Chapter 9: The Music Box

Meanwhile in a shopping district, Timon and Pumbaa parked their car in the parking lot and got out from their vehicle. Timon was really excited that he wants to do something special. For Pumbaa on the other hand was a little confused at first.

"Alright, here's the plan. We're gonna buy some of the stuff what she likes. We're gonna get some clothes, toys, books, and movies. Anything we need." explained Timon.

"Okay, first and small question, why are we doing this?" Pumbaa asked.

"Because I wanna do something for her. And do you know why?"

"Is it her birthday tomorrow?"

"No, it's not her birthday. No one ever mentioned about her birthday if it was. And speaking of which, well….." Timon stop walking and paused for a moment.

"What is it?" Pumbaa asked.

"I'll tell you later."

They went inside Target to grab two carts and start shopping. Their first stop is at the kids clothes section where it can fit most kids, but for Marcy where she can fit when Timon picked out any girls clothes like shirts, pants, socks, and shoes. Later on, they went to the next section right between toys and electronics along with some books. Timon picked out some plushies, figures, and tea party sets while Pumbaa went to grab some books of animals and astronomy. After they picked up a few things, they went to the checkout to pay for it. The clerk lady looked at them confused when she scanned.

"We're doing something special tomorrow and it's a secret." said Timon paid his money to buy some stuff. They exit Target to the parking and put some stuff to their car.

"So, what else are we going?" asked Pumbaa.

"Home." said Timon.

"What? Why?"

"I'll tell you later."

Pumbaa started to get suspicious on his friend. They entered their vehicle and turned on the engine. Pumbaa backed up from the parking space and exit the parking lot to get back home. It won't be long until they made it back home as they parked in front of the garage. They got out from the car and took some stuff out. They went inside the house to walk upstairs and stop by the door that's right next to the other room. Pumbaa looked at Timon carefully.

"Alright, what are you up to?" asked Pumbaa suspicion.

"For what?"

"You bought some toys, clothes, and books. Care to explain why are we here. You're not planning to change your mind, have you?"

"Alright, you got me. To be honest with you, can you promise me not to freak out?" asked Timon honestly.

"Of course not. I don't mind." said Pumbaa.

"Alright, here goes. You see…the truth is…" Timon paused for his sentence. Pumbaa was waiting for him to finish his sentence. Timon didn't know what to say when they had that conversation from that morning. Then finally he spoke.

"We're going to adopt Marcy."

Pumbaa raised his eyes wide open and dropped his jaw with a gasp slowly. He dropped the bags full of books. Timon knew what his friend would say expecting to freak out.

"Before you say anything and I know what I said. Just because we're both animals and she's a human, but that doesn't mean that we are going to raise her as a family. Unless you preferred to….." Pumbaa cut his friend sentences when quickly give him a big hug instead of freaking out.

"That is the most beautiful decision I've ever seen! I'm so proud of you!" exclaimed Pumbaa with joy.

"Choking! Not breathing!" said Timon grunted from his friend's grip. Pumbaa let go of his friend so that he could breathe.

"Sorry, it's just that I am so happy for you ever since we raised both Simba and Bunga. I never thought that we could raise a human kid." said Pumbaa.

"And what makes you think that I change my mind?" asked Timon.

"You did Timon, you did." replied Pumbaa.

They went to one of the guest room where it has a bed, drawers, and a desk with a color of green on the wall. They looked each other when they didn't notice.

"You don't think that some folks used to lived here, right?" Timon asked.

Pumbaa thought about it since they moved in two days ago. He did remember when they got million dollars and bought some furnitures to buy. They got some beds, couches, tables, chairs, and anything. He did look upstairs to see if there's any room to sleep in. He did pick his room for his own while Timon picked master bedroom.

"Yep, we have two guest rooms." Pumbaa confirmed.

"Okay, just wanted to make sure that we prepared for anything. Whatever the reasons, it's hard to tell. For now, let's get cleaned up."

Timon and Pumbaa are putting on some stuff in each furniture until everything is perfect. They got out of the room and closed the door behind them. Timon had put up a name in front of the door. He smiled.

"It's perfect." said Timon. Then he heard a stomach growling. He looked at Pumbaa who's embarrassed.

"Sorry." Pumbaa apologized.

