Disclaimer: Don't own Cat, Red Dwarf, The Inquisitor or ANYTHING!

Just a short little one shot continued on from the last lines The Cat & The Inquisitor say to each other in the episode. Kinda a Cat/Kira fic so also has my nice, sensitive, developed, and evolved Cat character!... Anyway, read on, and and review if you want to, critism welcome too.

Judgement Day

Cat stood in the strange cavern, looking at the inquisitor version of himself who would decide whether he had successfully justified his existence or not.

"Sometimes you astonish even me!" The judge version of himself grinned.

"Thank you!" Cat laughed slightly, hoping he could soon leave.

"But I'm sorry, bud you can't base your entire case on how good your ass is." The Inquisitor Cat replied almost regretfully after a moment.

"So you want me, to justify my existence, by how much my life has been meaningful and useful to others?" Cast asked, frowning slightly as he still stood to attention, his hands still neatly held in front of his body.

"Those are long words you're using bud."

"I suppose they are." Cat mused as he moved a hand to his head and ran a hand through his immaculate hair.

"I don't know if I deserve to live – maybe I don't maybe some other version of me would have had better luck caring for Kira. I mean what do I do? I spend all my life been selfish and only looking out for number 1, then when I find my soul mate and start to settle down and have a family – I loose her and I may never fix it!" Cat sighed then folded his arms defensively at opening up and showing the real him – Even if only to himself.

"I see your reasoning bud, but what about your intelligence? You could help the others so much more if only you spoke up!" The Inquisitor argued as he too folded his arms.

"Why? So they would see me differently, realise that thanks to Kira my intelligence equalled theirs or even surpassed in some cases? I just want to be left alone to my own devices, you don't need to do something worthwhile at every stage in your life to want some solitary time do you?" Cat looked up, his features contorted, he wondered if he was making sense in his speeches, but if anyone was to understand – It would be himself.

"Your argument brings forth both reason and cause for deletion." The inquisitor replied, his furrowed brow trying to decide the feline's worth in the world.

"Maybe so, but if you are to judge us and how much we deserve to live based on how many times we save lives or donate money to charity events, shouldn't you when giving a fair trial, respect the decisions people make when judging how best to represent their case?" Cat asked, his nails nervously scratching at the material of his sleeves as he waited for a response.

The Inquisitor however just looked at Cat, then after a moment replaced his mask and called forth Kryten – The next from the crew to be judged...
