Prologue

Summary: Ash has always had a love for flying-type Pokémon since he was a baby when a pidgey landed on his stroller when Delia wasn't paying attention. Since then Ash would always use every excuse to be around flying type Pokémon. Now watch as Ash strives to become a flying type master. But some things will also happen that will change how others see Pokémon forever, especially Ash's considering that by the end of his journey he will learn what the ancients knew. Pokémon are a LOT smarter than everyone thought.

Pairing: Ash x flying type harem.

Warnings: Lemons in later chapters that will contain pokephilia, male human x female Pokémon, impregnation, slight cumflation, and size difference in some. Smart! Ash, Pokéspeach! Ash. (Aka Ash can understand Pokémon.) Harem list will be at the bottom of the chapter.

A/N: so this is the secret project that I have had up on my profile for months now. So let me tell you all about why I'm writing this. I was looking on the internet for anything that might give me ideas for any Pokémon fics as I wanted to do some. When a friend sent me a link to an article and I saw how in Diamond and Pearl they mentioned that Pokémon and humans used to get married to each other. Though they changed it in the English version. Just look up 'is poképhilia canon?' and it will take you to the article. Now let's get to the story, shall we?

It was a beautiful day in palette town, today was the birthday of one Ash ketchup. Today was his tenth birthday and it would be the best day of his life, or so he thought. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY RAISED THE AGE LIMIT?" Was the shout that rang out all through palette town. The shout came from a now ten-year-old Ash staring at his mother with tears in his eyes. See his mother told him that the government had just raised the beginning age for trainers to start their journey because too many trainers die for various reasons. Most were because they weren't ready to go out on their own. "Why did they have to do it this year of all years? I've been waiting so long for this day and now I have to wait six more years before I can start on my journey." Ash complained, he had been waiting for this day since he was able to walk.

Delia understands that her son had been eagerly awaiting this day for years. She had also anticipated something like this happening, as she knew that trainer deaths were on the rise recently. Too many arrogant trainers thought they could just throw Pokéballs at Pokemon and it would catch them immediately. (A/N: yes I'm calling out Pokémon Go.) So she had professor oak call his cousin in Alola and had him send over a birthday present for ash. Then on the day, she went to pick up the gift she was able to catch a second present for her son. "I don't know why they chose today of all days, but I think you will like the presents I have for you." Delia said before bringing out a box wrapped in red and white wrapping paper. She put it in his lap and sat down. "I got them knowing that you love flying type Pokémon. One is from here in Kanto and the other is from Alola." Delia said while looking at Ash not even paying attention to her anymore. She knew that she lost him after flying type Pokémon. After he was finished tearing off the paper he opened the box. 'I just hope this will help him wait a little longer." Delia thought while she knew Ash would want to leave on his journey tomorrow. She knew that he couldn't now because of the law.

Inside the box were two Pokéballs. The Pokéballs were sky-blue with white clouds all over the top and had a cloud pattern on the bottom half. These were skyballs (1), Pokeballs designed to catch flying type Pokémon. Ash has been storing them up for when he became a trainer, as he knew that they wouldn't be on the shelves long. Not that many people wanted to be strictly flying type trainers. So when they started to give them away at all the local shops, ash started going around with a wagon and boxes collecting all the skyballs he could get. "More skyballs? Mom you know I have more than enough of these to catch every flying type species fifty times and still have hundreds left." Ash said, confused as to why his mom would give him more Pokéballs? 'Unless there's something inside.' Ash thought, before pulling the balls out and tossed them in the air. Both burst open with beams of light coming out. When the light was gone two figures stood in the light's place. One was a small bird with brown and light brown feathers with some black around the eyes. Its eyes were a steel gray, and the beak was bright pink. This was a pidgey the Tiny Bird Pokémon.

Next was another bird Brown with white on its belly and around its black eyes, its pupils were white and had a slightly lazy look to them. Like it would fall asleep at any time, it also had what looks like a bow tie made of two leaves. This was Rowlet the Grass Quill Pokémon.

