Hi! Here is my new soulmate AU for Flora and Helia. This has been coming a long time, and I'm so excited to post it! I'm generally hoping for weekly updates (for the most part).
Just so we're all on the same page, the general concept of my story is that at the age of 16, everyone in the Magic Dimension (besides Earth) is required to create/buy an object that will be sent (through their respective governments) to their soulmate (via Magic). They may spell that token to do a particular trick, say light up for instance. Once soulmates meet the goal is that they will recognize each other's token/gift, and from there on are "bonded". Societal expectations are that people who are bonded will quickly announce the relationship, and soon after get married.
The characters are in the Magic Dimension, and can still wield magic, but it's simply not a focus in this fic, so they won't be using it much. And we'll say Bloom is just a commoner fire fairy from Sparks.
This fic is generally rated G, at least for now, we'll see how later chapters go. I will post specific content warnings above each chapter if I feel the chapter requires it, or if someone requests one be added in. Don't be afraid to ask I am happy to do so.
I'd also like to mention that this fic is inspired by "A Natural Fit: Soulmates AU by QueenofHufflepuff. It's also an amazing Flora/Helia soulmate fic. You may see some similarities...but I've tried to make this fic as unique as possible. But I just want to credit the author because I did take inspiration from their original fic.
Thanks for stopping by!
"And that was the weather report, thank you, Julia," the newscaster said, "Now moving onto entertainment news, Tec Tok founder and social media influencer Tecna Tipton has just announced her bonding to a software developer, Timothy Jones. In an Instagram post that featured her new man, Tecna says, 'One week ago, I met my soulmate. I am so excited to start this journey and to spend the rest of my life with him. Please allow us some privacy as we are building our relationship. We will share more details when we are ready to do so.' Congratulations to the new couple, and we hope to see news about an engagement and wedding within the following months. But we do have exclusive reports that they met—"
Click. The TV shut off and with it, the rest of the power in the shoddy apartment. It would have been pitch black and silent if it weren't for the red and blue of the police lights and sirens along with belligerent shouts from the street below traveling their way up.
It's too damn early to be dealing with this shit.
Shoot. Flora cursed to herself as she made her way off the couch, expertly navigating through the dark, and turned off the TV, lest it turned on in the middle of the day once the power returned and ran up her electricity bill. What a shame a power outage had to happen now…she wanted to see today's news and traffic report. Oh well, she could catch up at work.
Her eyes fluttered over to the swan-shaped origami resting on her table, reflecting the red and blue of the police lights, still as pristine as the day she received it. She gently plucked the swan off the table and encased it in a protective bubble before placing it into her bag. Even on the toughest of days, days where the power didn't work and the tap water was brown and drunk people tried to break down her door, that swan gave her the one fragment of hope that there was a future to look forward to, a future that held love and companionship.
The swan was her soulmates' token and whenever she was destined to meet them it was apparently spelled to do something incredible. It was cute, but fragile as hell, and made it a pain to carry around everywhere for the past eight years just in case she met them, whoever they were, wherever they were. But her soulmate was worth it. Her soulmate would always be worth it.
At least she hoped they'd be worth it.
Flora quickly got ready and left the apartment, thoughts of her soulmate at the forefront of her mind. But little did she know how soon it would be before she met them.
Dozens of screaming fans squeezed themselves onto the sidewalk to catch a glimpse of Magix's most eligible bachelor: Helia Knightly. After Tecna's bonding with her soulmate, Helia was the last singleton of the Winx Club, a group of royals, influencers, and celebrities who were also lifelong friends, and everyone in Magix wanted him.
"Look, there he is!" someone screamed, and suddenly everyone's attention was pulled to the black SUV that pulled up in front of the hotel. Pandemonium ensued, young women and men clamoring over each other, baring their tokens, hoping, praying that they would catch his attention, and that he would be the one, their soulmate.
"Helia marry me!"
"I love you!"
"Helia, I want to have your babies!"
Helia stepped out of his car and smiled shyly and waved at his adoring fans, which seemed to make them go even more insane. He slowly made his way towards the entrance, occasionally signing autographs and posing for selfies.
At times like these, when his singleness was emphasized in the media, Helia appreciated how loved he was by his fans. Even when they were clearly disappointed when they realized he wasn't their soulmate, they still at least tried to love him and his work, and that was all he could ask for.
"Okay, thank you, everybody!" Helia yelled briefly before he dashed in quickly to the hotel lobby, where he met his friends, Sky and Nabu. They greeted each other, then entered the elevator and selected the penthouse button. Once they reached the penthouse, the men stalked into the grand living room, pouring a couple of drinks and making themselves comfortable, as they waited for the arrival of the rest of the group.
"So…" Sky grinned cheekily, "Looks like you're getting a lot of attention, dude. Now that Tecna's bonded that means you're the last one, you better find your soulmate before we find them for you."
Helia's face turned bright red, but before he could even retort, Nabu stepped in, "Leave him alone, Sky. They're destined to meet whenever it happens, no need to rush."
"Yeah but he's going to turn twenty-two soon, most people bond by the time they're eighteen, twenty at the latest. So where are they?"
"Tecna turns twenty-one in a couple of months and she just met Timmy!"
"How is Timmy, by the way? Is he cool?" Helia asked, before Sky tried once again to convince him to hire a private investigator to track down his soulmate. That, and he was genuinely curious. Helia had been away to Melody on business when Tecna bonded with Timmy, so he missed all of the introductions. Meeting today at the hotel was mostly to have everyone hang out for a day, but also for Helia to meet Timmy in a low-pressure situation.
"Pretty cool, a bit awkward and geeky, but I think he'll fit in," Nabu answered, "He seems really smitten with Tecna, and she's so happy she's practically glowing."
"Really?" Helia had known Tecna for a long time, and he had never known her to glow.
"Yeah," Nabu confirmed, and Sky nodded his agreement, "That's what love does to you," Nabu sighed nonchalantly. His eyes suddenly went wide as he realized how that may have offended Helia, "But don't worry dude, it'll happen for you soon."
Helia forcibly grinned, acknowledging Nabu's remark, but his heart dropped to his stomach. He absentmindedly played with his floral choker necklace between his fingers, the token his soulmate gave him, almost over 6 years ago. It's been so long…where were they?
Where was his soulmate?
