Authors note/forward : So, if you have been looking at my profile i had a poll for what kind of infinite stratos fic to do if i did one, and this one rather handily. which is nice because i can be completely dumb with it if i want considering Kampfer. this story is M rated for Kampfer shenanigans and insinuations, and i am augmenting/alterign some lore pieces on the kampfer side due to Manga events and how i percieve change would be made to the system itself.
also, i should make it clear that, with the new way i am going to be writing my stories, this story will not have an kind of specific or planned updating speed. it will update whenver i get to it and no sooner.
so with that out of the way, i hope you enjoy this utterly mad idea!
Four individuals leapt across the rooftops of the city in ways that defied normal human biology. Two of them had black hair, were in generic school uniforms, and were both holding large weapons, an axe and staff respectively, while the two chasing them were far more outlandish in their looks.
One had long flowing golden hair with stripes of black that went down in cascading lines and was carrying a large gold edged Odachi, while the other had hair like flowing fire and was carrying a blood red P90 bullpup rifle with a white flame effect trailing down its sides from the barrel. Both were wearing black skirts and black tank tops with vests over top and had body shapes that would make models cry.
"They are making this difficult with all the running around," the flame haired woman said in annoyance. "They either have a plan, or as so afraid they are just running in panic!"
"Well, these are probably two of those six new ones that your sister mentioned encountering last week. So they don't have much experience. They probably are hoping to lead us into an ambush," the tiger haired woman said as she landed on a rooftop and then jumped off, grabbing hold a metal pole as she did to make herself spin and fly higher and faster into the air.
"So split them up then?" flame hair asked with a grin as she seemed to summon a clip of ammunition for her P90 into her hand before slotting it into the weapons top.
Tiger hair smiled. "Death from above?"
"Obviously. I'll take the axe wielder."
"Then it's the staff for me!"
"On three."
"Three!" In that instant both woman leapt to higher buildings and then dashed at the ones they were chasing.
The two girls slowed down and looked behind them and, seeing no one any longer following them, came to a stop atop a lower building. "I, think we lost them. Gods I didn't think they could be that fast."
"Yeah, I know some of our seniors said to not pick a fight with them but they-" the axe wielder was cut off as both the flame haired and tiger haired women landed on the rooftop between the girls, wide grins plastering their faces. "Oh shi-"
The axe wielder had no way to continue her words as the flame haired woman kicked her in the stomach, sending her flying off the roof, while the tiger haired woman kicked the staff wielder the opposite direction off the building towards an open field behind what looked like either a school or convention Centre.
Crashing into a bush and rolling out of it, the staff user rolled further, barely dodging a swipe from the tiger haired woman's huge sword. A slash that dug out the ground where she had been in a way no sword should have been capable of doing so. "Damn you! You think you can beat us just by splitting us up?" the staff wielder asked as she got to her feet and pointed the end of her staff at the tiger haired one.
"Please, we don't need to split you up to beat you, its just more fun that way!" the tiger haired woman said with a big grin as she flipped her Odachi around and let it rest on her shoulder. The golden blade shone brightly, and even her hair seemed to shine as well, contrasting her bright blue eyes.
The staff wielders own eyes went wide in realization. "I thought I had recognized you. You're that online personality that's part of that group of three, Kinoen!"
"Well, that is my name in this form, I just found a way to use it for things aside from fighting other Kampfer," the now named Kinoen said with a smirk as she lifted her Odachi off her shoulder and swung it horizontally, creating a golden wave of scintillating energy that the staff wielder jumped over to avoid.
"You, I don't care if you're some kind of big deal online, you're just a girl with a sword and a nice body. I will beat you!" the staff user stated seriously as she twirled her staff, showing off her blue bracelet.
"Hmm, didn't your seniors tell you not to mess with us," Kinoen said as she held up her left hand, showing off her red bracelet. "I'm pretty sure the two of us, sorry three, are pretty notorious, no?"
The staff girl looked caught off guard as she took a step back and pointed her staff at Kinoen again. "That, that doesn't matter, they were probably just afraid of your hair, nothing else!"
