Chapter 5: Unwanted Attention
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. Now I am happy to say this story is now linked up to canon. I think you'll like what I have planned and I would also like to thank masters123lfm for his idea at the beginning. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
We find ourselves in Overworld at Kiru City, in the main hall, Aivenna walks into a large room where a creature with green skin and spiky black hair sat with a female orange tiger creature stood in front of her. These were Maxxor and Intress.
"Aivenna, what is the reason for calling us over?" Intress asks.
"Maxxor, on most recent patrol of the Riverlands I encountered something that you might interest you." Aivenna said looking at him.
"I'm listening." Maxxor said.
"The Underworlder Skreeth tried to launch a sneak attack at the Riverlands but he was driven off, by a Chaotic Player." Aivenna said getting their attention.
Little did they know in the back of the room a shadowy figure with long hair was listening in.
"A Chaotic Player defeated an Underworlder? I find that a little hard to believe." Intress said.
"Humans don't have the power to fight against us creatures." Maxxor said.
"This one did. He had this unique type of battlegear that allowed him to fight him off. It looked like a sword but it was in the shape of a key." Aivenna said.
"If that kind of weapon could give a human the power to defeat an Underworlder imagine what it could do for one of us." Maxxor said interested before standing up. "Aivenna I am assigning you to investigate this mysterious weapon. If there are more of this new battlegear bring one to us, if not bring the human who wields it."
"Yes Maxxor." Aivenna bows in respect before walking out.
"I wonder how this human found this powerful battlegear?" Intress asks.
"I do as well, but if we can get this human on our side the scales could tip in our favor." Maxxor said.
As Aivenna walks through the halls she heard a figure moving in behind her.
"What are you doing now?" Aivenna asks as the figure stops down a dark hallway obscuring her face.
"Heard you found an interesting human." The figure said revealing it to be female.
"It's not human, it's the battlegear we want." Aivenna said.
"Either way I want in. It's so boring in this dumb castle I need to get out and fighting." She said.
"You really think I'm gonna drag you along?" Aivenna asks.
"Hey in case you forgot I was trained by Tangath Toborn. I can handle myself." She said pointing to herself with a claw.
"Alright just don't fall behind." As Aivenna walks away the figure grins eagerly for this.
Meanwhile, in the Underworld City, Skreeth was thrown to the floor as he looked up to see a large muscular red creature glaring down at him with a red female devil creature by his side. These were Chaor and Takinom.
"C-Chaor please have mercy." Skreeth begs.
"I give you one job Skreeth. Secure a route through the Riverlands and you come back with no route and in defeat. Why should I show you mercy?" Chaor asks.
"P-Please Chaor I ran into trouble there was Intress' student and a-a human." Skreeth stutters.
"A human?!" Chaor roars in anger. "You mean to tell me one of my Underworlders was beaten by a human?!"
Walking over Chaor grabs Skreeth by the throat and lifts him up.
"Give me one reason I shouldn't crush you right now." Chaor asks.
"H-He had a battlegear. A new one that I've never seen before!" Skreeth said getting his attention.
"What kind of battlegear?" Chaor asks interested.
"I-It was a magical sword but it was in the shape of a key. Using it he was able to help Intress' student defeat me." Skreeth said.
"A battlegear that granted a human the ability to defeat an Underworlder. Takinom!" Chaor said turning to her.
"Yes my lord?" Takinom asks.
"Send your disciple out to search for this human. She is to track him down. I want to see how strong this new battlegear really is." Chaor said.
"Yes my lord, Nievenna will not disappoint you. She is ready for this." Takinom nods in understanding.
"Good. If this battle gear and this human is powerful as it Skreeth says I'll finally defeat Maxxor, Van Bloot and all the other tribes and Rule over Perim!" Chaor declares.
Speaking of said Keyblade wielder, he was walking through a rocky trail with Miles and Erika.
"We're almost there." Miles said.
"Man who knew getting new location scans was such a trek." Roxas said.
"Hey at least you had a scan of the Crystal Cave or this would have taken much longer." Miles said.
"Besides once you get a location scan it's a million times easier." Erika said.
"Come on Roxas. You look like you've never hiked before." Miles said.
"I don't." Roxas said realizing he got everywhere by corridors of darkness.
Making their way to the top they arrive at the Rock River Canyon.
"Wow." Roxas said.
"Rock River Canyon. This location will really help any of your creatures that can do Earth Attacks." Erika said.
