Chapter 13: Family Activity
The next morning when the sun rises over Los Angeles. Timon is sleeping peacefully on his bed until his alarm clock goes off. He reaches out his arm to turn off the alarm clock and sit up tiredly. He got off his bed and stretched his back until he hears a crack. Timon went to his bathroom to look himself in the mirror to see his face which turns out that he is still in human form wearing his white pjs shirt and long pjs green pants.
Ever since last night, he and Pumbaa went to bed without turning themselves back into animals because they adopted Marcy from yesterday and they made their agreement that they should remain as humans until she goes back to school. He turned on the sink to wash his face and turned it off. He used a towel to wipe off his face and looked at the mirror. He literally forgot to take a shower before he goes to bed. He walked over to the calendar that was hanging on the wall as he picked up the pencil and crossed out an x mark.
"(sigh) Another day of being a human. Time to start another day."
He put on his slippers and walked right out from his room to his adopted daughters' room to check on her. He opens the door gently and see Marcy is sleeping peacefully holding on to her stuffed caterpillar. He walked over to her bed and then he bends his knees. Seeing her sleeping makes him smile.
"Aw, look at her? Sleeping like a little angel." said Timon softly then decided to wake her up gently. "Marcy, time to wake up."
Marcy started to wake up and then yawn. She rubbed her eyes and turned her head at her adoptive father, but still tired.
"Good morning daddy." said Marcy tiredly.
"Good morning, pumpkin. How's your napping?"
"I slept good." Marcy replied when she yawned. "I think I had a dream last night where I attended school with a bunch of kids as newts when they were about to hurt me, but then you and uncle Pumbaa came in dressed up as the police officers and told them to back off."
"Really?"
"Mmm hmm, it's kinda weird how many times that I keep dreaming about frogs." said Marcy.
"Well, that's good news. Up and at 'em." said Timon as he stands up.
Marcy got off from her bed holding her stuffed caterpillar. They walked through the door and walked downstairs to the kitchen to see what's for breakfast, but it turns out that Pumbaa beat them to it. He's already awake when making some pancakes for breakfast with milk and orange juice at the table. Pumbaa is wearing his brownish tank top and long black pajamas pants. He looked and smiled.
"Morning, Marcy! Timon!" Pumbaa greeted them.
They stood their shock and awe with jaws dropped. Marcy was amazed that her adoptive uncle had already made her first breakfast. Timon was surprised that his best friend got up early.
"Pumbaa, you're up early?" Timon asked.
"Yep, I thought of something that I woke up early in the morning to do some exercise or making breakfast. So why not, right?" Pumbaa answered.
"I don't see why not." Timon shrugged.
They sat down at the kitchen table and served themselves. Marcy was delighted that she gets to have her first breakfast with her adoptive family. Timon put four pancakes with butter on top on her plate and he poured some orange juice on her glass cup.
"Yes! My favorite!" said Marcy delighted.
"You like it, huh? With or without maple syrup?" Timon offered.
"Syrup please."
Timon poured some syrup on her pancakes and then cut some pancakes into small pieces by using fork and knives. Marcy licked her lips and start eating her pancakes. Her eyes sparkles when she taste her pancakes. She quickly munched down while Timon is watching her chuckling.
"Look at her go, Pumbaa. I've never seen her eating like that before." said Timon.
"Slow down there, sweetie. You don't want to bite your mouth." Pumbaa reminded her.
"Okay." said Marcy with her mouth full. Timon chuckled for that part.
"Now she started to sound like you." said Timon
"Very funny, Timon." said Pumbaa.
They started to eat their pancakes as well. Once Marcy is done eating her pancakes, she drinks up all the juice and set her cup down. Then she let out a childish burp. They looked at her stunned. Marcy started to giggled. Then they chuckled too.
"You call that a burp? Watch this." said Timon as he let out a small burp.
"You mean like this?" said Pumbaa when he burped. They played along when they take turns for burping and then Pumbaa let out a small gas. Both Timon and Marcy looked at Pumbaa stunned. Then they burst out a laugh altogether. Marcy has never been so happy with her adopted family.
"Pumbaa, old buddy, you just let out a gas!" Timon laughed.
"You mean you don't mind?" Pumbaa asked.
