AN: There is a bit of violence in this chapter; I thought I'd warn you, this plot took on A life of its own, putting stuff I hadn't planned before starting it, but I liked, there won't be too much of CW left, so sorry if the thing with Enid seems to wrap up quickly, I want to get to IW and still have one more plot which won't be too long. Tbh not much of this story left.
Chapter 61: Enid 2
Enid was becoming paranoid, and it was driving her nuts; she hated that she felt the need to look over her shoulder at all times, hated having to spend money on a new door, and hated the need to add an extra deadbolt lock and chain to it; she also had better locks on the patio door installed, kept the curtains closed tight and used the ceiling lights to get light both days and night. Enid also changed her house phone number after the heavy breathing turned to threats and constant laughing. There was the feeling of still being watched or followed wherever she went, and Enid made sure to keep Loki's dagger on her at all times, moved it from her boot to the back pocket of her jeans, which was the only kind of trousers she wore now.
The day the unknown stalker left the dagger in the front door, after calming down first thing Enid did was call the police; they arrived took some photos of the knife and wallet before taking them out and bagging them for evidence. At the same time, a different cop took Enid's statement. Then left, giving Enid instructions to call them if the guy showed up again. The second thing she did was call Thor; she was going to tell him what happened but decided against it; he had just got to San Francisco, and Enid didn't want him rushing back to her before getting help with finding Vision, plus, she thought telling her husband an unknown person was harassing his wife, was something he needed to hear in person, not over the phone, he was already upset over her getting mugged, hadn't wanted to go. Thor will lose it when he hears about it; he'll probably even get madder to find out the man was the same as her mugger. The one thing she did tell Thor was their new phone number. If he found it weird, Enid suddenly felt the need to change it; he didn't mention it.
Enid couldn't understand why this guy was doing this. Was the reason because he found her extra keys and address while going through her wallet for money and decided to harass her suddenly, or was it he stole her purse as a means to start stalking her? Enid has never done anything to anyone, was always kind to people; why someone would do this, Enid didn't understand. It was all starting to get to her to the point everyone noticed; Saphira constantly asked her if she was okay because she was so quiet. Lately, Thor was the next to see something was wrong. Enid knew he was worrying over her, Magneto has even noticed, and Enid hadn't realized she had gotten jumpy until Tony Stark came up behind her during one of Magneto's press conferences; he put his hand on her shoulder before speaking, so Enid hadn't known it was him when she had jumped pulled the dagger out of her pocket turned around and nearly stabbed Stark right in the gut, he had somehow been able to stop her hand. She didn't feel too sorry, though, considering he scared her to ask her where Thor went, somehow finding out he left town; Enid had told him that it was none of his business, then walked off.
Enid spent most of the day out, sitting at the coffee shop down the street, with Magneto helping him, talking to Wanda Maximoff whenever at Magneto's house. If they got done with their work early, she stayed later to hang out with Wanda; Enid liked her; she was a good kid. Enid was also hanging out at the library lately; Enid felt watched but safer in public, which made no sense, and tried her best to be home before dark and locked up in her apartment. After eating dinner, she gathered her things and stuff to drink and snacks and locked herself up in her room for the night, and when at home, whatever room she went in and would be in there more than a few minutes, Enid locked the doors, she hated feeling this way and was glad Thor was now on his way home. Last she talked to him, he happily told her they were now in Nebraska, which would be halfway there.
"I bought you something," Thor told her during the same phone conversation.
"Aww, that's sweet," Enid replied, "What did you get me?"
"Nope, I am not telling you that." Thor replied, "It's a surprise."
Enid laughed, "Okay, I won't ask."
Enid heard someone come up to Thor take his phone, then Bucky's voice said into the phone. "Hello, Enid."
"Hey, Bucky," Enid replied. "Do me a favor; make sure Thor behaves."
"Will do." Bucky laughed, "I'll let you know if he doesn't. " She laughed when she heard Thor demanding his phone back.
