Sunbeams crept in through the canopy of the forest. A fox runs by before it stops at a nearby tree, sniffing the ground before the rustling of leaves disrupts the serenity of the woods. Its ears straighten as they begin to survey for the source of the sound. In a flash, a large orange, blue blur leaped out of the trees as the ground shuddered from its impact. The fox immediately ran from the presumed predator as the massive beast leaped to continue its course through the giant trees.
Asta couldn't believe how great this felt. His other forms made him feel alive, besides Ghostfreak, but this was something else altogether! His instincts were already extraordinary when compared to most people he'd met, but he felt like they were pushed to their limit when he became the newly named "Wildmutt."
His claws scraped the trees as he swung off it, propelling himself to the next branch. His muscles tensed as he flipped himself onto the top, and he took in everything around him. Every little movement and scent was laid out for him, creating a perfect picture of the woods, with not even the most diminutive creature escaping his senses.
He could barely contain his excitement as he practically howled out a "WOOHOO!"
He smirked as he relished the feeling before continuing his journey.
Nearby, In the sky
The temperature that day was perfect for flying, as Hage Church made its way through the sky on the three brooms while simply enjoying the moment before it was disrupted by a nearby somewhat recognizable howl.
"Asta sure seems to be having fun!" Sister Lily commented as she looked down at the forest, "That new form certainly seems like his new favorite!"
"Better than the other one he showed us!" Recca shuddered as she remembered the glowing purple eye darting around Asta's skin, "I started having nightmares after seeing it!"
"I think this one suits Asta." Nash let out as he began to snicker, "He's always acted like a wild animal!"
"I still like the shiny one!" replied Aruru as she held on tightly to the broom, smiling as the wind hit her face.
Lily chuckled at the children's antics. "I have to admit, it is pretty hard to pick a favorite. Do you have one, Father?"
Orfai smiled, enjoying the time with his family, "I'll be honest, I think I still prefer plain old Asta. That bracer wouldn't do any good if the person using it wasn't strong themselves."
Yuno nodded. He always admired Asta's determination; every time he saw him training, he couldn't help but feel compelled to do the same. Now that Asta had powers, he couldn't afford to keep slacking. Every time Asta gained a new form, he only fell further behind.
As the group conversed, the youngest noticed that they had arrived at their destination.
"There it is!" cried Holo as he pointed towards the lake.
In front of them stood the edge of the largest in the clover kingdom, surrounded by the town of Alnwick. In the lake sat a multitude of boats for recreation and fishing alike within its somewhat murky water. The group began their descent into the town. A multitude of people were bustling around, levitating cargo from boats, relaxing on the shore, and some fishing from the docks. All of this was disrupted as Asta burst in from the forest, running on all fours like the animal he somewhat was before the bracer swiftly timed out.
"Sorry?" Asta chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head.
A Cabin near the lake, Nighttime
The group was finally settled into the cabin they would be staying in for the next few days. The children were splashing their feet in the water as the Adults watched from the patio as Asta stretched nearby while Yuno chopped firewood with his magic.
"I still can't believe the mayor let us borrow his brother's cabin!" Recca said, looking over towards Asta and Yuno, "I guess heroics do have their perks!"
"What matters is we saved you guys!" Asta said as he stopped stretching, "There's no way I'd have lost to that clown with your life's on the line!"
He stared out towards the lake, noticing some ripples in the distance, which disrupted the reflection of the moon.
"But I have to keep pushing myself!" He explained as he began to take off his jacket, "Which is why I'm gonna try and learn to swim!"
"Really? Two new forms, and you're focused on water?" Nash asked, wondering why Asta would willingly waste time not training.
"Magic Knights go all over the kingdom!"Asta emphasized by stretching his arms in a circle, "They definitely need to be able to swim!...probably…."
"Well, don't stay out too late, Asta. We still have our fishing trip tomorrow. "Orfai said, stretching as he rose from his chair. "It's bedtime for everyone else."
The children groaned as they began heading towards the cabin.
"Can Yuno read us the bedtime story tonight!"Holo pleaded, looking between his guardian's and older brother.
Yuno simply nodded as Aruru and Holo cheered in excitement as they went inside.
Asta took off his tunic before he cracked his knuckles as he prepared to jump into the water. "Alright. Learning to swim should be no problem!"