Both Pokemon looked around to see where they were. "Where am I? The last thing I remember was landing for a bit of rest then I was hit by something. Felt almost like a thundershock." Pidgey said in pokéspeach. She was a female if her voice was any indication, as it was high and squeaky with a feminine tone to it. She then saw Ash holding her ball and instantly knew what happened. "Oh great, I got caught when I landed, didn't I. Well looks like I'm going to have to get along with whoever my new trainer's starter is." Pidgey said before looking at her left and saw Rowlet. "Who and what are you? I've never seen any Pokemon like you before." She asked, wanting to know who her new teammate was. She had never seen a Pokemon like this before, she could tell it was a flying type, but other than that she couldn't tell what else her new partner's typing was.

Rowlet looked to its right when it heard Pidgey's question. "I'm a Rowlet, a flying and grass type. Though I don't know why I'm here, the last thing I remember was I was at the human school in Alola with the other female starters and I felt something hit me in the head. Now I'm here, guess my number got called. This sort of thing only happens when the number given to you at the starter ranch is called. At least that's what my mom said when I saw one of the older Rowlet get caught." Rowlet said in a feminine voice. She then started looking for her new trainer. When she saw Ash with her Pokeball as well as Pidgey's ball. she now understood when she was, she was in her trainer's house. Looking around she saw that her trainer was having some sort of celebration. 'He must be celebrating his hatch day(2). I wonder how old he is? If he's got me he has to be at least ten if I remember human laws right. I'm just glad they didn't use that stupid injection they always give all the starters that go out to their trainers, on me(3). It was probably a rush order, that's the only time that happens if my aunt is to be believed.' Rowlet thought to herself. She had been listening to the human caretaker of the ranch talking to the workers when they thought she wasn't listening. She always thought humans were interesting, they always had something that interested her.

Ash looked surprised, he never thought he would get two pokémon for his birthday. Not to mention ones that can 'talk' like humans. "Hey mom, why are they talking like us?" Ash asked his mother wondering why his new Pokémon were talking like they were humans?

Delia and the two pokémon had surprised looks on their faces. Delia was surprised that her son could understand his new pokémon. Pidgey and Rowlet were also surprised that a human could understand them, but then all three of them remembered something. There were legends of humans understanding pokémon, among both humans and pokémon. Though most pokémon attribute it to it being a gift to certain humans by the legendaries.

Delia got over her shock first. "Ash, I didn't get talking pokémon. I think you can understand them because… because someone in our family tree may be a Pokémon themselves." Delia said with a thoughtful expression on her face. She never really paid attention to their family tree before, so the possibility of one being a Pokémon wasn't so far-fetched. Especially since her grandmother was a fighting type specialist, and she had heard stories of girls getting pregnant when they had gotten curious around a Machoke or Lucario. Both of which her grandmother had in her possession before and after she retired from being a trainer. Though she also remembered that the Machoke was a female so that rules her out. So all that was left was the Lucario, and that scared her a bit, as that jackal was one of the angriest Pokémon she had ever met. He had never liked anyone going near him except her grandmother. Though if what she thought was true then it made a lot of sense now. As Lucario are fiercely protective of their mates till death, and him having arthritis probably didn't help either.

Ash looked confused at this, and so did his Pokémon, as this was kind of a new concept to them. "What do you mean mom? I thought that was impossible and that it only happened in fantasy stories." Ash said as things like this were the stuff of fairy tales and legends. Sure he had heard some of the same stories his mother had heard around town when people thought that he wasn't paying attention. But he never really believed them. It was like that story about the Skitty and the Wailord in his opinion, interesting and shocking, but just too unbelievable to be true.

Both Pidgey and Rowlet nodded at this as they thought the same thing. While they did believe the stories about humans and pokémon getting married to each other, they never believed the parts about children being born through it. As some of the stories involved an Absol, an eeveelution, or in some cases a flying type like them. It just sounds odd to them that a human could possibly have hatchlings with them, if they ever chose to go that route. It was one of those things that a few Pokémon looked down upon because they were old trainer Pokémon with bad and/or evil trainers.

