Chapter 1
A soft grassy meadow spread beneath me, interspersed with the occasional odd flower, that was bordered by a ring of trees on all sides which formed the entire expanse into a small clearing. The occasional autumn leaf was separated from the trees by the morning breeze, left to drift lazily around the clearing as the sun's rays poked through the dense foliage of the eastern row of trees. Above me, free from the encroachment of the forest, was the sky, as clear and as beautiful as I remembered it. The scene was breathtaking, idyllic even, and for a moment allowed me to slow down to a halt to rest and take it all in.
It's hard to imagine that such a refreshing beauty is presented right in front of me even exist, I couldn't even fathom the sheer magnitude of budget required for this kind of quality, but ...I nonetheless enjoy the breathtaking view.
Every moment of relaxation brought further clarity to my mind, shaking loose to my most recent memories. With those recollections came bitterness, which shattered the tranquil atmosphere built up as I began to sort my situation.
When I came to, I was on a slanted bank, with lushly grown grass.
There was the sound of grass scraping against one another, and the scent of the plantation.
Calming my nerves and sitting down at such a place as my hand was reaching to the sun, I, "Super Alloy Darkshine", was attacked by a violent throbbing.
I wasn't sweating because of the sun's warmth, it was a cold sweat that wouldn't stop.
There was a pulsing pain in my core, and an unpleasant feeling as I sweated.
"W, what was that just now?" I murmur nervously, still worrying about potential [Master.]
Since I sat up in a panic, some of the grass that got caught on my shiny skin fell onto the ground. As the wind blew, the blades of grass drifted away.
Although I've been running for quite a while now, a good ten minutes or so, ...more or less, it has yet to quell my increasing incredulity and wariness to stranger things. Scratching off the headache, I look around with my peripheral vision for any disturbance.
So far in my encounters, the Ogres, Goblins, and other green-skin [Mysterious Beings] can be considered as a single kind of species, the likes of Minotaurs, Wild demonic beasts, etc, obviously Coexist or at least tolerate each other in some form in a worrying degree.
What I mean is...
The [Mysterious Beings] from One punch man is... what I can call unique, unlike others, outside of the Monterfication and/or artificial means. The likes of Subterranean, Sky, Sea Folks, etc, that have established a clear hierarchy of their society, is the only category I think and pin in these savage.
Now .. not all kinds of Beings are capable of coexisting into a super colony like the ants back home, they're far too different and dim-witted to play politics, can you imagine the Subterranean and Sea folks tolerating each other in the name of conquering the surface? Yeah, they'll likely tear each other apart after the campaign.
Sure there's that [Monster Association] that amass such a variety of monsters but that's because it's being anchored by the Common cause, supervised by the Cadres, and reeled by the Monster King, but even then, ...their loyalties are very questionable.
Rubbing my chin with a finger and a thumb, my forehead crest in distress at the worrying conclusion.
One: This area has a different kind of ecology that has factors I didn't consider, in which breed a society of savages that care not of racism, or mayhaps primitive and prefers a hunter and gathering society.
Two: This environment pushed them to the point they tolerate each other to reach some common grounds.
Three: They are in the same banner of some organization or entity.
And four... I time-traveled or in a parallel or another world.
From likely to unlikely, reasonable to a bull... I have my reasons and backing as to why I arrived at these conclusions but so far, evidence suggests that things are becoming... rather ridiculous. I mean goblins that are psychic, pyrokinetic, etc?
'This is getting closer and closer to your generic fantasy world.' I thought in skepticism.
I look behind me with a lopsided grin, it was a mask to hide my squeamish nervousness at the sight of battered, humanoid skeleton ...or so I suspect.
'Correction, dark fantasy and without the sugar coating of the democrats. ' I thought amusedly.
Sure, my knowledge may be incomplete due to my ...source of information. But even without them, my knowledge regarding flora and fauna leads to another evidence that this world is not what it seems.
As much as I love to have a map and
compass, I sadly lack the tools to estimate my destination. Sure I could climb up in the trees but... I don't know how to climb and what little leverage those branches offer often snap or slip from my weight.
But what I do have however is knowledge of botany.
Using my hand, I plow the dirt beneath me as I analyze it with my newfound vision. (I don't need my glasses!)