"Shall we test that theory?" Kinoen asked before she dashed forward almost to fast to see and swung her Odachi downwards at the staff wielder. She swung it at the sword to knock it aside, only for the blade to cut clean through it and then slice down in front of her, missing her skin by a hairs breadth, but not missing her blouse in the least.
"Ah, what is wrong with you!?" the staff wielder said as she threw her arms in front of her chest, holding together her shredded blouse.
"Your clothing getting destroyed is pretty normal for a Kampfer. Our powers make our bodies tougher, not our clothes after all," Kinoen said before smirking. "You must be beyond new at this to not know that. Is this your first times fighting a red Kampfer?"
"S-So what if it is, you're just swinging a sword around! I can totally beat you!"
"Then prepare yourself, because none of us three have lost yet, and I do not plan on doing so now!" Kinoen declared as she took a step forward, her sword seeming to glow as she did. "Lotus!"
The staff wielder raised her suddenly repaired staff expecting to block the blade, only for Kinoen to slip past her guard and slam the pommel of her Odachi into the girls stomach, the force of which sent her flying backwards and rolling atop the grass until she hit a fence at the edge of a parking lot, and went through it to hit a concrete block.
After a few seconds of no reaction the girl finally moved, slowly lifting herself up with her hands only to throw up on the concrete. "You, monster," she coughed out in pain as she slowly got up to her feet.
"Wow, you're pretty weak huh? I wasn't even using that move at full strength," Kinoen said as she began walking toward the girl, Odachi swinging side to side and creating golden waves behind its broad swipes. "So you are new to this and thought you'd pick a fight because you got power huh?"
"Is, is that so wrong when it's our job as Kampfer?" the girl yelled, only to start coughing again as she began backing away nervously from Kinoen.
"No, we fight others to solve a galactic dilemma, while also earning bonuses for ourselves, everything from additional powers to money and anything in between," Kinoen said with a smile that began twisting. "But you do know what happens when you lose, right?"
"Want does that have to-"
"You die," Kinoen said seriously, interrupting the girl and making her expression go from angry and in pain, to utterly terrified.
That of course was not the whole truth, though it supposedly was years ago. If a Kampfer defeated three Kampfer of another color they got a white band on their bracelet. If they got three white bands they could exchange it for the boons that the moderators offered them through their familiars. Similarly each time a Kampfer lost they were 'respawned' back in their own home and had a black band appear on their bracelet. Three black bands meant your existence was erased from reality, or if you were smart and had taken the associated boon, simply lost all your powers and stopped being a Kampfer.
Of course, that girl didn't need to know that as she would find out the truth soon enough.
"NO, that can't be true! You're lying!" the staff girl screamed as she took a few more steps backwards and bumped into a car, setting of its alarm, and her adrenaline. "No!" she screamed as she turned and ran to the building before jumping and beginning to scale its side.
"Ah, maybe I took the scare tactic too far," Kinoen sighed as she made chase, scaling the entire wall in a matter of seconds and landing atop the roof to find the girl crawling across it with her staff in hand. "You know, this is your own fault. You and your friend picked a fight with us when we're probably two of the three most experienced Kampfer in Kyoto," she said as she approached the staff user, dragging the tip of her sword on the ground and cutting a line on the roof. "And if your seniors allowed you out with your level of skill, it is just sad."
"No, I just, they said we needed to learn or we, no, I won't die, I won't!" the girl screamed as she began swimming her staff in wide arcs. Only for her one swing to slam against the roof they were on, and crack it.
"Wait, hold up, and calm down. I'm not trying to kill you I just want you to understand-"
"No, get away from me! I won't believe your lies!" the girl hysterically shrieked as she continued to swing her staff about, scraping chunks out of the roof below her without realizing it.
"No, stop, you're going to bring down the roof. Bludgeoning weapons used by a Kampfer can destroy a lot of things, calm down and-" Kinoen tried to say as she took a step forward.
Only to make it worse.
"Get away from me!" the girl screamed as she swung her staff straight down in front of her and into the roof, destroying the last bit of integrity it had.
