Chapter 70, Time goes by too fast

August 6, 2016

Saphira couldn't help the tears that slipped down her face as she watched Fenrir sleeping peacefully; he looked so adorable in his wolf pajamas snuggling to his three-headed teddy bear, his curls laid all over the place; he had gotten so big and so brilliant in the last couple of years. Saphira loved him so much and will surely miss him; once she was gone, she hated the thought of him growing up without her; she hated leaving him and Loki alone. Hopefully, their family will be there and help them. Time went by too fast; she only had a month left. Saphira glanced over at the bed to see Loki was still asleep; he was on his back, one leg bent, and the other stretched out, with one arm lying above his head, and the other, out at his side, his hair was all over his pillow. Loki always laid the weirdest way in his sleep; Saphira thought it was adorable. Loki himself was adorable. She loved him more than anything, except Fenrir, but that was different.

Saphira looked back down at Fenrir; he will be three years in about five weeks; the day after that will be the worst day Saphira would ever have; her life clock was ticking. She didn't have much time left. She was going out knowing her son and husband was going to survive what was coming soon. Hopefully, her sister and the rest of her family does also, at least Saphira was able to give them some good memories last couple of years, traveling, seeing the Galaxy, having fun, and making sure to get all kinds of pictures and videos so that Fenrir could remember her, plus she wrote everyone she loved a letter, explaining why Saphira did what she did, and begging their forgiveness, and telling them how much they all meant to her. Saphira wiped her eyes and looked back to Loki; he was still sleeping peacefully, then Saphira glanced at the clock on the wall; it was still kind of early, still another hour or so before Fenrir would wake up wanting her and Loki to get up, so Saphira decided to get a bath before then, so, she headed into the bathroom and quietly closed the door, and went over to draw a bubble bath.

When the bath was ready, Saphira undressed and stepped into the bathtub, laid back, and tried to relax but was unable; she kept thinking about everything, her life, her past, where she was now, and what little future Saphira had left, she didn't want to go, didn't want to die, or miss her son growing up, leaves her family. Saphira will miss them all for different reasons; Enid had always been there for her, no matter what, the only blood family, besides Fenrir, she has left; Saphira hopes Thor can keep Enid from being too upset. Rogue and Remy, Saphira considered both her best friends now and knew they'd miss her but can move on without her since they lived most of their lives without her, they'll be fine, so Saphira hopes they'll be there for Loki, she knows Enid and Thor will look out for him, Mystique, and Frigga will also and so will Kurt. She'll miss Kurt, his kindness and gentleness, Mystique's big mouth, and toughness; she would even miss Thor; yeah, she loved teasing and picking on him, but he was a good guy, and he loved her sister.

Saphira sat up, brought her knees to her, and cried; Saphira felt more depressed the closer to the three-year mark, so she had to find time alone so no one would see her crying and ask questions because she could not tell anyone. After all, they would try to stop her, and Loki would be the one to die instead. After a moment, Saphira sat up, took a few deep breaths, calmed herself, then washed off with shaky hands, washed her hair, and got out, dried off, put on a bathrobe, and went back into the bedroom to see Fenrir awake and climbing out of his crib, Saphira rushed over to help him. When his feet touched the floor, he ran over to the bed and climbed on, then crawled over to Loki and started shaking him.

"Wake up, daddy," Fenrir demanded, shaking him again, "Wake up."

"What if daddy does not want to wake," Loki demanded; he suddenly grabbed Fenrir while sitting up, pulled him into his lap, and started tickling him; Fenrir laughed and squirmed, trying to get away.

"Daddy, stop, that tickles," Fenrir said, between laughs; he was able to crawl away, climb off the bed, then turn back to Loki and stick out his tongue. Saphira and Loki both laughed. Then Saphira walked over to the cabinet Fenrir's clothes were in, opened the door, and looked through his clothes.

"Bathtime, Fenny, " Saphira said, "let's pick you out something cute."

"I want the green one," Fenrir said, pointing at his green outfit that had dragons on it; Saphira grabbed it, then got in the draw and got out a pair of his underwear, sat them out, then headed into the bathroom with Fenrir following, and got everything ready for a bath; Saphira made sure to grab the bubble bath because Fenrir loves bubble baths; a few months back, they had a small size bathtub installed in the bathroom so that Fenrir could take his baths because he had outgrown his baby tub. Now Fenrir loved playing in his small-size bathtub.

