Gaara stirred awake and blinked his eyes open in the sunlit room. His eyes falling on Sakura's sleeping form. Her hair was sprawled around her, covering her face slightly. He smiled at her and gently moved her hair away from her face. Memories of last night filling his mind. The dinner, the awkward conversations, to Sakura in his arms, saying yes to being in a relationship. He gently kissed her forehead, and moved away carefully, making sure not to wake her up.
He grabbed his boxers and slipped into them and made his way to her bathroom. He used the bathroom, washed his face and rinsed his mouth with the mouthwash. He walked towards her room, finding her still asleep, he smiled and made his way downstairs into her kitchen. He started the coffee machine, grabbed two mugs, and placed one under the machine, letting it fill with black coffee, before changing the cartridge to a cappuccino one and filling the next mug. From the cupboard, he pulled out the sugar. He scooped three spoonsful of sugar into the drink and stirred it.
With the drinks ready, he made his way back up to the room and placed down the mugs on the bedside table and sat on the bed. He placed a hand on her shoulder and gently shook, "Sakura."
Sakura stirred and blinked her eyes open and smiled at Gaara, "hi."
"Hi," he smiled back, and moved his hand to her face, moving her hair out of the way, "I made you coffee."
"Thanks," Sakura said and sat up. She pulled the covers over her naked body.
Gaara handed her over the mug, before grabbing his own, "I added sugar, hopefully the right amount."
Sakura took a sip and sighed in content, "it's perfect, thank you."
"You're welcome," he took a sip of his own drink and draped his free hand around Sakura, "how'd you sleep?"
"Really well," Sakura looked at him, blushing slightly as memories of their tussle in the sheets filled her mind. "You?"
"Like a baby," he stroked her cheek gently.
Sakura smiled at him, "that's good." She took another sip of her drink, placing her head against his shoulder and sighing happily. "What do you want to do today?" She asked after a few minutes, looking up at him.
Gaara looked at her and smirked, watching as her cheeks reddened further. "I can think of a few things."
Sakura bit her bottom lip, her mind conjuring up images of them in throes of passion. "Like what?" her question coming out breathy.
"Have breakfast," he smiled at her.
"Oh…" Sakura said, her brow furrowing slightly.
Gaara chuckled lightly, "what did you have in mind?"
Sakura shook her head, "nothing," she placed the mug against her lips and took a sip, averting her gaze, not wanting him to read the thoughts she was sure were displayed on her face.
Gaara kissed the side of her head, "what would you like to do?"
Sakura thought about it. There was so much they could do, go out for a walk or go out to a restaurant or a look around town, but what she really wanted was to stay here and spend the day with him. "How do you feel about staying in?" She looked at him.
"What have you got in mind?"
"A lazy day," she took another sip of her coffee.
Gaara looked at her questioningly, "what?"
Sakura raised an eyebrow, "you've never had a lazy day?"
He shook his head in reply.
"We're having one today," Sakura smiled wide at him. "No work, no nothing, just sit and watch tv and maybe dose off."
"Sounds good," he smiled at her, "to a lazy day," he pressed his mug against hers.
Sakura smiled and finished off her coffee before getting off the bed with the covers around her. She grabbed a pair of shorts, a top and her underwear and made her way to the bathroom. Even though they had slept together a few times, she still felt shy around him. She started the shower and let the cover drop and got under the lukewarm spray. She had a quick shower and dried herself before dressing.
Back in her room, Gaara had made her bed and was wearing his trousers and shirt. "More coffee?" he held up the mugs.
Sakura smiled and nodded, "yes please."
Together they made their way to her kitchen, where Gaara made the drinks, while Sakura grabbed ingredients from the fridge and began to cook breakfast.
"How do fried eggs and bacon sound?" she asked over her shoulder.
"They sound great," Gaara placed her coffee next to her. "Can I help with anything?"
