Sekhmet
Falling Rain
The second chapter
By Embodiment of Sekhmet
Bakura stared absentmindly out the window to the Kame Game Shop, his mind a thousand different places at once.
He was seated on a stool next to the window, his wrists bandaged with green wrappings.
He was dressed in a simple black t-shirt and blue jeans, nothing out of the ordinary for a normal seventeen year old boy to wear...
Except for the Millenium Ring that hung from his neck.
It was raining outside...
It was suppose to storm for four days straight, flood warnings were mentioned on TV for seacoast area and many people were inside, restless...
Behind Bakura, behind the counter to the small shop stood Yugi Motou...
The hikari of course, the yami of the pair wasn't fond of the cash register. He preffered to answer questions or the phone.
The boy's violet eyes glanced sadly at the teenager with white hair.
The doctor had ordered, after calling Ryou's father, that he was not to be felt alone for the next few weeks. The man had also suggested Ryou go to counseling...
So Yugi had offered to had him come stay with him for a few weeks until his father returned from England.
Thus, he was now here, in the Kame Game Shop, staring out the window with an empty look on his face and in his eyes...
"Bakura?"
The smoky dark brown eyes flickered momentarily before going blank once more.
"Yes?" He replied softly, his once harsh voice scratchy and hoarse.
"What are you looking at?" The lighter one asked the darker, coming out from behind the counter.
Bakura sighed softly, closing his eyes.
"He always loved the rain..." He said after a moment before opening his eyes to stare outside again.
MEMORY
"Bakura! Look yami! It's raining again!"
/So? Why should I care/
Doe brown eyes glimmered with happiness as their owner stepped out into the spring shower.
"Warm rain is a sign of change you know. It's a sign that spring is here, and that summer is coming soon after... A sign that winter is finally over with, so plants can begin growing again..."
The boy could feel the spirit snort in laughter.
/You're such a child hikari.../
There was a warm smile as the boy continued to twirl and dance in the rain, the spirit within him content to watch his childish vessal...
END OF MEMORY
He was crying again...
The hikari of the Pharaoh was about to say something when the phone rang.
He gave the crying teen a sympathtic look before turning to get the phone.
Bakura smiled sadly...
"I never told you, I never told you that I used to do that same thing when I was little... Did I?"
In a brief flicker of light, souls exchanged and the King of Games stood behind the counter.
Picking up the head set the once Pharaoh sighed.
"Good afternoon Kame Game Shop..."
There was silence in the small shop before the shorter of the two let out a surprised gasp.
"What? How could you have known? Malik, stop saying that!" The duelist snapped almost angrily.
Bakura slouched slightly in the silence.
Yami sighed again, this time in frustration.
"If you think it will help then fine, come if you want too..."
Turning back to to his former enemy, he stared at the slumped form of the once mighty Tomb Robber.
"That was Malik. He said he sensed a disturbance within the items and-"
"I don't care..." He muttered standing.
Walking to the door he opened it and stepped out into the rain, content to let it drench him.
/I hope you're happy with your sister up in heaven...Ryou.../
...I will miss you... And I will always see your face when it rains...
