I do not own Glee or any of the characters created by Ryan Murphy. If I did, we would see way more of Shelby. This story will contain spanking of a teenager. If that's not your thing stop reading now and go read something else.

Chapter 33
Taking a deep breath Rachel took her mother's hand as they pushed open the door to LeRoy's hospital room. Seeing her fathers already sitting at the table in the corner Rachel slowly moved forward pulling Shelby with her while Sue followed behind.
"Daddies?"
"Come sit down, Princess," LeRoy patted the chair next to him and Rachel slowly released Shelby's hand and sat down on the offered chair.
"Have you made a decision," Shelby finally asked after several minutes of quiet.
"We have," Hiram sighed and opened a large manila envelope on the table. "We heard what you said yesterday, Rachel. We understand that what we proposed was very painful and made you feel as if we didn't want you. Like your life was a lie."
Rachel nodded, "So does this mean that you're changing your minds?"
Hiram and LeRoy looked at each other and then to Shelby and Sue before turning their attention back to Rachel. "We talked a lot after you left, Rachel, and we agreed that what we are about to do is for the best."
"So you've come to your senses?" Shelby stepped forward and put her hands on her daughter's shoulders. "I'm hoping that the papers in that envelope are here to be destroyed."
Pulling the papers from the envelope Hiram placed them on the table in front of Rachel. "We've signed these already, Rachel. All they need now is your mother's signature."
"What are they?" Rachel's quiet whisper brought Shelby to the empty chair next to the girl. Passing the papers to her mother without looking at them Rachel watched Shelby's face for a clue.
As her mother looked through the papers quietly Rachel started when Shelby's left hand extended across the table palm up, "Pen." LeRoy produced a pen from seemingly thin air and Rachel watched as her mother signed the papers in front of her. Looking up from the last page she had signed Shelby's face was stone, "Rachel, I think your dads need to tell you what I just signed."
Holding back tears Rachel shook her head, "I know what you signed. "They gave me away. Like I was nothing to them." Squeezing her mother's hand tightly Rachel looked at her fathers and stood. Quickly moving before she lost her nerve Rachel kissed each man on the check once and gave them a long hug. "I love you both, but you will not be forgiven."
The tears flowed freely then and Rachel leaned against her mother as they turned to leave the room. Turning back one final time Rachel looked through her own tears as her fathers cried as well, "Good-bye, Dad, Daddy." And with that she allowed Shelby to lead her from the room.
Hearing the door close LeRoy and Hiram looked towards the door and were startled to see Sue standing close to the table. "Well, gentlemen, and I use that term loosely." Sue began. "You managed with that stack of paperwork to destroy a teenage girl, and hurt her mother beyond belief. Shelby above all people knows what you just did and though you never gave her a choice, you had one. You, gentlemen, are cowards, and never deserved Rachel.
"Yes she's a pain in the ass at times what with all her Broadway aspirations and though I hate to admit it, natural talent, I have come to care for that girl deeply. What you did to her was the easy way out for you. I pity you both walking away from such a great kid."
Not giving the men time to respond Sue followed Shelby and Rachel through the door hoping that Rachel wouldn't do anything too stupid as she began to heal from her fathers' rejection; after all there were only so many people afraid enough of Sue Sylvester to keep Rachel in the country or out of jail for so long.

Shelby watched as Rachel slowly climbed the stairs to her room. Putting her arm around Sue's waist as the taller woman entered the house Shelby was thankful for the blonde's support. The flight home had been uneventful and Rachel had been quieter than Shelby had ever known her to be and she was waiting for the fall out of what had happened to show itself. Shelby only hoped the fall out wasn't going to cause her daughter irreparable harm.
"Shelby?" Sue's voice was quiet and the brunette looked up into the blonde's face.
"I was just thinking," she sighed and allowed herself to be led to the coach. Kicking off her shoes she let them stay where they landed and curled up into Sue as they sat on the couch. "I know I should unpack and get laundry going, but I don't want to move."
