Ulrich362: Well this is a new idea based on an older one right Bopdog?

bopdog111: Yeah, the prequel to Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: The Sacred Shadows.

Ulrich362: Exactly, and that means Yugi and the others will meet the Shadow Operatives.

bopdog111: We won't be including Duelist Kingdom though.

Ulrich362: Nothing against the tournament… but the rules are… a bit random. That said, let's see what happens. Enjoy the chapter.

bopdog111: Hold up for a bit of fun, I thought of something here.

Ulrich362: Oh? What do you have planned?

bopdog111: At the end of every chapter me or Ulrich will place in a piece of Trivia regarding either this, Sacred Shadows, or the upcoming sequel to Sacred Shadows.

Ulrich362: Sounds fun.

bopdog111: Well at least until me, or Ulrich forgets.

Ulrich362: Fair point.

bopdog111: And also me, and Ulrich's Duel Monsters ideas with the original series always ended up stopping or never completed. We managed to complete the Battle City Arc at Sister of Yuya before so that gives hope that we can complete Duel Monsters.

Ulrich362: I think we can bud, ready to start?

bopdog111: Yeah I am.

Ulrich362: Enjoy the chapter.

Disclaimer: We don't own Yu-Gi-Oh! or Persona but we own any OCs!

It was 10 years right before Duel Academy, and the mission of the new Investigation Team to be the protectors of the Sacred Beasts. 11 years before a new Wildcard was named. 12 years before a large scale Shadow war between Light or Darkness was decided. To where those Sacred Beasts are a large part in the war that was to come between the Shadows, and the Persona Users.

But before that story begins... we have the story of how this all began. And how Duel Monsters had a place in the impending war between the Shadows, and the Persona users.

Along with it before 2 years after the events of Tartarus where Minato Arisato sacrificed himself to become, The Great Seal, to seal away Nyx to stop her from beginning the Fall. And 2 years after several individuals managed to find out about a large monster named Erebus attempting to contact Nyx to start the Fall only to have Minato as the Great Seal blocking it's way. With a goal in mind to one-day free Minato from his destiny by one-day stopping Erebus for good, the Shadow Operatives under the Club Name S.E.E.S. (Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad) all graduated from being Seniors now working with the Kirijo Group to hopefully find a solution.

That is where this story begins... The start of a Business Partnership with the upcoming Battle City hosted by Kaibacorp.

A young woman with red hair frowned as she looked at a computer monitor. "Are these reports accurate Yamagishi?"

"Yes Kirijo-san." a woman's voice answered, "There are Shadow readings around building up to powerful levels."

The woman frowned. "This is the fifth time this month, the Shadows appear in Domino City and we get a reading but then they just vanish. Something's going on there and I have a bad feeling about this."

"And Kaibacorp is gonna host some kind of tournament with Domino City as the entire arena." a male voice added to that, "I bet the Shadows are waiting for a lot of people to gather to attack."

"Kaibacorp, isn't that the gaming company that used to develop military weapons?" the woman, Yamagishi, inquired.

"The same, if the Shadows are going to make a move during this tournament it would be wise to speak with the CEO as soon as possible." the red-haired woman noted thoughtfully. "Send a message to the others asking them to meet at Yakushima... I'll join you as soon as I can."

"Will do." the male voice said to her.

She nodded at that before sighing.

"Will you require the helicopter Mitsuru-san?" asked a maid standing near her.

"No, we should be able to drive." the woman, Mitsuru, answered. "I just need to make a call before we leave."

"Of course." the maid nodded at that.

Meanwhile in Domino City...

A young man having brown hair wearing a long purple trenchcoat, a black turtleneck shirt, and matching pants with steel wristbands on both of his wrists was with a young boy on a green blue-striped shirt with a yellow vest over it, dark blue jeans, and blue sneakers we're both in a office while the man was working on a Deck of cards while the little boy was working on a tablet.

They were Seto Kaiba, and Mokuba Kaiba respectfully, both are brothers, and relatives of the Kaiba Family. Seto Kaiba the older brother is the CEO of Kaibacorp, and after having defeated his step-father Gozaburo converted his family's use of military weaponry for domination into a Gaming Company with the main progress being Duel Monsters, the card game that existed in Ancient Times in Egypt.

Mokuba Kaiba, the little brother, acts as Seto's supporter, and the only one Seto can show true affection towards. He values Mokuba about all else since whenever anyone tried to adopt him in the orphanage they used to stay, he said he won't leave unless Mokuba goes with him. Mokuba been through a lot recently, and now things are back to normal.

