I do not own Glee or any of the characters created by Ryan Murphy. If I did, we would see way more of Shelby. This story will contain spanking of a teenager. If that's not your thing stop reading now and go read something else.

Chapter 34
Glaring at Will Schuester it took all of Rachel's resolve not to beat the man to death with his own arm. "Are you serious?" Rachel stood and turned to face her fellow members of glee before facing the teacher again. "You want us to sing that playlist for the spring program? Do we look like the cast of Jersey Boys to you?"
"I hardly think asking you to sing a few songs like Big Girls Don't Cry is going to make you a member of the Four Seasons." The man responded.
"Yeah, Berry, it could be fun." Mercedes commented.
Turning to her fellow diva Rachel narrowed her eyes, "Please do not call me that anymore, Mercedes. My last name is now Corcoran, something everyone here needs to remember. Rachel Berry doesn't exist, she never did!"
"Oh-kay then," Kurt just shrugged as Mercedes looked at him.
"Rachel, we are all aware of your name change," Will began. "It's just that it only happened in the past two days. We're going to need time to remember."
Huffing and crossing her arms over her chest Rachel nodded curtly, "Fine, but I don't want to hear it much longer or I might do something ugly."
"And what are you going to do?" Santana asked. "Sing off key?"
Smiling at Santana Rachel shook her head, "You don't remember the things we learned from coach?"
Shaking her head slowly Santana's face finally broke out into a smile, "Just tell me what I can do to help."
"I will let you know," Rachel replied as others in the room were silent.
Mercedes finally broke the quiet, "Just make sure whatever you do, that your moms is not going to find out, Corcoran. I mean getting anything past her is like trying to rob Fort Knox."
"Yeah," Puck agreed. "That woman is my idol."
Shaking her head at Puck's statement Rachel sat down. "Don't worry, my mother will never find out."
"Yeah, heard that one before," Santana quipped.
"Alright," Will addressed the students again. "Does anyone else have any objections to the set list?" He could only groan as almost every hand in the room was raised.

"Rachel, in my office please."
Rachel groaned as she slowly obeyed her mother's call. She was pretty sure she knew what Shelby wanted to talk to her about and she figured nothing good would come of the conversation.
"Yes?" Rachel asked with all the attitude she could muster. She knew that her mother had been pretty lenient with her since they'd returned from the visit to her fathers. She figured it wouldn't last forever but she may as well take advantage of it while she could.
"Sit down, Rachel." Rachel rolled her eyes and threw herself into the chair in front of her mother's desk.
"Care to tell me what this is about?" Rachel asked losing just a small bit of the attitude when Shelby stood and walked to the front of the desk. Watching as her mother leaned against the desk Rachel gulped and decided now might be a good time to dial it back a notch. "I mean, what did you need, Mama?"
"Better." Shelby stated. "I wanted to talk to you about the phone call I just got from Coach Beastie."
Rachel shrugged her shoulders and huffed. No sense in ratting herself out first thing, "Oh, what did she want?"
"She wanted to know why my daughter felt that it was okay to not only enter the boys' locker room, but to also put heat cream and itching powder in two of her star player's jock straps."
"And why did she feel I was the one responsible?" Rachel asked coolly.
"Apparently Sue isn't the only one with access to the cameras in the school."
"Damn it." Rachel muttered. "Santana told me that camera would be off…" Rachel's eyes moved in her mother's direction when she heard Shelby clear her throat. "Did I say that out loud?"
"You did," Shelby confirmed.
"Motherfu…."
"Do not finish that thought, Rachel Barbra Berry." Shelby instructed as she moved around her desk to sit back down. "You are in enough trouble. Now care to tell me why you did such a childish thing to those players?"
Sitting up straighter Rachel crossed her arms across her chest and glared at her mother. She stayed like that for a few moments until she noted Shelby's eyebrow raise and decided she had better answer. Taking a deep breath Rachel finally spoke. "Perhaps if Coach Beastie had looked at the hallway camera outside of the glee room she would understand my hostility towards to star players."