"Are you kidding? You made us laugh! Look at her." replied Timon smiling.
They looked at Marcy laughing until she stopped and looked at her adoptive father smiling. It made him happy that she's been smiling ever since her adoption day.
"You're funny, daddy." said Marcy.
"Thanks sweetie." He thanked his adoptive daughter.
He got off from the table and took his and her plate to the sink. Pumbaa already finished his pancakes and took his to plate to the sink to wash it off so that he can put some dishes in the dishwasher.
"Let's go get dressed, cause you and I had a whole lot of fun to do." said Timon.
"Yay!" cheered Marcy as she left the kitchen and run upstairs to get dressed. Once she's gone upstairs, he looked at Pumbaa.
"I'm gonna go take a shower." said Timon.
"Okay, and remember, only when you're a meerkat as long as you don't reveal yourself." Pumbaa reminded his friend.
"Hakuna Matata, Pumbaa. Of course, I can only do it for once as a meerkat as long as I have to keep it a secret. It's not like I have to look myself, well, you know?"
They recalled it when they don't have to take a shower when they're human because they're afraid of something that they don't understand what humans do and decided to drop the subject. Not in front of the kids.
"Just go washed up." said Pumbaa as he lowered his voice.
Timon left the kitchen and walked upstairs to his room to take a shower. It won't be long until Marcy comes out now wearing her new clothes. She's wearing a purple t-shirt with pink hearts and her blue short pants with her new sneakers. She already tied her hair with her beads. Pumbaa came upstairs to get himself washed up, but noticed Marcy stood by.
"Hi, Uncle Pumbaa! How do I look?" Marcy greeted.
Pumbaa looked at his niece wearing her new clothes and he smiled.
"Not bad. I think you look cute when you're wearing it." replied Pumbaa.
"Thank you, I never wear this different type of clothes before."
"That's because we bought some new clothes for you." Pumbaa explained.
"Really?" Marcy asked.
"Uh huh, I thought it might be easier that if you have enough clothes in case you're out of clothes. So that way I can do your laundry to clean your clothes." Pumbaa answered.
Marcy hugged her uncle's leg. It is now Pumbaa's turn when he felt the same way when Marcy hugged Timon's legs.
"Thank you, uncle Pumbaa."
"You're welcome, sweetie."
Suddenly, the door open when Timon comes out now wearing his green polo shirt, blue jeans, and a white sneaker. Marcy let go of
Pumbaa's legs and looked at him.
"Alright campers, are you ready for fun?" Timon asked.
"Yeah! Playtime!" Marcy cheered.
She ran back to her room getting her toys out to play with. Pumbaa nodded at his roommate as he went to the bathroom and once, he closed the door. Timon can see the bright since Pumbaa reverted back into warthog and he hears the water is running. Timon walked into Marcy's room and he sees that she's picking out some board games that he just bought.
"Whatcha doin'?" Timon asked.
"Just going through some board games." Marcy answered. "Do you ever played chess before?"
"As the matter of fact, yes, I do."
"Do you wanna play with me? I was wondering if you could play chess with me."
Timon thought of it, but then he smiled.
"Okay, I'll play with you."
"Yay!" Marcy cheered.
She picked up the chess game and ran past him as she ran downstairs to the kitchen. He followed her downstairs and went straight to the kitchen. Marcy opens the box as she setup some chess on the chessboard at the table. Once she's ready, they both sat down at the table.
"Alright kid, here's the deal. I'm gonna go with black while you go with white." said Timon. "I'll let you go first."
"Okay." replied Marcy.
She randomly picked the pawn and move first. Then Timon goes next when he randomly picked his own pawn and set aside. Then Marcy goes next. And you probably know what happens next by the time they reach to the point.
"Wow, not bad kid." Timon impressed.
"Why thank you." Marcy thanked him. "Bailey and I used to play games a lot."
"Really?" Timon playfully asked.
"Uh huh, one day I'll sign up for the chess championship when I grow up." Marcy explained.
It won't be long when they take turns one by one when there is nothing left, but a less more chess including two kings, a pope, and a horse. Timon is rubbing his chin waiting for Marcy to move.
"So, move." Timon patiently
Then she picked up the Pope and landed straight at the opponent's king. Marcy has won.
"Checkmate!"
