Three days later Chat woke up in the hospital. He looked around scared for a moment until he remembered what happened. Looking down, he saw Ladybug sleeping on his chest peacefully. He smiled to himself. Ladybug slowly began to wake up. "Good morning Bugaboo."

Groggily, Ladybug replied with, "I told you not to call me that." She realised where she was resting her head and panicked. She pushed herself up while blushing. "Sorry… I." She tried to put weight on her broken arm out of habit and immediately collapsed back down. Chat Noir laughed and put his arm around her.

"Don't be. You looked so peaceful while you were asleep." He smiled at her before nodding to the cast. "What happened to your arm?"

"Nothing, you just squeezed a bit too hard after you were shot" Ladybug explained.

Chat Noir looked mortified, "I am so sorry Ladybug!"

"It's fine," Ladybug reassured him, "Besides, you were shot, I believe that gives you the right to squeeze my hand hard, it'll be fine in a few days"

Chat Noir remembered something and smiled mischievously "I think we have something to talk about, don't you?"

Ladybug looked at him confused. "What do you mean?"

"Don't remember? Allow me to jog your memory, princess."

Ladybug's eyes widened in realisation. "Oh my God! You must be disappointed then," she muttered in a dejected tone.

"Quite the opposite Mi'Lady. I've never been more attracted to you."

"What? Really!?"

"Really."

"I guess I should tell you that I'm also in love with you."

"Really Bugaboo? You finally fell for my feline charm?"

"I guess. I fell for your secret identity first but I've recently fallen for Chat too."

"Since when?" Chat asked curiously.

"Since that night when you came over after I rejected you" Ladybug answered.

"Ugh, all this lovey-dovey stuff is making me queasy," Plagg complained. The pair turned to the foot of the bed where the two kwamis were watching them.

Tikki smacked him in the back of the head. "Oh shut up Plagg, before they woke up, you were gushing at how cute they were. Don't try to deny it."

Plagg sighed. "Fine, I'm glad you're ok Chat, without you no one would be able to give me Camembert."

Tikki smacked him again. "Please, you're happy he's alive. I had to force-feed you, you were so worried about Chat." She turned to the hero. "He's never turned down a piece of Camembert in his life."

Chat smiled. "Thanks, Plagg. Your concern warms my heart."

"If you're done, I need to change Chat Noir's dressings." A voice said from the doorway. They looked behind them to see the paramedic standing there watching them while leaning on the doorframe. While the paramedic changed Chat's dressings, they turned on the tv to catch up on the news.

"Don't be bemused, it's just the news." Nadja Chamack said as she appeared on the tv. A scene of Chat Noir showed on the screen, causing the cat in question to grimace. "After the disaster 3 days ago, we have been informed that Chat Noir is stable and currently recovering. He is being cared for by a dedicated team of doctors in an undisclosed location. We are yet to receive an official statement from Ladybug, who has been with Chat Noir for the whole 3 days; or the new team of superheroes, who have been protecting Paris until they return." A picture of a large group of superheroes came on screen, running along a rooftop during patrol. "Further news, the shooter, Lila Rossi, has been detained and is being deported back to Italy, where she will likely be kept in a juvenile detention facility until she's old enough to be moved to a proper prison. She has already been placed on the international terrorist watchlist and has been banned from ever setting foot in France again."

"Well thank God for that," Ladybug muttered to herself as she held Chat's hand.

He nodded in agreement before asking, "you left them with the miraculous? I thought it was dangerous to have this many out for so long."

"Yeah, well, it's a hell of a lot safer than leaving Paris undefended except for me with a broken hand and you with a bullet wound. Besides, I thought we could use a break and therefore some substitutes were required." The paramedic stood up after cutting and tying the bandages. "All done. Your injury appears to be healing very quickly and from the looks of it you'll be out of hospital very soon." She walked out of the room, leaving the two to talk in peace.

Three days prior, the rest of the heroes were looking down on the team of paramedics surrounding their friend.

"What do we do now?" Ryuko asked first.

Rena Rouge landed next to her after getting footage for Ladyblog. "I'm not sure."

"There is a 99% chance that Ladybug will not leave Chat's side until he's better," Pegasus told them. "Until then, we must protect Paris in their stead."

King Monkey nodded before adding, "and the Miraculous."

"Since we already know Luka, Marinette and Adrien are Viperion, Ladybug and Chat Noir respectively, it's only fair if we all know each other's identities too," Carapace suggested. He looked around and saw that the rest were agreeing.

"There's no one I would trust more with this secret," Ryuko told them. "Ladybug chose her teammates well."

"We should do it with Ladybug and Chat Noir," Viperion told them.

Carapace noticed that Chloe had been rather quiet. "Queen Bee, what do you think?"

She looked round like she hadn't noticed they were talking until just then. "Pardon?"

"What were you looking at?" Carapace asked.

Queen Bee looked back across the street to where the old man was standing. "Don't you see-" the man put his finger to his lips. "-never mind. It's nothing." He gestured towards the Eiffel Tower. "I've got to go." She swung away with her spinning top in the direction of the Tower.

King Monkey looked after her. "Anyone know what that was about?" The rest of the heroes shook their heads.

Queen Bee landed on a metal support next to the old man. He was sat looking out over Paris. "Looks like you did it. You saved Paris and became a hero," he said. He smiled at her warmly, his eyes brimming over with pride and compassion as if from an infinite well. "Well done Chloe."

She allowed herself a grin before looking at him curiously. "Who are you?"

"Why don't you try and answer that yourself?"

"Well, you can't be real, because no old man could climb the Eiffel Tower, so you must be inside my head. But I can't think of anything more than that."

The man looked at her conspiratorially. "Who said I can't be both?"

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"All you need to know is that I'll always be here if you need help."

"Here as in at the Eiffel Tower or here as in with me?"

"Now that, Chloe Bourgeois, is the right question."

The man disappeared in front of her leaving Chloe sat there in confusion. "Well, bye then, Grandpa," she muttered to herself as she sat there.
