FILE 001-A FABOULOUS DEAL

15 December 2021, Two weeks after the breakout

Sam's POV

Two weeks. That's the amount of time it took Sam to complete the A.I system needed for what he wants to achieve. The hard part of the task was finally over. He felt relieved for first time in last two weeks.

The fallout from the prison breakout wasn't as bad as he was expecting. He got an earful from Quackity and threats of being kicked out of Las Nevadas if he so much so breathed in wrong direction. He had become one of the most unpopular and disliked members of server perhaps behind Dream due to his "failure in keeping dream in" and more significantly, Ranboo's murder by his hands.

But on the plus side, Quackity still had too much use for Sam to just toss him aside, so Sam was saved from the worst of it. Also, the server was much too busy dealing with the fact that Dream was now out there and wanted revenge on most of the server for his torturous imprisonment.

People like Sapnap, George and Punz, Dream's former friends and allies were perceived to be the most likely ones to be the first ones to suffer from Dream's vengeance as they were the ones who directly betrayed him and thus started bunkering down their valuables in their 'Kinoko Kingdom', the nation they built.

Everyone was preparing for another server wide conflict- it seemed to be inevitable. But the weird part about this was that the man in question whose escape got the server into such a frenzy seemed to be missing.

Aside from Tommy's hysterics about Dream threatening to torture him by killing him and reviving him again and again by using the revival book, no one had heard from Dream. There were no reports of an attack on anyone's property and neither had anyone received any threats by him (at least those Sam knew about).

Given how Tommy was still traumatized from the events of prison back then when he got locked up with Dream for weeks and got killed and then later revived (something Sam still regrets to this day) the general consensus was that Tommy had just been hallucinating and panicking due to Dream breaking out and Dream himself was laying low for now as he lacked allies and resources to start any conflict.

If Sam was being honest with himself, he was terrified at what Dream could have in store for them. He had almost a year of solitude to think and plot and play out all possible scenarios for his vengeance. In hindsight it wasn't wise of them to give Dream this time and solitude. Killing him would have saved the server all this trouble they were facing right now.

It's not like he could go back in past now. No use in lamenting about it.

The other person that Sam was worried about the most, Technoblade, who also had yet to make any moves. There were rumors of him and Phil starting some kind of anarchist organization but Sam personally found it unlikely, given Techno's unpopularity with most of the server, no one would really join. Then again, he got someone like Nikki on his side- someone who was quite against unnecessary violence, the thing that Techno lived for.

The server itself, however, was still very much as tense as the conflict between Las Nevadas and the Outpost had not been resolved, instead have escalated since Tubbo abandoned it and Wilbur took it. Quackity had also become much more paranoid after Purpled's betrayal. And Dream was still out and about, most likely looking for revenge on Quackity for all the painful 'visits' he gave him to get the knowledge of revival book, the thing that started the whole mess in the first place.

Thus, Quackity commissioned Foolish to build a bunker for the citizens of Las Nevadas where all valuables are supposed to be held in case of a war breaking out- which again, seems to be inevitable with server ready to explode. It was like the days of L'Manburg's war for Independence had come back again.

And this brought Sam back to present, where he was in the workshop that Quackity had built for him in Las Nevadas. After the day of the incident, he'd come to Sam's home to 'talk'. From the gist of it he was going to throw Sam under the bus and take all the blame and Sam, in a desperate attempt to save himself, decided to tell Quackity about his project that he was working on the night before.

Quackity at first was understandably skeptical about the whole deal but when he saw the blueprints that Sam created, he was intrigued by them. When Sam told him that the A.I's task was to have enough combat capability to take on both Dream and Techno together Quackity was elated (though he hid it well) at the prospect of finally having a solid counter to two of his worst adversaries together.

He then offered Sam a deal. He could share his invention and technology with Las Nevadas and gain a position of power in future (Given he doesn't mess this opportunity up too) and more importantly get protection from server's populace which still held Sam guilty of letting Dream escape. Additionally, he could gain the resources and tools (of which he would have run out of if he worked alone) he needed to complete the project.

Either that or Quackity had his goons surrounding the building, ready to bomb it into oblivion.

To sweeten the deal, Quackity agreed to take care of his "Michael problem" so that Sam could finally work in piece. He hadn't meant Quackity to know about Michael but it was hard to hide the brat when he was wailing and sobbing all the time. Quackity was understandably confused at first with the whole deal of kidnapping Ranboo's son for leverage but agreed to house the kid in a secured facility he had. They could think about what they would do with Michael later.

For now, there were more important things to consider like what the hell should Sam create the body of the Machine. The A.I was complete and it was the significantly harder part than creating the body.

