Happy Friday Friends! Hope everyone is hanging in there despite how badly the writers want us to give up on our favorite ship. I somehow managed this sweet, flirty oneshot despite my lack of inspo. Kat, there's a crew shirt moment for you and Moo… well, you'll know what part is for you. Enjoy everyone! XO, Reddixon
When Robert walked through the front door of what he now called home, he smiled despite the mess. The open main floor was dim, but he could easily see the boxes everywhere, furniture still in bubble wrap and the smell of fresh paint hanging slightly in the air.
It was just after 5am and he was returning home after being dispatched to a 4 alarm fire that quickly grew to a 5. Despite being off for the week to move, he still felt pressure as the Battalion Chief to respond to a big call when the entire battalion was in the field.
Tiredly, with a slow gate, he climbed the stairs and headed in the direction of the master bedroom. All he wanted to do was collapse into bed with his wife.
When he reached their bedroom, Robert was surprised to see the king sized bed still unmade and empty. Heading back down the hall he reached one of the spare bedrooms and that's where he found her. Curled up onto one side of the bed, loose curls spilling over her shoulders and a navy crew neck peeking out from under the covers.
Stripping down to his boxer briefs, Robert pulled back the covers and crawled into bed. He wrapped an arm around her small waist, brushed her hair to the side and placed a light kiss in the crook of her neck.
"You're back," Andy said leaning into his embrace, her voice scratchy with sleep.
"Why are you sleeping in the guest room again?" He questioned in a low voice.
"Still can't find the box of linens for the California King…" She said with mild frustration.
"It's here somewhere." Robert mused in a soothing voice. "Maybe in the garage. I'll look later."
"Okay," Andy murmured sleepily.
"You smell good," Robert breathed as he nuzzled the side of her neck.
"Well, clean hair and a shower does wonders for a girl," Andy said jokingly. She'd been using dry shampoo for 3 days while her topknot got messier and messier. Perking up just a bit, she asked, "How was the call?"
"Turned into a 5 quickly, was hell to put out, but we got it done." Robert said with a yawn.
"And 19?" Andy inquired, gingerly.
"Your team did fine without you and everyone is tucked back in at the station." Robert said with an undeniable smile in his voice.
"I could have come in," Andy replied.
She had been burning the candle at both ends between work, getting them moved out of the old place and into the new place. Robert knew she was exhausted. It had taken his best persuasive tactics to keep her home and not also responding to the huge blaze when the text alert came through. As Captain of 19, she took her role seriously and already felt conflicted about being out for a week.
"We're in the middle of moving and you're off," Robert countered easily.
"Yeah…" Andy sighed long and deep. "Have I mentioned how much I hate moving?"
"Just a few times." He said with a chuckle. "Lucky for you, I think we'll be here a while." Robert kissed her cheek before they settled into a comfortable silence and soon they both drifted off to sleep.
Andy woke a few hours later, gingerly detangled herself from her husband's warm embrace and slipped out of bed. Robert was still fast asleep and she hoped he'd catch a few extra zzzz's if he could. No doubt the 5 alarm had taken a lot out of him on top of all the work they had both done the past few days.
Sliding her feet into nearby slippers and grabbing her cell phone from the nightstand, Andy headed downstairs. It wasn't long before a cup of freshly brewed cup of coffee was nestled in her hands as she sat at the bar making a list of all the things she'd hoped they would accomplish today. For the most part the big stuff was where it was supposed to go, well…the stuff they were keeping from the old place. There was new furniture for some spaces on order but delayed. She tried not to be annoyed thinking about it. She'd unpacked a good chunk of the kitchen items last night, but there were still so many boxes everywhere.
Between their shared items from the apartment and her childhood stuff/ dad's stuff from storage there was a fair amount to unpack and organize. After nearly an hour of list making, texting with Michelle and scrolling Instagram Andy refilled her coffee cup and headed back upstairs. On her way back up she stopped in one of the spare bedrooms that still needed to be painted. It had a few test strips of light gray's on the wall and she felt a little uncertain about the final color.
Mind still ruminating over the paint shades, she made her way back into the guest room just as Robert stirred.
"Morning," she said, leaning in for a kiss.
"Morning," he replied with a sleepy smile.
Kicking off her slippers, Andy sat on Robert's side of the bed with her legs tucked under her. "So, I've been thinking… I'm still not sure about the paint color for the other spare room." Taking a sip of her coffee. "Are you sure Icicle is better than Moonstone?"
