Chapter 8: Ice Cream Hangout
Few minutes later, Timon and Pumbaa already made it back home when they park their car in front of garage. They've reverted themselves back into animals when they took a shower and put on their pajamas. Timon is brushing his teeth and rinse with water. Pumbaa enter his room and walked to him.
"Hey Timon, you ready for bed?" asked Pumbaa.
"Oh definitely. Can't wait what were gonna do tomorrow." said Timon when jump down from the bathroom sink and walked over to his bed.
Pumbaa looked curious since they got back from their trip. On their way home, he noticed when Timon is looking at the package thinking about it.
"Pumbaa, there's something I wanted to show you what I just bought." said Timon when he unwrapped the cloth and revealed the music box to his friend. Pumbaa was curious at first.
"What's that?" asked Pumbaa.
"It's a music box. I bought it from the thrift shop and I was told by an old lady that this box is very fragile." replied Timon
"That box sure looks pretty." said Pumbaa.
"It sure is. I wonder what's inside, unless if I open it and sucked us all in or something." said Timon suspicion.
"What makes you say that?" asked Pumbaa.
"I don't know, but let's find out." said Timon when he put his hand on the top of the box.
He looked nervous when he was about to open. Pumbaa started to look suspected. Timon closed his eyes and quickly open to see what's gonna happen next. But it turns out, nothing happened. Timon open his eyes and looked what's empty. He looked confuse. He closes and open repeatedly three times.
"Huh, strange. I guess it only works in the movie."
"You know, there's somethings missing." said Pumbaa
"Oh, and why's that?" asked Timon
"While we were on our way back, what are you thinking?" Pumbaa asked his friend.
Timon never thought of it since they got back. He was thinking about the girl that he found. The question is how long has she been gone? Was it like 12 hours or so he thought? He shook his head.
"It's nothing. Let's get some sleep." said Timon when he denied.
"Okay, if you say so." said Pumbaa when he exits the room and turn off the light.
"Goodnight!" hollered Pumbaa.
"Sleep tight!" Timon hollered back.
"Dream of bed bugs tonight."
Timon set the box down next to alarm clock. He snuggled himself and went to sleep. But then there's one problem. He shifts his position when he tried to sleep. He opens his eyes and look at the alarm clock that says 9:50 p.m. He sighed when he tried to close his eyes. By 10:30, his eyes still open with bloodshot when he couldn't sleep groaning. He can't shake the feelings that there's something going on in his mind.
Timon got off the bed and went downstairs to the kitchen. He jumped on the counter and took out a glass cup to pour some milk. He jumped down and open the fridge to take the milk and poured it in his cup until he put the milk back in fridge and closed it. He jumped on the counter again to put his cup in the microwave to warm it up like around 30 seconds until it's warm and took out from the microwave.
"Ah, maybe a nice warm milk can help me get some sleep." said Timon when drank his warm milk until it's empty.
He set down the glass cup and waited patiently to see if it works. By ten seconds, he thought it might actually work.
"Well that's just peachy." said Timon annoyed, but then he fell down flat when drifted to sleep snoring.
The next morning, Pumbaa woke up and walk downstairs to the kitchen yawning. He didn't notice when the meerkat fell asleep on the when he walks pass.
"Morning." Pumbaa greeted took no notice.
But then, he froze and looked at Timon when he realized that his friend was sleeping. Pumbaa reached his left front hooves to wake him up.
"Timon?"
The meerkat yelped when he woke up.
"Pumbaa! You're not gonna believe this! I had this crazy dream last night when I dressed up as a superhero and beating up some mooks and..." Timon paused his sentences and looked at Pumbaa staring at him.
"Timon, what are you doing sleeping in the kitchen?" asked Pumbaa.
"Oh, uh...I was just uh..." Timon couldn't come up with excuse.
"You having trouble sleeping, are you?" asked Pumbaa suspicion.
Timon stood there silently when the warthog asked him. He jumped off the kitchen counter and went over to the table to take seat. Pumbaa was started to get concerned. He walked over and took a seat next to his friend. Pumbaa looked at Timon when he was thinking.
"Is there something wrong?" asked Pumbaa concerned. Timon sighed.
"Pumbaa, I've been thinking." replied Timon.
"What is it?"
"Remember what you ask me last night?"
"Yeah, why?"
"It's about Marcy." said Timon confessed.
"You mean the girl that you found her?" asked Pumbaa.
"Yeah, you see I couldn't sleep last night. I just...can't get it out of my head. That's why I had to drank a warm milk to get some sleep." said Timon.
Pumbaa knows why his best friend can't stop thinking about the girl. Then he realized what the meerkat was talking about.
"I think I know what you were thinking?" said Pumbaa grinning.
"What do you mean?" asked Timon.
"I think she really likes you!" replied Pumbaa.
"I don't know what you're talking about." said Timon nervous.
"Admit it! You saw what happened back there last night when she started to attached you."
"Pumbaa, it wasn't like that. She's only five years old. It's not like she imprinted on me or something."
"Then why don't we keep her instead?" asked Pumbaa.
"What?! Keep her?! Oh no. Oh no! There's no way that we can keep her! She's a human! We're animals! Remember? Raising a lion and a honey badger is enough. Besides, I'm sure she could be adopted someday." replied Timon skeptically.
"But what if we see her again? Should we check on her?" asked Pumbaa.
Timon was about to answer, but he paused for a moment when he's been thinking about it. He looked at the paper with Marcy on the picture that's been hang on the fridge. Timon never knew that he had never raised a human child like this before. He met most kids that visit to most theme parks where he greeted them and signing his autographs. He started think that he should admit it, but for now he needs some time.
"I'll think about it." replied Timon
"Oh, well...I'll give you some time to think about it." said Pumbaa.
"Yeah, better get dressed." said Timon when left the table.
"Where are you going?" asked Pumbaa.
"Getting some coffee. Wanna come?"
"Sure!" said Pumbaa when he left the table to get dressed.
They ran upstairs to changed their outfits and turn themselves into humans. They left the house to get in the car and drove off. It won't be long until they arrived at the coffee place called "Starbucks Express". They went to drive thru to order their coffees and two bagels for breakfast. Once they got their orders, they exited the drive thru and drove off. They started to eat their bagel and drank their coffee.
Meanwhile they went to the arcade to play some games. Timon is playing a classic game when he tried to fix the building from the wrecking bad guy. Pumbaa is rooting for his friend when playing. Then the game ends when he won the medal. The little people picked up the wrecking bad guy and tossed him off the building to the mud puddle.
"WOO! Looks like I hit the record!" cheered Timon.
"Way to go Timon!" said Pumbaa cheering.
Then later, Timon and Pumbaa play their basketball practice to earn some scores. After that, Timon is dancing on the pad for dancing game while Pumbaa hit it with hammer to whack the mole. Then an old man wearing glasses who's in charge of the arcade standing next to him.
"Aren't you a bit old to play a Whack-A-Mole?" asked the manager.
"Why yes, yes I am." replied Pumbaa.
"Okay, have fun." said the manager when he left.
Later in the afternoon, Timon and Pumbaa are having lunch at a restaurant which it turns out that they're having buffalo eating contest. Most people are cheering when Timon and Pumbaa are eating 30 chicken wings and piled up the bones on their plates. They burped and everyone cheers.
"Foods on me guys!" said Pumbaa raising his drink.
Later after their lunch, Timon and Pumbaa went to the comic book store reading their favorite superhero that saved people from New York. They bought some comic books and left. Few hours later, they went to the park where they last visit since yesterday. They were sitting on the bench relaxing closing their eyes.