"No, thanks," Sakura smiled at him, "I've got it." She cracked four eggs in a pan and placed a few rashers of bacon under the grill. She grabbed the bread and placed two slices into the toaster and turned to look at Gaara, her mug in her hands. She took a sip and sighed happily.
"Is the coffee okay?"
"It's perfect," she smiled at him.
The toast popped up and she grabbed it out, placing it on a plate and added another two in. She plated up two eggs and a few rashers of bacon on the plate and handed it over to Gaara. She fished out a knife and fork and placed it beside the plate, "dig in," she smiled.
With her toast ready, she plated her breakfast and sat next to Gaara at the small table in the kitchen. They ate quietly and every now and then, stole glances of one another. With breakfast over, Gaara took the plates, followed by the pan, and placed them into the sink and ran the hot water.
"I can do that," Sakura walked towards him, placing her empty mug on the counter.
"It's the least I can do after you cooked such a delicious breakfast," he smiled at her, and began washing the plates and pan, placing them on the drying rack.
Sakura looked at him and smiled. She felt giddy with excitement, feeling like a teenager who was finally with her crush. She watched as he finished the dishes and wiped his hands.
"What do you suggest we do now?" he asked her, walking towards her, and pulling her into his arms.
Sakura placed her hands on his shoulders and tilted her head slightly, "cuddle and watch tv."
"Sounds great," he kissed her forehead, "lead the way beautiful."
Sakura smiled at him shyly and let go of him and made her way to the living room. They sat down on the sofa and Sakura cuddled up into Gaara's side, and he draped his arm around her, kissing the top of her head.
Sakura turned on the television and selected a movie. She placed the remote down and placed her hand on his chest and her head against his shoulder.
Gaara ran his fingers gently against her shoulder and down her arm and kissed the top of her head. He tried to pay attention to the movie, but his attention kept falling on Sakura. He remembered telling her that he loved her last night, he wondered whether she had heard him. He wanted to ask her, but didn't know how to bring it up, without making things weird between them.
He forced his attention back to the movie, watching as the lead character had to work hard in a bath house to save her parents.
With the movie over, Sakura sat up and stretched her arms over her head, "I love that movie," she smiled at him.
"It's a beautiful movie," he fingers in her hair, wrapping a tendril around his finger. He moved closer to her, "did I tell you, you're beautiful?"
Sakura blushed, a shy smile spreading across her lips, "thank you," she whispered, before adding, "you're very handsome."
"Is that right?" he smirked at her, before capturing her lips in a gentle, sweet kiss.
Sakura smiled against his lips.
"What would you like to do now?"
"Urmm… I don't know. What would you like to do?"
"How about we go out for a walk, and I treat you to lunch?" Gaara suggested.
"You don't have to treat me to anything," she smiled at him.
"I would like to treat my girlfriend," he returned the smile, kissing her once again, "let's go out."
Sakura beamed at him, girlfriend. She nodded her head, "okay. Let me go and get changed." She stood up and made her way to the stairs, but Gaara grabbed her hand and pulled her back. She squealed lightly and turned to face him; her arms wrapped around his neck. "What are you doing?"
"I couldn't let you go without a kiss," he captured her lips, one arm wrapped around her waist, while he cupped her cheek with his other hand. "You can go now," he spoke against her lips.
Sakura blushed, her fingers in his hair, "I won't be too long."
He nodded and let go off her, watching as she walked up the stairs, disappearing at the top.
Sakura walked into her room and did a little dance, smiling wide, her arms wrapped around herself, "I'm his girlfriend," she looked at her reflection, her smile spreading wider across her lips. From the wardrobe, she pulled out the white dress and placed it on the bed, followed by her black sandals. She quickly changed, tied up her hair in a messy bun and applied light makeup.
She picked up her shoes and made her way back downstairs, finding Gaara sat in the living room, waiting for her. As she walked towards him, she watched how his eyes took her in, how they filled with warmth and care for her, and how his lips pulled up in a smile. "I'm ready," she smiled at him, biting her bottom lip.