Almost immediately, the water began to bubble before a massive towering figure emerged from within the lake, its face shielded by darkness beside its massive tentacles and glowing blue eyes. It wrapped one appendage around Asta before throwing him deep into the body of Lake Alnwick. In midair, Asta quickly dialed up any transformation he could to soften the landing. He landed just as the green glow enveloped him as the water was thrown in all directions.
Ghostfreak quickly emerged from within the water, his purple eye blinking as he tried to get his bearings as he splashed about, doing his best to try and remain above water. He looked around before another tentacle emerged from behind and began dragging him down to the dark depths of the lake.
The creature brought its tentacle up to its face to get a better look at its prey. Seizing the opportunity, Asta quickly summoned up all his strength to free his hand from its grip before quickly pulling back the skin near his neck, revealing the squirming mass of tentacles inside. The beast shrieked in horror as it swam away from the horrifying sight.
Asta tried his best to pull himself to the top of the water, but with no luck as he sunk further into the depths. All hope seemed lost as he reached the bottom of the lake. That's when it finally dawned on Asta that something was missing from his biology.
"Wait a minute?! Do I even need to breathe now?!" yelled the ectonurite hybrid. He tried taking a few breaths, realizing that nothing was coming in or out.
"Maybe this form isn't as bad as I thought." he mused as he began sprinting along the lakebed back towards the cabin, his ghostly being covered in grime along the way.
He finally reached dry land as he gained speed, practically barreling through the door of the cabin.
"Guys! You won't believe what happened to me!" Ghostfreak yelled, almost immediately startling everyone awake from their sleep as they shrieked from hearing him, "I was just attacked by this giant lake monster!"
"A lake monster?" Nash said, rubbing his eyes, "Stop joking around, Asta! Go to bed!" He quickly rolled over in his cot, covering his ears with his pillow as the other children followed suit.
"But I'm-serious this time, guys!" Asta pleaded as he transformed back, "It threw me into the lake! I nearly drowned!"
"I'm sure you're just tired, Asta," Orfai responded. "I'm sure it'll be fine if you get some sleep."
Asta grumbled as he headed toward his bunk above Yuno's. The two shared a glare and then a small nod between each other as Asta climbed into bed. After the Zombozo fiasco, Yuno knew he wasn't joking around. It was up to them to protect the people of this town and take the beast down. It was officially monster-hunting season.
Next morning in town
The group was walking through town, taking in the sights, more specifically Asta and Yuno, who were looking towards the lake for any sign of movement. They finally reached the docks, as a multitude of sailboats were lined up.
"We'll see you all when you get back," Lily said as she began setting up Aruru and Holo's fishing poles. It was much safer for them to try fishing on the docks since they were so young.
The rest continued further down the docks as they finally arrived at their vessel for the day.
"Hello there! Are you Captain Shaw?" Orfai asked, extending out his hand.
"Who wants to know?"
Standing on the boat was an old man standing at about Orfai's height. He wore a light yellow shirt and tan pants. Strapped to his side was a murky blue grimoire.
"I'm Father Orfai, and these are my wards Recca, Nash, Asta, and Yuno." Orfai said, rubbing Nashs' hair affectionately, "We're the ones who charted your boat!"
"Well then, get aboard!" the captain grumbled as he approached the mast. "I ain't got all day!".
The church members got on as the sail finished unfurling, Yuno bringing along his broom just in case. The wind pulled them along as they began approaching the center of the lake. Yuno and Asta kept steady surveillance going as the captain noticed their gaze.
"I've seen that look before.." said the captain. "You two are looking for the Kraken!"
"The Kraken?" replied Recca as she turned away from the bow.
"Aye." grumbled shaw as he pulled out a map of the lake from a nearby container and unfurled it on a crate. He pointed towards an area to the right. "I've been tracking it ever since I was a lad. Spotted it myself around here. They even called the magic knights to deal with it once, but those city folk didn't dare touch the water".
"Can we go there?" asked Yuno as he examined the map in detail.
"Sure, why not?" Orfai replied, not believing the story of the Kraken, "What's the worst that could happen."
Shaw immediately changed the boat's course, swiftly bringing them to their destination. However, the area was blocked off by a series of buoys connected by a chain. Another, much larger boat approached. It seemed to be crewed by at least five men wearing blue uniforms, with a large crate sitting on the bow.
