Chapter 12: Home Sweet Home
On their way back from Thai Go, they went to stop by at the grocery store to get some more food and drinks. They parked the car and got out from their vehicle. Timon open the back door to let Marcy out and closed it behind her.
"Alright pumpkin, before we head back home, we need to to get some groceries just for each of us. If you live with us, you have to eat like us." Timon reminded.
"What's for dinner?" Marcy asked.
"I'll tell you when it's ready."
They walked inside the grocery store. Pumbaa pulled out the cart while Timon is holding Marcy's hand. They first stop by at the fruit section to pick up some apples and bananas, then they stop by at the mixing section where they picked up some batter for breakfast or dessert, and now they are at the snack section where all cookies and crackers are.
"Alright Marcy, which cookies do you like? Chips Ahoy? Nilla Wafers? Oreos?" Timon asked kindly.
"Chocolate chip cookies!" Marcy picked her favorite snack. Pumbaa picked out two packages of cookies and put inside the cart.
"What else do you like besides chocolate chip cookie?" Pumbaa asked.
"I only eat chocolate chip cookie because it's my favorite, but I never eat too much or I'll spoil for dinner." said Marcy honestly.
"Well that's good. It is important to save it after dinner." Pumbaa explained.
They went to the other side of the snack section where chips and popcorns are. He picked out two packages of buttered popcorn and two bags of potato chips inside the cart. Later on, they went to the other side of the aisle where most toys are.
"Daddy, can I look at the toys?" pleaded Marcy.
"Yes you can, but you can only pick one."
"Okay." Marcy smiled and ran to the toy section.
She looked through the action figures and walk to the girls' toys section. She couldn't think of where to pick either dolls or stuffed animal and then she spotted a unicorn plushie and picked it out. She never had a unicorn toy since she was an orphan. She smiled as she ran back to her adopted father.
"Daddy, look what I found?"
Timon and Pumbaa looked at Marcy holding a unicorn toy.
"Is that what you want?" Timon asked gently.
"Uh huh. I love unicorn."
"If that's what you wanted as long as you don't lose it."
"Yay! Thank you!"
"You're welcome, kiddo."
Marcy hugged her unicorn gently. Pumbaa smiled at his friend. He was so proud of Timon for becoming a good parent. And now they are heading to the check out to pay their bills and waited in line. Pumbaa had already picked a movie that already came out since he had a big surprise for Marcy. He had a big plan for the three of them. Timon had already picked out a toothpaste just for Marcy when she has to brush her teeth after dinner.
Marcy gave her unicorn to her adopted dad and waited patiently to check out and gave her unicorn back to her. Pumbaa had already paid his bills and picked up some groceries bags. They have exit the grocery and loaded up in their vehicle. They got in up front while Marcy is putting on her seatbelt.
"You all set back there?" Pumbaa asked.
"Uh huh." Marcy answered.
"Great, now let's go home." said Pumbaa as he started to reverse and drove away from the parking lot.
It won't be long by the time they made it home. They got out from the car and open their trunk to get some groceries out while Marcy exit the vehicle on her own. They closed the trunk and locked up the car. Pumbaa unlock the door aa they all went inside and closed the door behind them.
"Home at last. We'll let you know when it's time for dinner." Timon reminded.
"Okay." said Marcy
She run upstairs with her unicorn to her room while Timon and Pumbaa are putting away their groceries. Marcy entered her room and set her unicorn down at the kiddie tea table next to her stuffed teddy bear. She walked over to her bed and picked up her caterpillar toy and set it down between her unicorn and her Pikachu when she started play with her toys.
"Hello, I'm Wormy. Would you like to be my friend?" said Marcy playing with her toys.
"Why yes, indeed. I am Princess Pony." imitating like a princess.
"My name is Teddy and this is Pikachu."
"Pika Pika!" said Marcy mimicking her favorite Pokémon.
"Yay! Now we can be friends!"
"Who's up for tea time?"
Timon quietly entered Marcy's room to check on her and he looked at her smiling playing with her toys. For the first time in his life he never felt so happy like this when he adopted Marcy this morning. At first back in his old days, he never wants any more kids since he and Pumbaa already raised a lion cub when grows up until that day when times change, adopting Marcy has changed his life.
He pulled out his phone and started to take picture and looked at the photo on his screen where Marcy is smiling with her toys. Suddenly, Marcy looked up and smiling.
"Look daddy, they're all playing together!" Marcy announced.