The roof cracked, buckled, and ultimately broke away in chunks. The crashing of steel beams, concrete and glass echoed out in every direction alongside the sounds of the screams of many dozens of people. With the ceiling gone the girl and Kinoen fell as well, being covered and hidden only by the amount of dust and debris the sudden crash created.
"The ceiling came down!"
"What is going on?"
"Is anyone hurt?"
"Holy shit what is going on!?"
"Are we under attack?"
"Everyone get away from this room now!"
Hearing all the noise and people yelling, both girls and boys, and seeing that the debris cloud was doing a superb job of still hiding her, Kinoen pulled herself up off the rubble and slinked across it to what appeared to be a wall and slid down it until she found a door. Pushing it open she found an empty hallway, but could hear noise down it from some direction, likely people running away from the suddenly collapsing roof of a perfectly new community Centre. Briskly walking down the hall she found a storage closet, stepped in, and deactivated her Kampfer bracelet.
What then stepped out of the closet was not a young, beautiful, and very shapely woman with absurd hair who was an internet idol of both music and swords, but a young and average, if also rather handsome, Japanese boy named Ichika Orimura. Who then proceeded to walk down the hallway scratching the back of his neck.
"Well, that could have gone better. I think this was the Centre I was going to take that test tomorrow. Probably not now. Ugh, I need to find a way to reign in her personality a bit," Ichika grumbled as he came up to a door, opened it and stepped inside.
Only to realize he had likely gone the wrong way as the room he was in was nearly pitch black. And the door closed behind him, making it truly pitch black.
He instantly turned around and tried the door, finding it had locked itself somehow and groaned. "Well, this is just great. Maybe there's another way out," he muttered as he turned around and moved across the room, only to run into something very hard and solid after a few steps. "Ow, what is this? A control panel? No, it feels like a metal plate,"
A second later the metal began to glow, revealing its shape as a collapsed form of an Infinite Stratos training unit. And then the door on the opposite side of the room he had come in from opened up and a number of what appeared to be researchers came in, saw him touching the now partly activated IS, and promptly lost their minds.

"This is not funny," Ichika Orimura said to his friend Dan Gotanda, and his sister Ran Gotanda, who were sitting on a couch in his homes living room.
"Sorry, but it really is Ichika," Ran said with a stifled giggle.
"Yeah, not only did you let that noob lead you around, you over panicked her and got her to blow apart a ceiling, dropped you into the community Centre with her, and then ended up activating an IS and being forced to take a test with it where you ended up beating the tester," Dan said with a huge grin on his face. "That kind of luck is just ridiculous. Its like a chain of events right out of a bad movie or a shounen anime!"
"And it made the rest of the entrance exams have to be moved to another Centre, putting off Dan and your original tests a week," Ran added with a giggle. "Not that you may need it now."
"Please don't remind me. Not only am I now being forced to attend the IS Academy as the first ever guy to pilot an IS, but my bracelet was trying to activate the entire time during that test!" Ichika stated in annoyance as he turned his head and looked at the coffee table where a trio of slightly horrible looking plushies were sitting. "Is there some way to stop it from trying to activate in regards to an IS?"
One of the plushies that looked like a dark red scorpion with a spear impaling both its tail and its body turned to him and shook its body. "Sorry boss, the bracelet was activating because it sensed a situation that would require you being in your Kampfer form. Those exosuits can only be piloted by women, so it mistook you as one due to the bracelets power, and others will do the same. Your bracelet will keep trying to make you change because it would likely give you a boost to your control of it. You're stuck with the situation unfortunately."
"Damn, that was going to be my next question," Ichika said with a resigned sigh as he leaned back on the couch. "This sucks."
"How does it suck? You will be the only man in a haven of women!" Dan exclaimed with a stupid grin plastering his face.
"Dan, you're thinking with your dick," Ran said with a shake of her head. "All of us are Kampfer, and our other forms are physically older than we are. All of us have far more experience than others our age, and both of you know far more about women than any other man your age. Think for a moment what he will have to deal with in a school full of girls, many who may hold the IS's superiority complex, in addition to all of the other problems it could cause."
" . . . . . . Nope, I still don't see the issue." Dan said after barely a couple seconds of thought.
