Slowing down into a halt, I let out a heavy huff of air as I push up another one. This action serves more to my psyche rather than physical exhaustion.

Steeling my nerves, I can't help but sit beside the log near the river and the ambiance of sounds that echo around the forest were music to my ears, this helps strengthen my resolve as I appraised the horn I plucked earlier.

my vision briefly changed. Then it focused, and all of the little details of the world felt clearer. Each strand of the horn's jagged textures, the rays of sunlight peeking from above the shade of the birch tree, the barest wisps of cloud high in the sky…

This newfound body helped me a lot more than I could count, truly I'm lucky that I have under the possession of Darkshine.

Touching, twisting, and caressing the object in question, I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the material in question. It felt far too smooth to be a natural.

It can't be a hardened hair like that of a rhino nor could've been materialized mineral-like enamel. It is smooth and sharp, cool and durable. It didn't seem to be hollow and it felt light as a feather, the latter part is

questionable due to my strength but since I didn't have a scaling instrument, I digress.

"That's a Mysterious being for you alright..." I spoke distractedly with an underlying sort of assurance, though it's helpful to know that the being I killed is a monster. It didn't lower my gag at the memory of such gore.

Yes, I've seen dead animals, I've been through a wet market and hunted sports in the past.

But there's something... different, it's different compared to the past, I don't know if it's the guilt, the gruesome blood, or the needless gore. Unlike before, it felt utterly disgusting.

Staring at the horn's roots, an idea pop up as I grimace at the sight of blood vessels attached at the end and the remainder of it made me gag in disgust.

"Well... it's for the best I guess." I looked back at where I came from, I made sure to run away as far as possible without distancing from the river path.

Right now, I could hear distant howls and yelping misery. Wild animals and monsters must have been attracted by the smell of blood and I'm not in any condition to fight.

At least mentally.

Washing off the blood with the help of the river stream. I began to gather materials like thick branches and dry leaves as I lace them far away from the water.

Once I was satisfied with it, I grab a pair of twigs with dry leaves below in frozen horror.

"...How do you start a fire again?"

This... this doesn't bode well.

At first, I did the classic rub, using a thick-looking stick as I balance it with my hands after placing a handful patch of tinder on the piece of bark beneath the stub of my stick.

I then began to twist it back and forth, picking up the acceleration and as the momentum goes on, a wisp of smoke began to produce which put a smile on my face.

'Yes... yes... YES.' I cheer inwardly seeing bits of spark.

I accelerated the stick much faster than before, my smile began to widen but before I could jump in joy.

The twig snapped in two at the strain I pushed. That didn't deter me though as I immediately shielded the lightened tinder with my ginormous hands, blowing a wisp of air carefully to encourage the spark as I added more dry leaves.

But despite my efforts, It didn't produce the results I wanted, the glowing, hot red spark just ate the tinder despite my insistence.

"Damn it!"

I growled as I openly smack the ground, groaning irritability at the failure.

I look up into the sky as I sat down with a face of defiance.

"...Should I eat berries and fruits instead?"

I look skeptical, so far in my travel. I couldn't recognize the floras in this world, sure some characteristics could parallel my world but... there are a lot of inconsistencies in their shape and appearance.

Like that banana tree, for one. The banana contains seeds, loads of it in fact. An unlikely and suspicious reveal and I'm not putting randos in my mouth for all I know I could have food poisoning or diarrhea.

Besides.

What the fuck is a banana tree doing here anyway? It doesn't even make any sense considering the difference in climate and location.

So many inconsistencies.

A bird's harsh cry rang out, jolting me. Automatically, I looked to the source of the sound, spotting the bird off in the distance over the horizon. I could count every white feather, spot the tiny scars on its webbed feet, every minute discoloration on its orange beak, its black eyes staring back-

The bird seized up, wings going rigid… then it fell. And fell. Until it crashed into the waves of the river stream with an undignified squawk.

That made me pause.

"What the-- hmmp?!"

Just as I question the phenomenon before me, I reflexively rolled beside the grasses the moment my instincts roared.

Hearing soft echoes of thum midway into the ground, I saw the lush grass within my peripheral vision rotting at a visible rate.