"Alright, Fenny, take your clothes off and get in," Saphira told him; Fenrir did as she said, and Saphira got the washcloth wet and soapy and handed it to him. Fenrir was a smart kid; he knew how to bathe himself; Saphira mainly stayed in here to keep an eye on him, wash his hair, and in case he needed something. Besides, he was still too young to be left alone in a bathtub.

"You are an amazing mother," Loki said, making Saphira jump; she glared over at him when he started laughing.

"How long have you been standing there?" Saphira demanded as Loki walked on into the bathroom and towards them.

"Not too long," Loki told her, leaning down to kiss her; it ended when Fenrir splashed water on them; Loki turned to him as he laughed, and then splashed a little water back at him before turning and heading towards the shower when Fenrir turned to splash Saphira, who got Fenrir to stop by using her abilities to make the bubbles float around him. Saphira turned to Loki when she heard the shower turn on.

"You're going to take a shower now?" Saphira asked. "It's Fenny's bathtime."

"He is not using the shower, so I figured it's okay," Loki said, taking off his top. "You are more than welcome to watch if you wish."

"Why would I want to do that?" Saphira teased; Loki grinned and tossed his shirt at her; it landed on Saphira's head, "Hey." Saphira took the shirt off her head and threw it to the side as Loki slipped out of his bottoms and stepped in the shower.

"Daddy's naked." Fenrir said, "Yucky."

"Yeah, it's yucky, isn't it?" Saphira laughed.

"I can hear you," Loki called out, and Saphira laughed more as she picked up the cup next to her to pour some water over Fenrir's head to wash his hair; she hummed to herself as she put shampoo in his hair and rubbed it in; Fenrir laughed, and played with the bubbles. When Saphira picked up the cup to rinse his hair, Fenrir fought with her.

"No," Fenrir said. "Don't."

"Fen Fen, let mommy rinse your hair," Saphira said; Fenrir tried to move away, squealed, splashed water, then pinched Saphira's hand. "Ouch, Fenrir, that hurt."

Saphira looked at her hand with a frown; she had a red mark where Fenrir had pinched her, which as far as she knew was the first time he's ever done that; great, he no longer pulled hair or bites people, but now he was going to be in a pinching phase.

"What happened, darling," Loki asked; Saphira looked over at him to see Loki had stuck his head covered in shampoo out of the shower curtain to see what the commotion was.

"Fenrir pinched me," Saphira said, going back to rinse the shampoo out of Fenrir's hair as Loki watched.

"I'm sorry, mommy," Fenrir said.

"It's okay, Fenny; mommy's not mad," Saphira assured him.

Saphira picked him up out of the tub and stood him up in front of her, and started drying him off. Loki got back to his shower a few seconds later; the shower turned off, and Loki stepped out, tying a towel around his waist, and walked over to them.

"Where did he pinch you, love?" Loki asked, getting down next to her; Saphira held her hand out, and Loki frowned as he looked at it, then he covered her hand with his and healed it, then Loki raised her hand to his lips and kissed where Fenrir had pinched it.

"Thank you, baby." Saphira smiled at him; Loki was always so sweet to her.

"Daddy," Fenrir said, holding his small towel out to Saphira, smiling she took it.

"You want to act like daddy, eh?" Saphira asked; she tied the towel around Fenrir's waist, "Go with daddy, and he'll dress you while mommy cleans up the bathroom."

"Okay, mommy," Fenrir said; Loki took his hand, winked at Saphira, then led Fenrir out of the bathroom. Saphira cleaned the bathroom back up, put Fenrir's bath things away, cleaned his bathtub, and cleaned up the water all over the floor; when Saphira entered the bedroom, Fenrir and Loki were both dressed, hair magically dry, Loki was sitting on the edge of the bed while Fenrir stood behind him, brushing Loki's hair.

"You have a hairdresser now, do you?" Saphira teased as she walked over and opened her cabinet to find something to wear.

"Well, he is good at fixing my hair," Loki replied, smiling, as Saphira picked out a blue and pink dress that came above her knees, then grabbed underclothes and went back into the bathroom to dress when she reentered the bedroom a second time, Loki was still sitting at the edge of the bed, while Fenrir was now in the floor, playing with his toys.

"Will you zip my dress, handsome?" Saphira asked as she walked over to Loki and turned her back to him, Loki but instead, he raked the tip of his fingers lightly down her back, making Saphira shiver.

"I preferred you in just the bathrobe," Loki whispered in her ear; then again, he lightly ran the tips of his fingers down Saphira's back.

"Loki," Saphira said as he pulled down the top of her sleeve, exposing her shoulder, then started kissing it. "Do I have to remind you our son is in the room?"