Robert smiled in amusement, "Babe, I love that you're so into this… but does it really make that big of a difference?" He reached for her coffee mug and took a sip before adding, "They're both light gray."
Andy tilted her head slightly, "Of course it makes a difference. And what are you doing? I was drinking that."
Taking another sip of the coffee, Robert shrugged his shoulders and smiled. "You only brought up one cup."
Andy rolled her eyes slightly, "You're getting Robert germs all over my coffee cup."
Robert chuckled lightly. "What?"
Andy tried to give a stern look. "You heard me…"
Flashing his wife a naughty grin, Robert replied. "Pretty sure my Robert germs have been a lot more interesting places than your coffee cup."
"Gross." Andy countered with a nudge despite her grin.
Leaning back against the headboard, Robert said, "We really need to discuss something more important than paint colors." His eyes danced with delight.
Taking in the mischief in her husband's still slightly sleepy eyes, Andy knew something was coming. "I'm all ears…"
"You and my crew shirts." Robert raised an eyebrow for emphasis.
Andy looked down at the faded navy t-shirt with the Billings FD logo printed across the left side. It was soft and well worn in that way only an old t-shirt could be. "What? Doesn't it look good on me?" She smirked and stretched her leg out in the direction of her husband. "I think it makes my legs look great."
Unable to resist anymore, Robert placed the coffee mug on the bedside table next to him, leaned forward and pulled Andy to his lap. Her arms relaxed loosely around her husband's bare shoulders as she straddled him. Knees anchored next to Robert's thighs, she could feel his morning wood and her insides clenched in anticipation.
"Crew shirts are sacred and I don't actually remember saying you could borrow it…" Robert flirted in a low, gravelly tone.
"Oh, really," Andy flirted back, amusement thick in her voice.
"Yes, really." Robert replied with an easy smile.
She cocked an eyebrow and tilted her head to the side just slightly. "So you want it back?"
"Yeah…" Robert whispered against his wife's lips. "I think I do." His hands slid up the smooth skin of her well built thighs, underneath the hem of the crew neck and Andy's arms raised so he could pull it off.
Robert swept his nose across Andy's and pressed soft, but heated kisses on her lips. Tugging gently on her bottom lip, she opened her mouth in invitation, reveling in the passion of their embrace. A barely audible moan escaped the back of her throat as Robert took their kiss deeper. One hand tangled in Andy's hair and the other spread across the smooth skin of her lower back, he pulled her tightly against him.
It had been a long, busy couple of days and they had more work ahead of them today, but taking this moment to connect felt important. Projects, paint and unpacking could all wait. It wasn't long before her panties and his briefs joined the discarded crew shirt on the floor.
With the room bathed in the warm sunlight of Sunday morning, they laid chest to chest, eyes pinned to one another's and set a deliciously slow pace. Each thrust and retreat building pleasure between them both. Back arched, Andy felt the familiar tingle of her pending orgasm barreling towards her. Determined to bring her husband with her, she swiveled her hips upward and squeezed. Robert pulsed forward faster and harder as his own release overtook him. "Let go," he whispered against Andy's lips and she did, pleasure coursing through her.
Heartbeats slowing, silence hovered over them as they came down from their orgasmic high. "Mmmm…you know what I could really go for…" Andy breathed into the side of Robert's neck, her body haphazardly covering her husband.
"We don't have the groceries for that…" Robert said in a low voice as his hand traced slow lines up and down his wife's bare back.
"But we do, because in the midst of the crazy, your conveniently prepared wife placed an InstaCart order last night." Andy grinned and leaned up just slightly to find Robert's gaze.
"We have to paint… and so many other projects to tackle," Robert whined a bit knowing he'd give in.
Her look said she wasn't taking no for an answer. "I'm going to need sustenance first, I'm tired of take out and besides, they're called after sex waffles for a reason…" Andy added.
"Fine…" Robert relented, pretending to be annoyed.
"Ooh and I helped…" Andy added her grin widening into a full smile."The kitchen is mostly unpacked and the whipped cream is chilling in the fridge. I made it last night…"
Robert raised an eyebrow and held his wife's gaze. "Why does it feel like your plan for this morning was always to distract me from our projects?"
Andy did her best to appear innocent, but the gleam in her eye and persistent smile gave her away. "Distract you with sex… and food… I would never."
