, saw jewelry lying there; Remy picked up a necklace, a thick gold chain, that had a large ruby right in the middle of it, without even thinking dropped it down in his pocket; at that moment, something grabbed his shoulder and made him jump; Remy spun around and about had a heart attack when he came face to face with Loki.
"Did I scare you, so, sorry?" Loki grinned, indicating that he was not sorry at all.
"Bastard," Remy mumbled; Loki only laughed as he looked around; he held up his hand, green magic coming from it, making more light, a greenish glow reflecting on his face.
"Come on, let's get out of here," Loki said. He sounded a little creeped out; Remy didn't know why but didn't get the chance to ask, as Loki grabbed his arm and teleported them back up by the horses; Kurt was already standing waiting, so was Thor.
"Gambit, good to see you in one piece," Thor replied, patting Remy on the back.
"Ouch," Remy replied, turning his back away from Thor and glaring at him; that had hurt; his back was sore and most likely bruised.
"Keep your hands to yourself, Thor," Loki demanded as Remy slipped off his trench coat and laid it across Dawn before trying to knock as much dirt and dust off the legs of his jeans as he could.
"I know I keep repeating this, but are you alright?" Kurt asked; Remy nodded.
"Yeah, my back is a bit sore, but that's it; I didn't break anything," Remy replied; he felt Loki raise his shirt, then he swore, Kurt looked then whistled.
"Your back is covered in bruises already and red," Kurt told him.
"You got all those from rolling down the hill?" Thor asked.
"He also slammed down on the ground below then crashed through an old crypt; it was probably the stone floor that did it," Loki replied as he laid his cool hand on Remy's back, and the pain slowly started fading away; he realized Loki was healing him.
"Did you say crypt?" Kurt asked; Loki nodded.
"Yeah, that was an old crypt Remy fell through." Loki replied, "Most likely ones of Asgardians that were hated by most in life, criminals or horrible people, those are the ones usually buried far away from homes and places people go."
"And for a good reason," Thor said as Loki removed his hand from Remy's back and dropped his shirt.
"Thanks, mon ami," Remy replied; Loki nodded.
"What's the good reason?" Kurt asked.
"Believe me; you do not want to know," Loki replied.
Remy climbed up on Dawn, and everyone headed back to their horses. They rode on in silence, falling back into the line they were first riding in, Hogun in front, followed by Volstagg and Fandral. Loki and Thor, then Kurt and Remy at the end, and Remy noticed Loki pull out his phone and go back to what he guessed was texting Saphira; that was something he had done the whole ride. Remy didn't blame him; he would be texting Rogue if she still had a phone, and if he had brought his along, he forgot it back in their room, having been rushed by his not so lovely brother-in-law.
"Not long before we get there, Loki," Thor said, "I am sure you've realized where we are heading."
"I do," Loki replied, glancing up from his phone. "And I do not know why you wanted to go this far out."
"Come on, brother, it was once our favorite campsite when we were younger before you decided camping wasn't your thing," Thor said; Remy listened to their conversation; curiously, he never thought about whether or not Thor and Loki had ever been close, from the way it sounds with the stories Thor started telling, they were at least somewhat friends at one time, Remy figured all that ended when Loki began to grow jealous of Thor.
"Thor, you remember that story all wrong," Loki was saying, "It was I, and my magic, that saved us from the trolls."
"It was Mjolnir and me," Thor argued, "My thunder is greater than any magic."
"Please, thunder is just a loud noise, nothing special," Loki replied, "Magic can do anything."
"Yes, but my thunder is always followed by lighting," Thor replied, "Lightning can strike down anyone or anything."
"Wow...wow." Kurt suddenly cried out, putting a stop to Thor and Loki's conversation; Remy looked next to him to see Kurt had stopped his horse and climbed down.
"Kurt, something wrong?" Remy asked as Kurt walked to the edge of the woods and was looking.
"I thought I saw someone, a woman," Kurt replied; he went to take a step towards the woods, but Loki quickly teleported off the horse, and behind Kurt, Remy watched, confused as he covered up Kurt's eyes with his hand.
"I doubt that was a woman you saw, brother," Loki told him, "Most likely a Huldra."
"A what?" Kurt demanded.
"A creature that lives in the woods looks like a person but has a tail that looks like a cow and back covered in tree bark," Loki replied. "They can cast illusions around themselves to look more normal, the female lure unmarried men into their woods and keep them enslaved, or kill them, almost impossible to get free once they have a hold of you." With his hand still over Kurt's eyes, Loki turned him around and walked him back to his horse. "I remember one time when we were younger, one tried to lure me into the woods; Saphira did not like that."