Landing on my feet, I crouch and let out a dangerous snarl to project the angriest black-man persona on the creature responsible but saw nothing but shades of darkness and green foliage.

Suddenly the image wavered which made me leap back in surprise.

The place I've been was suddenly set ablaze with wisps of fire. But despite that, I felt a painful warmth in my right shoulder.

Glancing down, I can't help but widened my eyes at the sight of nasty patches of sunburn. Running back, I jump right into a tree as a makeshift shield as a series of soft thum hit behind me.

"Where the hell is it coming from!"

Turning into a 180, my face is darkening seeing the bark is rotting at an alarming rate.

SckrrSss...

Hearing a dangerous creak from it, an Idea pop up into my head as I pull up and prepared a decisive blow. Standing sideways with my feet, I leverage my hips as I powered my feet as took a deep breath.

"H'uuuu... Haa!"

With a mighty roar, my feet sprung as my leg launched heavily into a swing, my roundhouse kick severed the fragile tree that is thicker and wider than my waist in half. Quickly composing my balance, the tree shifted dangerously as I plunge my right hand below it and put the other behind it.

Feeling the weight behind it, my face turned red at the strain as I immediately qdjust and prepared myself to throw this pine tree like a javelin. Making use of the placement before the gravity sets in, I took two steps forward before launching the makeshift spear in the general direction of my foe.

"R'aaaaaargh!!!"

"Eep!"

Seeing it sail into the air, I heard and see it crash into several branches and thinner trees, sprinting forward.

Boom!!!

I sprint forward into the crash site as I headed towards the high pitch and frightened yelp.

Grabbing the horn along the way, I power jumped across the river with a loud and heavy boom. Handling it into a reverse grip, I raised my makeshift shank into the air as I push away whatever obstacles with ferocious swipes.

With leaves and twigs flinging into the air, I let out a roar as I finally arrived and leap at the convenient-looking bush on the clearings.

Swoosh!

FshuUuhh!!!

Embedding the horn right into the center, I felt a resistance right pushing through it. Hearing a high pitch screeching full of pain and suffering, I didn't give it time to compose as I harshly pulled and repeated the action.

I could see the bush move erratically, it didn't take a genius as whatever or whoever is inside is scrambling to escape.

Not letting up, I stab, stab and stab. I lost count as the whine died down. Blood dribble down on my hand as my hand shook under the adrenaline.

Stepping back, I sat down with an audible thump as I slowly lost my shot of adrenaline.

Realizing the actions I've done, I watch bloodied hands in horror as I began to hyperventilate.

"OH God, oh God, Jesus fuck--Gek!" I flinch when I accidentally bit my tongue.

With my eyes moisten with tears, I rolled over the coppery taste of my own blood as I jerkily scampered my way up.

The roller coaster of emotions was too much for me, I couldn't handle the pressure anymore as my resolve began to waver.

Joy, realization, guilt, disgust, anger, nervousness, jubilation, guilt and disgust.

"G'raagh!!! Aaargh!"

The flurries of emotions are swirling out of control, the pressure was too much as I roared in defiance. Because despite my menacing appearance, beneath the veil is nothing but a teenager unfamiliar with murder and bloodshed.

For a good minutes I silently cried, which gradually faded through time. Feeling the pent up emotions release, I silently sat as I composed myself, before turning into a conremplative gaze towards the bloody and ravaged bushes.

Crying for long periods of time releases oxytocin and endogenous opioids, otherwise known as endorphins. These feel-good chemicals can help ease both physical and emotional pain. Once the endorphins are released, your body may go into somewhat of a numb stage which is why I let out my bottle up emotions.

Standing shakily uptight, I stiffly walk towards it as my hold on the blooded horn loosened.

My eyes suddenly went dead and glassy at the sight and realization of what or whom I killed.

My hearth must've leap out of my chest at the of my attacker's identity.

Author: Take note that the timeline has yet to pass an hour when the mc was displaced. Yikes, two kills and one of them is intentional in a row?

What a rush.

Imagine a Highschool city boy suddenly thrust into the supernatural wilderness, mmm mmm...

Anyhow!!!

what do you think? is it too much? is the pace too fast or my writing is far too murky to understand?
