Chapter Title: Terra Galactica

Prompt: plant

Chapter Summary: Seeing strange new worlds is a side effect of entering the thing known as the Oldest House.

Wilderness is a rare thing to come across, inside the doors of the FBC. Emptiness, sure, vast expanses where the utter absence of any human was as much part of the landscape as Hiss popping up were an annoyance, certainly. But plant life in any great number and variety? No, the sun is too distant a memory for that.

Jesse probably would have cracked if she wasn't employed as janitors assistant, watering and talking to plants for Ahti. And Polaris, of course. But Polaris was Polaris. As much her as breathing.

When the House is cleared, she's going out into Central Park for at least an hour. Maybe a full afternoon, from eleven till eight, pack a bag with food and make a picnic of it. Breathe in the green and sunlight. Watch people in their rooms, with their posters safely tacked to the wall.

But she knows she'll always be drawn back here, to the mystery, the impossibility that is the Oldest House.