"What did she do?" Kurt asked as Loki finally removed his hand from his eyes, then helped Kurt climb back on Midnight, the horse Kurt had been riding, like Remy's, it too belonged to Loki.
"She lost her temper once she saw it hanging around trying to get my attention and accidentally nearly burned down half the woods." Loki said, "Saphira had not yet gotten full control over her abilities, and she cried for days over the destroyed plant life, but no Huldra ever tried to lure me away again."
"Saphira always did have a fiery temper," Remy replied, then snickered at his joke. Kurt and Loki looked at each other and rolled their eyes. Then Loki went back to Diamond, the horse he was riding, and climbed on.
They all rode on ahead in silence, and it took two more hours before they reached a clearing deep into the woods and Thor cried out they were there, and Remy couldn't be happier; he wanted off the horse; his legs and butt were feeling pretty sore, his back was hurting a little again, and since Loki healed where he feel into the crypt Remy knew it was from the riding, he didn't consider himself old, but he wasn't exactly a spring chicken as Rogue would say.
"We have a lot of fine memories here, do we not, brother?" Thor called over to Loki as they all got their gear off the horses and started setting things up. Kurt, Remy, and Loki were to share a big tent, while Thor and his friends shared another tent; he and Kurt were helping Loki unpack the things needed to put up their tent when Thor had walked over to them.
"You might," Loki replied, pulling their tent out of a bag, "I have memories of sleeping on the hard ground and watching you four act like fools."
"Aww, Loki, I thought you would be happy to see the place," Thor replied, "Our favorite camping spot when we were young."
"Plus, bilgesnipe have been spotted nearby," Fandral added, walking up and patting Thor's shoulder.
"That too." Thor agreed, smiling at Loki, who did nothing but glare at him in return, causing Thor to frown. "You're mad at me."
"No, I am not," Loki replied, "I'm just busy at the moment." He waved his hand, and green magic swirled around the tent and all the pieces, and the tent put itself up, and Remy grabbed his things and tossed them inside; when he came back out, Thor was still there arguing with Loki on whether or not Loki was mad.
"I was trying to let us all have some fun; you do not need to be grumpy," Thor said.
"I am not mad at you, Thor, " Loki snapped, "I am not grumpy either, I just..." He didn't finish; instead looked back at his phone.
"Is something wrong?" Kurt asked him quietly; Loki lifted his eyes from the phone and looked at him.
"I texted Saphira over thirty minutes ago, and she hasn't replied," Loki answered.
"I'm sure she's okay, " Kurt replied, "She got busy taking care of Fenrir or helping her sister; if something had happened, Enid would have called you; Mother would have too."
"Your brother is right, brother." Thor put in; he sounded a little happier now that he knew Loki's grumpy mood wasn't because he was mad at him; Remy felt sorry for him; Thor genuinely seemed to be trying to bond with Loki, who didn't seem interested in being friends with Thor. Loki went to say something when his phone started ringing; he looked at it, and his eyebrows narrowed before he smiled a bit.
"Remy, do you know you are calling me?" Loki asked.
"What?" Remy asked as Loki answered his phone.
"Let me guess; you lost your phone?" Loki asked, pausing to get a reply from the other end; whatever the answer was, it made Loki laugh."Fenrir did what to your phone?" He turned to them, "It's Saphira; she had to borrow your phone from Rogue; I'll explain in a bit."
Loki turned and went into the tent to have privacy; Remy, Kurt, and Thor turned to head over to where The Warriors Three were; Kurt and Remy sat next to each other on a large log; four of them sat at a fire pit Volstagg was starting a fire in under a big kettle, he was cooking stew. Across from them sat Hogun and Fandral; on the log next to theirs, Thor sat.
"So, umm, Remy, is it?" Fandral asked, "Tell us about yourself?"
"Call me Gambit," Remy replied, "And not much to tell; I'm more worried about what other monsters lurk these woods you didn't tell us about."
"Yeah, what's a bilgesnipe?" Kurt asked.
"Big giant bull-like creature, with big horns sticking out of his head," Thor replied.
"There is not much else." Volstagg put in, "Not in these woods anyway, you already been told about the Huldra, trolls don't usually come to this part of the woods, and besides a few harmless creatures similar to those in Midgard woods, that's about it, that we have to worry about anyway."
Remy was about to ask what he meant by that, but Loki chose that time to flop down on the log next to Thor with a big grin on his face.
"Do you know what my son did?" Loki demanded.
