"Kid, are you okay?" A dark-skinned man in army uniform asked as the bus parked beside a petrol station, "You must be hungry," he said as he pulled his backpack in front, unzipping it he took out a bag of army rations, "Do you want meatballs or chilli and beans?" the man asked, trying to keep the mood light as some of the passengers got down for a quick restroom stop.

Luna just stared out the window, ignoring the man's questions, her ears were plugged with wired earphones, listening to Mick Swagger's Transformation. When she finally looked at the soldier she said in a cold tone, "My family just died, nine siblings, and two parents went like the wind, please leave me alone,"

The soldier understood her, he wanted to help, "I'm sorry, if you need anything, just call me," he said as he left, the night sky was in a deep shade of black that fateful night, they all could hear the screaming of people in the far distant, begging for their lives, the passengers were shaken but somehow stayed calm.

Luna sighed, the longer she stared outside, the more horror she sees through, her family's faces, turned into mush, devoid of all skin, left with a chunk of meat puree, food for the creatures of the night, one thing was stuck in her mind, why did mum give her Lily? for companionship? or did she get Lucy to read their fates? or did she knew Lily would be a liability, just like me?

With all the questions bubbled in her mind, she couldn't think straight, the music of the past could only do so much to help calm the storm, she had hoped that this was just a dream, she should've taken the news seriously when the bulletin first reported it, now there they are, like sitting ducks waiting for a hunter to blow their heads in. Why would God create those beasts, those vile putrid ugly freaks of nature? Or is it the reckoning? the judgement day where mankind finally kneels down to the Lord after a millennium of stepping on his head.

Luna could hear the people screaming, she couldn't take it anymore, so she turned away, in her arms was Lily, she looked oh so peaceful in her slumber, can innocence survive? it won't, for once after hours of brooding and mourning, Luna smiled at the sight of her sleeping baby sister, today alive, tomorrow gone. Make use of the times left, to get to the Nowhere. "I'm going to keep you safe," Luna said as she cradled Lily tight, "I promise,"

"Tschh!" a flash blinded her.

Like all the promises made, all the promises were broken, Luna sat there on the floor of the book store, looking at the picture, "Lily, I'm going to find you,"

"So your sister is still alive huh?" Riley asked as she sat beside Luna, "We'll get to Huntington to rendezvous, until then, why don't we find her together?"

"Thanks,"
