Shanan had decided that it was time. All these years she had only ever opened the door to the master bedroom maybe three times and one of those times was completely by accident when she was still really young and she was half asleep trying to go to the bathroom.

The room was dusty, but otherwise clean. However, it was severely outdated. Also, there was a second bathroom with two sinks and Shanan had never even known.

Shanan had decided, but she needed to talk to Kakashi about it first.

They were both eighteen now and still slept in a very small bed together, so she decided to bring it up after they had gone to bed as she knew he might be resistant to the idea, but he might change his mind when he was reminded at how cramped they were.

Also, the fact that Shanan still kept a lot of her things in her old bedroom because Kakashi had so many art supplies and books that he never put back on the living room shelf.

Kakashi was laying with his head on Shanan's chest telling her about the silly new way Naruto says his name since he had babysat that day while Shanan and Kushina Sensei went shopping.

"Just a few months ago he called me 'Shasha' and now I'm apparently called 'Kashkashi', so he's almost there. He also pointed at the word 'cat' and said 'meow', so he's gonna be reading in no time too." Naruto was truly his littlest buddy.

"Well he's just always called me Shanny. Also, can we talk about something?" she said quickly.

"Very smooth transition," he said as he sat up with his head on his hand. "What about, my love?"

He had started calling her that shortly after they'd gotten engaged a few months ago and it still made her blush.

"Yeah, so... I think we should move to the master bedroom," she said tentatively.

Kakashi sighed as he rolled to lay on his back with his arm over his face.

"We don't have to, I was just thinking about it," she told him, worried she'd upset him.

"No, I've been thinking about it, or well I've been thinking about thinking about it. I just hadn't made it there yet. But you're right, we've outgrown either of our rooms," he said.

"Yeah, it would be nice to have both of our things together in a bigger shared space. And the shower in there is nice," she said as she smirked and nudged him suggestively.

"Is it?" he asked as he laughed a little at her perviness. "I haven't been in there in so long."

"Yeah, I popped in. So we should get started on it tomorrow, I think."

"Sure. We haven't updated anywhere in so long, so it might be a fun project," he said.

"It will be. We can buy everything new."

"Yay, shopping..." he said sarcastically as Shanan pushed him and then laid her head on his chest.

The next day they got started. They cleaned it out first and then went shopping.

"I want the biggest bed we can find!" Shanan told him excitedly.

"Eh..."

"What? You don't want a ridiculously large bed?" she asked, a bit surprised.

"No... I... like cuddling," he said as though it had been obvious.

"Hey, we'll still cuddle. We don't need the space for sleeping, Kakashi," she said with an eyebrow raised.

Kakashi blushed as he rubbed the back of his head and chuckled. "Oh."

They picked out a new rug and new dressers and even a new drawing table for Kakashi. Everything would be delivered the next day, so they grabbed some food and headed to Kushina Sensei's and ran into Asuma along the way.

"Hey, you're back! I thought you were at some outpost?" Shanan asked him.

"Just back for a few days. Had to report in to the old man, then I'm going back."

"Asuma," Kakashi said a bit curtly. He still didn't like the fact that Shanan had ever had a crush on him.

"Hey, Kakashi. By the way, heard you guys are engaged now. Congrats. Where ya headed now?"

"Kushina Sensei's for dinner. Wanna join?" she asked. She hadn't seen him in a while so wanted to catch up.

"Sure, I'll tag along."

"No smoking, though. Naruto doesn't need the secondhand smoke." Kakashi told him as he grabbed Shanan's hand.

"Not a problem," he said as he took one last long puff and flicked his cigarette away.

They made it to Kushina's and Naruto ran straight to Kakashi and hugged his legs as Kakashi set his bag down and picked Naruto up.

"Oh, you brought a guest!" Kushina said as she went up to Asuma and gave him a hug.

"Long time no see, Sensei. How've ya been? How's the little guy?"

"Getting too big, too fast," she said as she laughed nervously.

Shanan picked up Kakashi's bag and they went into the kitchen.

"So you're cooking this fish, right?" she asked him.

"I'm holding Naruto," he said, trying to get out of it.

"That's fine, I'll hold him. You always get to play with him."

"Oh, alright. I know I make it better anyway," he said as he handed Naruto to her.

"Just ask Asuma if you need help," she joked.

Kakashi laughed and shook his head at her as he got started on the food.

Of course it turned out amazing. And it was nice catching up with Asuma and having some of Shanan's old squad back together. But it also made her feel bad that Kakashi would never run into Minato, Obito or Rin and be able to catch up like this.

When they got home they spent their last night in Kakashi's room.

"I was thinking about Obito and Rin today," Shanan told him.

"Yeah? What made you think about them? Running into Asuma?"

"Yeah. It made me feel kinda guilty, actually," she said sadly.

"Don't, my love. I'm happy you still have Asuma and Guy around. And I've always liked them too... even Asuma," he said as he chuckled. "Really. Cheer up. The thought didn't cross my mind tonight," he told her as he leaned in to kiss her.

They said their usual goodnights and then she held him close and ran her fingers through his hair as she sang to him for the last time in a room that had held so many happy memories for the both of them.