Ran growled in annoyance as she crawled across the couch and grabbed her brother by his shirt collar. "Dan, Ichika is going to be surrounded by an army of pubescent girls, many who will think they are superior because of their gender. In addition, many other may be attracted to him do to that odd magnetism he has that attracts girls attention. There will be hundreds upon hundreds of girls, all of which will love rumors and gossip, and who may hit their periods all at the same time!"
Dans face shifted to one of horror as he realized what Ran was getting at. "Oh, oh God!"
"And that is not the worst of it! Think for a moment Dan, Ichika said his bracelet was trying to activate while piloting the IS, what would happen if it activated and he changed into Kinoen while piloting it?"
Dan was quiet for a moment before he swallowed hard. "It would reveal his Kampfer identity, making ours in danger, and making the government lock onto us in an instant as they are not really that fond of us Kampfer running around causing property damage. . . . Shit."
"I can only imagine what my sister would do if she found out Kinoen was me with some of the things we've done," Ichika added with a shiver, making Dan and Ran look away, both out of embarrassment and fear all at once.
"Yeah, I can see our parents having, words with us," Dan said with false chuckling.
"Ah to be young and find out that Kampfer bodies are immune to sickness and disease," one of the other two plushies, shaped like a cat of some kind with its insides trailing behind it where its back legs should be said with an annoying baritone voice.
"Indeed, they have done a variety of things other Kampfers do not even consider, after all," the third plushie, that looked like an armadillo covered in ash, said quietly.
"You two are getting really close to a spin cycle in the laundry machine!" Ran threatened as she glared at the plushies and cracked her knuckles as she scooted away from Dan.
"Hey boss, I have a question," the scorpion spoke up as it skittered to the edge of the table. Though being made of plush it made very little noise when it moved.
"Sure skewer, go ahead," Ichika replied, using the shortened term of its full name skewered scorpion. It was just too much of a mouthful otherwise.
"If you only took that test today, how have you already been enrolled into the IS academy? I was under the impression it required consent of a guardian, and while your Kampfer form may look like a young but legal adult, you still are not."
Ichika let out a heavy sigh. "Yeah, somehow my sister found out and enrolled me almost immediately. I'm not sure why, but I am guessing the government wanted to do something and she did it to protect me."
"I could believe that, what with the way the government looks at the IS," Dan said simply.
"Turn them into weapons, praise the Valkyries, down with the patriarchy!" the cat plushie said in a mocking tone before giggling. Right before it was hit by a remote control and knocked right off the table.
"Enough of that sand cat," Dan said with a momentary scowl before he looked at Ichika. "So, when does the IS Academy start up its classes?"
"In three days," Ichika said with a defeated sigh.
"Huh? Other schools don't start for another two weeks!" Ran exclaimed in shock.
"Yeah, the problem is that I don't know what I need and will-," Ichika stopped talking as he pulled out his phone and looked at it before sighing. "A text from my sister. It says that she is having a male uniform designed and made, and that a few sets will arrive tomorrow. Also has a list of what I will need for the class. I wonder how many strings she had to pull?"
"Probably a few. Though it helps that you won't have to wear a skirt as a guy, right?" Dan offered.
"Honestly I'm more worried about what kind of clothing I'd have to wear when piloting the IS," Ichika said, making Ran giggle.
"That's fair; they do seem to wear what are basically one piece bathing suits when piloting those things,"
"Well they are nice and form fitting," Dan said with a dirty grin before chuckle. "ha, imagine Kinoen in it!"
"I'd rather not, but she would probably enjoy it," Ichika admitted.
"Wait, hold up," Ran suddenly said. "If the bracelet tried to change you while piloting it, how hard was it to resist?"
"Not hard at the start, probably because we're all pretty experienced now, but as the test continued it was getting harder. That's why I tried to end the test sooner and did too well," Ichika explained before sitting forward and rolling his shoulders. "Honestly I don't like the idea of leaving you two alone to fight the blues, will you be okay?"
"We'll be fine. The only blues who are tough enough to be a danger know how strong we are and don't actively go at us, and the other reds in the city are better targets for most of them anyway," Dan said with a wave of a hand as the sand cat plush finally managed to climb its way back up onto the coffee table.