This garnered a tickle from Robert that led to both of them in full on belly laughs.
As they caught their breath, Robert hovered over his wife. He smiled thinking about how far they'd come and just how good their marriage was now. It had been work to get it here, but they had done it and things now were better than he could have imagined.
"I love you," Robert said genuinely as he brushed a thumb across Andy's cheek.
"I love you too," Andy replied back gently as she stared up at her husband. Looking up into Robert's eyes, her heart swelled. There were so many things that almost broke them apart, so many obstacles they'd faced, but somehow they'd made it through. And now, it seemed like they were exactly where they were always supposed to be.
"C'mon…" Robert said as he placed a chaste quick across her lips. "We haven't christened the shower yet and apparently I have waffles to make."
An hour or so later, they made their way down to the kitchen and got started on breakfast. Robert was putting the final touches on the waffle batter and Andy had just taken the eggs, bacon and fruit from the fridge when the doorbell rang.
"You expecting a delivery?" Robert inquired knowing Andy had all sorts of packages on the way with stuff for the house.
Confused, Andy replied back. "No…" They didn't have their ring camera installed yet, so she headed over to the door and peeked out the side window before opening it. Surprised would be an understatement. She opened the door, but before she could get any words out, Maya spoke first.
"You didn't really think we were letting you move without our help did you?" The blonde said with a grin as she took in the surprised look on her friend's face.
"You guys…" Andy said as gratitude and disbelief dueled within her. There on her doorstep stood her people. Her friends that had become family.
"We know you got movers for the big stuff, but unpacking and organizing is still a pain in the ass," Vic stated as the group started inching their way inside.
Moving out of the way as Maya, Ben, Jack and Travis made their way inside. "You guys just got off shift, you have to be exhausted." Andy looked around at the group.
"We're family. Family takes care of its own." Ben said with an easy smile. "Besides, I haven't used my power tools in a while." He added and held up the tool box and drill in his hands.
Andy gave the team a tour of the house while Robert cooked breakfast and a short while later they all sat in miscellaneous spots around the large kitchen island.
"You've been holding out on us, Sullivan." Ben said.
Already done eating, Robert was behind the large island loading the dishwasher. "What do you mean?"
"Your cooking skills, man. All that time as Probie, you never once cooked these for breakfast." Ben continued.
"Seriously," Travis piped in with surprise on his face. "It was really good."
"Yeah… I'm gonna be that annoying person who asks for whatever your secret recipe is," Maya said a bit sheepishly. Carina was definitely the better cook between them, but the waffles were equally as good if not better than her French toast.
Robert glanced over at Andy and with only his eyes asked her, "what am I supposed to say here?"
Silently, Andy shrugged back.
"What was that?" Vic inquired. From her place across the island she could see the couple was clearly doing that thing with their eyes that married people did.
Doing her best to appear casual, Andy replied. "What was what?"
Vic looked at her with an are you kidding look on her face. "You know what I'm talking about. That look."
Seeing that Vic wasn't letting it go, Robert interrupted and tried to deflect. "That was nothing… and for the waffles I put a little of this and a…"
"That was definitely a look and if I'm not mistaken a blush," Ben crossed his arms over his chest and sported a slightly amused look on his face.
"I don't blush," an expert at schooling his features, Robert fixed his facial expression.
Feeling like something was definitely up, Travis and Jack surrounded the counter. "I hate to break it to you man, but you're definitely blushing." Jack said with a slight grin.
Looking over at how uncomfortable her husband appeared to be, Andy sighed long and deep. "It's really not that big of a deal. We're married, Robert. They know we have sex. "
"Andy, seriously?" Robert's eyebrows and shoulders raised simultaneously.
"We know, but we don't want to think about it," Maya piped up.
"Can we just rewind here? How did talk about waffles turn into talk about sex?" Travis asked as he looked around with confusion written across his face.
Andy rolled her eyes, feeling annoyed at all of them. "They're called After Sex Waffles and you can find the recipe on Pinterest. Happy now?" She shrugged her shoulders and avoided Robert's gaze as the team erupted into laughter.
"You're never allowed over again," Robert said dryly, shaking his head as he watched them all try and regain their composure.
"Oh please, we've seen the fire pit and hot tub in the backyard…" Vic replied easily with a grin.
"You've officially become the party house, Sullivan." Jack chuckled.