"I use it quite a bit with my Danians." Miles said.
Taking out his scanner, Roxas scans the location.
"Sweet." Roxas smiles.
"I'll meet you guys back at Chaotic. You better get back Roxas you got a match soon." Miles reminds.
"Oh yeah." Roxas said.
"Who's your opponent?" Erika asks as Roxas looks at his scanner.
"Uh says he goes by…MajorTom." Roxas read.
"A newbie. Funny not too long ago that's what you were." Erika giggles.
"Yeah well I had some pretty awesome help." Roxas smiles putting a hand on her shoulder.
"Oh stop." Erika said hiding a soft blush on her face.
"Hope you'll watch. I gotta go get ready." Roxas said porting back to Chaotic.
"Absolutely." Erika smiles following.
In the Crellen Drome, Roxas arrives eager to see his opponent but when he arrived he saw a teenage boy around his age with black hair, a grey shirt and boxer shorts. This was Tom Majors.
"Uh hey." Tom said.
"Hey…first time in Chaotic?" Roxas asks.
"How'd you know?" Tom asks.
"Most people wear pants when they come here." Roxas points causing Tom to cringe. "Names Roxas."
"Oh uh I'm Tom." Tom said.
"Relax Tom, I was a newbie not too long ago just take a deep breath and play the game."
"Okay." Tom said taking a deep breath.
At a table, Erika and Miles were sitting down to watch.
"Well look at him. Not too long ago I was giving him that advice." Erika smiles.
"Tom got a decent first opponent." Looking over they saw Kaz walking over. "At least my friend isn't fighting a total jerk."
"You know him Kaz?" Miles asks.
"Yeah Tom's my best friend. We go to school together." Kaz said.
"Well hopefully he plays better than he looks." Erika giggles.
"Hey how I was supposed to know he'd input his code right before he went to bed?" Kaz asks.
In the drome, Roxas looking at his deck.
'Hmm I could go with Tangath Toborn, he's been lucky for me, but I shouldn't always rely on one creature. I'll go with…him.' Roxas thought choosing Barath Beyond.
Looking over Roxas saw Tom slowly looking through his deck and picking his cards.
"Players, lock your decks."
Clicking their buttons Roxas saw Tom had picked Maxxor.
"Whoa good card." Roxas said surprised.
"No way he's got a Maxxor card?" Erika gasps.
"Those cards are crazy rare." Miles said blown away.
"Yep, like me and Chaor, Maxxor is Tom's favorite card." Kaz nods.
"MajorTom since this is your first battle you will be the attacker. Spin the location randomizer."
Looking to it Tom spun the wheel causing it to land on Glacier Plains.
"Yes." Tom grins.
"Now choose your attacking and target creature."
"Only one choice. Maxxor attacks Barath Beyond!" Tom said.
"Now comes the fun part." Roxas said.
"What?" Tom said when Roxas touches the icon and becomes Barath Beyond. "Whoa! You're Barath Beyond?!"
"Now you touch your card." Barath Beyond instructs.
Slowly Tom reached out and touched his card turning into Maxxor but when he did he let out a scream.
"Geez was I like that?" Barath Beyond cringed.
Miles and Kaz look to Erika who was giggling. "Yes, yes he was."
"What the heck is TwilightKing doing?" At a nearby table they saw a guy with blonde hair, glasses and a goatee, this was Klay. "Helping a newbie? He's throwing away an easy win."
"Oh god not this guy." Erika rolls her eyes.
"What an idiot. Who does this?" Klay asks when he was hit in the back of the head. "Ow! Hey what's the—"
Before he could finish Erika grabs him by the collar and yanks him in close.
"Listen you, no one wants to hear your opinion so why don't you just shut up and watch the match or I'll make you shut up." Erika glares before shoving Klay back into his seat and walking away.
"Whoa." Kaz and Miles said surprised as Erika sat back down and sipped her drink.
"I'll sit because I choose to." Klay mumbles.
Back in the drome, Barath Beyond and Maxxor faced off.
"You ready?" Barath Beyond asks.
"Uh…yeah." Maxxor hesitates.
"Then let's get Chaotic." Barath said as they were engulfed in a bright light.
In Glacier Plains, Maxxor was looking around in shock and awe.
"Okay it's official. I've lost my mind." Maxxor said trying to move but slips on some ice and slides down the slope and crashes face first into the snow. "Ugh that was embarrassing. Good thing no one saw that."
