Summary: Ed and Al are back in rizembool (spelling?) to get Ed's automail fixed AGAIN and Winry finds Ed on a hill watching the sunset and they start talking…
Blah blah thoughts/enhanced words
"blah blah'' speaking
Why?
As the bright sun started it's descent on a lazy Saturday in the small town of
Rizembool, Winry Rockbell searched in vain for Edward Elric. To her, a childhood best
friend, and maybe more, but to the military, The Fullmetal-Alchemist. As the tired blonde
looked over the hill, below the horizon, she saw what looked like a flash of metal,
attached to the object of her searching. With a slight sigh she headed toward the hill
thinking to herself I wonder how long Ed and Al will stay this time…Winry stopped at
the foot of the hill and looked slightly upward to see the alchemist deep in thought,
staring at the sunset.
With that same pang of shyness overcoming her, she couldn't help but stare unwittingly
at the back of his head with a simple smile.
"See something interesting, Winry?" the young man questioned half-jokingly, turning hishead to glimpse down at the young mechanic.
Yeah…"Of course not," she muttered stupidly in return, while fighting a fierce blush,
"Why?"
"Usually when someone's staring intently at something they like what they see," Ed
replied with a smirk plastered on his handsome face." Come on up."
With that Winry shrugged, walked up the hill, and sat down next to her friend.
A comfortable silence came, while the couple stared out at the sun setting over the grassy
country side, until as if on cue, Winry timidly asked," Ed, how long are you andAlphonse going to stay this time?"
The once fiercely determined look in his eyes turned to a slightly pained, rueful one, andhe replied," A couple of days, a week at most." "Oh…why won't you tell me how you break your auto-mail?" "…I just can't Winry." "Why the hell not?" she demanded,"We don't want you to worry…" "Worry? Like I don't already? C'mon Ed, you'll need abetter excuse than that." she said quietly," I'm sorry…all I seem to do these days is hurtpeople." He replied staring down at he clenched his human hand," Ed, some things ourjust out of your control, you know that. You can't stop the world from spinning. If yourtalking about Al, he knows you'll get his body back, we all do." She said softly.
All shegot in reply was silence, a soft nod, and a deep intake of breath before he reached out tohis side and grasped her soft hand with his. Her head shot up and looked at the youngalchemist with eyes that were currently closed and cheeks tainted with a blush.
Smiling, she slowly leaned her head onto his strong shoulders and thought I won't tell him I love him, not yet anyway. He needs to take on one thing at a time, he needs to focus on one thing at a time. When he comes home… really comes home to stay… I'll tell him. Shelooked up at his face to see the blush faded to a slight pink and his eyes half open when he looked at her and said, "Winry…thank you."
With that he lowered his head and gentlyplaced his lips on her temple, then shifted to his normal position with his hand in hers, staring at the sunset.
Of course, turning slightly every now and then to stare intently at hisfriend-maybe more-at his side. Not yet…I'll tell her when I come home…really home, to stay.