"Then don't." Sue directed. "Just sit here with me for a little bit. Decompress and then go check on your mini-you while I order us take out for dinner."
"Thanks." Shelby turned and accepted the gentle kiss from the blonde. Opening her eyes Shelby looked at the clock. She had slept for about forty-five minutes and was surprised to hear talking coming from the kitchen.
Sitting up, she removed the lightweight throw that Sue had thrown over her and listened as the voices got louder. "I'm telling you, Yentel, that the best way to do this is to not over think it."
"Come on, Coach," Rachel huffed. "If I do this, he's going to know it's me."
"That man wouldn't know his own mother was calling him without visual aids. Go for it."
Hearing a sigh, Shelby stood and padded towards the kitchen. Stopping in the doorframe she leaned against it and watched as Rachel picked up an unfamiliar cell phone and dialed. "Yes, Principal Figgens," she began in a thick New York accent.
Shelby's eyes opened wide as Rachel finished the call and received a high five from Sue. "I knew you could do it, EJ. How long did it take him before he realized there was no such thing as an underwear inspector?"
"He never did," Rachel snorted. "When I hung up, he was going through the rest of his boxers to make sure they met code."
"Just what are you teaching my daughter, Sue Sylvester?" Shelby asked smirking when Rachel and Sue jumped a bit as she made herself known.
"I am teaching her the wonders of using a burn phone and how to properly make prank phone calls to the best of her ability."
"Wonderful," Shelby shook her head slightly and accepted the light kiss from Sue. "And here I thought you might be teaching her things that are actually useful. Like how to make that killer omelet."
Hugging her mother, Rachel shook her head. "Please, Mama, Coach can teach me that any day. Besides you never know when you might need to distract your enemy or competition with something you can do using a burn phone."
"You have learned well, young one." Sue tossed Rachel the phone in her hand. "Your choice, EJ, who are we going to call now?"
Looking at the phone in her hand, Rachel finally looked up at Sue, "It's time, Coach. I'm ready."
"Are you sure?" Sue took the phone back and began to dial slowly. "I mean totally sure?"
Rachel slowly nodded, "I am. I am ready to apply all you have taught me. Press that last button and hand me the phone."
Shelby watched in fascination as Sue nodded and pressed the last button before handing the phone to Rachel. Holding the phone to her ear Rachel waited and then took a deep breath. A wonderful British accent suddenly escaped her mouth and Shelby took a double take as she heard her daughter, "Yes, may I please speak to William Schuester? Yes, yes, my name is Iona Burnly and I represent the firm of Wales, Wales, and Tudor. Yes, well, I've called to inform you that…"
Shelby shook her head as Sue gave Rachel the thumbs up. Listening with rapt attention Shelby took the phone the moment Rachel hung up. "Really, Rachel? You let the man think that he has now been implicated in fraudulent activities while flying through Heathrow last year?"
"Of course she did, weren't you listening, Ethel?" Sue moved forward and took the phone from Shelby's hand. "Absolutely brilliant, EJ. Adding that part about the custom official now being held by MI-5 was a stroke of genius."
"Thank you." Rachel smiled at the Cheerio coach briefly before turning to her mother. "Now, if you'll both excuse me, I am going to head to my room and unpack. I may even do some rearranging or perhaps some spring cleaning."
Watching as Rachel headed towards her room Shelby finally began to laugh when Sue laid the burn phone on the counter in a kitchen towel and then proceeded to hit it with the rolling pin. "Sue?"
"You can never be too careful, Shelby." The tall blonde then emptied the now smashed phone into three different plastic bags. "There, all done." Placing the bags into a larger trash bag, Sue moved from the counter and walked towards her girlfriend. Pulling the shorter brunette into her arms Sue kissed Shelby gently. "The kid needed to get her mind off things, Shelbs. I think it worked well."
"Thank you, Sue." Shelby kissed Sue and then smiled up at her. "Want to help me unpack?"
Noticing the glint in Shelby's eye Sue nodded. "I'd love to help you unpack." She replied taking the singer's hand and walking with her up the stairs.