Unfortunately, everyone did see that.
Groaning Kaz looks at the robot. "Get me a chocolate milkshake…make it double."
Cringing Erika and Miles felt really bad for him.
As Maxxor pulled himself out of the snow he tried looking around for any sign of his opponent.
"So if I'm here what happened to that Roxas guy?" Maxxor asks.
"I'm right here!" Looking up Maxxor saw Barath Beyond leap in. "Flame Orb!"
Firing a powerful fireball it flew in and nailed Maxxor in the chest sending him crashing to other ground.
Groaning Maxxor gets up. "That kinda hurt."
"Yeah that's what these drome battles are like. You become the creature and battle against your opponent." Barath said as fire came out of his hands to emphasize his point. "Heads up!"
Screaming Maxxor ran for his life dodging Barath's fire attacks.
'Oh man this guy has like no fighting experience.' Roxas thought.
"Use your battlegear, your Mugic, something!" Kaz said gulping down his milkshake.
As Barath Beyond was looking around Maxxor hid behind some ice.
"Snowball attack!" Barath turns to see Maxxor hit him in the face with a snowball. "Ha! Gotcha!"
Holding up his hands Barath blasts Maxxor sending him crashing through the ice making him fall into an ice cave.
"Ugh." Maxxor groans when he sees Barath Beyond looking down at him.
"Dude that was sad. Come on at least try and fight back." Barath Beyond said.
"I did." Maxxor said getting up.
"No you're not. You're fighting like you would fight like a coward. Try fighting like your creature or at this rate I'm gonna code you." Barath Beyond said.
"Fight like a creature?" Maxxor said when Barath Beyond leaps across from him.
Holding out his hand a Cyclance appeared.
"Wait is that a Cyclance?" Maxxor gulps.
"Oh yeah!" Moving in Barath Beyond swings his Cyclance like Roxas would his keyblade and whacks Maxxor multiple times.
'He's right. I gotta stop fighting like Tom and try fighting like Maxxor.' Tom thought.
Swinging back Barath goes in for the big one when suddenly Maxxor grabs it with his hand surprising him.
"You wanted a fight. Well I'm gonna give you one!" Maxxor yells pushing Barath back. "Pebble Storm!" Firing multiple pebbles they flew towards Barath pelting him.
"Now you're getting it." Barath Beyond said.
"Oh I'm not done. Rock Wave!" Slamming his hands down Maxxor makes a giant rock wave hit Barath knocking him into the wall. "Best game ever."
Getting up Barath Beynd grins finally having a decent fight.
Spinning his Cyclance, he fires a bolt of lighting causing Maxxor to jump out of the way.
"If you can do it, so can I! Flame Orb!" Maxxor said firing a fireball at him.
Swinging his Cyclance, Barath Beyonds whacks it away before zapping Maxxor with a lighting attack.
"Sorry Tom lessons are over." Barath Beyond said charging in.
'My Aqua Shield won't work against that Cyclance and I can't run. Only one option left. Gotta use my Mugic.' Tom thought.
"Fortissimo! Supersize me!" Maxxor yells using his mugic.
Looking up in shock Barath Beyond saw Maxxor grow to giant size before grabbing him.
"Game over." Maxxor said throwing him against the wall causing him to code.
"Oh man, Roxas lost." Erika cringed.
"And after he did all that to help Tom." Kaz said.
"Ha! Serves him right!" Klay said standing up. "In Chaotic the only person you look out for is yourself. Helping others, what an idiot."
Back in the drome, Maxxor turns back into Tom.
"The winner, MajorTom."
"I did it. I really did it." Tom smiles before looking to Roxas who was a little down at his first loss.
Leaving the drome, Tom saw Kaz waiting for him but when he tried to get home he realized he might have a problem since his real self threw his scanner away.
As Roxas leaves he saw Erika waiting for him.
"Hey." She said.
"Hey." Roxas said.
"The first loss is always the hardest but you did awesome. Not many people would actually help their opponents." Erika said patting him on the back.
"Well I was just giving him the tips a pretty smart girl told me when I showed up." Roxas smiles.
"Oh stop." Erika smiles.
They were about to walk away when Erika saw Klay leading Tom away. "Uh oh trouble."
"Why? What's up?" Roxas asks.
"See that guy there? His name is Klay, screen Klayotic. He gives Chaotic players a bad name. If he's making a move on Tom it's not good." Erika said as Klay led Tom to the transport.
