The huge concrete building had guards armed with rifles and bows, it's a fort. The sign above the door read "King's Alley High", Luna wondered how long ago they settled in when she saw the vines that had grown above the wooden and metal reinforcements, "The scouts are back!" a guard shouted as the heavy double doors flew open. Whoever these people are, they are armed and Luna's not exactly in the place to question who they are. "Come on in," the guard shouted in a distinct southern accent.

"So you people made a living in a high school eh," Luna awed at the place, the place had electricity, something Lily had little knowledge about. "Woah, solar-powered?"

"Lu-mom, what does solar-powered meant?" Lily asked as she laid her eyes at the wires running like vines on an old house.

"like batteries, but the sun is the battery," Luna replied, with a smile on her face.

"The sun is a good friend," Lily stated, as the four people entered the building. "Wow, it's clean in here," Lily said as she saw the cleanest tiled floor in her life, even with the tint of dark unremovable dried muck the floor was the cleanest she had ever seen.

"Keep dreaming kid, you haven't seen all of it yet," Jim said before he disappeared into the safety of the labyrinth.

The two Louds entered the double doors, gazing their eyes on the pristine locale as if it had been preserved in a time bubble, away from the horrid nightmares lying outside. The doors were marked, left and right, people were everywhere, but all had one in common, they all looked at Luna and Lily with disgust. Who wouldn't, the world ended and everything outside is another predator. "Don't worry about them, follow me," Brenda said as she leads the two through a door that was marked, "showers".

"Take these and I'll send some fresh clothes for you folks," Brenda said as she pointed at the towels stacked on a wooden rack. "You should go to the infirmary Jess, that thing must've given you a huge bruise or something,"

"Thanks, Brenda," Lily said cheerfully as she took a towel from the rack.

With that the woman left, leaving Luna and Lily alone in the room, Luna took her gun out and opened the shower curtains, all of the cubicles are empty. Sighing in relief she motioned her finger to Lily, who came running with two towels in her arms. "It's clear sis," Luna said as she tried the shower valve. Water flowed down fast, and steam took over their eyes, they don't only have water, they have hot water. "Hot water," Lily said as she touched the stream of water.

"Yea," Luna simply replied before taking her clothes off and entering the stream of clean water.

The water rained down on her head, running the dirt away from her scalp. The warm inviting sensation brought the dirt, the blood, the death away from her body. It had been so long since she felt this bliss, but the bliss had known to be bait, taking its victims on a joyride of memories they shall never live through again. Luna remembered the chaos that ensued as eleven kids queued up to perform their daily shower rituals. The singing, the crying, the shouting, and the brawl that would end all of it. Tears bubbled in her eyes, seeing those funny faces, running, jumping. In seconds, she started to weep, reminiscing all the sibling meetings they had, all the fun they had.

Walking out with the towel wrapped on her body she saw a stack of clothes on the bench in front of the cubicle, guessing that it was the clothes Brenda had left for them she took it, putting on a beige short-sleeved shirt a size too large, a pair of black jeans uncannily perfect for her, a pair of black over the calf socks and a pair of old army issued combat boots. "A bit loose, but who am I to complain," Luna said to herself as she tied the laces, looping on her ankle. "Lils, you okay back there?" Luna asked as she walked towards the cubicle Lily entered before with clothes Brenda left for Lily. "She pulled a bit of the curtain and saw Lily sitting on the floor as the water intensely rain on her head.

"Enjoying yourself there?" Luna asked with a smile on her face. To which Lily just smiled as she looked at Luna. "Don't be too long okay,"

"okay Lunes," Lily said as Luna left the cubicle frame, much to her surprise Brenda was there behind her, staring with her arms folded. "Hi, Brenda..." Luna stuttered.

"Hi, Jesse," Brenda said as she closed in on Luna, "Other than the fact that you're from Ohio, you didn't say much about Jenny,"

Panicking, Luna put the clothes on the bench she left their other things. "What do you mean by that?" Luna asked. In the brief moment of intense silence, Brenda closed in on Luna.

"Oh don't be too tensed, birthdays are hard to remember," Brenda said with a smile wider than the seven seas combined. Luna sighed in relief. "Come on sit over here," she added as she pats the wooden bench.

"She was born on a summer day," Luna said with a smile as sat down beside Brenda.

"A summer baby," Brenda commented, "Well, that Jenny of yours could use someplace safe to grow up," She said, patting her hand on Luna's shoulder before walking out of the area.

Someplace Safe, for four years they had wandered the wastes, Lily had no friends besides her, will it be good for them to settle down?

Lily stepped out, with a blue T-shirt and a pair of overalls covering her body and a pair of red faded sneakers. "Why do I feel fresh?" Lily asked as she next to Luna.

"You just had a bath," Luna replied with a smile painted on her face. "and you finally smell better than piss,"

"you're the piss here," Lily said with a small chuckle accompanying what she said, "true, I don't smell like piss anymore,"

Luna got off the chair and walked over to the rucksack she brought in, unzipping the front pocket she took out a piece of purple hairband, something she used during her youth ages. "Come on, let's get your hair tied," Luna said before pulling Lily's hair gently, her golden blonde. looping the band, and securing the hair into a ponytail, Like the one Luan had.

"You actually don't look half bad," Luna chuckled.

"Haha, the funny Jesse," Lily sarcastically said.

The two walked out with the rucksack saddled on her back and the handgun holstered on her side, Luna, even after four years of wandering haven't found a holster that would fit her gun, leaving it to be holstered on her waist. The corridor had grew empty, nobody was in sight, from end to end Luna could only see doors and lockers. Nobody was in sight. "Hello?"

"Jesse!" Brenda called out from the far end of the corridor, "It's lunch,"

Hearing the word lunch, Luna patted Lily's shoulder and said, "Race ya," before sprinting towards Brenda.

The feeding area, the cafeteria was large, many were there, eating through their rations which smelled like barbeque, freshly grilled, and they too got what they needed, food and water. After days of not eating Luna froze at the sight of grilled meat strips, served with mashed potatoes and green salad. A meal she thought she would never see again in her life. Lily had munched into her lunch whilst Luna looked at the plate, thinking, remembering the life she had before. Asking herself why mum gave her Lily, was it fate or did she knew what would come next. Her tears fell on the meat, as her quiet cries fill her ear.

"Lu-mom, are you okay?" Lily asked as she puts her fork down. With her small palms, she rubbed Luna's back in hopes that she would come down,"

"You okay Jess?" Brenda asked as she too put her fork down.

"Thanks, Brenda, for giving us a chance," Luna said before taking a bite out of the grilled meat. "this is good,"

"Thanks, Brenda," Lily said as she too started to eat.

The two felt comfortable, and hour by hour the day grew dark, the time when the sun was too afraid to rise and be, leaving those in perches to fend off against the beasts. No use going at night, Luna and Lily spent their first night there, sleeping peacefully, without a care for the world around them. Heaven on earth, unbeknownst to them, a shadow lurked in the room they had rested their mind. Waiting to strike.

Sorry for the delay folks, had some bumps, and also sorry that it's too short, ciao
