Just like I have tweaked the angels, I have also tweaked the demons to be more frightening/challenging/stronger.

ANGELIC FURY

Ariel knew that confronting Yana alone is not the smartest decision, but like her younger brother, she at times finds herself consumed with the selfish need to start a fight by herself. Confront her demons. Especially one so focused on ruining her life - her family - her home. The idea that the demon responsible for so much was so close is just too much for her to ignore. This demon put her - her family - her Carlisle - through so much pain that she finds that now she feels the need to act on the vengeance that her father made her for.

Yana appears to be alone. The demon is easy to spot in the trees, having made no move to really conceal herself. Her features are sharp, contrasted with the dark shadows casted on her face. Despite the way she appears human, Ariel knows immediately what she really is. She knows her true nature, knows how it's shown itself through the things that Yana ultimately pulled the strings for.

"Yana."

Ariel shows no fear - instead, it is rage that starts to boil under her skin. Her voice comes off cold, detached and sharp as it resonates through the area like a holy presence. She circles around Yana discreetly, treading carefully like a predator on the hunt. Making sure that she won't be able to make any escape.

"Finally." Yana seems unconcerned with the angel, instead grinning maniacally as she tosses her hands into the air. The demon's short close haircut only accentuates the sharpness of her jaw in a way that makes it feel as if she could unhinge it at any moment. "I was wondering how long it would take you to notice me. Or did it take you this long to find the courage to finally see me?"

Yana turns to face her more head on, the gleam in her eyes is challenging, edging Ariel on as she practically begs her to take the bait. Ariel grits her teeth, her jaw locking.

"Don't mistake my patience for fear," Ariel finally answers, her voice cutting through the night air. "Angels can wait forever, you know. Demons… Well, I suppose it depends on how well they behave, doesn't it? I can't say my brother is pleased with your behavior."

The threat is clear - direct. Ariel doesn't bother with underlying tones or trying to form fancy words over it, she makes it clear that Yana should know by now that Lucifer knows what she has been up to. And if the demon is smart, if it values whatever it is that it calls its life, it should fear that. For a moment, Ariel sees it. The flicker of fear and uncertainty in Yana's eyes. The hesitation. But Yana covers it up quickly, carrying on easily as if she wasn't just threatened.

"What Lucifer wants or doesn't want won't matter anymore if you're on the throne. I'd do it myself, you know, but no wings - " Yana gestures behind her back with a feigned hurt expression.

Ariel scoffs, her voice turning bitter as the small bit of control she has starts to come loose. She lunges for Yana with no hesitation, hand gripped tight around the demon's throat. Yana barely struggles, accepting the way that Ariel pins her to the tree.

"I'm the one who almost had no wings," Ariel's voice teeters on a growl, deepening into a low tone. Her face is inches away from Yana, head tilting. When the light of the stars comes through the brush just enough, her eyes gleam in the night, pupils dilated.

"But I suppose your plans don't work out well for you considering that didn't work and I am very tempted to send you to hell myself."

Yana still seems unbothered, grinning, almost thrilled at the position she is in; as if she takes glee in it. Her face turns toward Ariel as much as she can, struggling to do so as Ariel's nails dig into her neck; it bleeds, but what's one more injury to an already dead corpse? As she turns, the shadows casted on her seem to melt into her skin. Her jaw unhinging as her true face comes to form, skin rotting with dark pits at her eyes.

"And what's stopping you? Do you enjoy me so much? Finally willing to listen to my proposal? Interested to know why I'm not the only one who thinks you'd be much better suited in Hell than your brother?"

Her voice is distorted and comes out mangled due to the disfigurement of her jaw and tongue, but Ariel shows no reaction. Demonic faces have never bothered her and they never will . Not when she knows that she can beat them - make them suffer - just like she will with Yana.

Ariel growls, her grin turning feralistic, "Oh no, I just wanted to have some fun before you get your punishment."

Ariel tosses Yana as if she weighs nothing, the demon going through the air before hitting a tree with a sick thud. As Yana is dazed, Ariel makes no hurry. She casually walks to the demon, brushing off her nails as if it is inconvenient.

"I think you'll find that I'm much harder for you when I'm not drugged." Ariel snides as she reaches Yana, the demon has barely recovered from the force from the throw before Ariel is already picking her up again. "And I don't appreciate anything you've been doing to me."

She thrashes her into a tree, her grip still tight around Yana's throat, tossing her around like nothing more than a ragdoll "-to my family."

Yana's grin is disgusting, in more ways than one. She's been forced back into her disguise to keep her jaw from falling off completely, her mouth full of blood. But she still continues smiling. As if she enjoys everything that Ariel is doing and the thought only infuriates Ariel more.

"-to Carlisle."

Ariel growls his name, her nails digging into the demon's throat. Yana laughs even as Ariel tosses her into another tree. The tree breaks as she hears her bones crack.

"I knew you still had feelings for that thing - your breakup almost had me convinced too. What is it about these humans - these what are they, vampires? Earth has done nothing but corrupt you like you did Lucifer. Convinced you that you're something you're not."

Yana stands up, brushing herself off as she pops her bones back into place. Ariel walks toward her as Yana faces her evenly, grin never leaving her face even as Ariel's contorts into a feral anger.

"Really? The angel of vengeance, the same one who slaughtered humans just because they ruined God's perfect garden, is a nurse in some honky-tonk town. Who are you kidding?"

When Ariel lunges for again, Yana is ready. She turns at the last moment and draws out the second knife to her pair, slashing out at the angel. It goes deep into Ariel's side, digging into her skin and flesh, and Yana yanks it out to see it bleed. Ariel lets out a muffled grunt at the injury, turning sharply on the demon just in time to see her lick the blood off her weapon.

"You bitch."

Ariel's wings flurl out in a rage, feathers ruffling. For a brief moment, their appearance throws the demon off - Ariel sees it in her eyes as she takes a step back, and she takes that opening to lunge again, using her wings to propel herself forward. Yana attempts to dodge, her speed only proving that she did the right thing by not involving the Cullens. Even Ariel barely keeps up, but as the two become blurs, a mix of doding and lunging, she eventually gains the upper hand.

Ariel's hand squeezes around Yana's throat as she hisses threats and curses at the demon. Yana just grins maliciously as she swings her knife at Ariel's throat. Ariel screams, the sound echoing through the forest as she releases the demon. Her hand goes to her throat. The shallow cut burns and bleeds, but she keeps her eyes on Yana, lunging after her with a hard swing of her fist.

Ariel can feel someone else making their way through the forest, the ground shaking. It's just enough of a distraction for Yana to get her bearings, but Ariel focuses on the presence. She feels a hard lump form in her throat, when she swallows it, it creates a solid mass in her stomach. She knows in her bones who it is that is coming and she has no chance to give them a warning as Yana grins manically, taking off toward the presence immediately.

Carlisle.