"Fishing boat! Stop where you are!" declared a figure in a blue coat, "I'm Jonah Melville. The magic knights requested for us to survey this lake for artifacts. You'll have to turn your vessel around."
"Suppose you make me, wise guy!" barked shaw. He wasn't going to let the people who abandoned this town so many years ago walk in like they own it.
"I believe I'm in charge here, captain." Orfai reminded him, "I did chart your vessel."
"We can't leave!" Asta yelled, pointing towards the water, "Yuno and I still have to stop the Kraken!"
Jonah laughed. "The Kraken? The Knights confirmed years ago that it isn't real. Nothing but an old fisherman's tale!"
On the way back to the docks
Jonah's boat was escorting our hero's away from the excavation site, Captain Shaw grumbling the whole time before the water began to form small waves. The waves grew bigger before a fin eventually emerged from the water as it began approaching the docks.
Nash was the first to notice as Asta and Yuno were still looking towards the cordoned-off area.
"It can't be…." Nash whispered as he went to take a closer look, peering over the side as it began to grow bigger. He quickly turned around, pointing to the fin as he yelled, "Yuno, Asta! It's heading for the docks!"
It emerged from the water, its massive form towering over every ship in the area at around four stories tall on its hind legs. Its upper body consisted of slick cyan skin with an olive underbelly. Rows of yellow teeth stuck out from its mouth as it roared, sending its tentacles in all directions. It quickly smashed the dock that Sister Lily, Aruru, and Holo were at, sending them and the rest of the onlookers flying into the lake.
"I told ya! It's real; the Kraken lives!" Shaw yelled almost in joy.
Yuno immediately grabbed his broom, taking to the skies towards the survivors. Meanwhile, Asta attempted to dial in a selection.
"Ghostfreak? No. Heatblast? Definitely no!" he mumbled as he spun the dial before arriving at his preferred selection. "Time to get wild!"
He jumped into the water as he was engulfed by light and what emerged from the water was most definitely not Wildmutt. Asta felt like time slowed down around him as he examined his body. His eyes were now yellow, with black lines heading towards his forehead and ears. His feet were completely changed, now appearing to be two blue toes standing on a pair of black wheels. His hair now gained black and blue highlights on the ends, with his fingertips now resembling metallic pure black claws. Finally, he had a small blue/black striped tail emerging from his spine. The bracer's symbol sat near his collar bone.
"Really? Now's not the best time for a new one!" Asta yelled, looking down at his chest, before glancing towards the people fleeing in terror, "Here goes nothing!"
Asta began trying his best to swim, rapidly splashing water everywhere as he began to gain speed. He kept going faster and faster until he was practically standing on top of the water. He quickly adjusted his balancing, now running atop the lake's surface. The Kraken was about to snatch up Sister Lily, who was holding for dear life onto the children, before Yuno fired a shot towards its eye. It roared out in pain as it raised its arms towards its face. Asta wasted no time grabbing Lily as Yuno brought other survivors to Shaw's boat. Asta reached the shore, dropping them off before he lost balance, slamming into a nearby tree.
"Asta!" Lily cried out, quickly using some healing magic on him, rapidly closing the small wound that formed on his head.
"Sorry. New feet!" Asta sheepishly smiled before he refocused on his task, narrowing his yellow eyes on the Krakken "Gotta run!"
Meanwhile, Yuno was doing great at stopping the Kraken in its tracks. A few wind strikes to the face caused it to dive back under, looking for another place to strike. Asta took this opportunity to bring as many people back to shore as he could, pushing his speed more and more with each run. He was about to grab another when he realized his eyes were starting to burn. He immediately slammed on the breaks sinking below the water as Yuno grabbed the person right before the Kraken gobbled them up. Asta once again sped off from beneath the water to a nearby boat, rubbing his eyes as he spat out some water.
"Asta!" Yuno yelled as he dropped them off, "What's wrong?!"
"My eyes! My speed's too much for them! The wind is practically slashing them!" He hissed before returning to rescue more people, albeit at a slower pace.
"Get us out of here!" Jonah cried to his crew. One quickly brought out their grimoire, creating a gust of wind behind the sail, rapidly pushing the boat forwards, deeper into the lake.
The Kraken quickly noticed dropping another boat before diving after the vessel, quickly getting in front of them. It held them in place before it began using its powerful muscles and tentacles to splash the amount in the water like a toddler playing with a toy. This sent a huge wave towards the boat, sending it away as the Kraken loosened its grip. The crew held on for dear life as the Kraken approached.