"Do not listen to anything he says; it'll be all lies." Thor jokingly warned. "We're getting back on the road now, my turn to drive; I'll call you next stop we make," Thor replied.
"Okay, honey," Enid replied. "I love you."
"I love you too," Thor replied, then hung up the phone, and Enid returned to what she was doing before Thor had called.
Enid did ask Magneto about Pietro helping; he said he would run it by him, but it was up to him, and if Pietro agreed to help, Magneto didn't mind but did ask to please try not to let him get caught. Thor assured Enid they would do their best. Talking to Thor on the phone wasn't the only thing that kept Enid's mind off of everything. She spoke to Saphira on the telephone; she chatted about anything and everything and listening to her or Thor talking away helped Enid keep her mind off anything terrible.
"Fenrir has two teeth now." Saphira said, "He has also gotten into biting people."
"Is he still pulling hair?" Enid asked.
"Yep." Saphira replied, "Poor Loki, he was talking on the phone yesterday, and Fenny and I came up behind him. He didn't notice, too into his conversation with Thor, when that dummy became that interesting I have no idea,"
"Sister," Enid chastised.
"Sorry, but anyway, Fenny reached out and grabbed a big handful of Loki's hair, it pulled Loki's head back, and he cried out; it scared poor Fenny, he started crying. Loki felt terrible for upsetting Fenrir; it took him a few minutes to calm him down. Afterward, I had to massage Loki's head because the hair pulling gave him a headache." Saphira finished.
"You have to break him from that," Enid replied; she was at the coffee shop down the road from her, drinking coffee and eating a chocolate muffin while talking to Saphira on the phone; she kept glancing outside, concerned because the sun would start sitting soon.
"I will, but it's hard when he's too little to punish," Saphira replied, as Enid closed her laptop and put her bag on the table to pack up her stuff. "I'm not sure if he understands when we tell him that's bad. Loki and I have no intentions of spanking him, but he's too little to know what being grounded or time out is."
"Keep telling him it's bad, every time he does it and when he bites too." Enid replied, "He's bound to understand at some point, I don't know much about babies, but they are a lot smarter than some people believe."
"I know, and Fenny is the smartest," Saphira replied. As Enid put her laptop in her bag, fastened it then locked it before walking over and tossing her cup away, she walked back to the table to pick up her bag and put it on her shoulder.
"That I'll agree with you on, sister," Enid replied; she made sure the dagger was still in her pocket then walked towards the door. "Thor is always bragging about using Mjolnir to stand; he credits the hammer for helping Fenrir learn to walk."
"Oh, for crying out loud," Saphira said, laughing; Enid could picture her rolling her eyes. "Thor is so weird when it comes to that freaking hammer; you'd think he was in love with it."
"That's going a bit far," Enid said, walking out. "Thor isn't that bad. What about Loki and his daggers? How does he even have so many?"
"Magic, Sissy." Saphira replied, "Most of Loki's daggers are magical copies of his original one; he barely uses the real one, that's not to say the copies aren't real. They are just made magically from the original. I'm not sure how to explain it; you'd have to ask Loki."
"So, that's why I can feel his magic in this dagger," Enid said more to herself than to Saphira, putting her hand on the handle and stopping a moment.
"That would be why." Saphira replied, "Hang on, you have a Loki dagger?"
"The ones I took from him when we were fighting Ultron," Enid replied.
"Oh, I remember now," Saphira replied, "Loki told me later that you made him feel like a child scowled by their mother."
"I didn't mean for him to feel that way." Enid laughed. "But I wouldn't let him stab Thor or Barton; Loki is stab crazy sometimes."
"Stab crazy?" Saphira laughed, "I guess that is one way of putting it. While you're at it, you might as well call Thor hammer happy."
"Sister." Enid laughed, "Well, you have a point; our husbands have a weird fondness towards their weapons. " The sisters laughed. "Maybe we should stage an intervention."