"Alright MajorTom. Sometimes when you reset your scanner it's better to launch from the transport. Gets a better signal." Klay said.
"Wow, Klay glad I ran into you. Maybe we can battle sometime." Tom said transporting away.
"I doubt it." Klay smirks.
He was about to walk away when a foot sticks out and trips him.
"Hey what's the big—" Before Klay could finish he looks up to see Roxas and Erika glaring at him. "Oh great you again. And you brought the loser with you."
"Start talking where did you send Tom?" Erika asks.
"Perim, where else?" Klay smirks.
"Where did you send him? You know where he is." Erika clarifies.
"Yeah I know where he is but I'm not telling you two and there's no way you're gonna make me." Klay mocks causing both Roxas and Erika to glare at him.
"Yeah you two are all bark and no-" Before Klay could finish Roxas pins him against the table.
"I can only hold him back for so long." Erika smirks as Roxas twists his arm.
"Where is Tom?" Roxas repeats.
"Alright! Alright! I sent him to Lake Ken-I-Po!" Klay whines as Roxas lets go.
"He better be." Roxas glares before going to the transport.
"Ugh only you could find a boy as annoying as you are. Why can't you ever mind your own business?" Klay asks looking to Erika.
"Same reason you can't find any friends." Erika smirks.
"Because I don't need any." Klay said.
"Yeah keep telling yourself that." Erika rolls her eyes.
At Lake Ken-I-Po, Tom was looking around in shock.
"Oh man where the heck am I?" Tom said when a finger taps on him on the back startling him. "Whoa!"
"Hey." Roxas waves.
"Roxas? Oh man what are you doing here?" Tom asks.
"Helping you again apparently." Roxas said.
"You've been doing that a lot today. Sorry that you had to lose." Tom said.
"Well you surprised me, guess I gotta get better." Roxas shrugs.
"So what happened? Why aren't I home?" Tom asks.
Roxas was about to answer when a pair of hands grabs him. Acting on instinct Roxas grabs the arm and flips the figure only to see his attacker was a teenage girl with long blonde hair.
This was Sarah.
"Whoa dude!" Tom said surprised.
"Oh man I am so sorry." Roxas said when Sarah covers his mouth with her hands.
"Be quiet." She shushes before yanking both Roxas and Tom into the tall grass before Roxas yanks her hands off.
"What the heck?" Roxas asks.
"Hey you flipped me first." Sarah said.
"And you tried to grab him first." Tom said.
"Listen you two, I've been out here tracking Mezzmar all night with no sleep. I've got no patience right now." Sarah glares.
"Look I'm just trying to help him." Roxas said gesturing to Tom.
"I was just trying to get home and this guy Klay said he could help me." Tom explains.
"Klay doesn't help anyone but himself. What's your name?" She asks.
"I'm Tom."
"Name's Roxas."
"I'm Sarah. Roxas I assume you've been to Perim at least once." Sarah assumes.
"Of course." Roxas nods.
"Then you should tell him that if you wanna survive stay quiet and stay outta my way." Sarah said looking to the lake.
"So why did Klay pull that move on me?" Tom asks.
"Klay's a jerk but he doesn't pick on just anyone. You must be pretty good to get his attention." Sarah said.
"Well I beat Roxas in my first battle." Tom said.
"Klay sent you to Lake Ken-I-Po so he could get rid of you. So you wouldn't be in his way." Roxas clarifies.
"Oh that sneaky little." Tom growls when they heard a noise in the water.
Looking over they saw a large green creature come out. This was Nauthilax.
"That's not Mezzmar is it?" Roxas asks.
"Try Nauthilax. He must be here on a spy mission." Sarah said sneaking over.
"What are you doing?" Tom asks.
"How else am I supposed to scan him?" Sarah asks.
"Now let's see what Mezzmar is up to." Nauthilax said walking to dry land.
Getting the right idea, Roxas held up his scanner and they both get a scan of Nauthilax.
"He might come in handy later." Roxas said.
"Whoa just like the cards." Tom said.
"Now you're getting it." Sarah said when a fireball hit nearby startling them.
Turning around they saw Nauthilax with flaming hands.
"I spy dinner." Nauthilax said.
"Guys move!" Roxas said grabbing both by the arm to run away. 'I can't get my coat on while these guys are so close. I'm too out in the open to use my keyblade.'
Nauthilax used another fire attack when suddenly a water attack flew in and stopped it.