He was stunned that Marcy has beaten him fair and square once again since yesterday. Timon was impressed.
"That's a good move. I can't believe it? I'm losing to a kid." said Timon surprised.
"(giggled) You're funny, dad. I like you." Marcy giggled.
"Ah, ah, ah, not like. Love." Timon reminded her.
"Okay."
"So, what other games do you like besides playing video games or chessboard?"
Before Marcy replied, Pumbaa entered now wearing purple shirt and blue pants as he walked to the kitchen to check on them.
"So, how'd it go?" Pumbaa asked.
"We're playing chess game and I won." Marcy answered.
"Wow! I'm impressed." Pumbaa smiled.
"Yeah, so shall we play game?" Timon asked.
Later on, Marcy picked out the next game called "Twister" when she setup in the living room. Marcy will be the instructor while both of her father and her uncle are ready to do for each color. However, they already bend as they struggle to move. She started to spin the arrows until it reached yellow.
"Left foot yellow."
They moved their left feet on yellow when stretched their legs. Marcy spinning the arrow again, but it stops at green.
"Left hand green."
Pumbaa was about to reach his left arm, but he felt a bone cracked on his back.
"OW! MY BACK!" Pumbaa cried.
He landed on top of his roommate when they fell together. Marcy laughed at that moment thinking it's funny. Later on, they choose the next game when they're playing card games at the kitchen table. It wasn't that long when they have too many cards. It's Timon's turn to pick a card.
"You got any threes?"
"Nope, go fish." Pumbaa answered.
Timon picks up the card and slammed it down at the table.
"HA! In your face!"
Pumbaa face palm while Marcy was confused. After the games they were playing, they decided to take a break when they're having their own lunch. Marcy asked kindly if she likes to have hotdogs and they agreed. They cooked up some hotdogs on the buns and covered it with ketchup. Marcy is eating her dog while playfully kicking her legs sitting at the table.
After their first meal, they resumed their fun activities when they are playing video games and this time they're playing against each other when playing as giant monsters in battle while Marcy is watching them.
"You're going down, bug boy!" teased Timon.
"Not on my watch!" Pumbaa denied.
"Go daddy, go!" Marcy cheered.
Timon and Pumbaa are playing as two giant monsters. One is a giant lizard with spines on its back and the other is the giant bug with drills on each arm. Timon pressed the 'Z' button to unleash a blue radiation blast as it hits on its opponents.
"K.O.!"
"Whoo hoo!" Timon cheered.
"Yay, daddy!" Marcy cheered.
Pumbaa chuckled as he shook his head gently. He knew it was all just a game. Few hours later when Marcy looked out in the backyard to see a swimming pool. Her eyes sparkles whenever she wanted to go out for swimming. She looked at her dad putting away some boarding games.
"Daddy, can I go out for a swim, please?" Marcy asked their permission.
"You want to go for a swimming?" Timon asked. "What do you think, buddy?"
"I don't see why not." Pumbaa shrugged.
"Yay!" Marcy cheered as she ran upstairs to change her clothes into swimsuit. Later on, Marcy got out into backyard wearing her green swimsuit while her adoptive father and her uncle wearing their swim trunks. Marcy carefully tipped her toe to the water to see if it's too cold. Once she reached the water, she felt that the water is fine. She looked at her dad already enter the pool sliding down.
"Come on in. The waters fine." Timon reminded her kindly.
Marcy got into the pool and took each step when she reached the stairs until she started to swim. Timon swim walking to her and hold onto her in his arms.
"You okay, kid?" Timon asked.
"Uh huh, Bailey taught me how to swim." Marcy answered.
"That's my girl."
"CANNONBALL!" Pumbaa hollered as he jumped to the pool and make huge splash on them.
Pumbaa burst out from the water and looked at both Timon and Marcy all wet stunned.
"Sorry." Pumbaa apologize.
Then they both started to laugh at him. Pumbaa joined the laugh as well and then started to splash around at each other. Few minutes later, they all got out from the pool when they wrapped themselves up by using their towels. Timon took Marcy to the bathroom to wash off the pool chlorine by using soap and shampoo.
Meanwhile, Pumbaa went to take a shower from his friend's room as a warthog that he already reverted back as he scrubbing himself with soap. Later on, Timon arrived as a meerkat and got into the shower as well as scrubbing his fur off.