"Oh, no, Loki just looked up at me; I think he knows I'm talking about him," Saphira said, then laughed when Loki said something that Enid didn't understand over the phone. Saphira squealed then started giggling; Enid heard Saphira telling Loki to stop tickling her, then he took her phone.
"Hello, Enid, "Loki's voice said over the phone. "I hear you're having a conversation about me; sweetheart, if you miss me that much..."
"Ha, don't flatter yourself, Loki." Enid interrupted as she looked behind her, thinking she heard footsteps. "I don't miss you."
"That hurts," Loki said sarcastically, "I should call Thor up now and warn him about our wives plotting against us."
"Please, if you did know of someone plotting against you two, warning Thor would be the last thing you did," Enid replied.
"I take offense to that," Loki replied, "Thor is my eldest brother. Do you honestly believe I would not warn him if he were in danger?"
"That depends on what mood you're in," Enid replied.
"That's accurate, actually," Loki admitted. Enid and Loki spoke a bit more; then, he handed the phone back to Saphira; they chatted until Enid made it to her apartment building. Smiling, Enid hung up the phone, put it in her pocket, and made her way up to her apartment, where she closed and locked the door before setting her stuff down and heading into the bathroom to take a quick shower before heading to the bedroom, to lock herself up in her room. After her shower. Enid went to her room and read some while the television played for noise in the background. When she did lay down to sleep, she slept restlessly. When she got up to leave the next day, Enid opened her front door to find a threatening note taped on it.
Most of the next day was spent with Magneto at his house, going over his speech for the following week. She had already written it and was running it by him after they went through a few other things.
"You know, Enid, If I win, I should hire you as my assistant," Magneto said, leaning back holding the speech she had printed out before leaving home. "You're good at writing these."
"You could probably write them yourself," Enid replied, "I remember you giving a pretty good speech that night in Stark's tower." Magneto laughed.
"That's true, but sometimes I say what comes to my mind, and knowing me I'd put my foot in my mouth going on about how bad humans are, you know the nonhuman mutants," Magneto replied, "Though, there are some things I said that night might fit nicely into this speech if we can rework it in here."
"We probably can," Enid replied; Magento sat the speech on the table, and Enid picked up a pen, went over it, and started marking places they could fit other stuff in, then gave the suggestions of stuff to add to that, and flipped the paper over and wrote it so that she can type up a new speech later.
"That's good; maybe you should be running for office instead of me." Magneto joked.
"I have no time to be any kind of politician," Enid replied, "And honestly don't want to be."
"Then I don't have to worry about you ever deciding to run against me, my dear," Magneto replied, pushing the paper to her; something went zooming by, and Pietro was suddenly sitting across from her at the table.
"Hey, Enid." Pietro grinned and put his feet on the table, only for Magneto to knock them off.
"Show some manners; keep your feet off the furniture," Magneto ordered.
"Alright, dad, chill," Pietro said, sitting up and leaning on the table. "Good evening Enid."
"Pietro, I hope you didn't come in here to harass Enid," Magneto told him, "We are busy."
"I only came here to ask for Thor's number," Pietro replied.
"Thor's number?" Enid asked.
"Yeah, dad told me about what he asked; I thought I'd call him to talk about it," Pietro explained. Enid wrote Thor's number down and handed it to Pietro, who left.
"I must apologize for him, I believe; he forgot any manners he was raised with," Magneto said.
"It's okay; my sister is the same way," Enid replied.
"Has that husband of yours gotten home yet?" Magneto asked.
"He will get home sometime tomorrow," Enid said, "When I spoke to him this morning, they were now in Illinois."
"I can't believe they decided to drive all that way," Magneto replied.
"I think it sounds fun," Enid replied, packing her things up." Saphira and I did that a few years ago; we drove all over the bottom half of the united states. We had a blast."
"You miss her, don't you?" Magneto demanded.