"No, that was your stomach silly. C'mon, let's get something to eat." said Timon. They walked out from their house and went to their vehicle. They drove off as they headed downtown. Pumbaa is driving while Timon is looking through his phone.

"So, any activities that we haven't done for three days?" Timon asked.

"How about a movie theater." Pumbaa suggested.

"Oh yeah, movie night! Man I can't wait to see what movies that came out this week." exclaimed Timon as he looked up to see which any movies they have.

"They got Thor, Cars 2…..wait, is that the guy from "The Pacifier" movie?" said Timon surprised.

"Yeah, that's Vin Diesel! Oh look, Dwayne Johnson is in the movie!" said Pumbaa.

They looked at each other smiling.

"Wanna watch Fast Fives?" ask Timon.

"Are you sure? Because it might contain some curse words." said Pumbaa concerned.

"Pumbaa, not all movies were family-friendly entertainment. We've seen so many live action movies that we enjoy. Like dinosaurs, superheroes, and spy movies. How bad can it be?"

Two hours later, Timon and Pumbaa got out from the cinema where most movies are showing. They have seen many movies in cinema since the 90's.

"Wow, I never thought that movie was good, but so many violence and curse words." Timon commented.

"It's a really good thing that we never use that kind of language." said Pumbaa.

"Yeah, that's too bad we didn't watch four movies that was previous due to foul language and a little disturbing." said Timon shuddered.

They went to their vehicle and drove off. While Pumbaa is driving, Timon is writing down his notes for a checklist. Pumbaa notice that Timon is writing.

"Whatcha' writing?" Pumbaa asked.

"I've written down on my notes so that we could spend some time together as a family. Pretty soon that I'm gonna be an ultimate dad." said Timon.

"Now hold on, I know if it's too soon, but we gotta get know Marcy first. It takes time for her whenever she's ready." said Pumbaa.

"I see you made a good point. What else am I missing?"

"Oh, that reminds me, if we adopt Marcy, what happens if she finds out who we really are?" Pumbaa asked concern.

Timon never thought about it before. He knew that they were both animals while Marcy is a human, but he really wanted to do something for her. Right now, things could get complicated when she figured out about their true forms.

"Don't worry Pumbaa, we'll tell her when the time is right. As long as we keep our secrets to each other, our reputation will be safe. For now, we'll keep it that way." said Timon.

"Okay, if you say so." said Pumbaa.

They made it back home and parked in front of the garage. They got out from their vehicle and walked inside through the door. Pumbaa is sitting on the couch when he picked up the remote to turn on the TV to watch something. The TV screen shows when there's an ABC News.

"Hey Pumbaa, you hungry?" asked Timon.

"Sure, if it's alright that we can order some pizzas." replied Pumbaa.

"Ooh, delicious and hot. I'll go check on my phone and look online." said Timon when he pulled out his phone and tapped on the app to look through the internet to search for pizza. He tapped on the website and ordered a pepperoni pizza. He smiled when the pizzas will be arriving in just a few minutes.

Timon went upstairs to his room and looked through his album that he brought. He looked at the pictures of him and Pumbaa with Simba and Nala in the background. He smiled at the pictures. He truly loves his friends more than anything.

Then he started to think about when he realized that he forgot something. If he and Pumbaa adopt the girl, what would his friends say when they return to the Pride Lands for visit. Would Simba welcome the human child as part of the family? Would any animals accept the human child to roam freely? All that question is that he needs some time to think about it.

He closed his album and set it t down next to the music box. He looked at the box for a moment and picked it up. He looked closely to the box with three different colors with frog holding out. Timon did recall when open the box if it's empty.

He examined the key on right side of the box. He twisted the key and the music started to play. He listens to the music like he had never listen to the different kind of music. Then the music stops playing. He was curious if it's possible like if it was magic or supernatural.

But he knew it was all just a myth. He just shrugged and open the box, but suddenly when looked at something glowing when it comes to him. He raised his eyes with shocked and quickly close the box before something happened. He looked at the box with a mixture of confused and shocked. He didn't understand that box was no ordinary box. What he didn't know there's something's different about the music.

Suddenly, he heard a doorbell. He set the music box down and run downstairs to the front door. He opens the door and it shows a pizza delivery guy wearing an outfit while the truck with a rocket on top says "Pizza Planet".

