Chapter #4
The figure stepped forward.
Their armor was covered in gilded metal spikes and covered with protect plates, everything was painted a dark black. On their head wore a helm decorated with white feathers, and a big thick tattered cloak wrapped around their body. Three pairs of dark feathery wings came out of the figure's back, with painted eyes. They slowly approached the man, each step forward made him more cautious. Rain has started falling since he escaped those hordes of dead, the teardrops made it harder to see the figure eagerly walking toward him. The armored figure stepped in front of the man, glaring at him for a long moment.
"Are you…okay?"
The figure said.
The man was too confused and frightened to say and word.
Who is this man? I can understand his words?
"Wow…you are not in good shape, why does your face…have horns?
Horns? The man had never seen his face during the time he was in the forest, But he has horns coming out his head?
"H -horn's…?"
The man answered.
"Do you need help going back to where you live? Where do you live?"
"I d-on't...know."
"What?"
"How do you not know?"
"I...don't think I know…anything."
"Really? You don't have any memory whatsoever?"
"..."
"Maybe we should bring you to the kingdom. Get you healed up and see what's with you there."
The kingdom? The man thought. What Kingdom?
"Do you want to?"
"O-...okay." He answered.
"It'll take some time to get back to the ship, come on."
The man barely had any energy to walk, but he had no choice. If we waited any longer here, the monsters would surely find him lingering around. He hadn't paid much of any attention to what clothing he was wearing. It was some tattered royal blue cape that lightly drooped over him like a curtain, the edges were sewed with shimmering gold outlines. That's...nice. He thought. The two of them strolled down the meadow, the cold droplets of rainwater pattered down his face and body, each one giving a little sting once it hit the skin. The man felt at peace for a few moments, no curiosity was in his head, no imminent death, and danger. The frigid, cold atmosphere made him more relaxed than disturbed. Little slithers of cautiousness and anxiety still showed when questioning who this armored person was, but he'd rather follow a stranger than be running from undead.
"When did you come here? From the dungeon?"
"I don't know when…I just woke up."
The two were silent for a moment. There wasn't much they needed to talk about. The man was still trying to comprehend what they were up to. He could see some sort of triangular shape in the distance. "We're near the ship, just some more." They said. The man was surprisingly intrigued by what laid in front of them. It was a wood-crafted ship, an array of vast light-tan sails covered the top, with a pair of 5 paddles under. steel decorations were fixed on the railings and canon holes. A giant skull was embedded in the front, with eerie blinking orange eyes.
It seemed like the ship was alive, the way the eyes blinked and followed the man around. It magically floated above the ground, the man wasn't sure how it did that but he decided it was better not to ask questions.
"Come one, hop aboard." the armored man said.
"Okay…"
The two climbed up the staircase connecting the ship, the rope that tethered it to the ground snapped apart and they took off. The ship raised from hovering and rowed above the air. Everything fell silent, the pattering rain and the kranking of the ship's paddles were the only sound alive.
"Do you know you're name?" said the stranger.
"No…"
"Well, I guess you'll need to try to find out or make a new one. We can't just call you with no label at the kingdom."
"Gosh, I haven't told you who I am. I'm Kade Mason, the main melee of Lord Yharim's elite warriors."
"...Yharim?"
"You'll get a chance to meet him one day."
"How long, will it take to get there?" The man said.
"Probably an hour or so," Kade replied. "There're shafts under the deck if you wanna get outta the rain."
"It's...okay. I'd rather...stay outside"
"Okay, I guess… suit yourself."
The dank floorboards paired with the cold wind a rain made him feel...like he was home. Every freezing cold drop of rain made him relaxed and calm. The ambient darkness of the sky added another layer of comfort over him, the five moons beamed through the thick sheet of clouds, followed by a million stars. Kade opened the top deck's door and headed inside. The man felt worried about what he is getting into. Kade said nothing of what this kingdom was and what it's like there, but he was too anxious to ask questions. It was okay, he barely liked to ask any questions of anything, it was more of his nature to like to find out himself. The man could see some building in the distance now. The ship had flown to a lush, green rainforest. The canopy of vivid trees draped over the landscape like a blanket of moss, mountains of stone were covered in foliage and trees. The rain had mysteriously calmed down and disappeared in reaching the area, which the man found upsetting. There were 2 other identical ships floating around in the distance, all flying in the same direction. They flew closer to the building in the distance until the man could finally see it with detail.
"..."
It was a whole entire kingdom. A giant barrier built out of some sort of orange stone that stretched beyond the world surrounded an eternity of houses and buildings, hundreds of crossroads scattered all around them. An enormous castle lied with the center, built out of the same orange rock. Each of the towers was decorated with statues and sculptures, every staircase, bridge, and buttress were neatly carved as perfectly as possible. The stained glass windows were all formed and painted into mosaics.
"Flashy, isn't it?" said Kade.
"Yea...It's quite the sight to behold."
