Hiei woke up to the strong smell of flowers and something else cloyingly sweet and probably pink. Peering down from his perch, he spotted Kurama sitting at the base of the tree, looking up at him and eating something. Sure enough, it was disgustingly pink...and...fluffy?
"What the hell are you eating?" he jumped to the ground and sat next to the other demon.
The kitsune smiled and offered it, whatever it was, up to the mercy of Hiei's glare.
"Cotton-candy, want to try it?"
Hiei jerked his head back as Kurama waved his pink confection dangerously close to the shorter demon's face.
"Gah! Get that away from me!"
"Oh, come on, try it," Kurama wheedled as he scooted closer to his companion. "You might like it; it's sweet."
"And since when do I like sweet things?" Hiei growled.
"You like me, don't you?"
"What's that got to do with it?" came the tactless reply.
"You don't think I'm sweet?" Kurama huffed and moved away from Hiei, who rolled his eyes at the kitsune's behavior.
They sat like that in silence for a few minutes as Hiei watched Kurama lick sticky spun sugar off his fingers. Sensing Hiei's gaze, Kurama moved even further away and faced the opposite direction. Hiei growled, how childish could you get?
"Fine, if I try the damn stuff, will you stop being mad at me?"
"You'd do that for me?" Kurama grinned and held out a small bit of his candy. He watched Hiei take it and gingerly put it in his mouth.
Hiei grimaced, expecting the worst as the puff of pale pink touched his tongue. Closing his mouth, he blinked. Then blinked again.
Kurama laughed at his surprised expression.
"I told you it was good," Kurama smirked and snuggled back up to his little partner.
"Hn," Hiei ignored Kurama's smug expression and reached for some more of the airy sugar treat, but Kurama held it out of his rather short reach.
"Hey!" Hiei growled, making Kurama laugh
"I can make it taste even better," he said.
"Yeah? And how's that?"
The taller demon grinned in reply. Stuffing the last of the cotton candy in his mouth, he pressed his lips against Hiei's before the pink fuzz could melt. Hiei, though taken by surprise, wasn't one for passing up an opportunity; he slid his tongue into Kurama's mouth, tasting the fading sweetness and pressing Kurama against the tree.
When they finally broke the kiss, Kurama grinned again.
"I think we need more cotton candy."