"Isn't that sweet. Making new friends. Reminds me of Toy Story." said Timon.
"Yeah, Wormy is having his first tea party with his new friends."
Timon chuckled. He put away his phone and started to unpack her stuff to put her toys inside her toybox and took out her clothes from her suitcase to put it in her dressing drawers while Marcy is playing with her toys. Once he's done putting away all of her clothes, he bends on his knee and looked through her bag, but decided not to without her permission.
"Hey Marcy?"
"Yes daddy?" said Marcy when she paused her playtime.
"Can you tell me what's inside of your bag?" Timon asked kindly.
She walks over to her backpack and open up by unzipping. She pulled out her frog toy, her Nintendo 3DS, her favorite book, and some crayons. Marcy set her crayons at her desk and showed her 3DS. Timon has never seen a game pad like this.
"What's that?"
"That's Nintendo 3DS. I got it for my birthday when I was five back in the orphanage and I play some games like Pokémon." Marcy explained
"What does this 3DS do? Do you put on your 3D glasses?"
"No, silly. Here, let me show you." Marcy giggled.
She opens her 3DS when it turned on. She switched from 2D to 3D. Timon was surprised.
"Wow! So that's how you switched it, huh?"
"Yep."
"Very nice, now that you mentioned it. You wanna play video game downstairs?"
"Do I?!" exclaimed Marcy with eyes sparkles.
"Yes siree. Come on, I wanna show you something." Timon stand up and walk out from her room.
Marcy set her 3DS down on the night stand and followed him downstairs to the living room. Timon turn on the TV and hooked the game cube console and two controllers that Pumbaa bought from two days ago. Marcy stood in front of the TV once he's done hooking up and sets down five games at the coffee table.
"What's that?" asked Marcy curiously.
"That is called GameCube." Timon answered. "A game console that was made by Nintendo before Wii followed. Pumbaa bought this two days ago and I'm gonna teach you how to play, but first, we only have five games to play..."
"I pick 'Super Smash Bros. Melee'." Marcy cut off his sentenced when she picked one.
Timon was surprised at first.
"You know this one?" Timon asked.
"Uh huh, Bailey showed me from the commercial." Marcy answered.
"Huh, how about that. Okay, Smash Bros it is." Timon open up and took out the disk and put it inside the console.
They both sat down on the floor as they grab the controller. The game starts when he pushed the button and switched it to main menu.
"Man, it's been so long since I played this game once as long as I recalled. So let's see if we can find training." said Timon looking for training mode by pushing the button until he found it in Player 1 Mode.
"Training Mode!"
Marcy recognized some iconic characters. Timon started to think which characters that he would like to choose first and then he decided he should choose the plumber guy wearing red.
"Mario!"
"Mama Mia! I should pick-a-this guy while I have to fight a turtle." said Timon speaking like Italian accent making Marcy giggled.
He chooses the turtle monster for NPC.
"Bowser!"
Timon press start and it switch to select the stage. He's starting to figured out which stage he likes to pick and press the button on the castle stage. The training starts as he began to move his character around.
"Okay, what should I do. 'A' is for punching. 'B' is for fire. And uh..."
"Can I try?"
"Sure, go ahead."
Timon hand his controller to Marcy and started to play by jumping and attack her opponent by punching and kicking. It won't be long until she already throw her opponent off stage. Timon was impressed. He was surprised that Marcy plays better.
"How did you do that?"
"This? Oh, Bailey and I played this game with some kids back in the orphanage. We were sharing once we take turns." Marcy answered.
Timon couldn't believe how good she is. Not only that she plays her 3DS, but she once played the GameCube back in the orphanage. He smiling at her proudly when she beat up her opponent over and over again.
"Not bad, kid. Not bad."
"Why thank you." replied Marcy.
Pumbaa entered the room to check on them.
"Hey, what are you two playing?" asked Pumbaa when he looked at the TV where it shows the plumber beating up the turtle monster by grabbing it and throw it offstage.
Pumbaa looked at Marcy playing.
"Wait, did you let her play video game?"
"Actually, she did play video game once back in the orphanage." Timon answered.
"Really?"
"Yep."
Suddenly, Timon started to sniff when he smells something from the kitchen.
"Is something burning?" Timon asked when Pumbaa realized that he totally forgot.
"(gasp) MY NOODLES!" shouted Pumbaa when he ran back to the kitchen.
Both Timon and Marcy looked confused and then looked at each other.