"You look beautiful," he stood up and walked towards her, placing his hands on her hips, and kissing her forehead. "Shall we go?"
Sakura nodded. She put on her shoes and grabbed her bag and made her way to the door. She unlocked it and together with Gaara, they made their way to his car.
Gaara unlocked it, and opened the door for her, before getting in himself. He started the car and drove towards town. Once parked, he got out and opened the door for Sakura, taking her hand and started to walk towards where he and his family worked.
"Where are we going?" Sakura looked up at him.
"I thought I'd show you where I work," he looked at her and smiled.
Sakura smiled at him, "I'd love to see it."
They walked a little more until they came to stop in front of a large, tall building, with windows shining in the midday sun.
Sakura looked up at the building, "wow."
"Let me show you my office," he placed his hand on the small of her back and lead her into the building, towards the elevators. He pressed the button for the top floor. The doors opened to a wide-open space, with several rooms. "This way," he took her hand and lead her towards the door at the end. He opened the door and let her in.
Sakura walked into the large room and looked around. Large bay windows took over one wall, showing off the beautiful landscape of the sand dunes, the great cliffs, and the town below her. "What a beautiful and amazing view."
"Not as beautiful as you," he said, looking at her. He walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
Sakura turned to look at him and smiled, "thank you." She looked over at the large dark wood desk, "so, that's where you sit and act all official?"
Gaara chuckled lightly, "yes, you could say that."
"I bet you look really hot in a suit and bossing people around," Sakura smirked at him, her eyebrow arched upwards.
Gaara turned her around and placed his hands on either side of her, caging her in, "I don't know," he spoke low, "why don't we find out?" he pressed his lips against her neck, gently kissing her.
Sakura sucked in a shuddering breath, her eyes closing and her hands on his shoulders.
He moved his mouth over her neck and towards her lips, capturing them in a deep kiss. His tongue rubbing against hers.
Sakura moaned into the kiss, her hands tightening around his shoulders. Pleasure pooling low in her core, her heart beating fast in her chest.
Gaara pulled away from the kiss and ran his thumb against her bottom lip, "you'll have to wait until later to find out," he whispered.
Sakura looked at him and groaned, pushing against his chest, "you're such a tease."
"I'm sorry," he kissed her cheek, "let's go get some lunch." He took her hand and led her out of his office and the building.
They walked towards Hidden Sands Tonkatsu. They were seated in a booth near the back of the restaurant, menus placed on the table.
Sakura smiled at him, remembering their first date.
"What are you smiling about?" Gaara looked at her, tilting his head slightly.
"Remembering our first date," she replied.
Gaara smiled at her, "I'm glad you said yes," he took her hand in his and intertwined their fingers together.
Sakura bit her bottom lip and smiled at him, "so am I," she stroked his thumb with hers.
The waitress arrived at their table, smiling at both, "do you know what you'd like to order?"
Both ordered the chicken tonkatsu.
The waitress smiled at them, "we'll bring it out when it's ready," and walked away.
"How are you enjoying your lazy day?" Sakura asked.
"The best lazy day I've ever had," he smiled at her and kissed the back of her hand, "thank you for suggesting it."
"Anytime. You know where to come whenever you need a lazy day," she grinned at him.
"I'll keep it in mind."
Their food arrived minutes later, and they reluctantly let go of each other's hands to tuck into their food.
Gaara paid for their lunch once their plates were empty. They made their way to his car when his phone started to ring. He pulled it out of his pocket and looked at the screen, Temari's name flashing across it.
"Answer the call," Sakura smiled at him and walked towards his car, giving him some privacy while he answered the call.
He smiled at her and accepted the call, placing the phone against his ear. "Temari, what can I do for you?"
"When are you coming home?"
He looked back at Sakura, "I don't know, why?"
"Dad is leaving today."
Gaara sighed, he'd forgotten that their father was only staying for a week, "I'll drop Sakura home and then I'll be over."
"Okay…" she paused for a while before adding, "so, are you two in a relationship then?"