"I can take him to Rogue, get my sister to watch him," Loki suggested.

"Tempting, but Fenrir needs breakfast," Saphira said.

"I'm sure Rogue will feed him," Loki replied, then grabbed her around the waist and kissed and nibbled on Saphira's neck.

"Behave, and I'll get one of the others to watch Fenrir tonight," Saphira told him; Loki grinned and gave her one last kiss before pulling away, then pulling her sleeve back up and zipped her dress. Saphira faced him and put her arms around him.

"I'll hold you to that," Loki replied, leaning in and giving Saphira such a passionate kiss she half wanted to take Loki up on having Rogue watch Fenrir for a while. But Loki soon pulled away, walked over to the door, and opened it with a smirk and a wink. Saphira turned to Fenrir.

"Are you hungry, Fen Fen? " Saphira asked; she grabbed her phone and stuck it in the pocket Loki had skillfully added to the front of her dress for her. Fenrir picked up his teddy bear, stood, and walked over to Loki; Saphira followed them out. When they walked into the kitchen, Kurt was sitting at the table drinking tea and texting Mantis on his phone, Remy was eating a bacon sandwich, Rogue sat next to him putting jam on a piece of toast, and Mystique was fixing a pot of coffee.

"Grammy," Fenrir cried, happily, running over and hugging Mystique around her middle; she lightly patted his back with a small smile, then Fenrir walked over and climbed in the chair next to Kurt. "What that?" He pointed at Kurt's mug.

"Tea," Kurt replied, "Want a drink?" he picked up the mug and held it towards him; Fenrir shook his head, making a face; Kurt laughed, then pulled his cup back and took a drink.

"What do you want to eat, Fenny?" Saphira asked, walking over to the cabinet.

"Oatmeal," Fenrir said; Saphira got out the oatmeal, and a pan, turned on the stove, and started making it, as everyone was talking. Loki had sat across from Kurt, and they got into a conversation; when the oatmeal was cooked, Saphira put some in a bowl, got a spoon, and took it over to Fenrir.

That evening Loki and Saphira were in the movie room; Loki was sitting on the sofa, with his feet propped up on the table, and reading a book while Saphira lay across the couch with her legs in Loki's lap, she was half watching the movie and half texting Enid. Loki was rubbing Saphira's knee, and Fenrir was on the floor building stuff with his blocks; Rosey was helping him.

"Enid told me Thor got in a fight with Tyr; you remember him, don't you?" Saphira said.

"I remember, love." Loki replied, "Bastard was full of himself; I hope Thor gave him a good beating."

"He did; Enid said he has a black eye, that's swollen shut," Saphira replied, "Enid said Tyr said something to Fandral, made some joke that Thor heard, and set him off; Enid didn't know what, Thor wouldn't say, only that it was inappropriate and disrespectful."

"Must have been something about one of us, most likely me," Loki replied and turned the page in his book before lying his hand back on Saphira's leg.

"Probably, " Saphira replied, "Or perhaps Enid, I remember Tyr was always a bit of an asshole; Thor didn't even like him."

"I do not think anyone did," Loki replied as Saphira rolled over on her side; she watched her movie, and Loki went back to his book, then tickled behind her knee.

"Loki, stop." Saphira laughed, "That tickles ."

"I know," Loki said, tickling her again before stopping. Then started tickling her side, making Saphira squirm while she laughed. Loki then sat his book aside and started tickling her more; it somehow ended with Saphira on her back while Loki laid over her, kissing her.

"Stop that!" Fenrir suddenly called out, " That's yucky, " Loki and Saphira broke their kiss laughing, then Loki moved off of Saphira.

"So, sorry, little Trickster," Loki said; Fenrir stood up and walked over and climbed into Loki's lap; he made Loki read his book to him, Saphira sat up and snuggled to Loki's arm and laid her head on his shoulder and listened to Loki's voice, he had such a beautiful voice. Saphira loved him so much, so loved them both so much, suddenly, before she knew it, Saphira had a tear falling down her face.

"Mommy sad," Fenrir said; Saphira looked over at him to see Fenrir watching her; Loki stopped reading and looked down at Fenrir, then turned to Saphira in time to see her wiping her eye.

"Darling, are you alright?" Loki asked; Saphira forced a smile.

"Yes, of course, just something in my eye," Saphira lied, "An eyelash, maybe."

"Are you sure?" Loki asked.

"Of course," Saphira replied; she made a show of rubbing her eye, and Loki let go of Fenrir, put his hand on her cheek, and was looking into her eye, then lightly blew into it, and Saphira smiled at his concern.