"Okay, (ahem) now can you teach me how to play?"
"Okay." said Marcy handing out a controller to him and teach him how to play.
Cut to the kitchen when Pumbaa has already start cooking for dinner since he filled up some water in the pot and turn on the stove when it's boiling until he put some angel hair noodle in the pot stirring. He had to make sure that his cooking is perfect and took the pot over sink and dump the boiling water carefully. He sighed in relieved and set the pot down to cool off.
Pumbaa took out some dishes to set it on the table by using three plates, three cups, three forks and knives. He also set up salt and pepper to make it look like a restaurant. Pumbaa wink his eye and it's perfect.
Few minutes later, Timon and Marcy has already started versus mode when they choose both Mario and Pikachu against each other while the pink guy and an elf swordsman are both NPC. They started to enjoy it.
"Oh, ho, ho, I'm gonna win!" Timon declared.
"No you're not!" Marcy denied.
In the game where it shows Pikachu throw the bomb at Mario and blast him off stage before the countdown ends. Timon was shocked. He couldn't believe that his adopted daughter had beaten him. She won.
"Yay! I won! I won!" Marcy cheered.
"How on earth are you doing that?!" asked Timon dumbfounded.
"I don't know? It's what good I am."
"Sweetie, I can't believe that you have beaten me fair and square. I'm impressed!"
"Thanks for playing with me."
"You're welcome, pumpkin." said Timon hugging her gently. Then they heard Pumbaa's calling.
"Dinner's ready!" hollered Pumbaa.
"Coming!" Timon hollered back.
They stand up and turned off the game. They entered the kitchen and sat down at the table.
"Hey uncle Pumbaa, what's for dinner?" Marcy asked.
"We're having spaghettis. Fresh homemade noodles." Pumbaa answered.
"Mmm, yummy!"
"Mama mia! Please pass-a-cheese." said Timon with Italian accent.
"Yes sir, with or without sauce?" Pumbaa asked.
"I'll have sauce." Timon answered
"Me too!" Marcy added.
"Coming right up." Pumbaa picked up a spoon to put some sauce two times for Timon and one time for Marcy.
Pumbaa already filled up their drinks in their glass cups in case they get thirsty and they started to eat their first family dinner. Marcy picked up her and starts spinning on her pasta and eat it. They both looked at Marcy smiling.
"Enjoying your first meal?" Timon asked with mouth full.
Marcy nodded. They weren't even paying when his noodle was stuck connected at Pumbaa's dish when they eat a noodle together until their lips touch. Their eyes grew wide and they let go grossing each other out. Marcy laugh at that part.
"Did you two kiss?!" Marcy laugh.
"I do no such thing!" Timon answered cringed.
"How did this happen again?!" Pumbaa asked frantic.
"Your noodle was stuck on your plate and you kiss!" Timon replied back at Pumbaa.
"Ew, this is the last time we did that on purpose."
"You two are funny." Marcy giggled.
"Thanks for the tip, kid." said Timon sarcastically, but with gentle. "Remind me to never do that again."
They return to eating their dinner until their dishes were empty. Pumbaa had to change the subject.
"So how was your game you were playing?"
"It was great! I taught him how to play and we play against each other in versus mode." Marcy answered.
"So who won?"
"Me! I beat him by throwing a bomb at him before time runs out."
Pumbaa chuckled. Timon rolled his eyes when she metioned.
"Yeah, she beat me fair and square." said Timon.
"So may I please be excuse?"
"Yes you may, but remember, it's almost time for your bath." Timon reminded her.
"Okay." said Marcy gout from the table and head straight upstairs.
Timon and Pumbaa got out from the table and put away their dishes in the sink.
"You go ahead and washed up some dishes while I go filled up the bathtub." said Timon.
"Okay, but let's agreed that we should never ever speak about the lips."
"You don't have to tell me twice."
Timon walked upstairs and head straight to the bathroom. He turned on the light and start turning on the switch when the water is running. He took off his gloves and put it on the sink to check the temperature to make sure the water is fine.
Right now it's a little warmer. While he's waiting for bathtub to be filled, he went to check on Marcy and see that she already pulled out her green pajama dress.
"Hey Marcy, you ready for bath?"
"Mmm hmm."
Marcy went to the bathroom with Timon and close the door behind him. It won't be long until the tub is almost full and he turned it off. He took off his button up shirt and set down on the counter by the sink that he is now wearing his white tank top shirt. He looked at Marcy when she's rubbing her arm.