Delia shook her head before speaking. "If my guess is right, then the pokémon in our family tree is your great-grandfather." She said getting shocked looks from Ash and the two flying types. Delia just smiled at this and secretly took a picture of their faces. "See Ash your great-grandmother was a single mother, that means she didn't have the help of a man to raise her children, but if I'm right then that isn't true. You see, she was a trainer that specialized in fighting type Pokémon, and when she retired she only kept two of her pokémon with her." Delia said while having Ash sit down. The two flying types also taking a seat next to their trainer, which made Delia smile more as that meant that they accepted Ash as their trainer to some extent.

Once everyone was seated, she continued. "My grandma was a sweet woman that loved pokémon. I honestly think she might have made it to the elite four if it wasn't for how things were at the time. She had to retire because of an injury that she got while training with her Mienfoo when it accidentally hit her in the leg too hard. The only two Pokémon to stay with her were her Lucario and Machoke." Delia revealed getting looks of surprise from her son and the two pokémon. "But here's the thing, her Machoke is female." She told them getting even more shocked looks from them.

Ash then caught on the what his mother was saying."But that only leaves…" Ash said with wide-eyed realization followed by Pidgey and Rowlet going wide-eyed. They all look at each other then back at Delia and see her nodding.

She looked out the window and sighed. "If my guess is right, then your great-grandfather was your great-grandmother's Lucario. Since Poképhilia was very frowned upon, she probably kept it secret from everyone, even her own children and grandchildren. Probably one of the reasons he was so grumpy all the time." Delia said while shaking her head. "It was only a few days before he died when he finally started to lighten up to me and your grandmother. It seems like he was angry with her about something, that something being your grandfather leaving your grandmother and me before I was born." Delia said while thinking about that day. Lucario finally started to warm up to them after her ex-boyfriend, and Ash's father came saying that he was going to leaving Delia because she wouldn't get an abortion. Just as he was about to hit her, Lucario grabbed his wrist and flung him away from her. Ash's father knew that he wouldn't win that fight, so he left and never bothered them again.

Ash was confused about some of the words that his mom used, as she hasn't given him this 'talk' that some of the older kids talked about. But he would ask her later what they meant. "So what do I do in the meantime? Even if I have Pidgey and Rowlet I still can't go out on my journey now." Ash said looking down and feeling sad that he couldn't go out on his journey until he was 16 years old.

Delia thought for a moment, she knew that Ash would need to be taught to take care of himself better. Especially with cooking and taking care of his flying types better. "Well, I think your next present will definitely help you kill time." She said before getting up and goes over to a closet and opens the door. Inside was a rather large box with Pokéball themed wrapping paper and a big red bow on top. "This is the other present I got you. I hope you like it, as it was really hard to find." Delia said before stepping aside so her son could open it.

Ash walked over to the box when he felt something land on his shoulder and head. He looked at his shoulder and saw Pidgey had perched herself on his left shoulder. Seeing this he figured Rowlet was probably the one on his head. He finished walking over to the present and pulled at the knot of the bow. Once it was untied he lifted the lid off of it. On the inside of the box was a large amount of books. All of them had something to do with aspects of flying type Pokémon, from eating habits to migration, to even nesting habits and mating rituals and what to do when they are expecting hatchlings. There were probably more on other subjects but Ash figured they were buried under the ones on the top.

Delia just loved the smile on her son's face when he saw all of the books. "These are the complete collection of books written by Pokémon professors all over the world on the subject of flying types. I knew they might have passed the reform bill on trainers licenses by the time you were ten. So I asked professor Oak if he could call the rest of his colleagues to see if they could send some books on flying types. The results were more than expected, as more than 123 books were sent in. Apparently, they were hoping to get rid of them as they were running out of space for new books that they wrote. So when they got the call they were just given a good excuse to give them away to someone that would appreciate their work." Delia said with a smile, she was glad that the professor was able to get all of these books together for her son. She had never expected for this amount of books to come in. Maybe three or four books at the most, not almost everything on every flying type Pokémon out there.

When Ash tried to move it he simply lifted the box up out of the closet. When he put it on the floor he saw his mom with a shocked look on her face. "What?" He asked with a slight tilt of his head, being careful not to tilt it enough so that Rowlet didn't fall.