It started with Duelist Kingdom where Seto, and Mokuba's souls were trapped in cards by the creator of the game, Maximillion Pegasus with Kaibacorp developing the new Duel Disk system. Although Seto fought well against Pegasus, he lost in the end, and there souls were released by his rival Yugi Muto, who had another soul in his body which is frequently called Yami. Right now Seto is in the minds of hosting a large tournament for one reason:

The Egyptian God Cards.

After he had been given the Egyptian God, Obelisk the Tormentor, by a woman by the name of Ishizu, he vows to acquire all three of the Egyptian Gods to become the best Duelist or King of Games, and defeat Yugi fair, and square one day. Right now he is working on his Deck to prepare on entering while writing down some papers for what the Tournament will be about.

Suddenly a phone on his desk started to ring. Looking at this while grumbling about the interruption he takes the phone. "This is Seto Kaiba speaking."

"My apologies for the sudden call, my name is Mitsuru Kirijo." a female voice stated calmly. "I was hoping to speak with you about a rather important matter."

"Mitsuru Kirijo huh? The President of the Kirijo Group, I am guessing?" Kaiba asked her interested.

"That's right." Mitsuru noted. "I won't waste your time, this tournament of yours is going to be incredibly dangerous and lives could be lost."

"That's a rather bold claim for you to say." Kaiba said with narrowed eyes.

"True, but I wouldn't make that claim if I wasn't certain of it." Mitsuru replied. "Though I doubt requesting you cancel this competition is going to be enough to persuade you."

"You'd be right to doubt that." Kaiba said to her at this, "I have a goal that I will see achieve no matter what. But if it is something as you described it, perhaps we can work something out."

"I was hoping we could come to an agreement." Mitsuru chuckled. "What did you have in mind?"

"If you are really certain about something as bold as this then perhaps, you, and some people you know can come compete in Battle City." Kaiba answered to her.

It was for two things:

1. It's to see if Mitsuru is a strong player herself if she is the CEO of the Kirijo Group who Kaibacorp used to work for in the past.

2. To see if the Kirijo Group has acquired an Egyptian God Card themselves.

There was silence for a brief moment after that.

"When is this tournament of yours going to take place, and my friends and I would require the rules as we've never participated before." Mitsuru pointed out.

"You have 2 weeks." Kaiba answered at that before saying, "I'll have my right-hand man Roland send a list of the rules that are coming to Battle City." Although the chances of people like them having an Egyptian God Card, and using it is slim, it is possible they will use it to test it's power. "And as for cards that your company might lack, that can be fixed. I'll be sure to send a card making machine over to your company."

"That's rather generous of you." Mitsuru noted. "I was planning on speaking with you in person but I suppose that can wait until this tournament of yours is underway. Though there is one small matter, a simple question."

"And that is...?" Kaiba trailed off for her to speak.

He heard Mitsuru speaking to someone but their voices were muffled.

"My apologies, something just came up so we'll have to speak later during your tournament. Not including me there should be six other competitors assuming they all are able to make it." she said calmly before hanging up.

Kaiba looked before hanging up which Mokuba spoke up, "The Kirijo Group? Aren't they that company that Kaibacorp used to work with?" His memory was fuzzy but he did recall Gozaburo once working with them.

"They are. That business ship is over now, but now it seems to have renewed with Battle City." Kaiba said to Mokuba. That was before he told his brother, "Now Mokuba, find Roland, and tell him to send over a Card Maker Machine, and a list of the rules to the Kirijo Group not more, or soon as 2 weeks."

"Right away Seto." Mokuba nodded running out of the room.

Left alone Kaiba searced his Deck before taking out a card looking at it.

It was Obelisk the Tormentor.

"Soon now, I will obtain the other two Egyptian Gods, and become the King of Games. Maybe perhaps the Kirijo Group has plans involving you, and them. I will obtain them myself." Kaiba gave a smirk to the card as the camera exited the room through the window.

Meanwhile...

Mitsuru closed her eyes in thought only to open them as she found herself in a blue elevator sitting across from a man in a suit with a long nose and a woman in a blue elevator assistant outfit.

"Welcome back." the man greeted with a grin.

"It's been a while Mitsuru-kun." the woman greeted herself with a smile.

"This is..." Mitsuru started seeing them.

"The Velvet Room." finished a blonde woman with bright blue eyes. "Elizabeth-san, why have you called us here?"

"That's simple, it's due to the coming trial that you will soon be involved in." the woman, Elizabeth answered calmly.

"What kind of trial, if I can ask?" Mitsuru asked.