Asta and Yuno were quickly gaining, both leaving behind waves as they practically flashed by as Asta tried covering his eyes. Yuno was the first to arrive, quickly creating a tornado between the Kraken and the boat. Asta then quickly followed up, running up the Krakens belly and neck before delivering a devastating kick to its jaw. The Kraken roared out in pain before diving back into the depths.
Our heroes hopped onto the boat, prepared to ask them for a ride back, before the beast returned one more time, grabbing the cargo on the bow. Jonah ran up with his grimoire, creating a series of water chains around his boat and the crate.
"No, you don't!" Jonah yelled as he pulled with all his might against the behemoth.
Yuno began slinging a series of air blasts towards its face as Asta ran up and grabbed its tentacle, practically running backwards before he lost his grip, sending him and the crate flying. The Kraken still wouldn't yield as Yuno began creating an entire tornado directly in its eye as it grabbed for the crate one more time. Asta rushed underneath the Kraken's mouth, bracing his back against the bow as he began an unrelenting assault of high-speed kicks into its jaw. The pain was finally too much for the beast as it retreated below.
Asta and Yuno turned towards the crew as bright red light engulfed the kineceleran hybrid.
"You nearly got munched protecting that crate," Asta said, looking it over "What's so important you'd risk your life for it?"
"Uhm…Priceless artifacts! Yes, the priceless artifacts we harvested from the bottom of the lake!" Jonah explained, seeming rather unsure.
"Right…" Yuno said as he stared Jonah dead in the face. He was clearly lying, and the truth was in that crate.
Out of nowhere, a single tentacle emerged, quickly dragging the crate into the murky waters before anyone could react.
"Well, that's unfortunate." Yuno deadpanned as he looked into the water. He then grabbed his broom, motioning for Asta to get on.
Shaw readied a magical spear of water, aimed right at the Kraken as it made one last sweep of the lake.
"Shaw, these people need medical attention!" Orfai cried as he, Recca, and Nash did their best to attend to the wounded brought to their ship.
Shaw grumbled as his spear vanished.
That Night outside the cabin
A multitude of magic brooms could be seen flying off in various directions as people fled the town. Our group sat around the fire pit in front of the cabin as Asta stared out into the lake, occasionally glancing down towards his wrist. Yuno was nearby, leaning on a tree reading through his grimoire.
Father Orfai was the first to break the silence. "Alright. I know what you two are thinking."
"You're not gonna stop us," Asta said, turning around to face him. "I'm gonna take that monster down!"
Yuno nodded as he stopped leaning on the tree. "More people are going to get hurt if we don't do something."
"I didn't plan to." Orfai chuckled. "You two have more than proven yourselves capable."
As Asta and Yuno discussed their plan with the group, captain Shaw came passing by on his way down from his cabin further in the forest.
"Low down, no-good, hole digging moles," Shaw grumbled as he passed.
"What's wrong, captain?" Nash asked as he took a bite out of some of the food that they'd roasted on the fire.
"They shut down the entire lake! Nobody tells me where to sail!" He said as he began to head towards the docks, "Say you two held your own against the monster! Care to join me for my hunt?!"
"Definitely!" Asta said as he walked up, shaking hands with the captain.
Out on the Lake
Shaw had taken the duo out to where he'd first seen the Kraken. He pulled out his grimoire before its very few pages flipped before stopping on a page that seemed to depict some kind of mask. Shaw raised his hand before dark blue water masks appeared over all their Faces.
"They don't last too long but should let you breathe underwater," Shaw explained before they all took the plunge.
Shaw and Yuno both swam, while Asta once again managed to simply walk his way along the lake bed.
The group explored deeper, passing multiple boat wrecks and schools of fish before eventually finding themselves at what appeared to be its nest. Inside was the remains of the crate from Jonah's ship, revealing a giant ball with pulsing veins around its exterior. Shaw signaled for them to go up, but the duo noticed the extra boat pulled up next to theirs.
They waited a moment before they emerged, seeing Jonah and multiple figures in black cloaks surrounding Shaw.
"Get back to the mill! We'll deal with the trash when we get back!" Jonah commanded as he knocked Shaw out with a punch.