"Ah, this the life Timon." said Pumbaa relaxing.
"You said it, Pumbaa. No worries, no responsibilities, and not even troubles going on." said Timon. Then they heard some kids yelling. They open their eyes and move their heads around.
"What was that?" asked Timon
"I think I heard kids yelling." replied Pumbaa.
They left the bench and checked out to see what's going on. When they approached by the playground, they looked at the scene and raised their eyebrows shocking. It turns out that there was a same girl that they've found, Marcy who was lying on her back while the other girl with messy hair they encounter who's riding on the tricycle trying to reach out to get her friends caterpillar toy from a big bully who is older than the girls wearing black tank tops and olive green pants.
They couldn't believe for what they have witnessed and they were wondering where is the other girl that has blonde hair, but right now they were looking at the part where the big bully laughed at her friend mocking.
"You give her Wormy back to her, you big bully!" shouted the girl with messy hair trying to reach it.
"What are you gonna do about it? Crying out your mommy?" mocked the bully.
Marcy sit up rubbing her head. She looked at the bully holding her caterpillar toy. She started to get mad.
"GIMME BACK MY WORMY!" cried Marcy when she ran to him, but the bully tripped the girl and fell to the ground flatly. Marcy's friend gasp.
"MARCY!" cried the girl ran up to her friend when she tries to lifting up her friend.
"Marcy, are you okay?" asked the girl worrying.
Marcy didn't respond, but nodded. The big bully laughing when walk pass them holding Marcy's toy.
"Oh, this is priceless! You are such a clumsy little girl." said the bully harshly.
"You leave my friend alone!" yelled the girl.
"Oh I'll leave her alone, when she leaves! I told you two to stay out of my turf. You don't belong here, your parents are running a Chinese restaurant where you don't speak like them. And as for your friend, she doesn't even deserve to have friends because she's an orphan! She doesn't even have her parents! No wonder why she was abandoned by her so called parents." said the bully when he laughed.
Marcy started to swell her tears while her friend is angry at him. Timon and Pumbaa couldn't believe what they just heard. They were shocked. It really hit them when Marcy told them about the bully. Timon started get angry and gritted his teeth. There's no way he could let that big bully messing with these kids. He stomps his foot towards them leaving Pumbaa behind.
"HEY!" shouted Timon.
The bully stopped laughing and look at Timon stomping towards him. The girls looked back and saw him walk passed them, but Marcy remembers him from last night.
"PICK ON SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE!"
"Who is this? Your dad? Oh, wait? That's not your dad. He's just a total stranger." mocked the bully.
"You give her back her caterpillar toy right now! Or else?" Timon warned the bully.
"Or else what? Calling my parents? This isn't your turf, nerd," said the bully.
Without a warning, Timon grab the bully's shirt and lift him up to his face when the bully shrinked his pupil eyes and started to get scared. The girls were shocked too. Marcy never seen this stranger stood up to him. Pumbaa was surprised too.
"Listen here you punk! I may be nice to smaller kids from the outside, but from the inside, I don't play nice with some bullies like you! If you don't give her caterpillar back to that kid, so help me that I will not hesitate to shoved some acorns down to your pants and have squirrels all around you screaming! Do I make myself clear?!" growled Timon.
The bully nodded frightfully. He handed the caterpillar toy to Timon and put him down landed on the ground.
"That's better. Now SCRAM!" snapped Timon.
The bully ran off cowardly and exiting the playground. The girls were surprised while Pumbaa was dumbfounded. Timon calmed down and looked at Marcy when her mouth was open with eyes sparkles along with her friend. Timon smiled and handed out her stuffed caterpillar.
"I think this belongs to you." said Timon.
Marcy closed her mouth and gasp when she smiled.
"Wormy!" cheered Marcy when she stood up swiped her caterpillar toy hugged it tightly.
Timon smiled at Marcy. Even her friend smiled. Pumbaa walked over to them.
"Wow! I never thought when you get so mad, but this?" asked Pumbaa.
"Eh, it's a long story." replied Timon.
"Hey, aren't you those guys that jumped over us when you riding a skateboard?" asked the girl with messy hair.
"Why yes, yes we are." replied Timon.
"Cool! I'm Anne, Marcy's best friend. She told me everything when you found her last night." said Anne.
"She did?" asked Timon.
"Yeah, that was pretty cool. I'm glad that you found her and brought her back home safe. It's kinda like doing the right thing. Right Mar-Mar?" said Anne.
"Mar-Mar?" Timon asked in confusion.
"It's her nicknamed I gave her." said Anne.
"Thank you so much, Mr. Beak-O-Witz." said Marcy trying to correct his last name.
"Beak-O-Witz?" asked Anne giggling.
Pumbaa snickered at his friend. Timon shook his head smiling.
"You know what? You can call me Timon." said Timon.
"Okay, Mis-Timon." said Marcy.
Then the girls started to laugh. Timon went speechless. Pumbas joined them laughing.
"Sh-She called you Miss Timon?!" Pumbaa laughed so hard. "Oh man! Oh! That is so funny!"
Timon give him a deadpanned when Pumbaa laughed really hard.
"Oh, ha ha. Very funny." said Timon in sarcastic.
The girls stop laughing and looked at him smiling.
"You're funny." said Marcy giggled.
Timon smiled back at Marcy.
"Ahem. Well, now that we all know each other, where's your other friend? The one who's with you on a tricycle?" asked Timon.
"Oh, Sasha? Yeah, she's with her mom when they go shopping. Luckily my mom is working at my family's restaurant." replied Anne.
"Really? Well I guess we should be going or..."
"Ice Cream!" said Anne and Marcy altogether with eyes sparkles when they spotted a man at the ice cream kart.
"Can I have one, mister? Can I? Can I?!" pleaded Anne.
"Please mister, please?" pleaded Marcy.
Timon looked at the girls giving him a puppy face. He couldn't stand the look of puppy face and shook his head chuckling.
"Well alright." said Timon.
"Yeah!" cheered the girls.
"So what do you girls like?" asked Timon.
"I want chocolate!" exclaimed Anne.
"Mint Ice Cream, please." said Marcy kindly.
Timon nodded and they walked over to the ice cream kart. The vendor looked up and smiled.
"Can I help you, gentlemen?" The vendor asked.
"Yes, I would like to have two ice creams for the girls. One chocolate ice cream for Anne and one minty ice cream for Marcy." said Timon when he orders two ice creams.
"Alright, that'll be ten dollars."
Timon pulled out his wallet and took out a ten dollar and two one dollar bills. He handed over his cashes to the vendor and pulled out two ice creams. He gave one chocolate to Anne and he gave one minty to Marcy.
"Thank you!" said the girls altogether.
"You kids enjoy." said the vendor.
They left the ice cream kart and they walked over to the bench. Timon let the girls sat down on the bench licking their ice cream and he sat down next to Marcy. For Pumbaa, he shrugged and stand behind them from the bench.
"So, enjoying your ice cream?" asked Timon.
"Yep." said Anne.
"Feeling much better now?"
"Much better." said Marcy sweetly.
"Alright, I'm gonna start from the beginning. How long have you two been friends?" asked Timon kindly to Anne.
"Marcy and I have been friends since we were in kindergarten. We come over to the playground every day. When we were playing with swings, those mean girls stole our spots, but luckily there was this girl showing up trying kick their butts, but sadly she missed. But on the bright side, those mean girls left and then we became with friends with Sasha." said Anne when she explained her story to Timon.
"Well, that's very nice." said Timon and he looked at Marcy. "How about you, kiddo? Do you go to school?"
"Well, I did go to school. I've started to read some books from the library about science and animals." said Marcy while licking her ice cream.
"You read some books?" asked Pumbaa.
"Uh huh, I love reading books." replied Marcy.
"So, what's your favorite animal?" asked Timon.
"I love frogs!"
"Favorite color?"
"Green!"