"I agree with my brother," Ran said seriously as she pulled out her phone, swiped it a couple times, and then put it on the table, showing a YouTube channel. "I'm more worried about how it's going to cut into our other work."
"Oh, right, yeah that will mess it up," Dan said seriously. "Our next group music video was supposed to come out in a week."
"Well, most of the things I will need I already have. I just will need to pack some clothing and the uniforms basically," Ichika said as he stood up and smiled. "So before I have to leave lets finish it!"
"In less than three days? When the group videos take us normally over a week?" Dan asked in disbelief. "Are you sure you didn't hit your head sometime today? Or maybe Kinoen's personality is trickling in?"
"I'm not meaning all of the work, but just the main video pieces that need all three of us," Ichika deadpanned. "If it's just getting the video down it should be able to done in a couple days, and then you two can do the post production editing when I'm gone."
"Well, that could work, but do you think any of our Kampfer personalities will let it be that easy?" Ran asked with a knowing smirk.
"Well, probably not," Ichika admitted as he glanced to the side, knowing how each of their Kampfer personalities worked, then shook his head. "I still think we should try though."
"Yeah, that's fair. It could be a good use of time before you head off to PMS Shangri-la!" Dan exclaimed, earning a punch to the shoulder from Ran.
"Enough of that, if we are going to do that we should head to our place and get the stuff we'll need," Ran said as she stood up and held her left arm over the table, its blue bracelet dangling a bit.
Both Dan and Ichika then got up and did the same, all three of their bracelets tapping against each other of the three of them let out a cheer.

"Miss Orimura, do you know why you are here in my office right now?" The Headmistress of the IS Academy asked as soon as Chifuyu Orimura entered and closed the door.
"I assume you wish to question me about the situation pertaining to my brother?" Chifuyu answered professionally.
"That is correct," the Headmistress said as she leaned back in her chair.
"Then first please allow me to apologize for going above the allowance of my position and forcibly enrolling him. I was alerted that he somehow piloted an IS by a acquaintance of mine, and when I called to have him removed from the premises he was in they began with saying they would not because he was going to be shipped off to a research facility for them to learn how he piloted it. When I contacted the ones who were planning this, they very bluntly told me that to learn as such, he likely would need to be, euthanized. I was not going to let that happen."
"Nor should you; the idea that our government would willingly do that to someone under age who has committed no crimes is atrocious, yet somehow allowed by a few small lines of legalese. I do not fault you for doing as you did, but because of it I am now being bombarded by questions and demands. Both from the government, the JSDF, and the media. I have no intent to hand him over, or release any more information than is necessary as his presence could be a strong catalyst, but I must ask you some questions."
"What do you need to know?" Chifuyu asked as her stoic expression remained unchanging.
"To begin with, do you know how he able to pilot an IS?"
"I do not. I asked Tabane Shinonono about it, and she was more than surprised by the fact he could."
"I see. Then I shall not press further upon that," the Headmistress said as she picked up a small stack of papers from one side of the desk and dropped then in its center. "These are his academic information sheets. Please look over them as his guardian and make sure everything is proper."
"Understood. How quickly do you need it?"
"By the day class's start, so take it with you if you need to," the Headmistress said simply. She then turning her computers monitor so that Chifuyu could see it. "Additionally, is there anything about your brothers psychology that you wish be made known to me and other teachers?"
Chifuyu thought about it for a moment before nodding. "Though I have not seen my brother much these past few years, he has a very strong sense of duty and justice, almost a white knight complex. When I last saw him, he also still held onto the belief that men should protect women."
"So he may get a rude awakening from some of our students," the Headmistress said with a sigh. "How does he deal with those who hold titles?"
"I do not know admittedly. He has been around others who hold titles, but few if any ever flaunted them," Chifuyu said.
"I see. I do not see him being here to be easy for him, or our teachers, but I do admit it is preferable to what the JSDF and Japanese government wished to do with him. In these next years you will need to make the situation clear to him, and decide what to do, at some point."
"Yes, but I will save that until his second year at least. He will have enough to deal with as it is."
"That he will."