That was enough for Yuno to sprint into action, grabbing his grimoire and firing off a few air shots before grabbing his broom as the figures fired back.
"Get him to safety!" Asta declared as he brought up the dial, trying to use his newest form to speedily deal with the assailants.
Yuno nodded as he grabbed Shaw, firing a few more shots before he took off on his broom.
"You guys are done for!" Asta yelled as he slammed the dial, being engulfed in green.
He felt his eyes vanish as his arms began to bubble as they gained a yellow hue. His bones dissolved into cartilage as his arms gained a yellow hue. His ears began to elongate, becoming bat-like as they moved to the front of his face. His palms opened, revealing two green eyes in his palm as more began to open along his symbol rested near his collar bone.
"What now?" Asta groaned, rotating his arms, trying to get a better look at himself once again. "Can never give me one Eye know, can you?"
Shots continued to be fired by Jonah and his crew as Asta dove for cover. One of his eyes wasn't covered, however, and this was quickly noticed by Jonah. He quickly fired a disk of water towards the eye. It quickly responded on instinct turning orange as it shot out a blast of fire, evaporating the blast into steam.
"So that's what Eye can do!" Asta thought before questioning himself, "Wait, am Eye making Eye puns?!"
Brushing his altered thoughts aside, Asta rolled out of his cover, quickly locking onto the assailants and firing a multitude of quick blasts of all types, including green electricity, orange fire, blue ice, yellow slime, and just normal energy blasts.
A few created shields, while others dove for cover.
"Get back to the ship!" Jonah cried out, "We have all we need! Finish him off!"
One of the crew's grimoires glowed as they generated a large flaming ball with spikes before chucking it towards Shaw's ship. It began to flash brighter, signaling to Asta that it was time to go. He ran to the edge of the boat, ready to jump into the water before an idea formed in his head. He tried firing ice blasts from all his eyes at once, causing most of his eyes to coalesce into two medium-sized blue eyes protruding from his arms. They began firing a constant beam of blue energy towards the water, immediately turning the surface to ice. He hopped onto the ice, slipping somewhat as he began to run while creating a path of ice in front of him.
The magical bomb finished its countdown, exploding violently, as the ship was engulfed in flame. Jonah's boat began pursuing Asta as they began firing all manner of magic projectiles towards him. He narrowly avoided their barrage of elements, dodging a few water chains from Jonah as well. With the few eyes he had remaining, he fired off shots of goop towards his assailants' hands, slowing down the creation of projectiles. He couldn't keep this up forever, and running would just lead them back to the cabin.
He turned around, preparing to take a stand. They continued their assault on the opticoid hybrid, exactly as Asta planned. He slid forward on the ice towards the boat before jumping into the air. His multitude of eyes quickly locked with each assailant before quickly firing as much goo as he could muster towards their heads to blind them. With the first part of his plan, complete Asta fired another beam of ice, creating a path of the lake. Once across, he incinerated it with a volley of fire before running into the woods and back to the cabin.
Back at the Cabin
Yuno had arrived back with Captain Shaw, who was promptly treated by Sister Lily. Recca and Nash scanned the lake for Asta as Yuno began explaining what he saw to Orfai inside the cabin.
"See him yet?" Recca asked, not taking her eyes off the lake.
"Trust me. You'll be the first to know when I do." Nash replied as he heard something from the forest, "Wait! Did you hear that?!"
The two turned towards the woods, seeing a multitude of glowing green eyes sticking out from the bushes. Recca screamed as Nash quickly summoned up what little magic he had, launching a small blast of fire towards the eyes. Noticing the flame, one eye quickly turned blue before blasting it with ice, before the figure walked out of the bushes, revealing Asta in his new form.
"Hey! What's the big EYEdea?!"Asta said as he held his arms out in front of him, the eyes on his palms blinking, "You could've hit me!"
The rest came running out of the cabin after hearing Recca's scream, only to be greeted by Asta. His multitude of eyes began tracking everyone, somewhat freaking everyone out.
"Another one?" Orfai commented as he examined Asta, "What can this one do?"
"This!" was all Asta muttered before the eyes on his right arm sent a volley of every element he could produce towards the lake. "Pretty neat, huh!"
"We need to focus." Yuno spoke as Asta timed out, "Jonah mentioned something about a sawmill."
"Don't forget about that egg we found either!" Asta included
Yuno nodded. "The nest had the remains of the crate inside as well."
