This is my first X-Men fan fiction, so bear with me. If Logan seems a little OOC, I'm sorry. Hope you enjoy.
Logan looked outside at a girl with black messy hair. She was looking at the sky as rain fell down upon her. Her name was Ryan and she was his Goddaughter. Logan couldn't believe that the only reason why she was here was because her parents abandoned her. When she'd gotten out of the car, they said something about how she wasn't normal and that he could take better care of her than they could.
As Logan continued to watch Ryan, he knew that something was wrong and that she was upset. But there was more to it than that, he could sense it. Logan called to her but she continued to stand in the rain, as if she didn't care.
He called to her again but she didn't turn around, she didn't even answer, she just stood in the rain. She felt the rain hit her face over and over again as she began to cry. With every strike of rain, more tears sprang from her eyes.
Logan knew she knew that her parents left her because she was different-mutant different. Ryan wasn't like other 13 year old girls, she had unusually sharp yet short nails, liked to climb, and had things about her that were just all around weird. Her parents had burned down their house and got rid of any trace that they'd had a daughter. They left Ryan with Logan because they were leaving. To where, Logan didn't know. He watched her stand there and he knew he had to do something; otherwise she would catch a cold.
Logan ran out and looked into the eyes of his Goddaughter. He could smell the salty scent of tears as he joined her in the rain.
" Ryan," Logan said. " What's wrong?"
He sort of knew exactly what was wrong, but he wanted he to express her feelings.
" They left me," Ryan said as if she was hypnotized. " My parents abandoned me and left me in your care. Today, they just left me with you. They hate me."
With every word, more tears fell down her cheeks.
" They don't love me anymore. They just cast me away like and old dish towel," Ryan cried.
At that moment, she began to pound her fist into Logan's stomach. He flinched only once but otherwise, couldn't feel it. He figured it was time she let it all out, since she'd been keeping it all bottled in. In his book, she'd been showing the most amount of bravery he'd ever seen in a girl her age. Ryan had been acting like it didn't bother her, at least until now.
" They left me!" Ryan punched. " They hate me!"-Punch-" Why?"-Punch-" Why?"-Punch-" Why?"
She stopped punching and began crying in Logan's arms. He stood there in complete shock and held the distraught teenager.
" Look," Logan sighed. " It's going to be okay. They don't know what they did to you."
He wasn't normally a great comforter, but this time the words just fell out. Ryan's tears kept coming like a broken faucet and Logan found himself rubbing her back and trying to soothe her.
" They don't know how special you are and what a treasure they've taken out of their lives."
With that said, Ryan began to cry harder.
" Hey," Logan frowned. " What's wrong now?"
" They left me," Ryan started.
" I know," Logan nodded.
" They left me today," she choked. " On…on my birthday."
Logan felt a rush run over him, he kissed her forehead and held her closer. He had never ever been so nice to anyone in his entire life. Storm, Rogue, Iceman, and Nightcrawler (who had been watching the whole situation pan out in a nearby tree) made a circle around the two.
" No vone deserves that," Nightcrawler whispered to a sad looking Storm.
" No one deserves to be abandoned on their birthday," Logan said. " Cry, baby girl, cry. You been through a lot, so you just cry, just cry."