"How's that, darling?" Loki asked.

"I'm fine now; it's out," Saphira replied; as Loki rubbed his thumb along her cheekbone and smiled at her, they looked into each other's eyes.

"No kissing," Fenrir said, and Loki let go of Saphira and turned back to him, "Read."

"Yes, sir," Loki replied laughing; Saphira snuggled back into him, with her head on his shoulder to listen.

Saphira and Rogue sat on Saphira and Loki's bed, eating popcorn and watching amusedly as Loki and Remy had a little disagreement about how to put Fenrir's toddler bed together; Saphira decided since Fenrir was climbing out of his crib now that he needed a bed so that he wouldn't fall and get hurt.

"Why are our husbands such idiots when they are together?" Rogue asked, tossing popcorn into her mouth.

"Because they bring each other's true self out," Saphira answered; they laughed as Remy and Loki glared their way.

"Maybe we should keep them apart," Rogue said, laughing; Saphira agreed, and when Remy and Loki both glared over at them again, the two women clasped in fits of laughter, and when Loki ordered them out of the room, they laughed more and didn't move off the bed. When they finally got the bed together, it was late afternoon, and Fenrir was so excited about having a big boy bed, he followed Mystique around, talking her ear off about it the rest of the day.

August 17, 2016

When Saphira realized how close it was getting to September, she couldn't hold back her tears, so she hid that by tending to her plants all day; no one liked getting too close to her plants, so it was an excellent place to hide her tears, plus working with her flowers was always calming to Saphira, and good to get everything out of her mind while doing something she enjoyed.

"Hi, mommy." Fenrir walked up to Saphira planted some seeds.

"Hey, Fenny, " Saphira said, trying to wipe her tears on her arm since her hands were covered in dirt. "Dose, daddy, know you snuck away again?"

"No," Fenrir shook his head; he loved it when his curls would bounce around.

"I thought so, " Saphira replied; she wiped her hand on her pant leg, then pulled out her phone and texted Loki that Fenrir was with her, then sat her phone aside and turned back Fenrir. "Would you like to help mommy plant her seeds?"

Fenrir loved to help Saphira plant seeds and tend to her flowers because he loved playing in the dirt. Saphira also noticed that he was good at it and had a feeling he was at least going to have her ability to make things grow. The three cats on the ship seem to adore him, so Saphira figured he would have her connection to animals too, his favorite was wolves for some reason, and Saphira wished desperately that she could be alive when he got old enough to take care of a pet, she'd buy him a wolf.

"Mommy, don't be sad," Fenrir said, looking at Saphira with a frown.

"Mommy's okay, don't worry, sweetie," Saphira told him; Fenrir hugged her, Saphira smiled and hugged him back. "Mommy loves you so much, Fenny, don't ever forget that,"

"I love you, mommy," Fenrir said back.

Saphira gasped and hugged him tighter as the tears fell from her eyes; he had never said that before; Saphira got to be the first person he spoke that to. They pulled apart and then spent the rest of the evening planting seeds together. Then when they were done, Saphira and Fenrir went hunting Loki down, so she could tease him about being the first person Fenrir said I love you too; he ruined Saphira's fun a little when Fenrir told Loki he loved him, then spent the next three days saying it to everyone.

By the time September arrived, Saphira had gotten better at holding everything in, even if she had constant chest pains over what would happen in the next few days; on the tenth, they would arrive on Asgard, the eleventh would be Thor and Enid's coronation, the twelfth would be Fenrir's third birthday, then on the thirteenth, Thanos would attack their ship as they leave Asgard; Saphira didn't know when or how it would happen just that for some reason, Thor and Enid would be with them, and she was going to have to use the reality stone to get Kurt to think Enid is her so he'll teleport Enid to safety, Saphira had a plan and hoped it played out the way she needed. Saphira was thankful that Rosey could understand her and listen because she had a part in this plan of Saphira's; hopefully, when the time comes, she'll do her part.

"Alright, I yield," Loki said as Rogue had his arm pinned behind his back, holding him down on the back of the couch; Rogue let go of him with a push, and Loki flipped over onto the front of the sofa and to the floor below, where he rolled on his back and laughter. "You are too bloody strong."

"Remember that next time you wish to pick on me," Remy replied, "I'll sick Rogue on you."

"Shut up, Remy," Loki said as he got to his feet; Rogue came around the couch and put her fist up. "No, like this, " Loki took her hands and positioned them right. "Now you swung like this, do not hit me, though."

