Chapter 16: Family Bonding

On Sunday morning, the alarm clock goes off until Timon turns off and sat up. He got off from his bed and walked out from his room to Marcy's room.

He opens the door and see Marcy that already got dressed wearing her yellow shirt and blue shorts. He was surprised that she was already awake. Marcy looked and smiled.

"Good morning daddy!" Marcy greeted him.

"Morning Mar-Mar." Timon greeted her back. "I see you up and ready, huh?"

"Uh-huh, I'm always up and dressed." replied Marcy.

"Wonderful! Now let's go make some breakfast."

"Did somebody say breakfast?" Pumbaa asked that he's already awake.

Later on, they were having pancakes for breakfast again as they all eating together at the table. Then they drink their orange juice. Marcy first small burp, then Timon burps second, and then Pumbaa burps loudly.

Few minutes later, they got out from the door and closed the door behind them. Timon is carrying some fruits in the basket. They all got inside their car and drove away.

It won't be long until they finally arrived where it shows a house that belongs to the Boonchuys family. They got out from their vehicle and walk towards the door. Timon rang the doorbell and waited until the door open.

Mrs. Boonchuy answered the door and looking at them smiled as they presented her a fruit basket.

"Good morning, Mrs. Boonchuy." Marcy greeted.

"Morning ma'am!" Timon greeted. "We brought you a gift."

"Good morning, Marcy, gentlemen." Mrs. Boonchuy greeted them back. "Come on in."

They step inside through the door and took off their shoes according to her house rules. Timon hand over the gift basket to Mrs. Boonchuy.

"Thank you for stopping by." Mrs. Boonchuy thanked them.

"You're welcome." replied Timon.

"We were wondering if we could come to visit you." said Pumbaa.

"Yes, so true."

Anne ran downstairs and see Marcy smiling. She ran over to her friend and hugged her. Later on, they're all watching TV together where it shows a footage some puppets from the kids show. Both Anne and Marcy are enjoying watching this while Timon and Pumbaa are smiling at the girls.

Anne's parents entered the living room holding their plates of their own Thai traditional meal when lunch is ready. Few minutes later, they'll eating at the dining room table when eating and talking at the same time.

Timon felt something is rubbing on his legs. He looked down and see Domino who was rubbing against his legs. The cat looked up and meowing at him.

"Aw, Domino really likes you." Anne giggled.

Her parents were chuckled. Timon smiled softly at the cat. Few hours later when it's time to go, Marcy and her adoptive family walked out from the door and waved goodbye at them while Anne and her parents were waving back at them.

They got inside their vehicle and drove back home where they came from. Later that evening, Timon is sleeping on his bed peacefully, but then he heard a door open as he woke up and sees Marcy wearing her pajamas holding her stuffed caterpillar.

"Daddy? Can I sleep with you?" Marcy asked softly.

Timon sit up tiredly and rubbing his eyes.

"Why?" He asked tiredly.

"I…I had a bad dream."

Timon raised his eyebrows. It really hit him. She reminded him of Simba when he was a cub. Now he remembers that the exact same words. The human in disguise smiled softly at her.

"Of course, you can."

Marcy smiled back at him softly. She climbed on to her father's bed and snuggled inside of the bedsheets. Timon laid himself back down gently on his bed.

"Thank you." Marcy thanked him.

"You're welcome, sweetie. Goodnight."

Then she fell asleep first. He looked thinking that she's cute to sleep with him. And then he fell back asleep as they all sleep peacefully.

On Monday morning, the alarm goes off again, but Timon turned it off quickly and woke up as he stretched himself. He looked at Marcy sleeping smiling. Then he started wake her up gently.

"Morning pumpkin. Rise and shine." said Timon softly.

Marcy woke up when she yawns. She looked at him tirelessly.

"Morning daddy."

"Did you sleep well last night?"

"Uh-huh."

"That's my girl. Let's get dressed."

Two hours later, they've already got dressed and had cereal for breakfast while they were sitting on the couch watching TV where it shows cartoon characters doing 'Hot Diggity-Dog' dance.