"Perfect! And more thing." said Timon.
"What is it?" Marcy asked curious.
"How long have you been an orphan?" asked Timon.
Marcy dropped her smile and looked at her minty ice cream. Nobody ask her about her life story when she was an orphan. Anne dropped her smile too and looked her friend. Marcy sighed.
"Was it something I said?" said Timon concerned.
"Oh, it's nothing. It's just..." Marcy paused her sentenced, but then she decided to continued.
"I was only a baby when my mom left me at the orphanage and Ms. Padilla looked after me ever since. I sleep with my roommate, Bailey when she always looks after me and we were like sisters. Every year, those older kids are like bullies who's doesn't treat me very often and said that I don't belong here." said Marcy when she pulled out here photo from her overall dress pocket to show it to Timon.
He and looked at the picture of her family. There was a woman holding a baby with a man next to her and there was a boy like around 4-year-old standing next to a woman. Pumbaa leaned and looked closer at the picture. Timon felt sympathy about Marcy.
"That's my mom, my dad, my big brother, and...that's me." said Marcy quietly.
Timon looked at her with a sad face.
"What happen to them?" Timon asked softly.
"I lost my parents. But my brother..." Marcy paused when a small tears swelling.

But she doesn't know what happen to her brother. Now they know how they feel. For Pumbaa he doesn't have his parents since he was piglet back then. For Timon, he lost his father when he was a meerkat pup back then.
"I know how you feel. For me, I lost my father too." said Timon quietly.
Marcy stopped crying a bit and look up at him. Anne looked at him.

