Helicarrier lab (Toni POV)
"Ah phase 2 so that's what Fury needed the infinity stone for." Jarvis finally cracked the files and what I found was a gold mine. Weapon powered by the cube would never work but it's the thought that counts, not that there was much thought actually put into these designs.
"What are you doing Ms Stark?" Fury says walking in.
"Just going through some secret files. What you want a peek?" I reply with a smile.
"Toni what have I told you about secret files. There supposed to be a secret." Rhodey says getting up to stand next to me.
"Your supposed to be looking for the Tesseract." Fury bites out.
"The tracking algorithm is locked and we'll know where the cube is within a half a mile." Banner cuts in.
"Ya my sidekicks and I have that in hand. Now Fury you didn't tell me you were going into the weapons business. Am I going to have some competition?" I say turning the screen to show the missile design.
Before he can come up with an answer Rogers comes in and drops a Sci-fi rifle on the table. "So shield is using the cube to make weapons I guess the world hasn't changed that much." Cap says leveling a bland look.
Then Natasha and Thor came in which got Banners attention "did you know about this?" Bruce asks Nat.
"Do you want to think about removing your self doctor." Oh she sounds frosty.
"I was in Calcutta I was very removed. What I to know why shield is using the Tesseract to make weapons of mass destruction." Bruce says turning the conversation back to the main topic.
"Because of him." Fury says pointing at Thor.
"Me." Was the idiots only reply.
"Last year earth had a visitor from another planet that had a grudge match that leveled a small town. We learned not only are we not alone but we are severely out gunned." Seeing this turning south I lean over to Rhodey.
"Go and grab the suits this is going to get worse before it gets better." He just nodes and sneaks out the side door.
Not really paying attention I pull out my phone while everyone starts to argue opening my game section I start a game of Tetris. I didn't get very far before Rogers hits my phone out of my hand.
"I'm sorry are we not important enough for you." He says now glaring at me.
"Do that again and I will hit you so hard you'll be back in the 1940s." I growl out nobody hits shit out of my hand.
Ya what a this isn't a team it's a time bomb just waiting to go off." Brice cuts the various arguments off.
"You need to step away." Fury tells Banner
"What's wrong Fury, afraid he will let off some steam." I joke.
"You know exactly why that's a bad idea so back off." Cap says pushing my shoulder a little.
"Touch me again and there won't be enough of you left to fill a coffee cup." I hiss
"You think your so much better than us don't you, rich woman without a care in the world stepping over anyone who has less in there bank account." Rogers is practically spitting at me. "Without your money you would be nothing."
"Well Captain America your a self righteous prick who's only special because a cocktail of drugs made you less of a worthless waste of space." I say with venom dripping from my voice. "Your just a war propaganda side show."
Rogers looked ready to blow. "Put the suit on and let's go a few rounds." Right as he said that Rhodey came back in presumably leaving the two sets of armor in the hall.
"You people are so petty and tiny." Thor says with that Asgardian arrogance.
"Agent Romanoff please escort Dr Banner to-"Fury ordered but got cut off by said doctor.
"Where? You rented my room." Banner's voice was starting to sound unhinged.
"I mean it's more of a fish bowl than a room." I say not really thinking.
Fury glares at me then goes on. "The cell was just Inca-"
"You needed to kill me, but you can't. I tried." Bruce says making all of us look at him. "I got low, I didn't see an end so I put a bullet in my mouth and the other guy spit it out." Wow that got dark. "So I moved, focused on helping other people I was good. Until you dragged me into this freak show." I see him grab the scepter then go on. "You want to know my secret agent Romanoff. You want to know how I stay calm."
Natasha and Fury both reach for there guns. "Doctor Banner put down the scepter." Cap says in a calming voice.
All Bruce did was look confused at his own actions but before anyone can do anything the tracker goes off. "Sorry kids you don't get to see my party trick." He puts the staff down and goes over to the computer.
Then everyone starts to argue about who is going to get the cube so now would be a good time to ad a helpful fact. "I'll get it don't forget I'm one of only three people present who can fly." I state the obvious.
"Your not going alone." Cap says missing what I just said.
"I'm not going alone you idiot I'm taking Rhodey with me." Man he does not pay attention.
BOOM!!!
Holy shit were under attack!
"Put on the suit." Cap blurts out.
"No shit! Rhodey ready up we're goin hunting." I run into the hallway and see both the Iron Queen and War machine around the corner so close that I slam into my armor and bounce off.
Picking my self up I glare at Rhodey. "To close to the door Rhodey." I grumble.
Helicarrierturbine 15 minutes later (Toni POV)
"Ok last of the debris I'm going to give this a push. pull the lever so I don't die a horrible death." I told Rogers.