Suddenly, they heard a doorbell. Timon walked over to the door and open it where it shows Sasha was standing outside wearing her pink dress.

"Hi, is Marcy home?"

"Yes, she is. Come on in, kid." said Timon allowing Sasha to enter.

She walked over to the living room and see Marcy watching TV. Marcy looked at Sasha smiling and jumped off the couch hugging her.

Later on, Marcy and Sasha were playing dress up games. Sasha is wearing her purple scarf and yellow coat while Marcy is wearing her pink skirt. They were giggled when they put on some dresses on her adopted dad wearing a butterfly wings and antenna. Pumbaa laughed at him so hard while recording on his camera.

The next day on Tuesday, Timon and Pumbaa decided to take Marcy now wearing her red shirt and white pants over to the Museum of Natural History. They went through the main entrance and were amazed that the museum has everything.

Marcy was so excited that she gets see everything like they were dinosaur bones and artifacts. She ran over to the bones and pointed her finger gleefully. They both chuckled when they knew that she loves to study a lot.

"Do you know what this is?" Pumbaa asked kindly.

"Yeah, that's Tyrannosaurus Rex, one of the largest theropod and king of the dinosaurs!" replied Marcy.

"Wow. You got good eyes, kid." said Timon impressed.

"That's right. I read lots of dinosaur books." said Marcy. "Have you ever seen a dinosaur before?"

"Well, it's funny you ask me, but can you keep it a little secret?" Pumbaa asked.

Marcy nodded. Timon kneeled down to Marcy and whispered softly. Once he explained everything, Marcy giggled. Then suddenly, a black femal paleontologist approached wearing her dinosaur button shirt, light brown pants, and black boots with UFO earrings and her glasses.

"Hello there, and welcome to the Museum of Natural History." greet The paleontologist smiling. "My name is Dr. Jan and I'm the curator here. What brings you all here?"

"Hello, doctor. You see, my daughter was interested to study about the history and science." replied Timon standing up.

"Aren't you the cutest thing! You came to the right place and I'll give you a tour around the museum." said Dr. Jan. "Are you two like together or something?"

"Actually, I'm her niece. We adopted her." Pumbaa answered.

"Congratulations! I'm so happy that two you adopt a sweet little girl."

"Thank you, doctor." thanked Pumbaa.

"No problem. If you follow me, I'll give you a grand tour."

They followed Dr. Jan when giving them a tour around the museum. Marcy admirers everything they have from dinosaurs to astronomy and from Egyptian to Greece. They looked around in the artifact room.

Marcy spotted a vase and curiously look closer where it shows an ancient history of Vikings looking at something that looks like a frog that jumped from what it looks like a portal and above the frog was something like the music box. Marcy was confused and wandering what's a frog doing in the vase.

"Didn't expect to see a frog, huh?" Dr. Jan asked when approached to Marcy.

"What's that?" ask Marcy kindly.

"That is poetry where we discovered something's that interesting. It appears that a frog just comes out from another world." Dr. Jan answered.

"Really?"

"Maybe, but I believe that there could be frog aliens."

"Wow." Marcy amazed about the frogs.

Later on, they exit through the main entrance with some souvenirs they bought from the gift shop. Timon bought a tyrannosaur toy and a small fossil ammonite for Marcy. Dr. Jan is waving bye at them.

"Thank you for stopping by. Hope you have wonderful day. Come back soon!" said Dr. Jan waving.

"Thank you!" Timon hollered.

"Goodbye!" Pumbaa waved.

Later at night when they got home, Marcy, Timon, and Pumbaa are watching the movie on TV where it shows a T. Rex tearing up the jeep tour. It may be too scary for Marcy, but she doesn't mind watching a dinosaur movie. Pumbaa felt unease about the movie.

"Marcy? Are you sure that doesn't scare you?" said Pumbaa concerns.

"Nope. I don't mind watching the movie. I've seen this before when I was with the boys back at the orphanage." replied Marcy.

"You did?!" ask Pumbaa raised his eyebrows.

"Yep."