"That's not an answer, Rachel."
"It is," Rachel huffed once more. "Those Neanderthals wouldn't let me pass by them in the hallway."
"I still don't understand…"
Rachel rolled her eyes and sighed heavily, "If you would allow me to continue, Mother, you might understand better."
Ignoring the attitude Shelby nodded, "By all means then, I won't interrupt until you are finished."
"Thank you," Rachel answered. "As I was saying, neither of them would let me pass in the hallway, though I asked them nicely. Instead they said something about the length of my skirt, the size of my breasts, and asked a rather lewd question since they've noticed I'm hanging out with Santana more." Seeing the look on her mother's face Rachel pushed on. "At about that time Santana showed up and kneed them in the family jewels for me and we were able to leave. After telling her what had happened I decided they needed a reminder that I would not put up with such behavior."
"And how did you manage to sneak in to the locker room?"
"You're the one who let Coach have Santana and me every Saturday." Rachel quipped with a smile. "She has taught me much."
Taking her own breath Shelby nodded, "That may be but why did you decide to take matters into your own hands, Rachel? Why not tell me, or even Sue what was going on with those boys?"
"Because I wanted them to know that I can handle it myself. I am not going to let them bully me simply because I am a girl and they are non-thinking, testosterone monsters on feet."
"And you never thought of telling Coach Beastie?" Shelby asked.
"Why would I?" Rachel shrugged. "Nobody would have believed me because I'm in glee club. I mean I'm sure that Coach Sylvester has it on tape, but why should I need it to prove what they did? Why can't I just be believed?"
Leaning back in her chair Shelby was quiet for a few moments. Rachel finally noticed her mother nod and slowly let out the breath she was holding. "Alright, I can see your point. However, I cannot let this behavior go either."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, Rachel, that the next time something like this happens, you walk away. You tell me, or Sue, anyone that might be able to handle it. I do not want you in trouble at school for things that can be handled by others."
"Okay," Rachel agreed reluctantly. "What else?"
"I think that you need an early bedtime tonight, Rachel." Shelby proposed. "And no movie night tonight."
"But Mama, we were going to have a Barbra marathon!" Rachel protested. "Starting with Funny Girl then moving on to Hello, Dolly! And finishing up with The Way We Were."
"I'm sorry, Rachel, but the movie night is canceled." Looking at the clock on her desk Shelby spoke once more. "Now, time for you to go and get ready for bed. It's almost your new bedtime."
"It's not even eight!" Rachel protested. "And it's a Friday, are you out of your mind?"
Rachel gulped at the look on her mother's face, "I mean, yes, Mama, I'm going." Rachel stood and practically ran from the room before Shelby could move from her chair.
Hearing the doorbell Shelby sighed. "What now?" She muttered as she moved to the door. Checking to see who it was, Shelby smiled and opened the door. "Billie Jean what are you doing here?"
Bending to give Shelby a kiss Sue held up a flash drive as the kiss broke, "We need to talk about E.J., Ethel."
"Is this about the football players and Coach Beiste?" Shelby asked.
"She told you?" Sue asked kicking off her shoes and shrugging off her coat; throwing both items into the hall closet before taking Shelby by the hand.
"She did," Shelby confirmed.
Leading Shelby back into her office Sue frowned. "What exactly did Rachel tell you, Shelby?"
"About the football players not letting her pass in the hallway, how Santana was with her…" Shelby trailed off when she saw the look on Sue's face. "Why do I get the feeling that little Miss Rachel didn't tell me everything?"
Waiting for Sue to sit down in her office chair, Shelby sat on the taller woman's lap as Sue inserted the flash drive into the computer. "Watch and learn, Ethel." Sue commented hating to give Rachel up to her mother but knowing she really had no choice since she was now part of Rachel's life and had to step up and be the parent Rachel deserved even if it meant hiding the pride she felt knowing Santana and Rachel used the skills she'd taught them in order to do what they had to the football players.