Or so Sam thought. While netherite was the obvious choice in making the toughest and strongest body possible it wasn't as flexible as he thought. Making a body out of it was impossible so Sam decided to add some other materials to the mix and make an alloy. After trying several combinations with different metals and diamond with different proportions, a tedious task which took him hours, he finally had a combination.

An alloy of Netherite, Iron and some Redstone dust. It needed some specific proportions and smelting the alloy was a pain even with abundance of blast furnace and coal available to him. Finally, by using some lava buckets for smelting he got the desired result.

Now all I need is just replicate the process few times to complete the whole body. Should be completed in a few hours, Sam thought. Given I don't get interrupted.

As if on cue, Quackity barged in the room.

"How is the project coming along, Sam?" Quackity asked, with what seemed to be a fake smile. Sam couldn't tell properly in dark.

"It's going good. I finally found the alloy needed for the body. I just need to replicate it in correct cases and proportions to make the whole body. Testing will take a day, given how many functions I gave to the A.I." Sam replied, not looking up from his work.

"Well, I remember you saying something like that a week ago." Quackity saidstill keeping the fake cheerfulness in his voice. "You do remember what will be the cost of screwing up again don't you? This is your last chance"

With you reminding me about that every couple of days, how could I? Sam thought grumpily thinking back to 'the deal'.

30th November 2021, Early hours in the Morning

"Well, this does seem doable" Quackity said grudgingly keeping the blueprints down. "Still do remember Sam, you screwed up. This is the last chance you get."

"You aren't always this harsh," Sam said lightly.

"I'm not in the best of moods, Sam." Quackity said in an irritated voice "I'm being rather generous here with the whole deal, given the situation that surrounds us. Just remember how much you rely on me for protection. That will perhaps give you the motivation needed to make this toy of yours faster."

"Can't say no to a charming offer like that, can I?" Sam said sarcastically (though he was honestly a bit scared with Quackity's sudden rise of hostility). "Fine, it's a deal. Now will you tell your goons to put their weapons down?"

Back to Present

"Of course, I do remember." Sam said still trying to focus on his work. "And I already told you the delay was caused due to a faulty repeater that your people brought in. Given how I'm not allowed to leave this place to bring parts of my own choice, you can hardly blame me"

"Enough with the excuses, tell me how long it'll really take to develop the machine properly." Quackity said, his façade of cheerfulness breaking.

"As I said earlier, the machine will be ready in few hours as now I've found the alloy for it, and the test will take a whole day. If the machine works well enough in the test, then we have our latest soldier. It will really depend on how well it performs in test"

Quackity hummed in acknowledgement inspecting the blueprints again. Then his eyes went to what was supposed to be 'head' of machine. It was just a screen with a broad base and two green eyes glowing in it.

"Is the A.I functional enough to take commands?" Quackity asked.

"It should be, but given how it doesn't currently have a body it can hardly do any functions you give him, unless of course you want to discuss weather with it." Sam responded absent-mindedly while trying to fix the right arm of the body to chest.

"No need to be snarky with me. Well, I I'll leave you to your work. Ring the bell if you need anything." Quackity turned to leave.

The door slammed shut again.

The Same Day, Nation of Snowchester

Tubbo's POV

"Tubbo, are you really sure about this?" Jack Manifold asked, still trying to digest what he heard.

"I understand you want to get Michael back- we all do, but we are way too outmatched compared to Las Nevadas. Declaring war on them is literally going to be suicide! And do we even know if Sam's the one who kidnapped him?"

"Yes, we do." Tubbo suddenly interrupted Jack between his speech, turning to face the man. "I have enough evidence."

"Can you show it to us then?" Jack's asked.

Tubbo hesitated. He wondered if telling them where, or more exactly, who he got the evidence from would make them instantly quit the nation. They'd know it shortly anyway, so there was no harm in giving them a heads up, right?

"Look Tubbo," Jack said, assuming that the argument about evidence was over. "I know that things have been pretty bad for last two weeks with Ranboo's death and Michael's disappearance but we can't declare war on some half-baked evidence. We will be seen as war mong-

"But we do have more than enough evidence for Ranboo's murder, don't we?" CaptainPuffy pointed out. "Sam killed Ranboo right in front of whole server and he was one of our citizens-"

"It wasn't official! We'll die if we try to fight Quackity and his goons head on!" Jack bellowed trying to put an end to this nonsense.

"Are you saying just because Ranboo wasn't a citizen on paper we'll let Sam get away with his murder?" Puffy said her voice rising in anger and incredulousness." You can't be serious."

"Ranboo was my friend too, and I want to see justice for him but if he was here, he would've been agreeing with me. We can't justify a war for this." Jack retorted, trying to diffuse the situation.