"Yeah, I miss having her around, " Enid replied, "Every since we were children, I've looked out for her, took care of her, I love being with Thor, and I'm glad she is finally happy, but sometimes I wish it could go back to the way it used to be, just her and me traveling the world, Saphira was always getting into some trouble, I was constantly having to get her out of."
"She sounds like fun to be around," Magneto replied.
"She could drive me so crazy sometimes, and chasing after her was annoying; I couldn't understand why she wouldn't act like an adult and behave." Enid smiled, thinking about it. "It wasn't fun then, but now I miss it at times; I miss her."
"Many things never seem fun when they are happening, but when looking back on them years later, we get to laugh," Magneto replied.
"Yeah," Enid agreed, "I do when telling Thor stories about Saphira getting into trouble. And what I would have to do to get her out of it."
"Hearts have minds of their own; they are wild creatures, always pinning after that of which we can not have," Magneto said.
Enid frowned at Erik Lehnsherr; she was sure that last part he was talking about himself, the subject changed, and Enid left his house not long after that; it was still early in the evening so, she decided to go to the library before going back to her apartment, she spent a few hours there, and by the time Enid headed home, it was late, and the sun was starting to set; Enid scowled herself for getting so caught up and lost track of time, to be quicker, she took the subway, where Enid was somehow lucky enough to get a seat when some guy recognized who she was and offered her his, seeing as she was holding an arm full of books, Enid, for the first time took advantage of her fame and accepted the seat and thanked him. The older woman next to her struck up a conversation that Enid found pleasant.
When Enid got off at her stop and headed towards the exit, she had her phone in her pocket, the dagger in the other, her bag on her shoulder, and her arms around the library books she had checked out; it was a little dark, but light enough, she wasn't worried, few people recognized her, some called out, some waved, there was a kid that pointed and called her the women that were always with Thor, which did make Enid laugh and wave at the kid when she got to the stairs to the exit, she had to wait for a moment to get on the stairs because of a long line. Enid was the last person in line and had just walked up three steps when someone grabbed her arm and tossed her back, making her drop the books; a few women nearby screamed as Enid landed hard on her back, slipping her bag off her shoulder and rolled onto her side.
"I told you, you couldn't keep me away from you." Someone growled; in a raspy, animalistic voice; as he got closer, Enid sat up to see the guy who had mugged her and stalked her for the last month, walking towards her in the same black clothes and a ski mask he had on in the store, Enid sat up more, reached behind her and gripped the handle of Loki's dagger. The people all around them yelled. Some ran; some pulled out phones, pointed at them, some got on their phones, Enid figured calling the police, she paid no attention to them, as the guy got closer, Enid didn't try to move or run, this bastard's harassment was going to end now, and Enid didn't care what she had to do to stop it.
The guy was right in front of her now and grabbed Enid by the arm and pulled her up; she acted then, Saphira would probably say Enid was channeling her inner Loki, but the moment he pulled her to her feet, Enid brought her other arm around and drove the dagger right into his gut; the guy gasped in surprise, let go of her, stumbled back a little, then came back with one hand and slashed across Enid's shoulder with big claws, Enid cried out, and took a step back, grabbing her arm, people screamed, and a lot that had stayed around to watch them took off running. The guy stood there staring at the dagger a moment before he pulled it out and turned back to Enid.
"Who are you?" Enid demanded, "Why are you doing this?"
Her question made the guy laugh, reach up and pull his ski mask off; Enid took a good look at him. He had what looked to be amber eyes that had vertical pupils; his hair was blonde and looked to be all over his body; he was around Thor's height and well over two hundred pounds of muscle; he raised his lips in a low growling like matter showing long pointy teeth; Enid knew who this guy was immediately, even if she had never met him before in her life, and going by the sounds of the few people still standing around them they did too.
"Does that answer your question?" He demanded, yes, it did answer Enid's question; the guy in front of her was almost more animal than man, an enemy of the X-MAN Wolverine. Enid looked at Victor Creed, the mutant more commonly known as Sabretooth.
"Why would you stalk me?" Enid demanded, "We've never met before in my life; I've never done anything to you."