Gaara smiled, his eyes lingering on Sakura, "yeah, we are."
"That's… uh… that's good… See you in a while."
Gaara hung up the call and walked over to Sakura, pulling her into his arms.
"You have to go," Sakura said, giving him a small smile, wrapping her arms around him.
"I do," he sighed, "my dad is leaving in a bit. I'll drop you off home first."
"Thank you."
He unlocked the car and they both got in. The drive quiet, each lost in their own thoughts. As he pulled up in front of her house, he turned off the engine and looked at her.
"Thank you for lunch," Sakura said, taking his hand in hers.
"Thank you for today, I've had a lot of fun." He kissed her forehead.
Sakura smiled and unbuckled her seatbelt, reluctantly letting go off Gaara's hand, "I'll see you around." She opened the door.
Before she could get out, Gaara grabbed her hand and pulled her closer, capturing her lips, "I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you too," she spoke against his lips.
"I don't want to go," he kissed her again.
Sakura pulled away slightly, looking into his eyes, "I don't want you to go, but you have to."
He sighed, "I know," he pressed his forehead against hers. the words I love you filled his mouth and he wanted to utter them, but stopped himself, not wanting to ruin what they had between them. Instead, he said "I'll see you around."
"Yeah," Sakura smiled and got out of the car. She fished out the keys from her bag and walked to the front door, unlocking it. She waved to Gaara as she walked in, watching as he drove away. She sighed deeply and shut the door, leaning against it. Her phone pinged several times in her bag, pulling her attention away. She fished it out and found two missed calls from Ino and several messages.
She checked the messages first.
Forehead, what happened last night? Did you two talk? Xxx
I've called you twice and you haven't answered, I take that you two have been getting busy! Xxx
If I don't hear back from you within the next twenty minutes, I swear I am going to get a plane to Suna and beat you up! Xxx
Sakura chuckled lightly and pressed the call button on Ino's name and placed the phone against her ear.
"Took you long enough!"
"I'm sorry, I've been busy."
"Yeah, I gathered. So, what happened last night?"
Sakura smiled recalling last night, "it was awkward at first, his father and sister kept asking me questions about how long I've known Gaara, to when I met him and what we were to one another…"
"What are you two to one another? Please tell me you two spoke about this!"
Sakura laughed lightly, "yes we spoke about it."
"And?"
Sakura smiled wide and bit down on her bottom lip, "we're together."
Ino screamed down the phone, "I knew it! I knew you two would end up together! Did you stay at his last night?"
"No, he stayed with me."
Another scream from Ino, "I'm so happy for you, forehead."
"Thanks, Ino."
They spoke for a longer until they both hung up and Sakura made her way to her room and sat on her bed, holding the pillow Gaara had slept on and hugging it tight against her, the smile still stretching across her lips.

Gaara parked his car and sighed deeply, a small smile gracing his lips. He wished that was still with Sakura. He opened the door and got out, locking the car behind him as he made his way into the house.
"In here Gaara," Temari called from the living room.
He walked into the living room, the table laden with food.
"Help yourself to lunch," Temari smiled.
"Thanks, but I've already eaten," he gave her a small smile.
Temari nodded, "oh… okay."
"So, Gaara," Kankuro smirked at him, "you and the doctor…"
Gaara sighed lightly, "what about Sakura and me?" He looked at Kankuro.
"How'd it go last night?" Kankuro wriggled his eyebrows suggestively.
Gaara stared at his brother before sighing and looking away, he wasn't about to discuss what him and Sakura get up to when they are alone. He turned his attention to their father, who had his bag by his feet. "I'm sorry, I forgot you were leaving today."
Rasa smiled at him, "nothing to be sorry for. How is Sakura doing?"
Gaara smiled, "she's good. She said she enjoyed meeting you and speaking with you about the books."
"She has really good taste," Rasa said, smiling at Gaara, "I'm happy for the two of you."