"Why not?" Rogue asked; she swung at Loki, who quickly ducked it, then got back to instructing her how to fight; Rogue had incredible strength, along with the ability to drain someone of their power and energy, but Rogue was used to using her strength to punch her way out of trouble. Lately, Loki has gotten it in his head she needed to learn actual fight moves; in case she ever got one of the power dampening collars around her neck again, she would have something to fail back on and defend herself.

"Very funny, sister," Loki replied, "Now come on, be serious. Here you stand like this and...hey! " Rogue had suddenly grabbed Loki's arm and flipped him over her shoulder and onto the floor.

"You're the one who had taught me these movies, sugar," Rogue said, kicking Loki's leg lightly while laughing. She reached her hand down to help him; he tried not to smile; Saphira knew Loki wasn't annoyed. She knew he was happy Rogue was picking up so quickly because Remy had already taught her a few things, and Loki just loved teaching people; he offered to teach her magic, but Rogue had declined the offer.

"Alright, let's try this again," Loki said.

September 3, 2016

Laughter rang out as Remy LeBeau chased Fenrir around the game room, trying to get his wallet back; the nearly three-year-old had picked it out of Remy's pocket when he played pool. The rest of the room was of no help, as they only laughed watching the scene.

"Come on, Fen, give Uncle Remy his wallet back," Remy said, trying to sneak up to a paused Fenrir.

"No, " Fenrir said, then ran around the couch and hid behind Mischief, who hissed at Remy in warning when he tried to step towards Fenrir.

"That's cheating, mon ami," Remy said.

"It's your fault, sugar," Rogue called over to him, "You're the one who taught him how to pickpockets."

At that moment, Loki walked into the room, followed by Rosey, Fenrir took off running to him, and Loki picked him up.

"Daddy, help," Fenrir said.

"Help? What do you need help with, my little Mischief maker?" Loki asked; Fenrir pointed at Remy, "Is Uncle Remy after you? Want daddy to freeze him?" Fenrir nodded, causing everyone to laugh, everyone but Remy.

"He has my wallet," Remy said.

"Fenrir, do you have Uncle Remy's wallet?" Loki asked, looking at the said wallet in Fenrir's hand. "Did you pick his pocket again?"

"Yep," Fenrir said; he then giggled when Loki tickled him; after a moment, Loki got Remy's wallet back and tossed it to him. Fenrir wiggled out of Loki's arms and ran over to Remy and held up his arms, wanting Remy to pick him up.

"I love you, Rem," Fenrir told him.

"Aww, Fen, Uncle Rem loves you too," Remy said, sitting on the couch with Fenrir; Kurt laughed.

"Not even three yet and already knows how to get himself out of trouble," Kurt said, "He will grow up to be worse than Loki."

"Hey," Loki cried, making everyone laugh.

September 10, 2016

It was the day they would arrive on Asgard. This time, everyone was wearing whatever they wanted, not feeling as if they needed to come dressed up this time Kurt, Remy, and Rogue in jeans and t-shirts, Mystique in her usual leather outfit, Loki in black pants and green top, and Saphira was in a blue dress with pink hummingbirds all over it, it came to her knees, and she had her hair pulled back with a silver headband that had horns on it.

"Dum Dum," Fenrir shouted, wiggling out of Kurt's arms and running to Thor the moment he saw him when they walked into the palace.

"Nephew," Thor replied, smiling as he picked Fenrir up and hugged him. "I will be your King tomorrow; maybe you should not continue to call me Dum Dum."

"Dum Dum." Fenrir giggled.

"He only speaks the truth, brother." Loki teased, walking up to them.

"You are not funny, Loki," Thor replied, sitting Fenrir down; he ran ahead of them into the throne room.

"Fenny, wait for us," Saphira called out; she went to follow, and Thor stopped her.

"Enid and Mother are in there; he'll be fine," Thor explained, then he grinned, "How about a hug for your favorite brother-in-law?"

"Who says your my favorite?" Saphira demanded, "I don't even like you."

Thor only laughed as he put his arm around her and pulled Saphira into a one-arm hug, as he did the same to Loki.

"Come, everyone is in the throne room, waiting," Thor said, and with one arm still around, Saphira and one around Loki, he turned and headed into the throne room, where Odin sat on the throne Frigga was holding Fenrir. Enid was standing next to her, listening to Fenrir talk; Saphira found it hard to keep back tears; it was a bittersweet moment, but she was glad, her last few days would be at home, with all of her family.

AN: I thought I'd show them being happy one more time before everything happens; the next chapter should pick up; they'll be around three or so chapters then the events in Infinity Wars will happen.
