Ch 3
Peter and Ned were going into their bed when Ned was tranquilized by Nick Fury.
"So nice to finally meet you, Spider-Man." Nick Fury said as he sat on the bed.
"You're Nick Fury" Peter said. " Put some clothes on, let's go for a ride." Fury said as he made his way towards the door. Hesitating, Peter asked "Is he going to be okay like this?" referring to Ned lying on the floor. "You might wanna roll him over so he doesn't bite his tongue." Fury joked. "C'mon Spidey. Let's go."
Later, they were at the SHIELD base. Fury introduced Peter to Maria Hill, Dimitri, and Quentin Beck who was Mysterio.
"You handled yourself well out there today. I saw what you did with the tower. We could use someone like you on my world." Quentin said.
"Thanks." Peter said. "I'm sorry. Your world?"
"Mr. Beck is from Earth, just not yours." Fury said.
"There are multiple realities, Peter." Beck explained. "This is Earth-616, I'm from Earth-838."
"I'm sorry, you're saying there's a multiverse?" Peter asked. "That changes how we understand initial singularity, we're talking about an eternal inflation system and hwo does that even work with all the quantum - it's insane. Sorry. It's just really cool."
"Don't ever apologize for being the smartest one in the room." Beck said. Peter smiled.
"Anyway." Hill said before turning on a hologram of the Elementals.
"They were born in stable orbits within black holes. Creatures formed from Earth's primary elements, air, water, fire, earth." Beck explained. "The science division had a technical name. We just called them Elementals."
"Versions of them exist across our mythologies." Hill added.
"Like Thor." Peter said. "He was a myth and now I study him in my physics class."
"These myths are threats." Fury said.
"They first materialized on my Earth many years ago." Beck explained as a hologram of his Earth appeared. "We mobilized and fought them but with each battle they grew, got stronger. I was part of the last battalion left trying to stop them. All we did was delay the inevitable."
As he spoke, a wave of fire engulfed his Earth.
"The Elementals are here now, attacking the same coordinates. Our satellites confirm it." Hill said.
"So thank Mr. Beck for destroying the other three." Fury said. "There's only one left, fire."
"The strongest of them all. The one that destroyed my Earth." Beck added. The digital Earth crumbled and fell apart. "It's the one that took my family."
Peter noticed a wedding ring on Beck's finger.
"I'm sorry."
"And it will be in Prague in approximately 48 hours." Hill said.
"Wait, Prague? Sir, there's gotta be someone else you can use." Peter said to Fury. "What about Thor?"
"Off-world." Fury replied.
"Okay, Doctor Strange."
"Unavailable." Hill said.
"Iron Man."
"Also unavailable." Fury said.
"Captain Marvel."
"Don't invoke her name."
"I really wanna help but if my aunt finds out that I left this class trip, she's gonna find out and then my class will find out and then the whole world will find out and then I'm done."
"Okay, I understand."
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Why don't you get back before your teachers become suspicious? Dimitri, take him back to the hotel, please."
"Yes." Dimitri said.
"Thanks, Mr. Fury." Peter said. "Good luck."
"See you, kid." Beck said.
"See you." Peter said. "Bye, ma'am."
"Yeah." Hill said.
Now Peter could finally focus on his vacation and getting MJ.