Suddenly, they heard a roar as the T. Rex devours a lawyer. Timon chuckled a bit while Pumbaa cringed his eyes. Marcy tilted her head at her uncle.

"Poor fella. Never moved a muscle." Timon commented.

The next day on Wednesday, they parked the car at Los Angeles Zoo. Marcy got out from the car excitedly because she loves animals. Marcy is now wearing her purple shirt with a red heart on it and her light blue shorts.

Timon and Pumbaa got out from the car and closed it. Timon is wearing green polo shirt with a crocodile on very top right and blue jeans while Pumbaa is wearing brown shirt and black pants.

They walked over to the main entrance once they got in. Timon gently hold Marcy's hand as they walk together.

"Now stay with us, sweetie. We don't want you to get separated." said Timon reminded her.

"Yes daddy, but it's been a while since I came here back when I was at the orphanage for field trip." said Marcy smiling.

"Don't worry, there's still plenty of time."

Later on, they first went over to the elephant exhibit. They looked at the elephants' roam freely when a mother and a baby are drinking their water, but the baby elephant was playing in the water. It made Marcy goes awe with eyes sparkles.

"Aw!"

Then they went to the giraffe exhibit where giraffes are feeding for lunch. Timon lifted up Marcy when trying to reach her left arm giving a lettuce to the female giraffe and then she uses her tongue to grab the lettuce and eating it. Marcy giggles while Timon chuckles. Pumbaa took a picture for their moments smiling at them.

Few minutes later when they look through every exhibit until they went to the next one where it shows all of the meerkat colonies. Marcy smiles at the meerkats.

"Look, daddy! They're meerkats! Just like you!" said Marcy smiling.

"Oh yeah, just like me." Timon chuckled. "Let's not get anyone's attention while we're here."

"Oh, okay."

Timon was looking at some meerkats are roaming around while the other meerkat is doing a sentry. He remembers when he used to be as a meerkat colonist, but he's no good at digging tunnels and standing guard until he chose his own path.

Timon pulled out his phone and took a picture. He looked at the photo of a mother meerkat with her six pups. He really misses his mother since he last saw her. Pumbaa put his hands on his friend's shoulder when he took a glance softly.

"You okay?" Pumbaa asked.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Let's get going." replied Timon.

They left the meerkat exhibit and moved on to the next. Few hours when the zoo starts to close for the night. Marcy is holding her adoptive father's hands while carrying her stuffed panda walking along with Pumbaa eating his popcorn as they exited through the main gate.

"Having fun?" Timon asked kindly.

"Uh-huh, thanks for taking me to the zoo." said Marcy thanking him.

"You're welcome, sweetie."

They went inside their vehicle and drove off from the zoo. It took a few hours to get back home and called in a night. Timon already tucked her in wearing her pjs when she fell asleep. He kissed her forehead and heads out from her room when turned off the light and closed the door.

The next morning on Thursday, Marcy is wearing her light blue shirt and brown shorts when setting up her timer for pancakes eating contest. She watched her father and her uncle eating 20 pancakes as they munched down until it's empty. Until then, Pumbaa wins, but Timon lost when he's all full.

Later on, they went to Santa Monica where roller coaster and a Ferris wheel are standing at boardwalk like carnival at the beach. It was Marcy's first visit to the fair. She has never been to any places like this before. Marcy dragged her father's arm when running towards a bit.

"Hey, slow down pumpkin!" Timon chuckled when he's been dragged.

"C'mon dad! There's a roller coaster!" Marcy excited.

"Aren't you a little too young to be on a roller coaster?" Timo asked.

"Please, daddy? Please?" Marcy pleaded.

"Gee, I don't know if she is tall enough to get on a roller coaster." said Pumbaa. "What do you think, Timon?"

Timon started to think about the roller coaster that he's been on since he and Pumbaa went to search for Marcy before she's adopted. He looked at Marcy with her puppy face. Then he made a decision.

Marcy and Timon are riding a roller coaster sitting in the front while Pumbaa is sitting in the second row right next to a random person. Once they got off from the roller coaster, Timon bought the photo of him sitting next to Marcy showing their smiles while Pumbaa cheers on the roller coaster.