"Considering he's your son, stabbed someone in the back is my guess," Fandral replied; Loki glared at him.
"Fandral." Thor frowned at his friends, Loki held his hand out as if planning to send a blast of magic at him, but Thor grabbed his wrist. "Loki"
Loki jerked his arm away from Thor, glared at Fandral one more time, then turned back to Kurt and Remy; his grin returned.
"My little trickster froze his Mum's phone," Loki replied, "That's why she was unable to text me back; Fenrir is going to be the most powerful child in the galaxy. He's already shape-shifting, and now his jotuun abilities are already developing."
"Wonder if he'll get any of Saphira's abilities," Kurt asked, "I bet she would love having him help her tend her plants and flowers."
"That she would." Loki nodded, "Because of the enchantments Enid put on our phones; hers should still work once the ice melts; until then, Rogue is letting her use yours, Remy. Is that okay?"
"That's fine, not like I can use it at the moment," Remy replied, "Though I hope if one of the X-MEN calls me, she won't answer so she can annoy them."
"You know she probably will," Kurt said.
"On the other hand, a conversation between her and Wolverine would be entertaining, no?" Remy asked.
Kurt laughed; "with the temper Wolverine has, Saphira would anger him so much, he would end up breaking whatever phone he was talking on."
"Hey, Kurt, you have your phone on you?" Remy asked.
"Yes, " Kurt answered, "And before you ask, no, I am not texting Wolverine and having him call your phone."
Remy just grinned as Volstagg announced dinner was ready; they all made small talk while they ate, then about an hour after, they all decided to turn in early, and Remy was happily surprised to see three twin size camp beds were now there, with their sleeping bags lying on top, one for each of them.
"I pulled them out of my pocket dimension," Loki explained, changing into pajamas, "I did not fancy sleeping on the hard ground, did not think you two did either."
"Thanks, mom ami," Remy said, taking off his boots, then jeans and lying down in his t-shirt and boxers. "And you were right; Remy's body is reminding him he isn't all that young anymore, no."
"Gambit doesn't do much horseback riding," Kurt explained as Loki gave him a confused look. Remy closed his eyes and toned out the two chatty brothers as he let himself drift off into sleep.
No one talked much when they got up the following morning; the sun was rising as they sat around their logs eating scrambled eggs and drinking coffee; afterward, everyone grabbed their gear and headed into the woods to search for bilgesnipe; if it weren't for the fact Loki said these creatures were real, Remy would wonder if the Asgardians were trying plan a joke on them, but doubted Loki would join in with Thor and the others on tricking them, so he believed the creatures were real.
It wasn't until after lunchtime when they finally spotted one, Loki didn't seem interested in helping the others catch it; he pulled a book out of his bag and leaned up against a tree, and started reading, ignoring the fact Thor and his friends were being tossed all over the woods; at one point, Thor was thrown against a tree, almost knocking it over; Remy and Kurt looked at each other with questioning looks, as Thor and his friends laughed and seemed to be having fun; they shrugged and sat down on either side of Loki, who made a book appear and handed it to Kurt, Remy pulled out his cards and started playing with them, as the three sat there, Hogun got tossed their way, Kurt and Remy ducked a little as he went flying by their heads, Loki just licked his finger then turned a page.
About twenty minutes later, Loki got tired of them all getting tossed around, closed his book, stood, and motioned for them to follow him back to camp; Kurt and Remy stood and followed him.
Remy, Kurt, and Loki were sitting around the fire eating granola bars as they joked around and laughed when Thor and The Warriors Three came walking back into camp; Thor answered that the Bilgesnipe had gotten away before following the others into their tent to put their stuff away, then joined them around the fire.
"You missed all the fun, brother," Thor said as he sat next to Loki.
"Yes, because getting tossed around like a ragdoll is lots of fun," Loki replied.
"What do you have there?" Volstagg asked Kurt sitting next to him.
"A granola bar, they are delicious," Thor answered; Loki picked up one of the two he had lying next to him and gave it to Thor, who looked surprised than happy as he opened it to eat it; Kurt gave Volstagg a couple, but Hogun and Fandral turned down the weird Midgardain treat. Not long after, they had dinner, then sat around the fire telling stories and drinking Asgardain Meade even Loki was laughing and having fun. They barely paid attention to the thunder that was off in the distance or the wind picking up or the lighting going across the sky; it felt good, and at the moment, it wasn't raining yet.
"I do believe neither of us was able to set for a week after that one." Thor laughed after telling the story about the time he and Loki had snuck into the village after Odin had forbidden them from leaving the palace, got in a fight with some older kids, and somehow ended up destroying a few of the village shops.