Delia pointed at the box of books and said in a shaky tone. "Ash that box took a Machoke to get in there. It weighs as much as a Graveler!" Delia exclaims, it shocked her to her core that her son could lift that box! This only cemented her theory of who his great-grandfather and her grandfather was. She would have to visit his grave later today, to pay her proper respects to her dead grandchildren. Another thing she would have to do is tell her mother what she had just figured out. 'This isn't going to be easy for her. All these years, wondering who her father was and he was right beside her this whole time. Blue and black fur and all. Though this will explain why she had blue hair with black streaks when she was young.' Delia thought to herself. Her mother was so obsessed with finding her father when she was young that she almost killed herself by not eating for a week.

Rowlet and Pidgey were shocked to hear this. Their trainer basically just lifted a box that was about as heavy as one of the heaviest Pokémon in the world, and did it like it was as light as a Wishiwashi! "I think we will be in good hands, though the training is going to be hell from here on out. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be in my starter form forever." Pidgey said to her Pokémon teammate, before looking at Ash. "Don't go easy on us, you hear me. As much as I like being able to ride you like this, I would like to be able to at least evolve before the next decade. It's nothing against you before you ask, it's just I hate being so small. I was the runt of my clutch and was picked on for it by my siblings. So you know how that goes." Pidgey said, getting a nod from Ash in return.

Ash knew what being the runt in the Pokémon world means. You basically become the outcast on the litter or clutch. You are also considered the weakest of the bunch and run the risk of being thrown out of the nest or eaten depending on what species of Pokémon it is. 'Fucking cannibalistic rats!' Ash thought to himself in anger. He hated Pokémon that eat their own children, he understood that some Pokémon needed to eat others. It was because they were carnivores, they couldn't change that even if he tried. But eating your own children was very wrong in his mind.

Rowlet seemed to have picked up on Ash's anger, and given that she had seen what can happen to some runt. She knew what had him so pissed. "It is alright young master, I know what you are thinking of and know that we will never do what those filthy vermin that call themselves Pokémon to their young." Rowlet told him seemingly putting on an air of a professional maid or butler. "You are probably wondering why I'm talking like this, you see, I was raised to treat my trainer as if he were the master of a mansion. Since my species turns into a ghost type when we evolve, we follow a rule that has been around for years. Our trainers are to be considered the head of the household, while we are the guards." Rowlet explained, getting a raised eyebrow from Ash.

Ash picks up Rowlet and puts her on the coffee table and sits on the couch. "What happens if your trainer is evil or abuses you? Do you still stay with them or are you allowed to leave them in this case?" Ash asked while pulling out a notepad from a pocket in his jeans, and wrote down what she had just told him. Since not many people can understand Pokémon he decided that he should get this written down so that he can share this with the professor later.

Rowlet thought for a moment before responding. "From what I know of the rule, yes you can leave. But only in those situations, any other reason and you can get disowned by your family. Now to some that isn't a bad thing, but to us, it is a death sentence. We may be one of the strongest species of Pokémon in our region, but that doesn't mean we do it alone. Our flocks tend to number around 30 to 35 members, not including the chicks, so you can see why being disowned can get you killed." Rowlet said, getting a nod from both Ash and Pidgey showing they understood what she meant. "Anyway, speaking of flocks. Is there a place where we can set up our nests? I know that you are likely to have thought of this ahead of time so that when you did start being a trainer, that you would need to have some places for your Pokémon to rest while here." Rowlet said, wanting to know where she could make her nest. She usually made it bigger so that she was prepared for possibly evolving in her sleep. She knew a few of her brothers and sisters that had, had that happen to them after a long day of training. One even got stuck in their nest because of it, which is why she prepares for it so that if or when it happens she won't look like a Diglett in a nest.

Ash nodded and put Rowlet on his head again. "Yeah, there is, I planted a few large trees outside the house when I was little. They've grown really big since then, so they should do for now. I even have a treehouse in the tallest one." Ash said before opening the back door and walked out to a small Grove of really tall trees. The tallest being bigger than the house by a lot. "Will this work?" Ash asked, wanting to know if one of the trees will do?