"That has to be the reason she attacked everyone!" Recca theorized, "She's mad that Jonah stole her babies!"
"Then we can't waste any time!" Orfai said turning to Captain Shaw. "Any idea where this mill might be?"
Shaw brought his hand up to his chin as he searched his mind. "Probably the old wood mill! I have a spare boat we can take!"
Under the Wood mill
Atsa, Orfai, and Shaw took the boat as Yuno waited for their signal to strike from the sky on his broom. They asked Sister Lily to stay behind and see if she could get anyone in Alnwick to contact the magic knights. Shaw and Orfai were beginning to climb the ladder as Father looked down to Asta.
"Which one are you going to use, Asta?" he whispered. "Maybe the ghost or the fast one?"
As he asked, Asta slammed down the dial, hoping to get Wildmutt once again.
The first thing Asta felt was his neck seemingly ripping open as he grew a set of gills. His fingers clenched together as silver scales began to line his arms before opening, revealing new webbed claws. His mouth left like he was swallowing daggers as his maw was filled with razor-sharp teeth. His hair gained murky green tips as his eyes seemed to gloss over, looking almost like pearls. His symbol sat under his jackets' shoulder, just above where his scales ended.
"Doesn't really matter when I keep getting new ones!" Asta growled as he looked himself over, a plan forming in his head, "You two go ahead, I got an idea!"
He looked towards the water as it seemed increasingly inviting by the second.
Jonah's crew was currently loading the eggs into glass containers filled with water. Jonah had just returned from within the lake carrying another egg with him, and he was wearing what appeared to be a giant armored diver's suit made completely out of water.
"Careful with those eggs! Those are worth more than this entire!" Jonah barked as they finished loading the eggs.
The Kraken quickly emerged from the depths, tearing a hole in the sawmill's foundation. Jonah's crew all quickly brought out their grimoires, blasting it with fireballs, small boulders, vine spears, and some even tried slowing it down with metal magic.
Yuno swooped down on his broom, lobbing air blasts at Jonah's men. He quickly spotted, however, as a multitude of chains flew off Jonah's suit, wrapping around Yuno, pulling him to the ground. Jonah quickly ran over to the egg container, snatching it just before the Kraken could nab them, causing it to roar in frustration. Jonah began producing a huge amount of water from beneath his suit's feet, causing him to fly as it fired out a multitude of aquatic harpoons.
Asta finally made his entrance, gaining enough speed in the water to jump onto the deck. He growled before using his strength to leap onto Jonah's suit. He peered through the helmet, his eyes locking with the man inside.
"Maybe you should try something a little more your size!" Asta growled as he began tearing away the water making up Jonah's suit with his powerful jaws.
This caused Jonah to drop the eggs as he quickly began reforming the missing part of his suit, draining more of his mana in the process. The egg's container cracked, launching them to the edge of the platform as the three-way battle continued on.
Inside, Orfai and Shaw had managed to find the office where Jonah was operating. The room was strewn about with documents, all incriminating in nature. Orfai quickly grabbed as many as he could afford to before the two were ambushed by probably the biggest thug in Jonah's crew.
The thug smirked as he readied his grimoire, creating two boulders in his hands.
Orfai turned to Shaw, giving a slight nod to that was returned.
"Don't you know not to mess with old folk!" Orfai said as he lobbed a fireball towards the thug's hand, causing him to drop both boulders in pain as his hand burned.
"Especially the cranky ones!" Shaw shouted as he constructed a water anchor before launching it into the goons chest.
Outside, the Kraken had finally managed to get ahold of its eggs, bringing them up to its face with its tail so it could make sure they were alright.
"My eggs!" Jonah exclaimed as he propelled himself over with his magic before being pushed aside by Asta as he grabbed the eggs, diving into the water.
"They aren't your eggs!"
Jonah stopped his water propulsion, landing on Asta as he recovered from landing in the water.
"Rescuing babies. Very heroic, but not very smart!" Jonah laughed as he threw blow after blow onto our hero before throwing him away. "You're the same kind of trash I tried to get away from in the Magic Knights!"
Jonah grabbed the eggs and began jetting through the water at high speed. Asta quickly caught up, managing to snatch the eggs away, his transformed instincts getting a bit carried away as he stored them in his mouth. The Kraken didn't take too kindly to some weird fishboy seemingly eating eggs, quickly launching its tentacles towards Asta. He managed to dodge the first, but the second sent him flying away without the eggs as the Kraken began to retreat with its precious cargo before they were snatched away by Jonah yet again.