"I do not know why I allowed you to get me in trouble all the time," Loki said, shaking his head.
"I'm the trouble maker, brother?" Thor laughed as he stood and walked around behind Loki. "I believe that was only one of few times the mess we got ourselves in, was my fault, Mr. I'm The God of Mischief."
"Thor, shut up," Loki said, but he was smiling until Thor suddenly grabbed him in a headlock and ran his knocks across the top of Loki's head. "Let go of me, you fool."
Suddenly, the horses started making noises and getting restless, trying to get free from where they were tied up; Thor let go of Loki and stood up straight, frowning towards them.
"That is weird," Volstagg said, standing, "They do not usually behave that way."
"Not without reason," Thor said, walking towards them.
"Be careful, Thor." surprisingly, Loki said, frowning as he stood looking around; the wind picked up, and they all made a face at the sudden smell that filled the air. It smelled a lot like decaying flesh.
"What is that smell?" Fandral demanded, covering his nose.
"Shh, I hear something," Hogun said, pulling out his sword. Remy could hear something too, what sounded like growls, then a snap of a trig, and he pulled out his staff, making it big. Then Thor suddenly shouted, and Remy looked his way to see three zombie-looking creatures attacking him.
"Thor!" Loki shouted; he made his scepter appear and ran towards his brother, quicker than anyone could blink; Loki cut the heads off all three zombies and dragged Thor back over to where they were, just as it both started to rain and more of those things came out of the woods, lightning lit up the sky and thunder erupted.
Loki sat Thor on the log and held out his hands, making walls of ice shoot out of the ground, blocking them from the things on the other side; Remy could hear them pounding on the ice: the horses were still having a fit, and one let out a loud noise that sounded like it was in pain; Loki flicked his wrist and Remy could hear them running off, Loki must have used magic to untie them so they could run away.
"You've been bitten." Loki cried out; Remy turned back to them to see Loki looking over Thor's shoulder, then lay both hands, which were shaking over the wound, and began to heal him as the others stood around and watched.
"What are these things?" Kurt demanded, "Where did they come from."
"Draugar," Loki replied, "Must have gotten out of the crypt Remy fell in."
"That ice will not hold them off for long, brother," Thor said; Loki said nothing as he removed his hand and checked Thor's bite, then sighed when he saw Thor's wound was gone.
"I did not know if that would work," Loki mumbled; Remy was surprised to see Loki's eyes watering a little, and Thor reached up and patted his hand, smiling a little; Remy was sure some understanding passed between the two brothers.
"Will someone please explain what Draugar is?" Kurt demanded, "I'm guessing they are what...zombies? The Walking Dead?"
"Yes and no." Loki replied, "In a way, you can see them as a zombie, but unlike the movies and TV shows, they are not made from disease or being bitten by one, though they can cause illness; anyway, they are reanimated corpses of evil people, criminals, and the greedy, if you're a terrible person in life, you risk coming back as one."
"They are buried with their possessions far away from the living." Hogun put in.
"They are hard to kill and a lot stronger than what you see on television." Loki continues, "beheading or fire is the only way to kill them for good."
"Fire kills them, great," Remy said, "Where's Saphira when you need her?"
"I have no doubt my wife would have already had them all burnt to crisp," Loki replied, smirking as the growling got louder. "Unfortunately, she is not here."
"We need a plan; we can not stand here all night," Hogun said. "We have to fight."
"Not much time to plan," Volstagg said, pointing at one of the ice walls; a crack was already forming from the Draugar hitting it, and the warm rain melting the ice.
"We are not going to accomplish anything standing here," Thor said, "They are not going anywhere, so we are going to have to kill them. Pull out your weapons and get in form."
Remy wasn't surprised to see Thor taking charge, and no one argued, not even Loki, as they formed a circle back to back with one another, holding up their weapons.
"Everyone ready?" Thor asked; they all said they were, "Brother, can you do away with the ice."
Loki made a motion with his hand, magic hit the wall, and it disappeared, the Draugar immediately headed towards them; they all rushed forward, using whatever they had to cut off the head of the walking corpses; Remy was able to with his bo-staff, Thor used Mjolnir, Kurt was teleporting all around them, getting the Draugar from behind, with a dagger in each hand taking off their heads, Loki was tossing his scepter killing them from far away, and The Warriors Three were all using swords.