Slowly squashing the crumbling dirt, I let it fall on the hole I've plowed as I trace the bark of a nearby tree before plucking one of its branches and peeling off the needle-like leaves under my scrutinizing eyes.
By the looks of it, it seems that the tree it came from is a Coniferous tree, which means I'm in the northern hemisphere.
Hmm... mmm.. maybe there's a coast nearby? It would make sense to walk east or west and it would've confirmed my theory so I could geo-locate myself, if so then north would be the unlikely location to find this.
Hearing a soft shuffle nearby, I position myself into a crouching position with a left arm below for balance while the other is clenching into a vice grip, prepared in a throwing position.
Nervous and alarmed, the fingers beneath the soil and roots were embedded and pierced halfway through my digits.
Eyes narrow and teeth shut tight, I watch at the sight of the bush nearby quake now and then... before a snow-white rabbit hop in, that didn't dissuade my wariness, however. Unlike from earth, this one has a cylindrical horn attached to its forehead, mimicking that of a unicorn.
We both freeze at the sight of each other, him due to meeting my gaze while I halt out of instinctual action. After all, Cute white bunnies aren't known to harm humans.
That notion however was quickly thrown away as its beady eyes unnaturally glimmer crimson red under the shades of nature before launching itself in a sudden burst of speed, this prompt me to use my hand on the ground to immediately haul a handful of scrubs to launch it in its face accurately causing its eyes to close shut. This, in turn, was followed by a wild haymaker aimed under its chest.
As its horn was up and ready into the air, it's head jerk back and let out a painful wheeze. I was thankful that I'm far faster than the bunny as it almost nick my neck by a few inches.
I felt my hand cave in the soft and stretching flesh, as I struck its stomach with a devastating blow, the rabbit immediately threw up into my forearm as I flung it several meters into the air before landing into a nearby boulder head first.
As blood and puke rain down, I felt droplets of its mixture ping into my skin. The previous refreshing air was contaminated with horrendous smell and the sight of absolute demolition cause me to subconsciously step back in horror.
The stench worsened, and my guilt rose. I could feel my bile rising before I forcefully reel it in.
Horrified at the sight of the bunny's mangled body and head crack open as bits of blood and brain matter poor out, I didn't mean to go that far but the sudden danger force me to use more force than necessary.
It also didn't help that I'm still re-acquainting in this body. It's supposed to be a knockout blow, not a murder!
"T-t-that was-- H'ueek! P'fweh." I spoke too soon, as a sprinkle of abomination trickled into my mouth.
Searing the image of the corpse into my eyes, I reluctantly proceeded to walk towards it as I hastily and crudely ripped out its horn before turning and sprinting away from the scene.
Murmuring quick prayers and apologies on the wild animal, I tried to reorganize my mind as I control my inner turmoil.
Part of him is curling in disgust, beating down a monster was one thing but to murder a living being is a silver lining on his moral line. The sickening realization that he killed something was horrible, but he later comfort himself that what he did is self-defense and an accident.
Looking down at the horn I plucked earlier, I listlessly stare at the sight of flesh and blood in its roots.
Shaking my head, I mentally note down to control my strength. I may be superhuman right now but that doesn't warrant unsightly behaviors.
"This... this is a necessity, t-this is for survival," I spoke with conviction.
Slowing my sprint into a jog, I huff and puff as I mentally psyche myself.
"It wasn't my fault, that rabbit could've to skewer me."
But it didn't.
"It could've killed me..." I whispered.
Yeah, if that.. that point punctured me then It could lower my chances in the wild. I don't have access to any medicine and with no civilization in sight, an infection and blood loss is the last thing I need.
But then it hit me, how?
Darkshine is durable, far too durable for that meager [Wolf-Tier] to even drop a blood from me.
So why? Why didn't I just ignore and tank it like the original would've done?
I seethingly growled at that.
'Right, he and I aren't alike.' I inwardly growl, feeling irritated that I just compared myself to a fictional character.
Author notes: Sorry it's late, I've been busy and I'm not prioritizing my hobby over my IRL, so you guys are gotta wait.
Sorry, not sorry.
Also, there might be typos, etc, so... kindly point them out?
Bye.
