The next morning, Adrien was sitting in school next to Nino and for some reason, his mind wandered to the night before. Not the time he'd spent with Ladybug, but the time he'd spent with Marinette. Why had he spent so long after fretting about things he'd said or done. Why had he spent most of the night thinking about how he'd kissed her hand and worrying about what it might mean. It didn't mean anything. Right?

His thoughts were cut short when he saw Marinette enter the classroom, talking with Alya. She wasn't wearing anything particularly special, just her usual flower shirt and jacket, but he couldn't take his eyes off her. They followed her all the way to her seat where she sat down and noticed him staring. "Go…good…uhm…good morning Adrien."

He tried to say it back but he couldn't make his voice work so he just waved and smiled and turned around quickly. 'Stupid, stupid, stupid,' he thought. 'Now you've made a fool of yourself.'

'Wait, why did I mind? She was a great friend but why was I so bothered?'. He turned around and saw that her face was bright red. He felt his own blush start to creep up and turned around quickly. "F*ck she's cute."

"What did you say?" He seemed to realise that Nino was right next to him.

"Nothing," he said quickly, his blush deepening.

Nino smiled and said, "Ok. If you say so."

Suddenly, the door slammed open and Lila stumbled into the classroom. She leaned on Adrien's table to support herself. She was covered in bruises and had a nasty looking cut above her right eye.

"My God, Lila, what happened!?" Nino exclaimed, concerned for the young girl.

"Marinette attacked me," Lila claimed, pointing at the girl in question.

"What!?" half the class screamed while the other half turned to glare at Marinette.

Max stood up from his seat and rushed to the front of the classroom, his bag gripped tightly in his hand. "Don't worry everyone. I learnt first aid this weekend."

Mme Bustier turned to Marinette angrily. "Explain yourself, Marinette."

She took a strained breath and asked through gritted teeth, "When did this happen Lila?"

Lila limped around the desk and sat on Mme Bustier's seat. "Like, 10 minutes ago, why?"

Alya looked up confused. "But Marinette has been with me and Nino all morning."

Rose spoke up next. "And I saw you in the bathroom five minutes ago uninjured."

"Well it's not like I timed it and Marinette might have slipped away or something."

Before she could say anything else Max asked, "How come there's no injury? This is just makeup."

The children all gasped as Lila shouted, "What are you talking about you incompetent *ss!?" in a very panicked voice. "I mean, surely you missed something."

Obviously shocked by her outburst, Max took a second to respond. "No, I'm 100% sure that you are completely uninjured."

Lila looked around the class nervously. "I…"

"Why would you lie to us, Lila?" Alya demanded.

"Um…"

"I've been meaning to ask you, which ear is your tinnitus in?" Chloe asked in an interrogative tone with a smirk on her face.

Lila looked at her confused. "My left, but I don't see-"

"Then why did you say Ladybug got an earplug for your right?" Chloe interrupted.

"I…"

Marinette started to catch on to what Chloe was doing. "How did you get your tinnitus, by the way?"

"I saved Jagged's cat from a plane engine."

Mme Bustier seemed to be getting rather angry at the exchange. "That's enough intrusive questions," she ordered, but Chloe ignored her.

"But tinnitus is from repeated loud noises, fact-check me, Max, if you feel like it."

"Stop with the interrogation, Chloe!" Kim insisted. "What is all this about?"

"No, no, she's right. Plus, a plane engine would likely cause total hearing loss."

Juleka seemed to remember something and leaned forward on her desk. "My brother said that Jagged was deathly allergic to animal fur."

Marinette grinned. "Didn't Jagged write a song for you for saving his cat? What was that called?"

"I… uh… I… forgot?" Lila stammered out.

The students were getting suspicious and Mme Bustier was standing back watching the exchange with interest now.

"So a famous singer writes a song about you and you forget what it's called? Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous." Chloe mocked.

Max took out his laptop before saying, "I can find it on the internet. Just give me a minute."

Lila shook her head violently. "There's no need to-"

"Don't worry, it's no problem."

The class waited in utter silence as Max searched the web. A confused look came over his face. "That's funny, there's no song written by Jagged for Lila or anyone except Ladybug for that matter. And I can confirm what Juleka said, Jagged is deathly allergic to animal fur and has had his crocodile for fifteen years.

Lila was speechless. She looked around the classroom, hoping for support but everyone just looked at her expectantly. "I… erm…"

Adrien, who had previously been sitting uncomfortably in his seat, interrupted her before she could go any further. "I also got her to admit to her lie that got Marinette temporarily expelled and forced her to correct it."

Mme Bustier waited a minute to see if anyone else had anything to say before stepping forward and glaring at Lila. "Lila, is there something you would like to tell us?"

"No," she answered instantly.

"The principal will have to get involved, you know."

In Hawk Moth's lair, a large, circular window was starting to open. "Aah, the disappointment of having your lies uncovered. Months of work spinning this intricate web only to have it torn down in minutes. This is the perfect opportunity to regain an ally, more powerful than before. Fly away my little akuma and give her the powers she deserves."