"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked softly.
"It's been a while since Bailey give me a bath once. I don't know that if I can do it alone or... something." said Marcy quietly.
Timon bend his one knee as he kneeled put his left hand on her cheek.
"Hey, it's gonna be okay. I've seen people takes bath, but not full of view. There's nothing to be afraid of. I'll be right with you" said Timon caring.
Marcy looked at his eyes smiling a bit.
"You promised?"
"I promised. Let's get you cleaned up."
Timon unties her hair and removed her beads. Marcy turned around took off her socks and shoes first, then removes her clothes quickly and step inside the bathtub. Timon set out a both bottle of soap and shampoo, a scrubber, and a bucket. He also pulled out a rubber Donald Duck toy and set it down on the water. Marcy started to play with her rubber ducky pretend to be a duck saying quack.
Timon start spilling soap on the scrubber and start to scrub on her. Marcy stood still and her close her eyes so she that her eyes doesn't get stung by soap. Later, he picked up the bucket and scoop up the water and washed the soap off of her repeatedly.
Timon put a shampoo on her hair and start scrubbing her. She started to giggle when she felt happy like ticklish. He's glad that she's doing it okay. Finally, he scoops up the water again and dumped it on her hair to wash it off. He unplugged the cork to empty the tub leaving nothing but some soap bubbles. He pulled out a tower to wrap it around the girl and step out from the tub.
"Feeling better?" He asked.
"Much better. Thank you." replied Marcy sweetly.
"You're welcome."
He dried off her by her towels and put on her green pajama dress. He put his button shirt back on, then went to get a hairbrush, and open the door leaving the bathroom and walk right into her room. They both sat down on her bed when he started to brush her hair gently.
"So Marcy, how'd you feel?" Timon asked.
"Fine, I guess." replied Marcy.
"Are you okay with this?"
"Kind of? Can I be honest with you?" Marcy asked.
"Sure. You wanna tell your daddy about it?"
"Before you adopted me, I was all nervous when I get adopted by my parents. And I realized that I'm not nervous at all, but there's something that's missing." said Marcy.
"Oh, and why's that?"
"How come I don't have a mom yet?"
"What?"
"My mom, you know where I used to have one since..." Marcy pause her sentence when she mentioned it and grew sad a bit.
Timon stop brushing her hair and set it down by a night. He remembers what she told him back at the park.
"Hey, I get it now, but not all kids have mom or dad. Sometimes...it's hard to tell that Pumbaa and I are the only ones that are single. Just because I didn't get married, but that doesn't mean women are perfect." Timon explained.
"So does this mean that I don't have a mom?" Marcy asked sadly.
"Sadly, no. But hey, maybe one day I will introduce you to my mom which you can call her grandma. Do you know why?"
"Why?"
"Because you are sweetest, kindest, and most adorable little girl I've ever met." Timon answered when he tipped his finger bopping her nose as she giggles.
He put pulled out a small green bow tie and put it on her hair.
"And most importantly...is that you are my favorite little princess."
He gave her kiss on her forehead. Marcy smiled at her father and hugged him gently.
"I love you, daddy."
"I love you, too."
Suddenly, Pumbaa came in to check on them.
"So, how'd it go?" Pumbaa asked.
"She's feeling much better." replied Timon.
"Okay then, it's time for bed."
"But I'm not tired." Marcy denied when she yawned.
"Yes you are. Sleeping is most important thing to rest your energy and it is healthy." Timon explained.
Marcy crawled on her bed and snuggled inside her bed sheets. Timon fixed her bed sheets and gave her caterpillar toy to sleep with.
"Welcome to our family, Marcy." said Timon rubbing her cheek softly and kiss her forehead. He stand up and walked out from her room when turned off the light.
"Goodnight." said Marcy tired.
"Sleep tight." said Timon softly.
"Dream of bed bugs tonight." said Pumbaa, but he was nudged by Timon when he forgot that he's a human as long as Marcy is around.
"I mean, don't let the bed bugs bite."
He nodded and closed the door leaving a green night light on. Marcy drifted into sleep peacefully. She was so glad that she can finally live with her adopted father and her adopted uncle. Tomorrow is gonna be a new beginning for her own journey.
I've got some good news and bad news. The good news my new computer arrives early last two weeks before I went on a trip to California with my family. The bad news is that I don't have the access to Microsoft Office until my parents can figure this out. Don't worry, more chapters are coming up real soon.