Later on, they were walking around the fair where people win a prize for a game. Marcy pointed her finger when she spotted a blue stuffed dolphin. She ran over to the game standee hopping up and down. Timon shook his head smiling and picked up the ball. He throws a ball as it knocked out three bottles. Marcy cheers while Timon smirks. The game owner gives a dolphin plushie to Timon and then he gives a dolphin plushie to Marcy. She was hugging her prize toys giggled.

Then they went to the Ferris Wheel where she's sitting with her father and watching the view as the whale jumps far away from the distance. Marcy couldn't believe that she saw a whale for the first time ever.

Few hours later, they went to the beach as they walked along the sand. Marcy is now wearing her olive swimsuit while Timon is wearing his orange swim trunks while Pumbaa is wearing his black swim trunks and his sunglasses.

Marcy is picking up some seashells to put it inside the jar for her collection. The girl stops and looked at the crab crawling passed her. Marcy and her dad are building the sandcastle with seashells decorated while Pumbaa took picture from his camera.

Both Marcy and her adoptive father walked into the water to find something what they're looking for. Marcy felt that the water may be cold, but the water is fine. Then suddenly, she looked down and picked up a starfish gently out from the water. Marcy is showing a starfish to Timon, but he already picked up two starfish.

They walked back ashore and sneaked up on sleeping Pumbaa very quietly as Timon and Marcy set the starfishes down gently on his chest. They started to snickers a bit by the time Pumbaa woke up slowly. He looked down at the starfishes blinking his eyes and then he looked up at Timon and Marcy laughing at him. Pumbaa join the laugh as well. And by then when all three of them are watching the sunset above the horizon.

Later that evening when they got home, they all wash themselves off, but Marcy always goes first when Timon as a meerkat gave her a bath, but accidentally slipped and fell off into the bathtub when splashed. He popped up all covered in bubbles while Marcy was giggling at him. Timon chuckled back.

Few minutes later after her bath, Marcy is now wearing her pajamas while Timon is reading her a bedtime story. She was snuggled inside of her bed along with her stuffed panda, her dolphin, and her T. Rex. Marcy is holding onto her stuffed caterpillar.

"And so, The Blue Fairy turned Pinocchio into a real boy for his bravery and courage as he and his father are celebrating while Jiminy Cricket was awarded for being the best conscious and they all lived happily ever after. The end." Timon finished reading the book.

"Wow." said Marcy.

"So, you having fun?" Timon asked kindly.

"Uh huh, I had a great time!" replied Marcy.

"I'm glad that you enjoyed it. You had good time at the beach?"

"Yeah, I collected whole lot of seashells for my collection in my jar." Marcy looked at her full jar of seashells.

"Very nice. Remember when we put on two starfish on his chest to make him look like a woman?" Timon teased.

"It was funny." Marcy giggled.

"You can laugh all you want, but I can still hear you, you know." said Pumbaa as a warthog when he entered Marcy's room.

"Says the pig who recorded on me when she hugged my legs." Timon rhetorically teasing his best friend.

"I stand correctly."

"Now, let's get some sleep." Timon suggested.

"Daddy, can I ask you something?" Marcy asked kindly.

"Sure."

"Remember you told me about your dad?"

Timon grew softly when he remembers what he told Marcy about his past, but he never told a toddler that his father was a meerkat when he was a pup.

"Yeah, I did tell you about my father, but I didn't tell you that he was a meerkat." replied Timon.

"What was he like?" Marcy asked curious.

"I'll tell you what I know. My dad was a fearless meerkat that he has ever known. We hung out together along with my mom. We had a great time back in the colony. He taught me everything about how to survive by scurrying, sniff, flinch, and digging up the tunnel. However, I wasn't really good at it when some kids are picking on me." Timon explained.

"Does your daddy ever help you?"

"Yes, sweetie, he did help me. He loved me more than anything. And by that day when time's change, hyenas happened when my dad took on against that predator, but then he sacrificed himself to save me and my family. And the whole colony that I know." Timon looked down sadly.