"Money," Creed replied, "Money can make a man do anything if you offer him enough."
With that, Creed charged at her, and Enid tossed him back with her telekinesis ability, then used it to throw trash cans at him; he just smacked them away and came forward; Enid dodged to the side, and Creed went flying past, landing in a roll, and jumped back up to his feet, ran at her knocking Enid to the ground, he leaned into her face to say something and Enid raked her fingernails crossed his eye, then brought her legs up, and putting all her strength behind it, she kicked him off her, he landed a few feet away, and laughed, before getting back up.
"You think you have claws, eh?" Creed demanded, "I'll show you claws."
Creed charged at Enid with both hands; he was upon her before she could even move, slashing across her thigh with his claws and then her arm; Enid screamed out in pain as she tried to get away, then held her hand out to where the dagger laid, and it zoomed into her hand. When Creed came at her again, she turned around and drove it right into his shoulder; he growled and moved away to try and get it out, giving Enid time to stand up, and thrust her hand out and send Creed flying; he slammed hard in a pillar, putting a crack in it, before dropping to the floor, he got back up, shook his head then came running towards her, Enid held her hand out again and waved her arm. Creed went flying to the side, slamming into a subway train that was parked waiting for people to get on, which caused a lot of screaming and running, as the train was knocked sideways a little, with a Sabretooth size dent where he hit, he fell to the ground and didn't move.
Enid backed up to catch her breath and look at her wounds, at least the ones she could see; people were standing there staring in shock; Enid's body was in a lot of pain from being thrown and sliced up; she held one hand over her arm to heal it.
"Watch out!" Someone yelled, too late before Enid could even turn, she was being thrown across the tunnel and slammed down almost on the tracks; Enid made sure not to touch them, as she got up, a train was heading right towards her, causing people to cry out and scream, Enid held out her hand. She concentrated as hard as she could, and the train suddenly stopped, raising a little in the air in the back, throwing people forward. Enid then turned to Creed, who was about to charge toward her; she's had enough of this fight, only one way to stop him was to make sure he couldn't get back up.
Enid's eyes locked onto his chest, and she could sense his heart beating fast; as Creed started charging towards her, Enid stopped the blood flow to his heart; Creed paused, grabbing his chest eyes wide, he looked towards her.
"What...what..are you doing?" Creed demanded, "It...my." He cried out in pain and fell to his knees, still holding his chest as his heart started racing; his other hand came around holding onto his arm, as he began to breathe heavily, then, still holding his chest, he fell over to his side, moaning in pain, and demanded to know what she was doing, and begging, Enid to stop; it was too late for that, she couldn't stop it now even if Enid wanted to.
Enid looked away and laid down herself; she was bleeding all over, and in a lot of pain, the gashes on her body burned and stung, the people around just stood and stared, then there was a commotion, and about a dozen police came running into the tunnel; one got down next to Creed and felt his pulse then started demanding an ambulance in the radio thing attached to his shoulder, while the other police were trying to get people to stay back.
"Let's get you off these tracks, ma'am." The train driver had come over to help Enid up onto the platform, and another guy reached down and helped pull her up; they both were asking her if she was alright, as a cop came over asking questions.
Enid didn't answer, already lying on the ground; she just laid The rest of the way; she closed her eyes, ignoring everything around her; she felt weak and bleeding everywhere.
"Alright, you don't have to talk right now." One of them, she didn't know who said, while another started demanding an ambulance. Enid lay there ignoring everything until the EMTs arrived, then she didn't even raise her head, speak, or even open her eyes, when she was put on a stretcher and carried out of the subway and put in an ambulance. At the same time, people stood around taking pictures with their phones and talking; even a news cameraman was video typing them loading her in an ambulance; Enid still ignored it. At that moment, all she wanted was Thor and maybe to cry.
AN: Hopefully, the Hope it's good. I know the chapter title isn't good, but I couldn't think of anything else.