Back to Marcy was now wearing her green pajamas with her green bow tie since it's almost evening. She is now drawing of herself and her adoptive family by using her crayons. Once she's done, she looks at her drawing when she smiled.
"Marcy! Dinners ready!" Her dad hollered.
"Coming!" Marcy hollered back.
She went downstairs to the kitchen and see what's for dinner which it turns out to be a homemade frozen pepperoni pizza that they cooked and set it on the table. Timon and Pumbaa already reverted back into humans wearing their current clothes. She sat down on a chair while her adoptive father cut off two slices of pizzas and set it on her plate. Both of her father and her uncle are taking four slices of pizzas from each separate.
"Careful, it's hot." Pumbaa warned her.
Marcy blows her pizza and quickly took a bite out of her pizza, but then her face turns red and then released some steamed from through her nose. Marcy quickly drank some water down to her throat and sighed in relief.
"I warned you." said Pumbaa when eating his meal.
"Now I know how that feels." Timon recalls that.
"Sorry, it's just that I have never eat any of pizzas for a while." Marcy apologizes.
"It's alright sweetie, we've all made mistakes here." replied Timon when he swallowed his pizza which he already took a bite of it.
Then they started to eat some pizzas until their plate is empty. Then Pumbaa decided that what other activities are coming up next before bed.
"Hey Marcy, do you know what time it is?"
"Is it bedtime story?" Marcy curious.
"Not likely, but it's time for… family movie night!"
"We're going to watch the movie?!" Marcy exclaimed cheerfully.
"That's right! It's our first family movie night." Pumbaa explained. I'll get the popcorn ready."
"And I'll go get some movies." Timon added.
Pumbaa went to grab some packages of popcorn and put it in the microwave waiting to pop. Timon already put away the dishes in the dishwasher and start running by pushing buttons. Marcy is waiting on the couch holding her stuffed caterpillar until Timon arrived holding something on his back.
"(ahem) I got something for you, a gift."
He holds out a dvd that just came out. Marcy gasp with her eyes sparkles.
"The Princess and the Frog?! How did you know that I always wanted to watch it?" Marcy cheerfully asked.
"Well, since you like frogs that much, so why not watching the movie tonight?"
Then he turned on the TV and put the disk inside the DVD player. He sat down next to Marcy and waiting for Pumbaa while her dad skipped to the menu. Pumbaa arrived with full bucket of popcorn with two bowels and sat down next his niece.
"Okay, I got the popcorn so we can share." said Pumbaa pouring some popcorn at two bowels and passed it to them.
"Alright then, let's get this movie started." said Timon when he played the movie.
Then the movie started by showing the intro for the castle and then they watched at the intro where two girls are at house listening to one of the girls' mothers reading them a story. Marcy picked up some popcorn and eat it while staring at the movie.
Later on, the movie skipped to the part where the voodoo man turned the prince into frog while singing. Marcy reacts at the part. Pumbaa cringed at that part. Timon chuckled a little bit.
"Didn't say I warned you." Timon muttered.
The next scene when a woman kissed a talking frog, but instead she ended up turned into a frog instead when she screamed. Marcy laughed at that moment. Pumbaa gently shook his head and then eat some popcorns. And then the next scene where the frogs meet an alligator that's doing the trumpet.
"Hey, it's Louis! I love this guy!" Timon remembers.
Marcy was amazed that they can actually singing and dancing and they became friends. And the next scene where three hooligans beating themselves up by frogs outsmarted them and when the frog girl spoke, the hooligans screamed. Marcy and her adoptive family were laughing at that scene.
"Now that's funny! Ha! What a bunch of mooks!" Timon laughed.
Then later, they were watching at the romantic scene where the frogs dance as the talking firefly singing. Pumbaa has finished up all of the popcorn. Marcy laid her head at her adoptive father and he looked at her smiling. Then the next part when there was a saddest part when the talking firefly passed away when crushed by the voodoo man. Timon and Pumbaa started to cry with tears.
"Why? Why does he have to die?!" Timon cried
"He was so small!" Pumbaa cried as well.