I was currently fixing the world's most impractical flying base to ever exist. Rhodey was holding off the enemy fighters so Cap can help me fix the turbine which looked like a pile of scrap metal.
"Ok just tell me when." I hear him over the com. All I need to do keep pushing and there!
"Ok pull now!" Why is the speed staying the same. "I said now Cap!" Ok starting to lose my lead on the turbine. "Pull the fucking lever!" This is going to hurt.
"SHIT! Clank SHIT! Clank SHIT! Slam FUCK!" This felt like being in a food processor.
"Sorry Stark one of the bad guys snuck around and pined me down." I hear Cap say in an apologetic tone as this hunk of metal slows down long enough for me to slip out and badly fly to an opening.
Crashing into the floor and some unfortunate dude in my way I look up and see Rogers offering a hand. Taking it and standing I look around and see we are no longer falling.
"Agent Coulson is down." Came a somber Fury.
"Sending a medical team to your location." The dispatch said.
"There here they called it." Fury sounded bad.
"Wait who? Was I supposed to know who that was?" I really didn't know who this Coulson was.
Helicarrier bridge 10 minutes later (Toni POV)
"I wonder what I can have for dinner?" This was important because I missed lunch. We were sitting at the meeting table with Fury looking at us I guess Coulson was friends with him and Cap. Rhodey was helping some agents with cleanup Nat was watching over Barton, Thor apparently got dropped a few miles and Bruce was who knows where.
"Thai sounds good but so does Greek man I would kill for some lamb."
"These were in Phil Coulson's jacket." Fury says holding some cards. "I guess he never did get you to sign them." He throws the cards on the table.
"Is that blood? That is so unsanitary." That was something I miss about being a goddess I didn't have to worry about bacteria and viruses.
"We are dead in the air up here." Fury continued. "Our communications, the location of the cube, Banner, Thor... I got nothin for you. I lost my one good eye." Man was he laying it on thick. "Maybe I had that coming."
"Wait... don't I own a restaurant in Japan? I'll have to ask Pepper if I do." I have bought a lot of stuff only to immediately forget I have it.
"Yes we were going to build an arsenal with the Tesseract." Fury says as he began to walk around the table. "But I never put all my chips on that number though because I was playing something even riskier."
"There was an idea, Stark knows this." Oh ya Fury's superhero idol group. "Called the Avengers initiative the idea was to bring together a group of remarkable people to see if they could become something more. See if they could come together when we needed them to, to fight the battles we never could." Fury let's out with a tired sigh.
"I think I also own a company that manages idol groups in japan." What the hell was I doing in Japan. Well whatever it was I spent a crap load of money there.
"Phil Coulson died still believing in that idea, in heroes." Again Fury mentions Coulson, and again who is that?
Well now was as good a time as any to leave I still need to fix the suit and go pickup the new model I told Jarvis to fabricate. Standing up I walk out and head to the lab to make the suit flightworthy. But first I should visit Natasha and see if she's all right.
Making my way down to the detention area with the help of a cardboard sign that had directions I finally see Natasha sitting on a cot with Barton. Deciding not to wait I go in. "Guard open the cell or I'll have you shipped off to a base in Alaska!" I definitely couldn't do that but he didn't need to know that.
After the guard finished opening the cell I walk in and both Nat and Barton look up at me. "Hay Nat I wanted to make sure your not dead." She smiles at me.
"Not dead but definitely not good Toni, but I want you to meet Agent Clint Barton my friend in shield." Nat says gesturing over to the man sitting next to her.
"Oh so this is the Toni you were talking about, you did forget to mention it was Toni Stark." He says extending a hand to shake, I take it with a smirk.
"Good to know Nat had friends before me. I was worried she was an antisocial loaner before Rhodey, Pepper and I got to her." I say to which he chuckles.
"Well a friend of Natasha's is a friend to me." Clint says with a smile.
Before we could continue Rhodey and Rogers walks in. "We need to find out where Loki went. Anyone got any ideas?" Rogers says.
"Well let's put everything we know about him and come up with an answer." Nat helpfully states.
"He's psychotic." Clint throws in first.
"He has lots of family issues." Natasha adds.
"He's obviously looking for attention." Rhodey says.
"Your right that stunt in Germany was nothing but attention seeking." Cap says.
"So all together he is crazy, has daddy/brother issues and wants as much attention as he can get." I put forward. "So we're looking for a place that will get him the most attent- oh that son of a bitch better not touch my stuff!" I say rushing out of the cell.
Everyone follows me as I go to the lab and pull out my phone bring up the security cam for the penthouse of Stark tower. The first thing I see is Loki lounging on my couch drinking some very expensive scotch.
