A/N: I know that things are supposed to be facing east with all of this. But unfortunately the sun sets in the west...so lets pretend there is a mountain range to the west of Minas Tirith as well, and not just the mountain that it is built on.
Disclaimer: I don't own them.
Water splashed as a child ran through a puddle. He had been kept inside all day, but now that the rain had stopped, even with the dying light, he was taking advantage being able to run outside. His parents followed him, making sure that he did not run to far away, though being in the gardens of Minas Tirith meant he could not go far.
He ran to the edge, standing at the wall looking out of the Pelennor. "Mama, Papa," he called excitedly. Faramir and Éowyn walked over to where Elboron was standing amused at where their son had ended up. "Look," he pointed out over the field to the west. The setting sun sank below the gray clouds over head, lighting everything in a golden glow. As they did before, Éowyn and Faramir clasped hands as the wind picked up and mixed their hair in raven and gold. This time, however, there was more raven than gold, as Éowyn was also holding her dark haired daughter in her arms.
Silence surrounded the family, and Elboron decided to break it again. "Was it like this when the Shadow left?" He asked. He had heard stories about that day for as long as he could remember.
"A little, but it was brighter," Faramir answered his son, "and there were eagles flying through the sky to tell us of what happened as well."
"Tell me the story again, Papa." Elboron begged, looking up at Faramir.
"I am sure he will, but how about as a bedtime story." Éowyn said, turning away from the sinking sun. Elboron nodded and held his arms up for Faramir to pick him up. Faramir picked up Elboron.
"I want story too." Their daughter chimed in after Elboron was in Faramir's arms.
"I thought you were already asleep." Éowyn said softly.
"Not asleep," she said shaking her head before she yawned.
"Of course you are not sleepy." Faramir said.
They stood upon the walls a little longer, watching the sun fade into the west. They turned back to their rooms when their children began to yawn together.
Éowyn turned to Faramir after they had left their children with their nurse to have her ready them for bed, before Faramir went and told them the story. "How will you end your tale?"
"Years later, the same couple stood on the walls with their two children and watched the sunset." He said before kissing her. Éowyn wrapped her arms around Faramir after their lips separated.
"I like that ending. Now go and tell them before they come looking for you." She said with a playful smile.
Please review! Always wanted.