"Thank you, dad," Gaara's smile stretched across his lips.
Rasa looked over at Temari and Kankuro, "I'm glad to see you're all doing well and are happy," he smiled, "look after yourselves and each other."
"We will, dad," Temari smiled. She walked over to him and hugged him, "thank you for coming."
"Thank you for letting me stay."
"It's your house too, you don't need permission to come here," Temari looked at him.
Rasa smiled at her and walked over to Kankuro, hugging him.
"It's been great having you here, dad."
"Thank you, son," Rasa pulled away from the hug and walked towards Gaara, he smiled at him, "it's really nice seeing you happy, and like I said before, I really am so proud of you, son."
Gaara smiled, blinking back tears that filled his eyes, "thank you dad."
Rasa hugged him before patting his back and walking back to grab his bag, "I'll see you later," he smiled at them. He made his way out of the house and towards his car, turning to look at his children and the house once more.
"Drive safe, dad," Temari called from the doorway.
"Take care," Rasa smiled at them all, placing his bag into the back of the car before getting in. He waved at them all as he started the car and drove away.
The trio made their way into the house and Temari turned to Gaara, "so, you and Sakura?"
Gaara sighed and looked at her, "what about us?"
"You're in a relationship then?"
Gaara nodded, "yes we are. And seeing as you finally got to meet her last night as my potential girlfriend, are you happy now that she isn't using me?"
Temari gave him a small smile, "I'm sorry for saying that…" she spoke quietly, before adding "I was only trying to look out for you."
"I appreciate that, but sometimes, you really do take things too far," Gaara smiled at her.
"I know," She smiled in return.
"So, what did you and the good doctor get up to last night?" Kankuro smirked, wriggling his eyebrows suggestively.
"None of your business," Gaara replied and walked to his room, shutting the door behind him. He sat on the bed and pulled out his phone from his pocket. He unlocked it and smiled, finding messages from Sakura.
Thank you for treating me to lunch earlier and for spending the day with me, I really had fun. Xx
Also, I miss you xx
He replied to her messages.
You're welcome. I really enjoyed spending the day with you too. Thank you for treating me to my first ever lazy day. And thank you for saying yes. I miss you too xx
He watched as her reply came through within minutes.
I'm glad you enjoyed your lazy day, if you ever need another one, I'm always up for a lazy day :). How did it go with your family? Xx
He typed his reply, the smile stretching over his lips.
It went well, my father left a while ago. And you'll be the first to know about any lazy days I have planned xx
Her reply came back instantaneously.
I'm glad it went well. I really am happy that you and your father were able to talk and patch things up. Xx
He smiled at her words.
So am I. Thank you for helping me out when I had come over before, for making me see sense. Xx
He watched as her reply displayed across the screen.
I'll always be here if you ever need anything Xx
Thank you, and I'm always here if you ever need anything either xx
There was a knock on the door, he locked his phone and said, "come in."
Kankuro walked in, smiling at him, "I'm really happy for you," he sat down on the bed next to Gaara.
"Thank you," Gaara returned the smile.
"It's been a while since you've been with anyone, and honestly, I was beginning to get a little worried for you," Kankuro sighed slightly.
Gaara shook his head, "unlike you, I don't go sleeping around."
"Nothing wrong with spreading the love," Kankuro smirked at him, "but seriously, I'm happy for you man. Sakura is a good one."
Gaara nodded, "she really is."
"You tell her you love her?"
"Not to her face, no," Gaara sighed, "I don't want to make things weird between us."
"Don't wait too long to tell her," he winked and stood up, stretching his arms over his head. "I'm going out tonight, you wanna come?"
"No thanks, I'm good."
"Your loss," Kankuro walked to the door.
Gaara pocketed his phone and walked into the living room, and helped Temari tidy up the table, put away the food and wash the dishes.
He spent the evening in his room with his laptop, going through his emails before calling it a night, his thoughts turning to Sakura, wondering what she was doing, before sleep pulled him under.