"The specifics remain to be seen, however it involves the Shadows and forces that you have yet to encounter." Elizabeth answered. "It shouldn't be of the same nature as the events you underwent alongside our guest however it would be unwise to underestimate this new trial."

"Indeed." the long nosed man nodded. "We will speak again if necessary, however keep in mind that the bonds you have both new and old may be the key to preventing a catastrophe."

The two woman nodded hearing that understanding. With that the blue room slowly faded.

Over the next few days several people arrived at Yakushima beach along with Mitsuru, a young boy with brown hair and a white shiba inu dog. A young man with a goatee wearing a baseball cap, a white-haired young man, the blonde woman from the Velvet Room, a young woman with teal hair holding a computer, and a brunette woman in a pink dress.

They were Ken Amada, Koromaru, Junpei Iori, Akihiko Sanada, Aigis, Fuuka Yamagishi, and Yukari Takeba respectfully. Together with Mitsuru, Minato, and Shinjiro they were the SEES, a group of dedicated students employed by the Kirijo Group to destroy the Shadows, and stop Nyx from calling the Fall. Although there numbers were reduced with Shinjiro's death, and Minato's sacrifice they are still strong as Aigis became the team's leader, and Wildcard.

The only ones that changed we're Ken Amada as he had grown a little after what happened, and Koromaru became an adult dog himself.

"I appreciate you all coming on such short notice." Mitsuru mentioned to them calmly.

"Anything for our pal, and club leader." Junpei grinned to her at this before asking curiously, "So what exactly is going on? This isn't really a reunion on good circumstances is it?"

"Unfortunately not." Mitsuru answered.

"There's been a lot of unusual Shadow Activity in Domino City." Fuuka explained.

"Domino City? Isn't that the place where it holds the Kaiba Corparation?" Yukari asked curiously.

"Yes, the president is going to be hosting a tournament soon." Mitsuru nodded. "That's going to be our way to move throughout the city and keep our eyes open for any unusual activity from the Shadows."

"But there's a catch right?" Junpei asked feeling there is something else going on.

"We'll have to compete in the Battle City tournament." Mitsuru answered as a maid walked over and handed the others a rulebook. "I'll admit this is unlike anything we've experienced so far though the longer we can remain in the competition the more likely we are to notice what's really going on."

They take it opening it checking. Seeing what it's based around Ken's eyes widen, "Wait... this is Duel Monsters!"

"You know this game Ken?" Yukari asked in surprise.

Ken nodded at that. "Before... before mom died, me, and her used to play this card game when I was young. It was Duel Monsters, a game that is different compared to the other Games me, and her ever known where you summon powerful monsters, cast mythical spells, and springing dangerous traps on your opponent. It was even rumored to go all the way to ancient Egypt."

He then looked down. "But... after she died... I just stopped playing."

"Ancient Egypt?" Akihiko questioned. "So the Shadows might be involved."

"Will you be ok, it won't bring back any painful memories?" Fuuka asked him.

Ken looked at them before he then said, "I'll... I'll be okay. Besides... I know she would want me to keep playing."

"If you're sure." Fuuka nodded.

"Hold on, we don't have any of these cards... even if we memorized the rules we can't compete in a tournament like this." Yukari pointed out.

Mitsuru at that said to them, "Well Kaibacorp was generous enough to give us something for that." They looked to her as she explained, "The president said he is sending over a machine that can create cards. So it gives us free reign to create any card we desire to prepare for this tournament."

"Then I guess you'll be helping us with that right Ken?" Junpei grinned.

Ken nodded at that before saying, "I also used to hold a card stash. Feel free to have any card you guys want." He then turned over to probably the only member who can't do, "And... sorry boy, even though you are our teammate, you can't help us with this."

He was talking to Koromaru since he can't be a duelist as... well he's a dog, and he can't enter Tournaments like these. Koromaru barked as though saying he would stay with Ken.

"That brings me to another detail, should we include our Personas in our collection of cards?" Mitsuru inquired. "The rules state they could be destroyed and we have no way of knowing what kind of consequences that could have on our physical or mental state."

They all looked at each at this before Akihiko stated, "We will."

They looked towards him as he explained, "We all fought, and gotten this far with them. Even though we can't use them without the Dark Hour, or Tartarus, we can use them here in the real world through this game. And besides if Shadows do appear, we can have a way to fight them without needing to get in too close."

"Very well, then we should start by coming up with strategies to try and optimize our chances of staying in the competition." Mitsuru smiled. "We have time before the tournament and we can keep our eyes open for Shadow Activity."