Rowlet and Pidgey looked at each other and nodded. "This will do perfectly young master, in fact, it's more than perfect. This will give us room to grow as well, as it is still a growing tree. So if you want to expand the team more then there will be more than enough room for them as well." Rowlet said with Pidgey nodding her head in agreement. "But enough of that, how about we do some training before we decide where to build a nest. That way me and Pidgey here can use up all our excess energy before building our nests and going to sleep." Rowlet suggested, getting a cheer of approval from Pidgey and a nod from Ash.

Ash then walked over to a clearing in the Grove that had targets and an obstacle course. "I had this made just for when I got my first Pokémon. But since we will have to wait for when I'm 16 now, it can be where we train for the next six years." Ash said getting a confused look from both Pokémon. "Oh that's right you weren't out to hear it. Apparently, they changed the age limit for trainers to start their journey to 16. On today of all days too." Ash said with a depressed look on his face.

Pidgey and Rowlet were surprised to hear this, but it was Pidgey who spoke up. "Well, I can't say I'm all that surprised about this. From what I heard from the rest of my old flock, a lot of human kids have it in their heads that you can just throw Pokéballs at Pokémon and it will just capture them immediately. I can tell you from experience that it doesn't end well. Usually ends up with a dead trainer on the forest floor. Saw it happen once when some kid tried to catch a freaking primeape like that. Let's just say that the kid didn't walk away from that encounter." Pidgey said with a disgusted expression. Rowlet and Ash flinched at this, they had heard about what those Pokémon can do and how relentless they were. So they could imagine what happened next.

Ash shook his head causing Rowlet to fly off his head. "Sorry Rowlet, and don't worry I'm not that stupid. Especially when it comes to fighting types like Primeape." Ash told them before thinking for a bit.

Before Ash could say anything his mom came up to them with two pieces of paper and two bowls of bird seeds. "Ash I almost forgot to give you these. They are Rowlet and Pidgey's move lists, I also brought some seeds out for them to eat after you get done training." Delia said before giving Ash the two pieces of paper and putting down the bowls for Rowlet and Pidgey to eat. The two flying types flew down and began eating, as they had quite the appetite. "My, they sure were hungry. Also Ash, I've been thinking and I decided that I'm going to let you start sleeping in your treehouse a few times a week. That way you can bond more with these two." Delia said while pointing at the two feasting flying types. "I ordered a bed to be delivered here tomorrow. Hopefully we can get it set up in there, given how high up it is from the ground." She told him she smiled when she saw the happiest smile on Ash's face.

Ash was really happy to hear that he would be able to spend more time with his new Pokémon. "Thanks mom, I really appreciate this. I just wish I could go out on my journey tomorrow. Then it would be the perfect birthday, but I guess Arceus had other plans for me." Ash said before taking a look at the move lists for both his Pokémon. 'Let's see, Pidgey knows Gust, Brave Bird, and Peck. While Rowlet knows Ominous Wind, Tackle, and leafage. Good moves that's for sure, strong ones too. Rowlet would be great for the first two gyms here in Kanto.' Ash thought to himself. "Alright girls, when you get done eating we are going to start training. For now, I think it would be good if we started mastering your current moves so that we can focus on new ones later when you learn them." Ash told them getting nods from the two flying types. This would be the start of a long six years of training. But when the time comes for them to begin their journey, they will be more than prepared for it.

End A/N: well that's it for this chapter. The next chapter will be the beginning of Ash's journey. Now, I need to explain a few things for those that are going to be new here, and those that have been following me and my stories for a while. My ADHD has me constantly distracted, so story updates can be very slow at times. So please be patient with me. Now for the things I numbered. (1) skyballs are a form of Pokéballs that were made in my version of the Pokémon universe, but didn't pick up enough traction like the other ones did. So they were given out to those that wanted them. So as you can tell, Ash is pretty much set on Pokéballs for the rest of his career. (2) A hatchday is the same concept as a birthday. (3) the injection that Rowlet is talking/thinking about is an injection that makes it so that the gender ratio set in the game makes more sense. Starter ranches wouldn't work out well if young trainers could just go out into the wild and catch their starter Pokémon. So they made it so that wouldn't happen. But there can be some exceptions as explained in this chapter.

Well, I think that just about covers everything. Let me know what you guys and gals thoughts are in the reviews and remember to like and follow for more chapters like this. Till then I'll see you all in the next chapter.