"Then we can ask them to hand over the culprit, and if they don't then that seems to be justifiable reason to go to war with them." Puffy stubbornly argued. "And don't you dare say we're weak against them. We're the ones with a nuke, not them. Tubbo I'm with you on this."

"Have you gone mad Puffy? The only reason we all agreed to make the nukes was to deter others from attacking us and keep our independence. And it's our only one left. We can't use this recklessly. If we do the whole server will unite against us. Please stop this nonsense Tubbo" Jack pleaded. "We'll be slaughtered if we go to war with Las Nevadas. Either by them or the whole server if we use the nuke. You're the leader Tubbo. The final call is yours."

Tubbo, who had been silent throughout the whole exchange, now stood up from his chair and said firmly, "Tomorrow morning, we will go demand the culprit of the murder and Michael to be handed to us to be tried in the court. If Las Nevadas does not hand Sam over, then we will go to war." Hearing this, Jack gave a sigh of defeat and Puffy stoically nodded towards Tubbo.

"But I also agree with Jack that we'll be a toast if we fought them alone. And using the nuke is not an option. Thus, I hired some help. Please don't freak out both of you," Tubbo looked at them sheepishly.

Before Jack and Puffy were able to say anything, the main door to the office opened and three fully armed individuals entered it.

All of them were in full netherite armor and weapons. The first one was a woman with blonde hair standing in the right. On left was a older man with his circular green cap slightly visible underneath his Netherite helmet.

They were Nihachu (To her friends Nikki) and Philza respectively. The former being friendly with quite many in the server while the later infamous for his hand in L'Manburg's destruction and killing of his now revived son Wilbur Soot.

But it was the man in middle that gained attention the most. With his boar tusk covering half of his face and a crown adorning his head instead of a helmet, Technoblade still looked the same as he did on the day of Doomsday.

Before anything can be said a voice interrupted them "Hey guys. Sorry, got a bit interested in the artwork outside"

It was a man trailing into the room standing behind his compatriots. He was wearing netherite armor underneath which, a blue hoodie which was in clear sight.

"Don't worry Connor, you're meeting expectations." Philza responded dryly, casting a glance over his suit.

"Long time no see you guys," Techno said with a smirk. "Heard you people wanted some help in a fight?"

Going against Tubbo's advice, both Jack and Puffy freaked out.

"TUBBO DON'T TELL ME THIS IS THE HELP YOU HIRED!" Jack yelled out taking his sword and shield out.

"Tubbo what are they doing here?" Puffy growled, while pointing her crossbow toward the trio.

"Adding to that, Connor why the hell are you with them?!" Jack exclaimed.

"It's a long story, man. I can tell you about it later." Connor said airily.

"I can explain myself guys. Well except for Connor part as I don't know about it either." Tubbo said trying to calm his friends down "But we can't talk if all of you have your weapons out, can we?"

Well, that could have gone worse Tubbo thought as everyone starting settling down with varying degree of reluctance. We'll be there soon Michael, just hang in there.

16th December, Las Nevadas (Early hours of Morning)

Sam's POV

Sam was feeling the effects of sleep deprivation now. His eyes were feeling heavy and his limbs had almost given up. The sun wasn't up yet but he could tell the day has changed from the clock on the wall. Still, he had work to do.

The body was assembled. Now came the most delicate part. Attaching the head containing the A.I with the body without screwing the redstone wiring up. He needed to be careful with this or else weeks of hard work would go to waste.

Taking the head off his table, Sam walked towards the assembled body and slowly started attaching it to the body. It went in slowly and after tinkering with some screws to tighten the grip between the head and body, Sam put in the last bit of redstone needed to power up the machine.

Watching it with tense eyes Sam took a step back hoping that it was enough.

If the machine didn't work, he was a dead man.

Finally, there was rush of voices. Grinding and groaning of metal against metal could be heard. Then, on the screen on head two green eyes appeared and a robotic voice could be heard saying "Overkill version 1.0 has been booted up. Power systems: online, Combat functions: online, Redstone Charge: 100%"

"It worked," Sam murmured to himself disbelievingly as he marveled at his creation. "It actually worked!"

It looked just like Sam had envisioned it. The machine, Overkill as he named it, had a head which looked like one of those old styled but with two green eyes displayed in the screen. From neck down it had black body made of the alloy with grey stripes on its shoulders and arms. From bottom down he had pants made of pure netherite. Its hands were morphed in a way that they could change into netherite sword and axe or shield, depending on the situation.

The hardest part was designing an A.I which could have capability of understanding the complex nature of combat and which kind of weapons, strategies and calculations were viable for an ongoing battle. It took Sam some trial and error but he found the perfect code to make Overkill.

It was the perfect war machine.
And it was going to be Sam's legacy, something he didn't really have aside from a grim prison (Something Quackity loved to point out in his conversations with him).