"Ok we know where he is now if you got a suit... suit up were bringing the fight to him." Cap says walking out of the room followed by Nat and Clint.
"Honey bear call the pentagon tell them there is a army headed for us and we need tanks, jets, gunships, hell a damn cavalry unit then call NYPD have them evacuate everyone within a 20 mile radius of my tower." I say while I fix my armor.
"Got it Toni. What are you gonna do?" He says already on his phone.
"The Mark 7 armor is being fabricated in the tower but I need to get to it first. Let's hope Loki likes to gloat more than he wants us dead." I know Asgardians they love to gloat when they assume they'd won.
"That's a terrible idea, but I guess those are the only ideas we have left."
New York City 1 hour later (Toni POV)
Flying to the tower I can see an aircraft-carrier coming in, fighter jets already circling the area, a few men setting up anti-air battery's on some of the roofs and a lot of infantry and snipers setting up in various building's knocking out windows.
"Say what you want about the army they move fast." The police already evacuated most of the buildings in the area but I can see some civilians still being escorted out.
Opening a call to Rhodey I hear him barking orders before he addresses me. "Toni we're still setting up. But we do have a eleven mile perimeter set up so far."
"How did you get so many troops deployed in an hour?" I couldn't help but wonder.
"Toni there are five military bases in New York alone and 5,500 National Guard soldiers. The bitch was getting all of them to mobilize." He says. "But throwing our names around definitely helped."
Looking at the tower I see the portal device and Selvig working on it. "Rhodey I'm going in, tell everyone to hold fire until the portal opens." Then a thought comes to me. "Did Loki not do anything while you guys set up?"
"He either didn't care or felt it didn't matter." Rhodey replies.
Well that was stupid clearly Loki has never lead soldiers into battle. What was Odin teaching his heirs I learned to lead the army's of Asgard before I even came of age. I decided to try and stop the device and confront Selvig but Jarvis cut in first.
"Mam the power has been cut but the device is already self sustaining." Shit that's not good.
"Dr Selvig stop this before it gets ugly." I yell flying in front of the device.
"It's to late! she can't stop now." He definitely sounds crazy. "She wants to show us something! A new universe." Yup not good.
"Ya how about no." I fire a blast but the energy just exploded outward. Readjusting my self I see Loki just smiling at me.
"Jarvis get the Mark 7 ready to deploy." I say while I land and let the armor get taken off me.
"Mam the Mark 7 is not ready yet." Jarvis informs me.
"Then cut the neon lights and hurry up." I tell him grabbing my sword off the armor and begin to walk in. Loki sees me and goes in the other way.
Walking in I know the cuffs to control Mark 7 are behind the bar so I just need them before anything else. Loki begins the conversation.
"That is a fine sword but what is the Midgardian merchant of death doing with such an archaic weapon?" Loki says walking over to me.
Slowly walking over to the bar I put the sword on the counter and grab a bottle of scotch and pour a glass. "Well aren't you chipper for a man that's about to be hit with a shit storm." I say putting the glass down.
"Oh resorting to vulgarity, there is nothing you can do the Chitauri are coming and they will take the earth." He says walking to the window.
With his attention off me I slip on the cuffs and grab my glass downing a good portion of liquor. "Let me tell you some of the mistakes you made." Finished drinking I grab my sword.
"One you didn't kill any of us in your first attack, taking out one of us would have been good." I was in front of him now.
"Two you let your enemies surrounded you, the army outside has had time to prepare." I leaned the blade on my shoulder.
"And three you assume you have already won. A battle or war is not over till your enemies are in pieces." I was smiling at him now.
"I don't need any of your infuriating lessons on war I was born before your family line came to be." Loki says through his anger. "The so called hero's of earth will fall and you will help me." Before I can react he taps me on the chest with the scepter but it does nothing except make a clank sound.
He goes to tap me again but I deflect the scepter with my sword and make some distance. "Wow the one trick you have and you can't even do that right." I chuckle at him.
He fires a beam of energy at me but I dodge and it hits a window shattering the glass. "Jarvis deploy!" I shout only for the suit to sail out the window. "Overshot Jarvis!" I drop my sword and jump out after my armor.
When I reach it the scanner detects the wrist cuffs and it starts to wrap around me when the HUD comes online I'm way to close to the ground. Flying into a curve I go back up to the top of the tower and see Loki looking at me. "Oh and number four don't let your enemy stall for time." With that said I blast him before he can raise the scepter again.
A beam of energy shoots into the sky grabbing my attention and the portal opens. At first nothing comes out then like a bee hive hundreds of Chitauri fly down. I fly up to intercept firing missiles and beams killing a few but they just kept coming when they got lower is when all hell broke loose. AA guns and 50 cal machine guns lit up the sky with bullets tearing the Chitauri apart but there was so many some of them made it down. Rhodey came up opening fire as well flying back to back we start to kick ass.