They all nodded at this agreeing.

1 week later...

A phone call rang in Mitsuru's cellphone while she is reading the rule book. Putting the book down she answered the phone. "Hello?"

"Miss. Kirijo." was the voice of her maid, "The card machine by Kaibacorp has just arrived."

"I see, thank you for letting me know." Mitsuru mentioned before hanging up to head down to the living room.

"How is everything going?" Mitsuru inquired.

"Still a pain in the ass to figure which card to pick." Junpei grumbled at this before sighing complaining, "Who knew making a stack of cards would be hard?"

"Yeah it is difficult at first but it'll get easier the more experienced you get." Ken admitted with a small smile since out of all members of the SEES, he has the most experience in Deck making. "Still making Decks on what cards you want, and how you use them are sometimes hard to do justice. And besides, just knowing what cards your using are only one part to use, it's also knowing how to use them effectively."

"Maybe we're looking at this the wrong way." Yukari mentioned. "We're trying to find cards that fit us right, but can't we just make them ourselves?"

"Well funny you mentioned that." Mitsuru said as they looked to her where she announced, "The card machine Kaibacorp provided just came in."

"It has?" Junpei asked before grinning. "Right, so let's get started making these new cards."

"Hold on Junpei, we should figure out individual game plans first." Akihiko pointed out.

"Yeah, we can't be identical completely. We gotta separate them, and make them unique." Aigis agreed with a nod.

"So where do we start?" Fuuka asked.

"Well Ken you got any ideas?" Mitsuru asked him.

Ken blinked before he shook his head blushing, "Uh, no, I may be a experienced player but I'm not one for creating cards."

Yukari then stood up, "Wait a sec." They looked to her as she gives thought, "Ken what were the purple, and blue monsters you said have a different summoning then the others?"

"Fusion Monsters and Ritual Monsters, what about them Yukari-san?" he asked curiously.

Yukari at that nodded, "Well perhaps... We can have our Persona's evolutions be Ritual Monsters?"

"That could definitely work." Akihiko nodded.

"Well should we head over?" Mitsuru suggested which they all nodded.

Meanwhile a few minutes later...

The team watched as the workers finished installing, and powered up the machine. One of the workers then said to Mitsuru, "Oh Miss Kirijo, there is also one other thing that Kaibacorp sent to us."

"Yes?" Mitsuru inquired hearing that.

He directed to a large box which when opened showed 7 gauntlets with a blade that is spilt in half with a counter, and buttons on it along with a kind of robot that has parts that can be easily combined together that has 5 card slots with a counter with 10 opened zones.

"What's this?" Junpei asked looking at the robot. "Fuuka can you make heads or tails of it?"

Fuuka checked over before saying, "I seen something like this from one of Kaibacorps' mechanics. It was the Dueling Robot that they are developing to act as practice opponents for Duel Monsters."

"Then we can practice before the tournament." Mitsuru noted.

"Do you need help putting it together?" Aigis asked her.

"They can handle it Aigis-chan." Fuuka assured her gesturing to the workers with a smile. "In the mean time we should also get to use these devices, and construct our Decks."

"Me, and mom never used these before..." Ken admitted looking at the gauntlets. "We use mats to play Duel Monsters on. Seems like the old rules, and the way it's played in the past moved on now."

"Maybe, but we can move forward with it." Akihiko reassured him.

"Alright, while we wait we should come up with our strategies so we know what we're going to be creating." Mitsuru stated calmly getting everyone's attention.

"Let's have Aigis-chan get her cards made first." Junpei suggested with a grin, "She's the best of us with the Personas so she should get her's made first."

"Very well." Aigis nodded walking to the machine and looking to see how it worked.

Ulrich362: And we'll end things off there for now... next up we'll be revealing the decks of the Shadow Operatives right Bopdog?

bopdog111: Yeah. Unlike the Investigation Team it'll take time to determined what kind of Decks, or designs there own Decks would have.

Ulrich362: True, though just like the Investigation Team they'll be using customized decks.

bopdog111: And since they don't have the Tier 3 Personas, and Duel Monsters was more Ritual based there Ultimate Personas will be Ritual themed.

Ulrich362: Exactly, see you in the next chapter. Now then, what's the trivia of this chapter Bopdog?

bopdog111: This bout of Trivia for this chapter is...

Trivia: When bopdog, and Ulrich created Sacred Shadows, bopdog had less knowledge on Persona 4 as he was more familiar with Persona 3, and 5.

Ulrich362: Interesting. Be sure to review.