"Slither back to where you came from Nauthilax." Looking to the water, they saw a blue creature with armor face him.
"Mezzmar." Sarah smiles.
"Riptide!" Firing a torrent of water, Mezzmar soaks Nauthilax.
"I need a better position to scan him." Sarah said as she and Tom ran off in one direction while Roxas made his way towards the lake.
Using another flame orb, Nauthilax knocks Mezzmar out of the water.
"Gotta scan him fast or he'll be too weak." Sarah said.
"But Sarah he saved us." Tom said running to help.
"Tom no!" Sarah said.
As Tom struggles to help Mezzmar, Nauthilax comes up to him unaware that Roxas was nearby.
"Where I come from no good deed goes unpunished." Nauthilax said when suddenly Roxas summons Oathkeeper.
"Thundaga." Roxas whispers as a giant bolt of lightning shot out of the tall grass zapping Nauthilax.
"Who did that?!" Nauthilax turns in that direction but saw nothing.
Suddenly a beam of light shot out knocking Nauthilax to the ground.
"Was that another creature?" Tom asks when Sarah grabs him.
"Remember what I said earlier? This is real! You get burned! You stay burned!" Sarah said.
The two of them tried to get away but Nauthilax gets up.
"Where do you think you're going?" He glares.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't my old friend Nauthilax. Not nice to drop in uninvited." Looking to the sky they saw an elderly creature with blue skin and robes drop in.
"Najarin." Nauthilax glares before firing multiple flame orbs but Najarin whacks them away with ease.
"Whoa. He reminds me of Yen Sid." Roxas said in awe.
Nauthilax fires a Riptide but Najarin blocks that as well.
"Is that all you got?" Najarin asks.
Acting quickly, Nauthilax traps Najarin in a water sphere attack.
"Just try and escape my Liquisphere!" Nauthilax taunts.
As Tom and Sarah tried to sneak away Tom saw Roxas right behind Nauthilax.
"Sarah look it's Roxas." Tom points.
"What's he doing?" Sarah asks.
"Now to finish you off." Nauthilax turns to Mezzmar when suddenly Roxas leaps in and grabs onto his back. "What the?!"
"Leave him alone!" Roxas said as Nauthilax tried to shake him off but couldn't.
In the sphere Najarin saw Roxas and pauses. "Wait a minute…this power."
Grabbing him, Nauthilax threw Roxas down next to Mezzmar.
"Time to finish you both." Nautilax said when Najarin broke free of the attack and blasts Nauthilax sending him crashing into the lake.
"Whoa Roxas. You okay man?" Tom asks.
"Ugh yeah I'm fine." Roxas groans when Mezzmar looks to him.
"That was…very brave human." Mezzmar said.
"Well I wasn't the only one." Roxas said gesturing to Tom.
"Oh stop." Tom smiles as Najarin lands nearby.
"If you please." Najarin said.
"Uh sure." Roxas said as they all stepped back.
"Forget about me Najarain. Stop the spy." Mezzmar groans.
"All he has seen this day is courage both great and small. Song of Rejuvenation, heal this fallen warrior." Najarin said casting a mugic to heal Mezzmar.
"Thank you old friend." Mezzmar said.
"Always." Najarin nods.
"And thank you, new friends." Mezzmar said looking to Tom and Roxas.
As Mezzmar leaps to dive back into the water Sarah scans him.
"Yes! I deleted Nauthilax for a fully healed Mezzmar." Sarah smiles.
"Great wonders and rewards are given to those who brave the wilds of Perim and survive." Najarin said.
"Noted." Roxas said.
"So does that mean I can scan you?" Tom asks but Najarin stops him.
"You'll have to earn that. You as well." Najarin said looking at Roxas before leaving.
"Hey you scan some you lose some. Come on I'll take help him out Roxas." Sarah said.
"Thanks Sarah. I feel like a nice Sea Salt Ice Cream." Roxas said.
"What's that?" Tom and Sarah ask interested.
"Follow me and I'll show you." Roxas smiles.
"Roxas that was the craziest thing I ever saw. I mean you tackled Nauthilax." Sarah said.
"Not even close to the craziest thing I've done. Wait until Erika hears about this." Roxas chuckles.
As they left Najarin watches Roxas leave.
"Been a long time since I saw one of you. I best keep this information to myself for the time being. Many trials await you. Let's see if you can rise to the challenge…keyblade wielder." Najarin said.