"I have to! Don't you see we living in fear?! Every year we live in fear of hyenas and we never put up a fight against these predators!"
"But fighting against the hyenas will be suicide!" exclaimed Uncle Max.
"I DON'T HAVE A CHOICE!" shouted Buzz.

"My father was the bravest person that he has ever faced. My mother and my uncle were lucky that they're safe, but my father... he didn't make it."
(Flashback Ends)
Back in the presents where Timon is sitting on the bench next to Marcy and Anne. The girls felt empathy at him when he lost his father. Pumbaa felt bad about him. For Marcy, she knows how it feels when she lost her parents.
"I'm so sorry about your dad." said Marcy softly.

"Sorry, I gotta go." said Marcy.
"Wait, who's calling?" asked Timon.
"It's Bailey! She brought me here to see Anne and Sasha whenever I really wanted to see them if I ask Ms. Padilla's permission." Marcy explained.
"Oh, alright then. You take care of yourself, kid." said Timon.
"Bye Mister Timon! Bye Mister Pumbaa! Thanks for getting my wormy back and my ice cream!" hollered Marcy when she ran off with her ice cream and her caterpillar toy.

Bailey is holding on Marcy's hand and they left the park leaving Timon and Pumbaa behind. He's glad that Marcy is all better now. He started to think about what Pumbaa said about early that morning. He also thinks about how Marcy lost her parents. He knew she needed someone to look after her. She need someone that is special. But then, an idea flicked on his head.

"I've been thinking. What if she needed someone to look after her? I mean, after all... I think...she's started to grown fond of me." Timon admitted it.
Pumbaa stood there silently. And then he spread his smiling widely.
"YES! I knew it! I knew it! You admit it!" shouted Pumbaa exciting. "I always you knew that you admit it!