Marcy hugged her stuffed caterpillar tightly when she's feeling sad. And then suddenly when they're staring at the TV screen where it shows the cloud revealed to second star to right. Marcy remembers the star when she recognizes that from different movie.
And finally, when they reached to the wedding where both frogs shared their true loves kiss and then reverted back into humans that are both prince and princess. Marcy was amazed with her eyes sparkles, but both Timon and Pumbaa remembers when they see this sequence before.
"Hey Timon, do you remember that when we saw that back in the temple before we turned ourselves into humans?" Pumbaa whispered.
"Yeah, that looks familiar." replied Timon whispered.
Once the movie has ended, the credits are rolling. They admitted that this movie was great. Marcy enjoyed her first movie night with her adoptive family. But then she started to yawn.
"Tired?" Timon asked kindly.
"Do I have to?" Marcy replied.
"Of course, you can."
Her dad turned off the TV and set the remote down. Pumbaa set down the bucket at the coffee table. Then he carried a toddler as he got off from the couch while she's holding on her stuffed caterpillar. He entered to her room and set her down gently on her bed.
"Daddy?"
"Yes?"
"Thank you for watching the movie with me. It was my favorite." Marcy thanked him.
"You're welcome, sweetie. I'm glad that you enjoyed it."
Before he tucked her, Marcy started to think about the frogs since she watched the whole movie. She was wondering if it's possible that magic exists, but she knew that it only works in the movie.
"Dad, I was thinking?"
"Why's that?"
"Do you think there's such thing as magic? I know it only works in the movie, but….is it possible for people transform?" Marcy curious.
Timon never thought about her curious, but he knew that magic does exist since he and Pumbaa went to the temple to retrieve the stones and turn themselves into humans. But decided to not reveal himself to Marcy, because if he did, he's afraid that she will be easily scared of his animal form. For now, he decided to change the subject.
"Sweetie, we know that it only works in the movie, but sometimes people can do magic when they perform. Not all people use magic for good, but some might use magic for bad." Timon explained.
"Like the shadow man?"
"Yeah, that guy. But don't you worry, I'll always be here for you. No matter what." said Timon put his hands on her left softly.
"Can you sing me a song? Bailey used to sing me a lullaby when I was little." said Marcy kindly.
"Of course, I can pumpkin, my mom used to sing me a lullaby when I was little and now it's my turn to sing you lullaby that she used to sing." said Timon when he started to sing.
(The Lion Sleeps Tonight - Timon)
Weeheeheehee dee heeheeheehee weeoh aweem away
Weeheeheehee dee heeheeheehee weeoh aweem away
(Timon turned off the lights, but the night lights were on when it's dark.
In the jungle, the mighty jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
In the jungle the quiet jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
(Timon tucked her in by covering up her bed sheets while Marcy snuggled herself in.)
Wee heeheehee weeoh aweem away
Wee heeheehee weeoh aweem away
(Then she started to close her eyes slowly when she yawned.)
Near the village, the peaceful village
The lion sleeps tonight
Near the village, the quiet village
The lion sleeps tonight
(While Timon is singing, Marcy drifted to sleep peacefully holding on to her stuffed caterpillar.)
Wee heeheeheehee weeoh aweem away
Rrr, la la la weeoh aweem away
(By the time she's asleep, some lights glowing where Timon and Pumbaa reverted themselves back into animals, but still wearing their clothes that it fits perfect on them. Timon is smiled warmly at his adoptive five-year-old daughter sleeping.)
Hush, my darling, don't fear, my darling,
The lion sleeps tonight
Hush, my darling, don't fear, my darling,
The lion sleeps tonight
(Timon pulled out his handkerchief and wrapped around Marcy's stuffed caterpillar as he tied up into a bow tie on its neck. He kissed Marcy's forehead)
Wah oh oh, wah oh oh, wah oh wimoweh
Weeheeheehee dee heeheeheehee weeoh aweem away
Weeheeheehee dee heeheeheehee weeoh aweem away
(Music ends.)
He jumped on Pumbaa as a warthog and head out for an exit. He turned his head around at Marcy with one last look before he closed the door. He can hear breathing when she smiled. His lullaby worked out so well. He reached the doorknob and closed it gently behind him and his roommate. All that's left was Marcy sleeping on her bed peacefully when she smiles.