Marcy did remember what her adoptive father told her about his past, but never mentioned that Timon's father was killed by the hyenas. Marcy felt bad about him.

"I am so sorry about your dad." Marcy apologizes quietly. "I know what is like to lose my parents. I miss them so much."

Timon walked over and gave her big warm hug. Marcy hugged the meerkat back.

"It's okay, sweetheart. I'll be okay. What matters now is that your parents wanted you to be happy. Here, with me and your uncle." said Timon softly.

"I'm your pig." said Pumbaa smiling.

"Thanks guys, but what about my brother? Do you think he's okay?" Marcy asked in concerned.

"Don't worry, Mar-Mar. I'm sure your brother will be okay."

"Are you sure?"

"I'm positive."

"Can you sleep with me tonight? I need someone to sleep." said Marcy softly.

Timon and Pumbaa give a glance at each other. Then they looked at Marcy with her puppy face. She made Pumbaa goes soft.

"Aww, why don't we all sleep together?" Pumbaa suggested.

"Mi Pumbaa, su Pumbaa." said Timon.

Timon gently moved her toys over so that Pumbaa can lay on his back while Timon turned off the light and quickly went inside her bedsheets next to Marcy. They're all sharing their smiles.

"Love you, pumpkin." said Timon.

"Thanks guys, I love you too." replied Marcy. "Goodnight."

"Sleep tight."

"Dream of bed bugs tonight." said Pumbaa before he fell asleep with her stuffed animals, but snoring softly. Marcy giggled at her uncle a little and then she drifted into sleep.

Timon was about to get some sleep, but he felt his daughter's arm holding him gently along with her stuffed caterpillar. He never felt so warm since he remembers when Simba as a cub sleep with him and Pumbaa.

He looked at Marcy sleeping as he smiled back at her. And now Timon peck his daughters head and drifted off into sleep like father and daughter. And her uncle too. They all sleep together as one big family.

Meanwhile, from the other side of the planet in Taipei, Taiwan by daylight where most people go to work or traveling. Then it shows a small house that was farther away from the city decorated with some flowers and koi pond in their front yard.

He touched the picture frame as he smiled softly remembers when he used to hold his baby sister, but the question is what happened to his sister when he last saw her. Then suddenly, he heard a door knock.

"Come in."

The door open where it shows an old woman wearing her blue long shirts with white flowers, light brown pants, and her white shoes entered the boy's room. The boy looked at his grandmother smiling.

"Eddie, are you all packed up?" The old woman asked.

"Yes, grandma. I'm ready to go." replied Eddie.

"That's good to hear. Get your suitcase. Your grandfather is waiting for you."

"Okay grandma, I 'll be down in a second."

She nodded and left the room. Eddie put on his light dark grey hat and got off from his desk. He put on his backpack and picked up his suitcase as he exited the door.

He walked downstairs and head straight to the door where it shows his grandfather wearing his glasses, green sweater, and brown pants setting two suitcases inside their vehicle. Eddie approached his grandpa giving his suitcase to him.

"Hey grandpa."

"Oh, Eddie. Perfect timing."

"Yep, here's my suitcase." said Eddie.

"Oh, thank you." His grandfather thanked him setting the suitcase inside and closed the trunk.

His grandmother closed the door from behind and walk straight to their car. His grandparents went inside their vehicle and took their front seat while Eddie climbed to the back putting on his seatbelt. His grandfather turned on the engine as he pulled out and drove away from the house.

"Grandma, what time do we take flight to California?" Eddie asked.

"In about two hours. We'll be there on time before our flight starts." His grandmother replied.

"You ready for your first trip to America?" His grandfather asked.

"Yeah, I can't wait." replied Eddie.

"That's good. As soon as we land in California, we'll find a hotel that's get to close to the park."

"Okay, grandpa."

Eddie looked out the window to see the view of Taipei. Eddie wanders what was his first vacation trip that he hasn't been to. It was his first time traveling with his grandparents and he has never been to travel to the outside world before.

"California, here we come."