Asta quickly slammed into him from above, sending them careening into a nearby ship. Jonah's arm held Asta's neck, trapping him in place. He tried to pry his grip off before he noticed a rusted anchor nearby. He slammed it into Jonah, causing him to flee as he regenerated his suit. Asta then began twirling the anchor's chain before letting it go, sending the weight crashing into Jonah as the Kraken approached.
The three were caught in a stalemate, none able to snag the eggs for long. From the fight above, Yuno noticed, quickly using his wind to create a tornado above where the brawl was occurring. The winds above created a whirlpool, disrupting the fight as it flung the combatants around. The eggs went flying into Asta's grip as he quickly began swimming to the Krakens nest, with said beast in tow. He quickly deposited the eggs, bowing slightly to try and show the mother he meant no harm.
Jonah approached yet again, but not before the Kraken, now unhindered by its worry for its children, ripped Jonah's magic suit apart. With his magic depleted, Jonah made one last attempt to slay the beast, stabbing it with his dagger, only for it to break on the Kraken's tough hide. It was about to swallow him before Asta swam in front of Jonah, stopping the mother's wrath. It looked at Asta before returning to its nest.
Asta turned towards Jonah as he shrugged, hoping to be granted more mercy by our hero. Asta merely frowned as he punched Jonah in the face.
The next morning, at the cabin
Orfai entered, just as everyone finished preparing to return home. "Good news! Those documents Shaw and I grabbed helped prove Jonah guilty! Some green mantis came and took him away! Turns out he used to be a member of the purple orca's!"
"Really?" Asta questioned as he hopped off his bunk. "I fought another magic knight?" He raised his hand and clenched it, " If that chump got in, Yuno and I should have no problem getting in!"
Yuno smiled. In truth, he was pretty excited to have stopped another magic knight. That was just another sign that both of their training was paying off.
"I have more good news too!" Asta boasted as he raised his left arm, "Thanks to my new form, I know exactly how to swim now!"
He quickly ran outside before shouting to Yuno, "Last one home makes Dinner, Yuno!"
He dialed up the bracer, quickly selecting his newly acquired speedster before zipping off near his max speed. Yuno quickly darted out the door as he began pursuing Asta on his broom home.
They both ended up making dinner that night.
Hybrid Profile: Kineceleran
Abilities: Enhanced speed, Fast thinking, Claws, Tail
Missing abilities: Protective covering, Full Tail
Benefits/Weaknesses: Combining Asta's already exceptional human strength with kineceleran speed makes for one mean punch. Unfortunately, due to not having a face visor, Asta is unable to maintain his max speed without damaging his eyes. He also can be thrown off balance much easier due to not having a full tail to help correct his course.
Hybrid Profile: Opticoid
Abilities: Elemental Eyes, 360 Vision, Enhanced Hearing
Missing abilities: Full eye combination.
Benefits/Weaknesses: By being able to produce multiple elements at once, Asta can handle groups of amateur mages with ease. His new senses also make it incredibly hard to sneak upon him. High pitched noises and eye irritants will stun them briefly. Unfortunately, due to not being a full transformation, Asta cannot fully combine his eyes to the center of his body, making him unable to counter more powerful elemental attacks. Also, Asta makes an uncontrollable amount of eye-based puns.
Hybrid Profile: Piscciss Volann
Abilities: Water Breathing, Webbed hands, Claws, Jaws
Missing abilities: Webbed feet, Tail, Angler
Benefits/Weaknesses: Asta's speed is greatly enhanced in the water while in this form, but nowhere near as fast as a complete transformation. Due to being a hybrid, Asta is able to survive much longer without water. His weakness to electricity has been lessened as well. Due to the lack of an angler, Asta cannot see if the water is too deep.
A/N
Hello once again everyone! Hope you enjoyed the chapter. I'm really enjoying the process of blending Black Clover elements into Ben 10 stories and vice versa. We should be arriving at the Magic Knights entrance exam in around 1 to 2 chapters. Seriously not looking forward to the huge amount of character descriptions I will have to write for it though
Finally, I'd like to thank you all for your continued support of this story. I make sure to read every single review.
See you all nextime!