But now he had created perhaps the greatest fighter in the server's history.

"No immediate objectives have been given. Mission objective required for further functions." The robotic voice spoke up breaking Sam out of his daze.

"H-huh? Oh yeah. The commands." Sam said still trying to process his achievement. "Well let's start with something basic. Follow me."

"Understood." Overkill began walking behind Sam who was going towards the exit door.

As Sam was going to ring the bell near the door to summon someone, Quackity slammed the door open with a deafening bang, knocking Sam down in the process.

He really needs to learn how to knock a door Sam thought, irritated.

"SAM! We have a situa- what the hell is that? Quackity asked incredulously, looking disheveled and still in his nightclothes.

"What do you think?" Sam retorted, standing up and brushing his clothes. "Overkill is complete now. I was going to ring the bell to show it to you just now."
"Overkill, is that really what you named it? A bit presumptuous of you." Quackity said eyeing up the machine from all sides.

"Tch, I can't name my own creation now? And it is a good name" Sam said getting defensive over his choice of name.

"Sure it is. How well does it work?" Quackity said still looking towards Overkill.

"I just completed it. I said testing will take a day and I am on schedule for it. What bought you here though? Must have been urgent enough for you to come in your nightclothes." Sam said.

Quackity remembered the purpose of his visit and got serious.

"Yeah, it is quite urgent. Snowchester wants to negotiate your extradition from here to their nation to try you for Ranboo's murder and kidnapping Michael whom they are asking to be given back unharmed, and I am of course not extraditing you," Quackity said putting his hand up to silence Sam before he could pitch his protest. "or giving the scamp back this easily. Also, I am not in mood of seeing you butchered by those weaklings."

"Thank-"

"No time for this, they're threatening war with us if we don't comply." Quackity said.

"But they're nowhere near as powerful as we are. What's the fuss about?" Sam questioned.

"Well, you see," Quackity grimly started to reply "The problem is that Technoblade and his merry band of misfits was with Tubbo in the call and apparently they're siding with Snowchester. All of them are not happy with you killing Ranboo for no apparent reason, other than a leverage against Dream who didn't care about him from beginning"

"In my defense, they seemed like they were friends with amount of time Ranboo had visited Dream." Sam said, trying not to panic at the thought of Technoblade wanting to kill him specifically.

"As I have said earlier, you screwed up." Quackity said rolling his eyes at the lame excuse. "Anyway, get your Machine or Overkill whatever it is, ready for battle. I can't stall them for too long in the negotiations."

"What the hell are you talking about? I haven't even tested it. I told you I need a day for it." Sam said incredulously.

"You can't ask for a better test than this Sam. You created Overkill for the purpose of killing Dream and Techno, right? Well, here is it's chance." Quackity said turning back towards the exit. "I've alerted the other members of Las Nevadas. I can give you an hour at best to stall them in the talks. They're coming right at the border as we speak. All the best, you need it,"

"No pressure, right?" Sam responded dryly though internally he was hyperventilating at the near impossible task he was given.

Quackity just left instead of answering the question.

Now Sam looked towards the robot, who for entire exchange stood behind him without any words.

"Well, Overkill I guess we have a long road ahead of us." Sam told the machine "Follow me."

"Understood, sir." Overkill complied.

As the sun started to rise through the horizon, Sam wondered if it would be the last sunrise he'd see. Well, no time to waste.

With the motivation of 'not wanting to die' Sam got to work.

That sunrise might turn out his last but he will damn well make sure his legacy survives the day.

A/N

I hope you guys liked the chapter. And yeah, the idea I teased you all about in last A/N was Overkill, from the name of the fic and the theme you might have guessed that it will be our main lead. And don't worry it will not be a blank slated robot for the whole story (He is the protagonist duh).

And thank you Lunar Frost for allowing me to borrow this idea of yours. Yes, if you haven't guessed it, Lunar was the one who created the concept of the character Overkill and will be helping with future dialogues of the character.

AND FLIPPY AND LION MAN here! We're the editors for the fic (we correct spelling mistakes + incorrect intonation/tense + literally every other little error cursus makes.) It's flippy speaking (cursus didn't write this) but I still wanna be credited for a ton of stuff I wrote so huge L.

Uh yeah thank you for acting like I wouldn't have credited you Flippy. Anyways moving on-

Update schedule: As a weekly upload the next chapter should be uploaded on 14/01/2022

And for the bit about Connor please bear with me making him another member of Syndicate because I have no idea what is the deal with him. My personal theory is that the writers were drinking too much at the time of writing this and decided to go with the flow. Or they want to mess with us. Anyway, he won't be there for comedic effect. He is gonna have some motivations as straight forward as they are gonna be.

Any reviews and constructive criticism are heartily appreciated.