"Hey, you're not the pizza guy." said Timon suspicious.

"I'm new. That'll be 12.99." said the pizza delivery guy.

Timon pulled out his wallet and give him some cash while he takes the pizza from the delivery guy. He closed the door behind him and to the living room where Pumbaa is still watching TV.

"Okay, I got the pizzas so we can share." said Timon sitting next to Pumbaa.

"Mmm mmm! Yummy!" said Pumbaa.

They took a slice of pizza and eat it. Right now they're watching an animal documentary that talks about meerkat.

"Hey look, meerkats! Just like me." exclaimed Timon.

"Yeah, just like when you used to be in a colony." said Pumbaa eating another slice of pizza.

"Ah, brings back memories where we used to be both meerkat and warthog."

"Me too. I missed having grubs." said Pumbaa.

"Yeah, it's too bad we can't eat bugs here because we don't want to attract people, unless we have to go to work as bug exterminator." said Timon when he took another slice of pizza and eat it.

"Hey I know, let's go look for a job!" said Pumbaa.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on a second. We have important thing to do tomorrow, remember? Let me do the job interview." said Timon when he took a drink.

"Oh, okay."

After they eat last two slices of pizzas, Timon took the empty box to throw it away into the trash. Pumbaa burped so loud.

"Ooh, nice one Pumbaa."

"Thanks."

After he tossed it out, he went upstairs to get ready for shower. Pumbaa turned off the TV since the documentary has ended. Pumbaa walked upstairs when he was about to take shower, but stopped and looked straight at the music box sitting right next to the photo album. He walked right into Timon's room and looked closely at the box. He was curious and examined it. Suddenly, he heard his friends voice.

"What are you doing?"

"Nothing!" yelped Pumbaa when he looked at Timon tapped his foot and crossed his arms. Pumbaa smiled nervously.

"You're not planning to peek inside. Haven't you?" said Timon sternly.

"Oh, well…..I was….."

"Then why don't you go ahead open up the music box and find out?"

Pumbaa picked up the box and open it up. What he didn't expected when he looked inside that's bright with a little spark once it reaches Pumbaa. He yelped and accidentally dropped the box panicked when the box lid was closed. Timon quickly run over to the box and picked it up to polished it because he remembers what the old lady said is not to break it.

"What was that?!" exclaimed Pumbaa.

"What was it is that you should be more careful when you dropped it! It cost a lot of money to fix this!" said Timon sternly.

"Are you seeing this?! The box that just glowing! It's…."

"Yeah, yeah, I know. I saw it too."

"What do you mean?"

"Look, I know it's sounds crazy, but that kid from thrift store said something about the mysterious force. Despite the fact when "Candy-Cane" keeps saying when all goes disappeared before her mom sees it."

"Are you saying that the music box was filled with the mysterious force?" Pumbaa asked.

"Maybe? I don't know, but what the kid says it's true, then I believe that box is no ordinary box. It's too dangerous to open it." said Timon when he's heading downstairs to the basement.

Pumbaa followed him downstairs as well. Timon entered the basement and turned on the lights where it shows some stuff like boxes of Halloween and Christmas decorations and some paintings. He walked over to the safe locker and open it. Pumbaa was confused at first.

"Timon, where did you get the safe locker?" Pumbaa asked.

"Ever since you "borrowed" our life savings, I thought of something that I ordered it online and to make sure most of money doesn't get stolen, especially for the box. As far as I'm concerned, no one, I mean no one ever, ever touch the music box." said Timon sternly.

He set the box down inside and closed it. He spins the handle and pulled tightly when it's locked. He set up the passcode to make sure no one can access the code.

"There, now it's safe."

"What if our friends find out about this?"

"Tell 'em that's classified." said Timon when he walked upstairs to take a shower.

Pumbaa quickly looked at the safe locker before we walked upstairs to take a shower. He turned off the light and closed the basement door. All that matters now are the music box is locked up safe where no one can find it.

What do you think about the music box? I thought I made up some suspense when anything goes wrong. Don't worry, it takes 8 years before the girls were being transport into Amphibia. For now, I'm focusing on the past until I can come up with on my own. Stay tuned for the next chapter.