"One of the spotters said you fell out of the window." Rhodey says over the com. "Falling implies it was an accident I jumped." I say back.
"Let's lead them around we'll pick them off in the city." War machine and Iron Queen fly out weaving through the buildings taking out any who follow.
"Toni on your 3 heading northeast." Natasha called on the com.
"What the hell took you so long." I blurt out. "Swing up Park Rhodey and I are going to lay them out for you."
About ten minutes into fighting a massive space worm comes out of the portal dropping soldiers into and onto the buildings. Some of the air force jets try to take the worm out but the armor is to thick. "Focus fire on the ground troops leave the big ones to us." Rhodey orders our side.
"Stark. Banner just showed up." Cap says. "Good tell him to suit up I'm bringing the party to you." I replied.
"Toni that's the opposite of a party." Nat says seeing the space worm following me.
Right as I fly by Banner hulks our and smashes the worm, Rhodey and I land next to everyone. Seeing the destruction around us was bad but the army was definitely helping and the Air Force was chasing down the small crafts above the buildings but we were losing ground.
"Ok here's the plan Stark and Rhodes you keep fighting in the perimeter that the army set up. If it gets to far turn it around or turn it to ash." Rogers orders. " Clint I want you up top calling out attack patterns and enemy positions." Clint just nods. "Thor I need you to try and bottleneck that portal light the bastards up." Thor starts to spin my hammer. "Romanoff you and me will keep the fighting here." Nat just nods. "And hulk... Smash." Hulk grins at that.
"Clint there is a snipers nest on the building over there need a lift?" I say to Barton. "Definitely." Was all he said.
After a half hour of fighting and flying into a space worm to kill it from the inside I get a call from Fury. "Stark there is a missile heading straight for the city." He yells.
"That's just fantastic Fury how long do we got?" I said blasting more Chitauri away from me.
"Two minutes and thirty seconds." Great just what we needed a mushroom cloud over Manhattan.
"Jarvis all power to thrusters!" I shoot out of the city to the missile.
Then Nat speaks up "anyone copy I can close the portal." She sounded frantic.
"Do it!" Cap replied.
"Don't do it Nat I've got a nuke incoming and need a place to put it." I interrupt.
"That's a one way trip Stark." Rogers says in a tone of finality.
"Don't remind me." I grumble back
Grabbing the nuke from the bottom I tilt it up toward the portal everyone started to thank me like I was already dead. Going through the portal I see the command ship in all its glory right before it gets blown to hell. The only thought in my head was how beautiful space was. The only thing I miss about Asgard was the perfect view of the stars at night from my balcony of the palace. Then I black out.
ROAR!
"Holy shit what happened!?" I yell coming to. looking up I see Thor, Hulk and Cap are standing around me. "Please tell me nobody kissed me."
"We won." Was the only thing Cap said.
"That's great now help me up I can't move." Thor gives me a hand standing. "Now I'm going to my penthouse and taking a long shower and ordering food. Anyone want to join?"
"We still have one more thing to do." Rogers says looking at my tower.
Stark tower penthouse 15 minutes later (Toni POV)
Watching shield agents walk around I keep thinking I missed something only to come up short. Clint was giving a statement, Cap had the case with the cube, Hulk was kinda just standing off to the side and Thor had Loki in shackles.
"What is this feeling?" I just felt uneasy like there was something other than the infinity stone in the cube.
"Hay Toni you good?" Nat says walking up to me holding the scepter.
"Ya could I see the scepter for a second?" Nat just shrugged and handed it over.
I immediately knew where the feeling was coming from when Bruce and I were looking over the data on the scepter I never picked it up. Now that it was in my hand I knew exactly how it got it's power another infinity stone was here in my hand. It was bad enough earth had one but two basically was asking for an army to show up.
Luckily Thor was taking the Tesseract with him back to Asgardian it should be safe there. Shield was taking the scepter so it was somewhat better with them I just want them out of my home. But this was no coincidence two stones coming to earth. Someone is moving pieces into place.
"Toni. Toni. Toni!" I snap out of my thoughts when a hand shakes my shoulder. "Toni your spacing out." Nat says getting my attention.
"Sorry just lost in thought. here Make sure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands." I hand the scepter back and walk away. "Oh call me when your free. We definitely deserve a vacation." She smiles at me and heads for the exit.
There was a lot to think about but one thing was for sure. The earth needed an army not just a group of heroes. Someone is coming with army's to throw at us and had resources to spare.
The earth needs the general of Asgard's army, first born of Odin, goddess of death Hela and that's exactly what there going to get.