Remy ducked one coming at him, then got up behind it and knocked its head off with his bo-staff; he looked to his right in time to see Loki freeze four; then Thor tossed Mjolnir in a way it took off all four heads. Remy felt his arm grabbed and turned around in time to see rotting teeth heading towards him; he stuck a card in its mouth, charged it, then ducked out of the way, with a roll, as it blew up, that gave Remy an idea and staying low to the ground, he reached out and grabbed the leg of one stumbling by and like he thought his energy powers worked on it because it wasn't technically alive, Remy made sure to run out of the way before it blew up. He did that a few more times, also tossing cards into them anything to try and make sure their heads came off their bodies; he could probably try burning them with his zippo, catch them on fire, but the rain was coming down too hard to get it to stay lit.
"I think that's nearly all of them, " Thor was saying when Remy joined him, Kurt and Loki, who had been working together. "Just a few more."
"I'll freeze them; you lot take their heads off," Loki replied.
"Can you freeze that many at once?" Thor asked; Loki nodded.
"Of course, brother," Loki replied, "Get them all together and tell me when."
"Alright, Loki, do your freeze thing," Thor said, then raised his voice and shouted at the Draugar wandering around to get their attention; as Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg walked up, the undead all started heading their way.
Loki took a deep breath and stepped forward, and held out his hands; Remy watched as the Draugar all froze in place; the ground now covered in frost. Loki made his scepter appear again and tossed it and took off the heads of the nearest ones, it came right back to him, and he caught it; Remy stepped forward and knocked some of their heads of with his staff, Thor's friends help with their swords in no time they were all decapitated. Once they were all dead, they all stood looking at one another, catching their breath, then caught up in the moment, they began to laugh.
They never made it to bed that night; they sat around the fire, barely speaking, keeping an eye out; their tents had been tearing down in the attack, two horses, including Loki's female horse Dawn, laid dead a few feet away, the others hopefully had got away, the rain slowed then stopped as the storm moved out, and Loki had put a giant wall of ice around the tree lines to try and keep any more from wandering in when the sun had rose enough to give them light, Thor and The Warriors Three got up. Then started burning the undead bodies, plus the two horses, Kurt, Loki, and Remy, began digging around their destroyed camp, gathering any of their belongings that were still useable. Remy was shoving stuff in his bag when Loki got down next to him.
"I would suggest we teleport back, you Kurt, and I," Loki told him, "But I want to keep an eye out for Midnight and Diamond in case they didn't make it back to the palace."
"I'll help you keep an eye out, mon ami," Remy replied.
"Do you know what the usual cause is for Draugar to go after someone?" Loki asked Remy, shook his head. "Steal their treasure from them; makes them mad, they come after you for it."
"The jewelry in their tombs?" Remy asked, which meant it was his fault the walking dead attacked them.
"Yes, sometimes they attack at random," Loki replied; he put his hand on Remy's shoulder, "I'm not accusing you of anything, Remy, but did..." Loki didn't finish his sentence because he pulled the necklace out of his jacket pocket.
"I didn't know, mon ami." Remy replied, "It was lying there, and you know me."
"Remy LeBeau," Loki said in a tone that had Remy half expecting you're grounded to follow his name.
"I don't know why I took it, habit, I guess," Remy told him. "I didn't know it was a crypt at that time; Remy might be a thief, but he ain't no grave robber."
"We'll keep this between us," Loki said, reaching and taking the necklace. "I'll toss this in the fire with the Draugar; that should stop any more from coming after us."
"I'm sorry, mon ami." Remy apologized. Loki shook his head.
"You did not know," Loki replied; he squeezed Remy's shoulder and stood and looked towards Thor and his friends; Remy, for the first time in his life, felt terrible for stealing something. "Best not let Thor's dumb lot know."
"Why?" Remy asked curiously; Loki looked at him.
"They are mad about the Draugar; the fools might try fighting you." Loki replied, "I believe the death of his three best friends would put a damper on Thor's wedding, do you not?"
Loki patted Remy on the shoulder as he gave him a surprised look; then turned and walked off towards the burning dead while Remy watched him; he was sure Loki meant he would kill Thor's friends if they tried hurting Remy and couldn't help but smile, as weird as it might sound, knowing Loki was willing to kill to protect him, made him feel even more like he was truly a part of his family.
AN: The Draugar and Huldra I got from a website that listed 15 of the scariest monsters in Norse Mythology; anything I put about them I got from it except I added the part about burning the necklace; sorry if I got anything wrong just went by what I read.
Bilgesnipe is a creature Thor mentioned to Coulson in The Avengers not sure if it comes from anything or not, Thor said it has big horns, so I always picture them looking like a giant bull-like creature, so that's what I put.
